I have been trying to learn how to braid my own hair for MONTHS off of these RUclips videos. BY FAR, yours was the most helpful and today is the first day I’ve actually completed a whole cornrow! You’re a great teacher and very detailed instructions. Thank you!!!!
Ill never forget the sense of accomplishment i felt when i taught myself to cornrow at 11 years old. Wouldve LOVED to have had your tutorial though.. (this was way before youtube.. hell way before computers and internet even😂😂😂) Good job👌🏾
Hands down! This was the best tutorial I’ve seen so far!! With your very detailed instructions I think I can master this over time! Thank you so much!!
For the longest time I couldn't figure out how to get the very first part of the cornrow to look good, and through your tutorial I just realized that it is because I wasn't crossing UNDER the middle strand in the beginning! I was crossing the first and second strand (the one on the left and right). I just tried it your way and voila, I got it!
3:36 (commenting that cause I know I'm going to need to hit replay more than I'm going to admit LOL) Update: Thank you Seun!! You actually explined it at just the right pace, I got it on my second try and the first time alone I was really close. I hope girls get impressed that a male like me knows how to do good father stuff like braid hair and cook one day lol
About to turn 25 and I have yet to perfect the technique to get a tight and even cornrow. WHEN I TELL YOU within the first 3 minutes of seeing your hair placement technique I got it! This was seriously my ONLY issue. I did not know what placement was the best for me and I've watched so many videos, yours has helped me the most by far. Thank you so much! -A newly cornrolling black girl
I've watched many videos and no one taught it like you did. I always tend to under braiding which doesn't look so good. I'm going to try this after I wash my hair and hopeful I get it
You are a Godsend. I’ve been trying to figure out how to cornrow for years, but could never understand where/how to put my hands. Your video is hands down the best on RUclips. THANK YOU!!!
This was very detailed and definitely helped but I'm struggling with the grabbing , and I know the grabbing is what makes the cornrow but any tips to help??
Thank you so much for this video. I had been struggling to figure out how to cornrows for years and withing the first minute and 17 seconds you had helped me to learn how to do it so thank you so much!!!!!
I've watch cornrows tutorials in the past and yours by far is the MOST helpful. My wash day is tmrw and I can't wait to practice and try it out😊😊Thank you so much love. God bless you🙏🙏
This video should be the top result. This is THE quality tutorial. Soooooooo in depth. You showed us the finger movements CLOSELY & actually walked us through how the hand movements should go, how to maneuver the hair, how to weave in more hair, how to keep it tight & close to the scalp. This is just a really amazing tutorial. It is ABSOLUTELY for beginners. Thank you SOOOOOOO MUCH! I really feel like I KNOW what my hands & fingers should be doing so that I can watch myself & know if I'm going astray. I finally feel like I can honestly try, practice & move to mastering this skill. Girl you are so good!!! 😩🙌🏽💕
Wow thank you so much, this has to be the best tutorial ever. The way you explained everything made it so easy to follow, most tutorials they just tell us to braid close to the scalp
I don’t know why people find it weird that I can cornrow my own hair but I can’t cornrow on people’s hair. I started braiding my hair when I was 8 and I have been doing it ever since but I’ve never laid a finger on someone’s head.
Dark Matter it’s weird because when your doing someone else’s you don’t have to worry about how to position your hands as much and you get a clear view of what you are doing
Dark matter I'm the same way. It's easier for me to braid my own hair than others. And people expect me to be able to do their hair just because I can do mine. Even though it's a completely different way of braiding.
this is the best tutorial on youtube. i actually understand how to cornrow now thanks to this video. i also understand i need to do arm workouts cuz my arms get so tired lol it looks sloppy now but i know it will only get better with time. new subscriber.
GOD BLESS YOU!! For someone that knows nothing but a box braid this really helped. The key to braiding is FINGER POSITIONING and I wish I knew that before!
I never thought I could do it, but I did it!!! It took me 3 hours to learn, and then 3 hours to do my head. They’re really rough, but they laid flat enough!!!! Thank you so much
I love you so much I think if I keep watching and practicing I’ll really get it I’ve been looking at other videos and getting frustrated but you make it simple and helpful
This video made me realize I've been doing it wrong since I taught myself at age 10 (I'm 19 now). It's like having bad handwriting and then being told in high school that you've been holding the pencil/pen wrong the whole time, LOL. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for teaching the grip in such a simplified way! I was literally trying for weeks and after watching this one time only i managed to do the entire thing and all thanks to the technique of the grip. This was soo helpful♡
Thanks soooo much 😭I’ve always played in my hair but never knew how to cornrow at allll. Literally from the hand motions mentioned i got it in about 5 minutes! Nothing but up from here!
honestly, this is the best tutorial I've seen on youtube by far. I'm 12 (almost 13) and I want to start doing my own hair than having my mom do it for me and with a little practice from your video, I believe ill be able to get the hang of it :)
This is the best cornrow tutorial I've seen. All the while I had been braiding my hair with both hands to one side of my head which was so stressful. When I watched this video I got it in one try. Thank you so much, Seun, for this video
You are the bomb dot com! You have shown me better than anyone how to cornrow. I’m trying this after I wash my hair next time. Thank you for posting this video!!
This helped me so much I had a cornrow after the first step when she taught me how to braid it properly I've been trying to learn for years and people would explain how and i never understood but now I do thank you so much
Omg I finally get it! I have watched every video on RUclips but none of them show the braiding part at the beginning like you did to show us exactly what fingers go where and what they do. You have made it so easy to learn. Thank you so much!
Omg! I'm so happy I was able to find a tutorial to help me lear. How to position my fingers while grasping hair to braid!! Thank you so much!!! I finally got it!!!
Girl i have been watching videos for months on how to do this. So i can braid my bfs hair. Such a good tutorial. My gingers would get twisted and I couldn’t figure out how to hold the hair right. I was a mess. Your video was very clear, upclose, and you explain everything awesome. Thank you.
I am most definitely going to use this video to learn how to cornrow. I just learned how to do french braids in my hair. I suggest learning french braids first then cornrow, only because with French braiding it's pretty much the same braiding pattern, but bigger sections just to get the feel of braiding. Thank you for this video, I may be doing an update comment when I master this! 😊
Looks like everyone braids under and I braid over if that makes sense..watching the hand positions looked confusing..I think it's ok if people's fingers move different just as long as the hair is moving correct
That's a french braid. You need to go under to do cornrows because they are Dutch braids. Trust me if you did cornrows as French braids they wouldn't look the best.
Thank you so much, now I understand how to cornrow and I actually did some on my head yesterday. I'm about to re-do one braid that didn't came out very good. I'm really thankful for this video, because of you I am learning how to cornrow. My dream is to cornrow my whole head
Your braiding tutorial is literally the best at explaining how to practice every step to corn rowing! 💗 I'm finally getting it! Thank you so much for sharing.
This video is really helpful since I'm still kind if young and I'm just learning how to braid my hair myself so I\m going to keep practicing and hope I can get it
Wow, literally cornrowed our hair this the best cornrow tutorial on youtube! Had to watch it in 0.25x then 0.50x then we got it. Actually shocked how quick we were able to learn it so quickly! Thumbs up American sister peace love and light to you! Now to later look to see if you have any other hair tutorials for virgin hair. =)
No lie I literally got my little sister as a doll and learned how to cornrow. I’m 18 and I FINALLY know how to do it and I’m so happy thank you sis 😔❣️❣️
Wow, this is amazing i feel like i will master this with time. Thank u for this tutorial. Best tutorial video on conrows so far,. I am a fan n subscriber already much luv from🇿🇦 South Africa
coming back to this video to eventually learn (my hair is in flat twists/twists right now), bc i forgot i saved it, and every other cornrowing video i found only confused me more when i tried to follow them (or weren't doing it on theirselves). this one breaks it down way easier than the other ones as well, i feel like i'm understanding it more even tho im just watching.

I love how she takes her time to actually break down the steps play by play.
Thank you!
This is probably the only video that shows how to do cornrows without fast forwarding or doing it in a bad camera angle. Thank you for this video!
You are a Godsend. I’ve been trying to figure out how to cornrow for years, but could never understand where/how to put my hands. Your video is hands down the best on RUclips. THANK YOU!!!

Darling I am 32, I am left handed and braid under handed(learned that at 30!)....you just taught me! Now to try on someone else! Thank you! 😘
