”Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. That was good, But try this one on for size.
James has the same gospel as every other apostle. the answer is Simple. James is right, we just are not looking at it right. It has to do with the light of men and the verses about the candle being put under a bushel. Let's say someone receives the truth and is saved by faith. If he does not preach the gospel (Him already saved by faith) to anyone else, then no one else would receive the spirit upon believing in the gospel and therefore God could not bring anyone else to faith threw them. The saving faith would die with him (the one saved) being the last one saved... No one else would hear the good news and that would be it. All done. James is right and so is Paul. But it's not our work that saves, only our work that shines the light of God to the hearts of others to be saved by God, threw the Giving of the Gospel. It's a work of God that saves. We are just commanded to give the good news of Christ. If we fail in this, it does not mean we lose our salvation, we just don't receive reward in heaven for the doing it. I bet everyone thinks that when murder is mentioned as sin, we think "well at least I don't do that". If you are not giving the gospel to anyone, you may as well check that box too. It's the. to not give the lifesaving news of Christ to the lost, is in essence murder. Do you love your children, give them the gospel, otherwise, you may as well be Abraham, only you (not listening to God) don't stop before killing them.

True! I wonder if James could have written this with more detail and clarity for later readers. I’m sure his audience understood him, but it hasn’t aged well with debates and even warfare through the ages. Thankfully, Romans 4:2 explains this passage and I guess the Holy spirit accounted for this when the canon of scripture was completed. Even Luther couldn’t work it out!

Isn't God intentionally vague in the prophets? Did Jesus talk in code in front of the Pharisees in parables and explain everything to the disciples in private!
The question arises, why is God deliberately vague in James 2? He left enough rope for all those proud ones who want to hang themselves with it.

@@vinkosusac1130 Interesting ideas here! Yes, God breathed it and inspired it, but was James properly translated in the context of Paul’s writings for instance? Should extra details have been added to clarify the text so it harmonizes with Paul’s epistles? In many cases, scripture authors often left out details they thought were obvious, and in those days they were, but not to us now. There are even several Greek texts we have to choose from with translations, so while I take my hat off to the KJV scholars, could other details have been embedded into some verses?
Dr. Dennis Rokser has amazing teaching on this. Maybe instead of saying God was deliberately vague, maybe he allowed James to be vague and foresaw Romans being written to help clear up the confusion. He does his perfect work through imperfect people. God’s purpose will still prevail regardless of how skilled the authorship was. I also recall God is not the author of confusion. Still, aggressive debates continue even with Paul’s clear teaching and John’s Gospel and as you rightly said, the proud will find a lot of hanging rope in James 2! Hope you know I’m strongly free grace and strive to make sense of God’s word.

Great ilustration .i heard it rexently from heaven as I asked about the fruits . I was told by Jesus during my prayer :
The illustration of the vase filled of water - as the saved believer is represented filled at some level with the Holy Spirit . Contains the seed planted there , which becomes a small tree ( could be a cedar of lebanon, etc ) , then it grows into a big tall cedar of lebanon ( the jewish scholars said it represents the holy temple in scripture)... A big temple , which provides fruit to others ( men, animals, etc)
Then tall tree represents a grown spiritual child of God Saved by Jesus , nurtured by the Holy Spirit ( warring vs the antichrist spirit present in the world) and giving fruits of sanctification profiting others ( or not) . Fruits as well will have promised rewards for the believer ( in a wide sense , chastisement too) - including the blessing of them, physical protection, etc . This process takes time.

@@katdumore535 You're saying James was teaching the keeping of the law... *for what* specifically though? To be justified before God to eternal life? If James exactly was trying to be "a keeper of the law of Moses PLUS faith in Jesus" in order that doing so would make him justified to righteousness before God, then it wasn't by faith in Jesus at all. I do not agree that James is teaching following the law in order for a sinner to be justified to eternal life. Not for a Jew, not for anyone else, or at any time.
There is no going "from law to faith" as far as how to be justified to God's righteousness, keeping the law has *never* and could *never* justify a sinner back to God. If it were, then you WOULD have something to boast in (Ephesians 2:8-9). Romans is super clear that the law was a schoolmaster to show and bring people to Christ, and that all, both Jew and Gentile, have sinned, failed the law, are guilty before God, don't have the necessary righteousness, and need to rely by faith on the righteousness of *someone else* to make us righteousness before God.
      Romans 3:
19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
      21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
      23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
      25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
29 Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:
30 Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.
Romans 4 is very clear, that for Abraham (and David as well) his faith is what was counted for righteousness to be justified before God, and if it were works, he would have something to glory in, "but not before God".

James asks 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? Paul answers James's question in Romans 4:4-5 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh NOT, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

We all have works unless one hides out as a hermit and does nothing for the rest of their lives, but as the consequence of faith through the Free grace we have been given, we die to the sinful nature of old and become a new creature in Christ, through His molding and fashioning us into His character which is the obedience to His commandments. There is no salvation to those that don't keep His commandments, they lack faith because they are unfaithful.

No one else would hear the good news and that would be it.. All done. James is right and so is Paul. But its not our work that saves, only our work that shines the light of God to the hearts of others to be saved by God, threw the Giving of the Gospel. Its a work of God that saves. We are just commanded to give the Good news of Christ. If we fail in this, it does not mean we loose our salvation, we just don't receive reward in heaven for the doing it. I bet everyone thinks that when murder is mentioned as sin, we think "well at least I don't do that". If you are not giving the gospel to anyone, you may as well check that box too. Its the. to not give the life saving news of Christ to the lost, is in essence murder. Do you love your children, Give them the gospel, otherwise, you may as well be Abraham, only you (not listening to God) don't stop before killing them..

I was always curious on the book of James, he begins to start James 1 speaking to the 12 tribes scattered abroad. In Galatians 2, which confirms that no righetous acts of the law saves and how christ lives and works in us.
    Galatians 2:
7 But on the contrary, when they saw that the gospel for the uncircumcised had been committed to me, as the gospel for the circumcised was to Peter 8 (for He who worked effectively in Peter for the apostleship to the circumcised also worked effectively in me toward the Gentiles), 9 and when James, [c]Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that had been given to me, they gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised. 10 They desired only that we should remember the poor, the very thing which I also was eager to do.
Paul to the gentiles, and Petter, James, Cephas, and John to the jews? Ive always pondered on this and wonder if this is valid.
    Paul also states that:
There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. in Galatians 3.
If anyone can clarify it would be much appreciated.

Notice in his greetings that he is talking to saved brothers and sisters in Christ scattered abroad. And yes, as a saved christian we ought to be desciples of Christ not to earn, add, or prove our salvation in the eyes of God. But we ought to do good works that men may see our faith.

In James 2:14b, where we read, "can [such] faith save him?" (μη δυναται η πιστις σωσαι αυτον), the negative (μη) shows that there is a kind of professed faith that is _not_ saving faith. James calls it "dead" faith and argues that if it is ineffective in two ways i) It leaves needs around us unmet and ii) it cannot save. If we have saving faith, we _will_ be transformed (2 Corinthians 5:17), and that transformation cannot remain locked up, it will be seen in fruit and loving action.

The end of chapter 2 in James seems to be talking about justification. It seems that James is saying works and faith cannot be separated. Someone who has faith will live it out.
Paul is saying that Christ alone and His work alone saves us. If we see Jesus and believe in Him, we are saved.
Faith alone still stands! It’s just that our outward life will always reflect our inner faith.
Sidenote: if you struggle with sin every day, join the club! James is not saying you have to be perfect. You really don’t have to do anything. If you trust in Jesus then He will give us a new Spirit and good works will flow from us naturally as we are sanctified according to God’s will.

Interesting discussion here. Whether or not works flow naturally from a believer, it’s still faith alone in Christ alone. I would think that there would have to be some change with the holy spirit residing in a new believer, at least in thinking.
Anyway, whatever is the case, it’s still faith alone in Christ alone without works to be saved and stay saved! We should never have to worry about having works to be saved, otherwise salvation is no longer a gift. This is where the Lordship tribe fail in their theology!

    AMEN!
WHY DOES JAMES SAY, “FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD?”
The epistle of James was written to a group of people who were already children of God. James addressed them as brethren. In James 1:22,25, he went on to say to them, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves … But whoso looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed” (not saved) “in his deed.” Good works don’t have any part in making you a child of God, but they certainly determine whether you are an obedient child of God or not. Obedience results in God’s blessings in a person’s life, whereas, disobedience results in God’s chastening. It is not the person who knows God’s will that God is going to bless, but rather the one who does His will. The believers whom James was addressing were guilty of showing favoritism to the rich people who came to their assembly. They claimed to be loving their neighbors as themselves, but in actuality they were hypocrites. They were treating people differently because they didn’t have money or dress well (James 2:1-11). So James admonishes them, “So speak, and so do, as they that shall be judged” (literally, `as they who are about to be judged’) “by the law of liberty … What does it profit, my brethren, though a man says he has faith, and has not works? Can faith save him?” (James 2:12, 14). The Greek construction of the question, “can faith save Him?” requires a negative answer; therefore, the reply is, “no, faith alone cannot save him.” Now according to Ephesians 2:8, 9, in order to be saved, a person must have faith and no works; yet according to James 2:14, a person can’t be saved without works. Some people have tried to explain this away by saying that the faith that saves produces works; however, James didn’t say faith produces works; he said faith alone can’t save.
JAMES WAS WARNING OF IMPENDING DISCIPLINE
The problem is quickly solved when you realize that the word “saved” isn’t always used in reference to salvation from hell. In James 5:15 he uses it in reference to being saved from physical death, and in James 2:14 he uses it in reference to being saved from God’s discipline. James was warning of impending discipline the Lord was going to bring into these Christians’ lives. It is not the believer who talks the good talk who avoids God’s discipline; it is the believer who lives the good life. These believers talked about love but were not practicing it. James 2:15-17 explain, “If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, and one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be warmed and filled; notwithstanding you give them not those things which are needful to the body; what does it profit? Even so faith, it if has not works, is dead, being alone.” Words alone could not supply the needy believers with food and clothing. Telling someone who is cold and hungry to be warmed and filled is to do absolutely nothing for that person. To be of profit, those words must be accompanied by works. They were to supply food and clothing for those in need, not just talk, because, “faith, if it has not works, is dead, being alone.” These believers apparently claimed to have faith, but without works, that sort of faith could not save them from God’s judgment in their lives. That’s why James said, “So speak, and so DO, as they that shall be judged” (literally, `are about to be judged’) “by the law of liberty” (James 2:12). Now since James was addressing believers, he was not talking about their receiving judgment in hell. For the believer there is no such thing as coming into judgment as far as one’s eternal destiny is concerned. Christ said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, he who hears My word, and believes on Him who sent Me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation;” (literally, `judgment’) “but is passed from death unto life” (John 5:24). James makes it abundantly clear that he is speaking of faith in the Christian life, and faith in the Christian life will always manifest itself in works. A parallel passage can be found in First John 3:17,18, “But whoso has this world’s goods, and sees his brother have need, and shuts up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwells the love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” If I say I love fellow believers, yet when they are in need I don’t help them out, then in truth, I don’t love them.
BUT EVEN THE DEMONS BELIEVE AND THEY TREMBLE
Many times, those who think that one must submit to the Lordship of Christ in order to be saved will support their view by the passage in James which says the demons believe and tremble. James wrote, “You believe that there is one God; you do well: the demons also believe, and tremble. But will you know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?” (James 2:19, 20). People who use these verses to teach that it is not enough just to believe in Christ for salvation don’t realize what they are saying. First of all, there is a big difference between believing in Christ and believing that there is one God. Believing that there is one God is not going to save anyone - even the Jews who rejected Christ believed that. Second, why would James use demons as an example of saving faith when there is no hope of demons being saved anyway. The Scriptures teach that Christ didn’t die for angels (Hebrews 2:16). So James is not using the demons to prove that you have to do more than just believe in Christ to save you from hell. James was using satire to reprimand these disobedient believers. To paraphrase, he is saying, “Big deal if you believe in God, so do the demons. You can talk all you want about faith, but without works all your so-called faith is dead.” James continues by using Abraham as an example. Verse 21 states, “Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac, his son, upon the altar?” Now in Romans 4:3-5, Paul uses Abraham as an example of a man who was justified by faith alone, apart from any works. “For what does the Scripture say? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Now to him that works is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him who does not work, but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.” It sounds like a contradiction between Paul and James, but in reality, they are speaking of two different events in Abraham’s life. Paul, in the book of Romans, deals with the faith Abraham had which resulted in his salvation and James deals with the faith Abraham had which resulted in his friendship with the Lord. It was by faith alone that Abraham became a child of God, but it was by his faith and works that he became a friend of God. It is important to realize that there are more than thirty years between the two occurrences referred to by Paul and James.
Notice at what time in Abraham’s life he was justified by works. James 2:21 says, “when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar.” God had already promised Abraham that the Messiah was going to come through the line of his son Isaac. Isaac was unmarried at the time, and Abraham knew he would yet have to marry and have a child in order for God’s promise to be fulfilled. When Abraham was commanded by the Lord to offer Isaac as a burnt offering, he knew God wouldn’t break His promise and he trusted God to raise Isaac from the dead. And where did I get that? Hebrews 11:17-19 explain, “By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall your seed be called: accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead, from whence also he received him in a figure.” When God told Abraham to go and offer his son as a burnt offering, Abraham could have replied, “Now Lord, I know You’ve already promised to have the Messiah come through Isaac and I know You can raise him up from the dead, but there is no way I’m going to take his life.” Abraham could talk all he wanted about faith but the proof that he really did have faith was his works. Without the works, there is no faith. However, Abraham truly did have faith that the Lord would do what He promised as was proven by his obedience and Abraham “was called the friend of God” (James 2:23). Once a person is a child of God, he is always God’s child regardless of what he does (John 6:37). However, a person is not God’s friend unless he is doing the things God commands. Jesus Christ said, “You are My friends, if you do whatever I command you” (John 15:14).
Being God’s friend is synonymous with what the Bible terms “fellowship.” The word “fellowship” means “partnership” and conveys the idea of having things in common with another individual. Thus, a believer who claims to be having fellowship with the Lord and is living a life of sin obviously is not having fellowship. He will come under the chastening hand of God, but nonetheless, he is still on his way to heaven.
    😇

      @@7NorthStar
      Hi 7NorthStar.
Thanks for bringing up this topic...You give some very interesting insights about what seems to be a correlation with James and Mathew...but, no, these are two very different things James is dealing with believers in the Church age, and their walk with the Lord, but in Mathew he is dealing with the end of the tribulation period...The sheep and the goat judgment is also called the Judgement of the nations and Christ will separate the unbelievers from the believers. It just so happens that believers at that time will try to help Jews who are being persecuted and destroyed by the anti-Christ. Only believers will enter the Millennial Kingdom...Please read the study on this topic below...
      Judgement Of The Nations
“When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats (Matthew 25:31-32).”
Much confusion has surrounded the passage of Scripture in Matthew 24:31-46. The judgement of the nations is an event that will occur seven years after the rapture, immediately following Armageddon and the Second Coming of Jesus Christ to the earth. As Jesus Christ sets up His earthly (1,000-year kingdom), His first order of business is to judge the nations and eliminate the unsaved from entering the millennium.
Dr. C.I. Scofield reference Bible says, “This judgement is to be distinguished from the great white throne. Here there is no resurrection; the persons judged are living nations; no books are opened; three classes are present, sheep, goats, and brethren; the time is at the return of Christ; and the scene is on the earth. All these particulars are in contrast with Revelation 20:11-15.”
Let's take a look again at the scripture in Matthew 25:31-33. “When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.”
To the sheep Jesus will say, “Enter the earthly 1,000-year kingdom.” To the goats Jesus will say, “Depart into everlasting fire.” Notice Matthew 25:34, “Then shall the king say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.” Also notice Matthew 24:41, “Then shall he say unto them on the left hand, “Depart from me ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.”
In the Bible the sheep represent the saved and the goats represent the lost. The sheep are believers, and the goats are unbelievers. Notice what Jesus said in John 10:25, “But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.” And again, “I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. (John 10:7,14).” Therefore, Jesus said in John 10:26, “But ye believe not, because you are not of my sheep as I said unto you.”
Sheep are sheep by birth and goats are goats by birth. I say this because some try to imply works for salvation in Matthew 25 by pointing to the works of the goats and sheep. Thereby, they imply that one becomes a sheep or a goat by works and not by birth. The goats picture the unsaved, unregenerate lost, whose best works are filthy rags according to Isaiah 64:6. The sheep picture the believer in Jesus Christ, born again by the Spirit of God, who are now able to build works on the foundation of Jesus Christ, to be rewarded one day (I Corinthians 3:11-15).
Notice the phrase “the righteous” in verses 37 and 46. In Matthew 25:46 we read, “the righteous (shall go) into life eternal”. Please note Romans 3:10 where we read, “As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one.” We know that the believer is not righteous and cannot obtain righteousness by his deeds. Romans 3:20 says, “Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.” So, we learn that “even the righteousness of God which is by faith in Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that BELIEVE (Romans 3:22).” The only way for one to become “righteous” in God's sight is by faith. Therefore, “the righteous” in Matthew 25 are believers who are righteous by faith and not by deeds. “Therefore, we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law (Romans 3:28).”
This judgement of the nations will be a dark day for all the unsaved on the face of the earth. Listen to the prophet Zephaniah in Chapter 3:8. “Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the Lord, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour out upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.”
For the saved the judgement of the nations will be a wonderful day. Listen to the prophet Zephaniah 3:17, “The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in love, he will joy over thee with singing.” In Matthew 24:41,46, we have the awful condemnation of the unsaved. “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, depart from me ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:” and “…these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”
The “brethren” in Matthew 25 are the Jewish remnant that has preached the gospel to the nations during the tribulation. During the tribulation God is going to revert to using the Jewish people as His witnesses to the gospel (Isaiah 43:10). Those who respond to the message and become saved will love the Jew for bringing them the message of salvation (Romans 10:15) and therefore, they will not mistreat the “brethren”.
God tells us (believers) in II Corinthians 2:15,16, that “we are unto God a sweet savor of Christ, in them that perish: to the one we are the savor of death and to the other the savor unto life.”
The sheep will love and help the brethren because they appreciate the message of the gospel brought to them by the “brethren”. The goats, who reject the message of the gospel, will show indifference and hatred toward the “brethren”.
The sheep are believers. The goats are unbelievers. What are you? “He that believeth on Him is not condemned, but he that believeth not is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God (John 3:18).”
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved (Acts 16:31).”

There's several things in James that you left out to make your point. It doesn't just say faith without deeds can't help others. It says
"What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?"( James 2:14)
The person with the dead faith is the one who cannot be saved here. It's not that works save, it's that a faith that produces no works isn't real faith. The reason Abraham did the work of offering Issac is because he trusted God. If he'd refused, it would be being faithless and not trusting God, though in one act, not necessarily through an entire lifetime. No one can grow a flower without a seed, but if no flower grows there probably wasn't a seed to make it grow in the first place. If a person believes Jesus is who he claims to be, but wants nothing to do with him, or what he stands for, that's not what believing in him actually means.

I agree with you. I also think it needs retranslating, as it is so confusing, even Luther called it a Gospel of straw! As it is written, I can see his point. While James’s audience understood him perfectly, many readers now don’t! Thankfully, we have Romans 4:2, but most people do not have this insight and many Pastors will either play on fear or are also unable to explain this text.

    James 2:22
22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
In this verse it is important to see & understand that Abrahams Faith is what “WORKED” with Abrahams works. Faith in itself has the works needed to save. The Work that James describes in the verse “Faith without Works is dead” is the Work of God, which is Grace. Without Grace our Faith would be unfruitful. It is Faith that inherently Worketh or provokes the Patience, Mercy, and Compassion of the Father towards us, and without Grace Faith would be vain. But we must understand that Faith provides access to the working power of Grace. Simply there is no Faith without Grace because they are one: if you have the Faith then you have the Works of Grace upon you it’s a packaged deal. So Believe

Please can you answer this question in a future video? I had a brother who had a changed life after becoming a professing Christian. I do think he truly believed. Years later he had doubts in the existence of God after a professor at a Christian university put doubts in his mind about people never being able to be sure what actually exists and what is real. His Christian fiance left him because of it, he became a drug dealer, dabbled in satanism, and went missing over 20 years ago and is presumed dead, lost in the woods after pulling a hiking permit. If he no longer believed anymore, regardless of his sin, which we all have, is he in heaven? Similarly, my son , as a young adult, was also a professing believer and the theory of evolution and science caused him to doubt everything. Now he is a militant professing athiest and blasphemer of God. If he did once truly believe. and no longer does, was he ever a true believer and just backsliding now? Is he the weed in shallow soil? If he truly used to believe in the past and died now in his state he is in, would he be in heaven? Can a true son ever stop believing on Christ? Is it like stopping believing in Santa Claus for example?

It’s completely dependent upon the validity of their initial conversion. Meaning, did they genuinely trust in Christ alone when they first were “saved”. Undoubtedly, there are many false converts who appear to fall away from the faith, though in reality, they never believed from the beginning. I can’t attest to whether or not these individuals truly trusted in Christ alone. However, we can rest assured that those who do are eternally secure regardless of what may transpire in the future. Hope this helps!

After praying and doing a little studying of my own, I'd like to present a different interpretation on James (2:14) and that is that James is not addressing or speaking to believers, but addressing those who SAY (ESV) or CLAIM (NIV) to have faith. James sees that there are no works accompanying these individuals which is why he has brought up the topic. One doesn't bring up the topic of FAITH being DEAD to one who is living out their faith in obeisance. But you do bring it up to one who shows that their faith is indeed dead, an individual who has seemingly deceived themselves into believing that they are a believer when are actually not, because they are not bearing fruit.

James says my faith in Jesus is dead if I dont have works from what I understand his writings, I concluded he dont have Pauls revelation and is actually opposing that doctrine by saying even demons believes there is a God, he equates believers in Jesus to demons there from what I get into my own heart and I dont need to listen to him,we have Jesus.

@@billbill5396 pretty sure James is not talking about profession of your faith, why would you profess a faith with no works he could say that's why I go for only Paul as in acts those who listen to James told Paul to cut his hair which is proof their doctrine is by the law.

@@sigra4867 ? I never said he was, James is talking about following a commandment, because of faith. to preach the Gospel of Christ and not hide the truth given freely to us. we only came to faith by hearing the gospel and GOD DOING A WORK in our heart. if know one hears whom Jesus is, how would they come to believe in Him.. So He can do a work in there's? in this the faith of the one saved, would die with that person. He himself saved, but without spreading it than any faith he had would die with him.

Yes we should fast. It’s in a verse that was taken out of the new modern bible versions. That’s how you know there’s power in fasting and prayer

But the question James always puts forth in 2:14 but never gives an answer to is very confusing. Can faith without works save him?save him from what, Gaining salvation? what other answer could possibly be given other than eternal security. He never answers the question but uses an illustration that doesn't answer the question he asked.

JAMES DOESN'T SAY SALVATION WITHOUT WORKS WITHOUT IS DEAD. GET IT. Acts 16 [KJV]
[vs: 31] And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
[vs: 32] And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.
