You are the first to actually "TEACH" how to do a flat twist. I was struggling with flat twists because non of the other RUclipsrs I watched knew how to teach.
THANK YOU! Hands down this is the best flat twist tutorial I've seen. And I've watched a ton! People don't know how to keep their hands out of the way. Thank you for making a video where beginners can actually see what you're doing. Genuinely appreciative 🙌🏾
Shiyla Terry Fr!!! Half of these girls don't even explain what they're doing in their "how-to's"! Truly appreciate someone *actually* teaching me how to do this lmao
Omg i thought i was the only one who thinks this is the best flat twist tutorial for beginners on youtube. Ive wanted to learn how to flat twist and ive watched tons of videos but their fingers are everywhere u cant see what they are doing. But this is sooo damn clear. Woohoo on my way to try out a flattwist right now😊
Step 1: Get tapered short nails lol Step 2: Repeat "Scoop up Hair" Step 3: Go slow and give yourself and your hair grace!!!!! #Success #Mindblown THANK YOU!!! Great teaching
LISTENNNNNN. I have been trying to learn to do a decent flat twist for YEARS. Always looked like absolute crap. Based on all the rave comments on your video I saved your tutorial a few weeks ago (with the lowest of expectations for my own ability to follow along). Finally decided to go ahead and follow along today, not even in front of a mirror, because it was just practice - and for the first time ever I got a presentable flat twist! On the first try!!! I am in SHOCK! Seriously, best tutorial ever.
this is honestly the best flat twist tutorial. every other person has their hands in the way, goes too fast, or sucks at explaining smh. i love how you showed different twisting directions too!
This is THEE hair tutorial oh my GOD. I think I’ll finally be able to succeed at this 😂. I’m going to try this as soon as I get my hair products in the mail. Farewell dookie twists! 👋🏾😂.
okay so i have like 4a/4b hair and ive been trying to learn how to do flat twists for a looong time and even with all the other tutorials ive seen on youtube, hers is by far the one that made me learn it. i immediately got up and tried it and the first time it was hard because like you said, the middle parts are harder to grab with one hand, but the second time i tried it on that same half of my hair and i literally couldn’t believe i actually did it! but the other side took like 40 min cause i literally couldn’t do it on that side, like i forgot ? 💀 but thank you so much:) now i know how 🥰🥺
Maaaaan, I’ve been practicing for 2 days and still can’t get this! I know I will though, I’m determined! Plus, I really don’t think there’s a better flat twist tutorial out there. Very well done. Thank you sis!
Best flat twist video I have seen, she is not selfish with clear explanations, well done girl. I watched the video only twice and went straight to practice on my kids doll hair, guess what? Peerrrrrffecto. I used the finger I was most comfortable with which is my thumb to scoop more hair unlike her using her index finger to do so as she continues twisting. Thank you very much for this video.
Thank you so much. I've been natural of and on since 2011 and never really did my hair because my mom would always do it. And now that I am a mother with a mixed race child I really need to step up my game because I can't be letting her run around with wild hair.
I love how simple and straight to the point your videos are without all of the extra-ness and unnecessary lip service that some RUclipsrs give. This is the best. Please keep doing the videos nice how you do it.
Best tutorial ever! I have three daughters and I’m not that great at doing hair. You explained everything so well and after a few tries on my own hair, I was able to do it. I couldn’t believe it. lol. My little one will have a new hairstyle for pre-k this week! Thank you😘
Something told me to get up and try this AND I GOT IT ON THE FIRST TRY OMGG! I just kept repeating scoop up hair 😭. I’m forever grateful that I came across this video, THANK YOU SM
Oh, thank you. I couldn't get this to save my life, but thanks to your video, I am quite confident that I can get it now! You are highly appreciated!❤❤❤❤
I just typed in “How to do flat twists”.. I have been looking for a GOOD vid for a few years now. I decided to give it another try..and FINALLY 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉Someone that knows what they are doing! THANK YOU! You are GENIUS!!! ✨🌟⭐️🌠
I don’t care how long this is gonna take with my hair. I’m gonna learn how to flat twist and do my own hair until I never have to go back to a hairdresser again. Especially since I’m a broke as hell college student lol. I need to save all the money I got. So this weekend, I’m gonna do this no matter how difficult it may seem, I’m doing this
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I initially saved this video for later because I tried to do a flat twist on my own for the last hour but could not get it down and I was feeling kind of hopeless but I was determined bc it looked easy. Went to the mirror and got it on the second try!! Thank you again!
Oh my gawd, something sooo simple. Is sooo hard, i just cant get it! Did it all the time on the barbie as a kid, thought i was french braiding😹. Im going to keep trying
What? White people just call it twists for the most part. Obviously, many people can have different names for the same thing. Don't even know why you had to bring white people into this...but go off I guess.
She is so nice to us naturals. No one zooms in and slows down so we can see what the heck is going on. I am truly grateful. You have no idea how much your video helped me. You don’t even know how helpful you are doing it like this so we can learn. Bless up!
Shiyla Terry you took the words right out of my 👄. This was the best tutorial on flat twists eeeeevvvvvveeeerrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im subcribed.😍
I love how I can see actually what are you doing and get a detailed explanation. Usually only hear the explanation but I can’t always see what they are doing. Teaching my daughter how to do her natural hair and you guys have almost the same texture. Thank you sooo much!🥰
Do you always braid your hair on wash day and let it dry and then style? Because I always attempt to style on wet hair and it comes out like crap even though I have seen some who can do it but I'm talking about doing like corn rolls or big twists. I can do a wash and go of course on wet hair and a braid our or twist out on wet hair.
for me, styles always come out worse when it's wet so once i've rinsed out my deep conditioner, I part my hair in sections (8 or 6) and cream it (LCO or whatever i'm feeling) and then I braid it. I leave it in braids for a day to let it dry and then i take out those sections and do cornrows from there. It looks MUCH neater than doing it on wet hair. I also spray it with water and essential oils to keep it hydrating until my next wash day (as well as oiling my scalp at each part) hope this helps x
I always braid my hair into chunky braids after washing and allow it to dry. Once my hair is dry I take down the braids and then style. It’s so much easier that way x
It's not as easy as it looks! It gets very confusing when her fingers start grabbing hair and she separates it in a weird way then somehow incorporates it to the twist.
Finally 😩!!! Whenever I do flat twists, I'd get one good one and the rest look bad. By saying "scoop up, twist then join" it helped me to be consistent with my twisting movements. Now I have a hairstyle consisting of four large flat twists and in the nick of time because I'm going to go on the road soon. Thanks so much for making this video.
I can't make a flat twist look nice like that in the front of my head anymore😭, I loss my edges after I had my daughter. I'm currently waiting for them to come back🤨
This video was so helpful as someone who had 0 experience with this, I watched and practiced a few times, now my in laws asked if I took my girls to get their hair done 💁♀️ thank you!
Maam. THANK YOU for this video. I couldnt flat twist the left side forward for 5 years literally. I would have my right side twists towards my face and the left side twists away from face 😅 But After 2 tries just now, I started repeating what you said and got it. Im so grateful for the internet and you for posting this.
this video needs more recognition!!! I've been practicing and finally know how to flat twist. I'm still working on my left but this totally helped. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
Thank you for this tutorial it is the easiest, two strand flat twist video out there. I am all thumbs when it calms to doing flat twist, but your instruction is so straight to the point and easy to follow..
19th October 2024: I finally learnt how to do a flat twist on my own hair. Yippee!!!🎉🎉🎉💃💃💃🤭☺️😃 Thanks to your video. I tried for six days straight before finally getting it. Thank you so much. The best flat twist tutorial yet. 👍🙌 I started with the whole half of my hair and it was easy once I got it. 😊
This video needs more views, its rare that you find someone that goes straight to the point, and makes everything seem so effortles.

Anyone's brain just disconnect with thier hands/Fingers when tryna Twist Up?
The twist forward is easier to do although I much prefer the look of the twist backwards.
Yes my fingers are so uncoordinated 😫
