  • A short walk through video of how dock a big center console. The boat is a 41' Bahama Boat Works with quad 350 hp Mercury Verados. I figured this video could be useful to many people because once you step up to a boat this big and heavy, it is a lot easier to do a lot damage if the operator does not know what they are doing. You have to know what you are doing with big boats like this.

    Fantabolous, clip what I like the most is the fact that you simply provide needed information you do not make us suffer lame background music, nor do you waist any time by turning your clips into dramatic production. You clearly give us the needed information in two different ways so we can choose what we are comfortable with. You got my vote keep it up!

    Excellent!! To you youngsters out there if you don’t notice his skill at handling the boat then at least respect his slow approach. Even if the wind and current had been an issue he had the boat well under control!

      I appreciate the kind words! Slow and easy does it. The captain that I learned under always said "Fast goes crash. Slow goes bump. Never approach the dock faster than you are willing to hit it."

    One of the best docking vids I've watched. Excellent camera work andverbal instructions. The vid really helps me. I put this vid right up there with the Gale force twins, how to dock vid. Thanks so much for all your work presenting this.

    Thanks for posting this video. I only have a single outboard but learned a lot from watching this.

      Of course man and thanks for the kind words. A single outboard is going to be pretty much the same as using the wheel to turn. The only difference is that with a single you have to deal with prop walk. Two of my motors are counter rotating so they offset the torque from the other two motors. You don’t have that luxury with a single engine.

    That’s so sick🤙🏻 I’ve always wondered how you an your neighbor across the canal park those big boats in tight spaces. And well, here’s the answer lol. I have passed by ur boat many times. (that canal back there is one of my secret bait spots 😉)

    Good video. I would like to see a dual view of you working the throttles & the effect on the boats direction.

    The joy stick is a great feature

      I personally do not like the joystick at all, but it does make it easy for new boaters to jump up into bigger boats. The skyhook feature is about the only thing that I use the joystick for.

    Do you think of using a rudder with an engine? with engine use port-starboard only Which one is better?

    • @NickOlinde
      @NickOlinde  8 месяцев назад

      I don't think I fully understand what you are asking. Could you clarify? The lower units of the engines act as rudders when they are out of gear the water flow over the lower unit will turn the boat. When underway this effect is still there but the directional flow of the propellers facing different directions are what makes the boat steer. I do not understand the second part of your comment.

    Is your boat too big for a lift?
    Do you keep it in the water all year round?

      It is not! She stays on a lift year round. There is a lift right in front of where I was docking the boat for her.
