- I went trout fishing with powerbait power eggs! They absolutely slayed the trout! I couldn't keep them off my hook. As soon as I made a cast, the trout were biting. I caught a bunch of stocked trout and gave them away to a fellow fisherman. The powerbait power eggs are a stocked trout cheat code! If you want to catch some stocked trout, try this technique and give the powerbait power eggs a try. Hope you learn something from this video and I hope you are able to catch some trout! :)

Another great watch! You giving that guy some splits is one of the great things about this past time. Guys I’ve met will throw you some bait that’s working if you don’t have it or tell you they hit their limit 100 yards down from where you’re striking out and to head on down there. This video makes me want to catch stockies in my local pond again. I’ve been fly fishing in rivers a lot and the rainbows are just a lot bigger and wild.
Nothing beats wild trout in creeks/streams. But every now and then I like to throw it back. I grew up fishing for stockers in ponds/lakes

Exact rig I use. Also large nightcrawlers...that I inflate with a little bottle with small needle.. also use floatant liquid to help.. Love my setup, works very well.

Thank! This rig only works for stocked trout from my experiences. I've never caught a wild trout with it. Just make sure your pond/lake is stocked with trout, and this rig should definitely work.

man pink garlic power eggs are the juice at my local pond if you don’t bit when you hit the bottom you gotta change it i caught a 18 inch trout first cast on them
How do you manage to catch and release? Lately when I hook these fish using power eggs with an egg sinker they end up swallowing the bait. I've only had one trout out of a good 10 that got hooked on the lip. Any tips

Ive never used the eggs but I’ve used rooster tails corn, minnows, and night crawlers. But never the eggs. Plus I use the dough.
Interesting. Could do the same thing with a bait that doesn't float with a drop shot rig.

Thank you! I really want to go for steelhead and salmon. But it's like an 8 hour drive to fish for them. I've never fished for them so I don't know where to go or what to use. Hopefully someday I will be able to go after them.

We fished stocked rainbows in a lake one time where the ONLY thing they would hit were red salmon eggs. Exclusively. Nothing else. Not even different colored eggs.
And I do enjoy a good pansize trout... yum

Of course it works in a pond because they can't run far. But wonder if it'll work in stocked streams?
it definitely works in streams. I catch them in streams all the time on power eggs. Just use a small split shot about 10 inches above your hook and let it drift in the current.

not sure. But I've never caught a bass with them.

Another cool video hawk...are all the fish hooked in the mouth so you can release back safely or any swallow hook? I like to release as many as possible but can' if they swallow hook...
Most of the time they swallow it. Sometimes if you’re quick on the hook set you can hook them in the mouth. If they swallow the hook and you still want to release, just cut the line 1-2 inches outside of their mouth and release them immediately. They will be fine.

If I may say nice fish . But where I live and come from it's illegal to give the fish away and also the daily limit is 3 .
Put your bullet sinker with the tapered end towards the hook and it will be less likely to get hung up in the weeds on the retrieve. Fish on!

no. the length of the leader is based off the fact that trout tend to hang out close to the bottom of the pond/lake they're in.

My cheat code is a 5.5ft - 6ft leader of 4lb or 6lb Fluoro or p line cxx moss green mono leader, with a size 8 bait holder, or size 8 or 6 gamakatsu single egg hook with two rainbow or two orange colored power eggs on the hook, with hookpoint and barb exposed, absolutely killer on our stocked trout here in Washington, everyone gives me crap about using rainbow or orange colored eggs saying that their white or chart or pink is better but I’ve never had better success than on rainbow, that or a half night crawler blown up with air from a hypodermic needle, with or without one orange power egg. Sorry for TMI everyone but maybe this’ll help someone out there, and I don’t bother with the gulp or gulp alive eggs, they’re super fragile, to the point where I might as well use plain power dough lol
And I’ve been trying out size 10 or 8 gamakatsu octopus circle hooks with good success too, might have to switch over to them since they come in handy with easy hook removal, they’re just a pain to find in my stores, and size ten and eight mustad mosquito hooks are really warming on me too

btw you should try the opequon creek next time your in that area, caught a 3.13 lb rainbow out of there!
