Just did this to my 2007 3.7L a couple weeks ago. It's working great! The engine is a bit louder but not in a bad way. The only thing about this mod that I've noticed that he doesn't address in the video is it might make your transmission shift at weird times. sometimes I notice it hesitate before shifting up, but not entirely sure what specifically the root cause of that is.
The dowels on the V8 throttle body do not allow it to be placed on my engine. I have the same exact Jeep as you and I bought a throttle body off of a 08-13 Dodge Ram 1500.
i’m interested in doing this to my dodge dakota with the same engine, but i was curious if you should get a tune to make sure the air fuel mixture stays good, or does the computer just figure that out on its own?
Do you have a link on where I could buy one that fits? AutoZone wants 215$ for a replacement Duralast one... if I spend that much money I want to be CERTAIN it will fit.
Hello my name is Bryan. And I'm new to the jeep life. I have a 2005 jeep grand cherokee laredo with a 3.7. I'm wanting to do this but I don't have the electric throttle. I have the cable set up. Any information would be deeply appreciated thank you
The throttle body was cleaned and reset, but the car engine was vibrating after about two days, when the transmission was at d or r, and the throttle was reset again, and after about two days, the vibration was back on again, so what is the solution?
My opinion the ecu would only drop as much gas as its supossed to programmed to do so it wouldnt make it no faster it just get there quicker cause the air rpm be faster wouldnt that make run lean idk for sure
First off I really enjoy your videos so thank you for posting them. Very informative but I do have a question on this and maybe you can answer it. I have a 2007 Jeep Commander with the 3.7l and so happen to have a beautiful 4.7l TB on me that only has 20k miles on it. I decided to try it out but ran into an issue. First off there are two little plastic notches sticking out from the intake manifold inlet so they line up with the indents for the 3.7l TB so that it’s straight on. The 4.7l TB has these indents as well but are off and seem to be further apart from the notches on the intake manifold. This doesn’t line up properly and prevents me to placing the 4.7l TB on the intake manifold. Bolts line up perfectly btw except for those notches to line them up. At the same time I have noticed that when opening the butterfly valve on the 4.7l TB, the intake manifold opening was smaller than the TB! So I decided to measure my 3.7l intake manifold and the opening was 2.5” just like my 3.7l TB. I plugged the 4.7l TB in the connector to see if it works and it does work but not understanding when people say that the 3.7l intake manifold openings is 3” when I measured it at 2.5”. This causes an issue because it will disrupt the air flow if the opening of the intake manifold is smaller than the TB. Hopefully you can shed some light here for me so I can understand it more. FYI P/N Throttle Body I have from a 4.7l is 53032837AB.
The 4.7 throttle body will either have to be rotated 180 degrees or need 2 of the notches shaved down to fit. I installed a larger intake when I did the throttle body swap so I’m not sure about the sizing for that.
@@Notrailrated I get what you are saying which is still questionable. The way you have your 4.7l TB is how mine always have been. I did try to turn it in different directions but doesn’t resolve that the 3.7l intake manifold opening measures 2.5” and not 3”. From all the forums I read they say that all 3.7l have a 3” opening at the intake manifold. Not sure if that’s true now that I did my measurements. I might even make a video on it. I question this because both Commander and Grand Cherokee 3.7l engines have the same intake manifold part number. So nothing is different with the two models. I guess what I am trying to say is that hopefully everyone doing this TB swap are really measuring the inlet of their intake manifold and know that both vehicles with the 3.7l intake manifold measures 2.5” and NOT 3”. This will interrupt air flow and be pointless. Possibly lower power and create worse MPG.
Hey my man i’m looking at a commander 3.7 and the acceleration from what i’ve seen is just pitiful super slow any recommendations on a little bit more power?
What size hose/pipe and coupler did you use? I found a 4.7 TB for my 3.7 XK. I'm looking to get the needed hose and clamps before it arrives later this week.
Love the videos. Got a few questions though, I recently purchased a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 3.7 l. And it has a cable throttle body will be 4.7 cable throttle body fits on like the fly by wire throttle body and do the same thing? I'm assuming it will. Just wanted to check with somebody who has knowledge. Thanks so much keep up the great work

I got an 08 grand Cherokee 4” lift, what spacers and wheels u running because I was thinking putting 3” spacers but I’m not sure if that’ll cause speed wobbles
the v6 3.7 connector and the 4.7 connector are the same, so the 4.7 connector output must be the same as your model, so the 3.7 and 4.7 engines are similar and thus compatibility in the throttle bodies
@@Notrailrated do you happen to know the size of the hole? And where did yiu get the piping for the intake from the throttle body to the tube from the air filter box, the white tubing

Bigger fuel injectors and a tune will do it
If it ever doesn't want to shift correctly. Stop. Cut it off and restart the engine
My son just picked up an 04 liberty with the 3.7. What exhaust are you running. We'll look into the throttle body swap. What year is yours

So I’m assuming that this will not be possible on my Drive By Cable ‘05, even with a Drive By Cable 4.7 tb?
Sidestep Adventures I have that same question.
Same for my 04' Dakota. What a dog motor! 15mpg.
I done this swap to an 2008 Jeep Liberty and the lightening bolt flash’s then it’s gone again. Do you know what the problem is.?

Tried doing this and it didn’t work because there is two peg mounts were the throttle body mounts up to
I believe if you rotate the throttle body 180 degrees it should line up

Mine too, did you ever find out? I was curious myself.
Its all about the Torque
I’m definitely gonna try this w mine, I’ve been looking to see if I could put more hp on it
Can I put it on a 06 Cherokee or has to be 07?
Can the throttle body that you got fit on my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.7?
What program are you running? I'm looking at doing this to mine!
Does this mean my kn cold air intake won’t work unless it’s for the v8
No
It will still get more air
I tried to do what you did but the throttle body 4 bolt slot does not align how did you do it? Because the tb is bigger
Flip the throttle body 180 degrees

Do you recommend a tuner?
Would I be able to do a similar mod for a 3.7l liberty ?
What is the tune u keep referring too
What year is your jeep? And is that front bumper from the 2008 up models? I want to change my bumper to that one
It’s the 2008+ front bumper. You’ll need to upgrade to an 08+ grill & headlights to fit the newer bumper.

Yes sir 👍🏽
what mods for 5.7 Hemi do you know are worth it?
I have a 2006 v6 grand Cherokee and it doesn’t want to connect from the connector from the one your saying so how can I fix that
Are you talking about the wire connector that plugs into the throttle body? If so it definitely will disconnect but they don’t come off easily.
I have a 06 too our throttle body is a cable TB his is electric it won’t work
Do you have a lift and what size tires are those
Can we get a vid of how she sounds with these mods!?
Can this be done without a tuner? Not looking to mess with the computer.
Yes
What kind of headlights are those ?

about three fiddy

Can it do burnouts now is the real question
Hell no 😂 maybe when I put a locker in the rear lol 😝
Notrailrated gotcha😂 I found you from the liberty group chat .. keep us posted on mods though
With these mods on stock liberty tires I’m sure you could do a 2wd burnout
Notrailrated another thing I wanted to ask lmao , change the exhuast noise at all ?
Absolutely. It let all those Honda braps loose😂
Hey man, what tune you have?
I use the hypertech tuner featured in some of my earlier videos
Notrailrated how much gains did you get?
Can I use a 5.7 throttle body on a 3.7 ?
You know they are the same size tbs
The 4.7 Throttle Body is bigger
Dyno results?
I wish
-15 horsepower because now it's running lean, but it sounds so mean!
Where did you relocate your Mass Air Flow sensor?
I made a hole in my new intake with a rubber grommet that holds onto the MAF
