@@Karina-zg2ne yes thank you I watched no lie about 15 videos yesterday I'm going to try again in a day or two. I didn't understand if they were saying add the hair to the left and right sides like you're saying or add to the middle only cause one video I saw did it that way and that's how I did it the few times I tried and it's okay but not great
As a man I've always wanted to know how to braid so I could braid my future wife's or daughter's hair... I should add that it's a good feeling knowing you're not the only one frustrated with trying to learn how.
I can braid others but doing mine has me ready to press the button to the nuclear codes. Parting my own hair straight is extremely difficult and annoying.
Jazzy Legacy Damn I laughed at your comment and then did the exact same thing haha. I started trying to grab the three strands and was like “whew I don’t understand. I quit.”
I've came to the realization that I just dont know how to hold the hair. It's like my fingers have a mind of their own, then the hair gets tangled and loose. At that point, I give up hope lol.
it's rare that i leave comments.. however, this video was extremely helpful. i've been trying to learn how to cornrow for years and i finally got it after watching this video countless times and practicing over and over... within about 5 hours i was able to understand and get comfortable with the movements. i appreciate that you broke it down step by step and taught good skills from the beginning because my 3 cornrows came out fairly neat and tight from the start. that sets this video apart from many others i've watched. i will definitely send my non braiding friends to see this video because it helped so much. for those still struggling.. i think it's helpful to walk into this with a positive mindset. pay attention to your errors and focus on working on that part before moving on. you can control your frustration by practicing deep breaths and taking breaks when you get overwhelmed. lastly, practice consistently and you will get it. if i can, then you absolutely can too. happy braiding
Wow. I am so happy that you were able to learn from this video! Thank you for such a detailed helpful comment that will no doubt give others hope! Happy braiding 💛

So true! I just came from watching this other tutorial where the girl was saying she’s “using her right hand”, but it looked like the left. 😑 Like girl, don’t confuse me more than I already am, please.
I just cornrowed my hair for the first time EVER thanks to your video!!!!! I never thought I would be able to do such a thing but your video really taught me how to do so 🤩 Non-braiding naturals hold out hope! It might’ve taken me 23 years but I finally learned how to cornrow lol
I had given up trying to Cornrow my own hair but I wanted to crochet my own hair so bad so I watch your video and attempted one more time....... and I DID IT! I'm glad to know I'm not the only black woman who doesn't know how to cornrow her own hair 🤦🏽♀. I have twin sisters who are younger than me and they both know how. i’m almost 23 years old n i’m getting embarrassed by how many hair tutorials i’ve had to watch in my life💀 but this is probably the best tutorial so far!!! i really appreciate showing a correct method regardless of skill level so that if i practice (and learn how to connect my hands to my brain) i can actually make my hair look decent❤️❤️❤️
I watched this on my fire stick but had to come on my phone to leave a comment. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I’ve been trying to learn to cornrow for years but could never get it right. They were always loose and messy. Watching your video helped me get it right! My cornrows are neat and pretty thanks to you. This video is gold.
You are literally the only person I’ve watched that teaches the parting technique. I’ve noticed there was something different about the parting and braiding but I couldn’t figure it out by myself. Thank you so much, I’m definitely gonna practice
I just wanted to drop you a quick note to say a huge thank you for your amazing tutorials on doing braids! I’ve been trying to master the technique for the past four days, and thanks to your guidance, I finally managed to braid my entire head. I’m absolutely thrilled with the results! For anyone else trying to learn, don’t get discouraged if it takes a bit of time. Keep practicing and don’t hesitate to take breaks if needed. Once you’ve got the basics down, try not to overthink it. Believe in yourself and you’ll get there! Thank you so much again for your help and for making such clear and helpful videos! THANKS FROM FRANCE ! 🇫🇷 (les français cette vidéo et la best vraiment essayer !!)
I've rewatched your video at least twenty times and I can finally do this! Thank you. I found your video to be really clear and with practice I'll get better!
I have to say I have watched A LOT of how to cornrow ur own hair videos and this one is THE BEST! I was always confused about how to use my fingers and now I finally understand because of u! U explain and show what to do and how to do the absolute best So I thank u so so much 💯 thank God I found u! Thank u thank u thank u for making this video U ARE AWESOME!!!
I never learned how to cornrow cause it was always done for me. I regret that. Now I'm learning. It's all lumpy and ratched looking 😂😂😂 but I got the technique down. I'm getting there people. Still learning.
This is honestly the best tutorial ever. I'm 24 and I decided today is the day that I learn so that I can start doing sew-ins on my head and stop doing flat twists under my wigs. Thank you so much. I'll let you know how this works out!
So first of all, thank you! This the BEST tutorial I have come across. I was sold once you flipped the perspective and did the mirror effect. It made it make sense and able to grasp the concept A LOT easier. It's going to take some practice but thank you for taking the time out to make this video. Also your hair is beautiful!!!
OMG!! After several years of trying to cornrow with no success, I finally got it!! Thank you so much!! You are the first person that explain the theory so well ❤️
There are so many videos out there for cornrowing and this one is by far the best. This technique is the easiest, I've been so frustrated watching videos and I'm so happy I came across this one, especially because you flipped the camera. I'm actually doing it!!! Thank you so much!
The camera flip, so that the viewer could mirror you, was such a helpful way to make this video more accessible to those of us that have problems with patterns. Also calling attention to which of your hands was the right and left was critical as well as showing which fingers were important and why.
THANK YOUUUUU!!!!!! I can do a lot of things, but cornbraids have never been among my skillset! I could plat and French braid someone else’s hair, but never my own. I took my sew-in out so that I could wash my hair. I’ve relocated to a new area and the one lady I met who agreed to braid my hair for me so that I could put my sew-in back in blew me off. So, my last ditch effort to get my hair looking acceptable again was to find a tutorial on RUclips. Thank God this video was close to the top!!! The last time I braided my own hair and did my sew-in it took me 12 hours over 2 days and my braids were unraveling- it was awful. After watching your video, I cornbraided my whole head (except for the leave out) in 3 hours. Ma’am, you’re a Godsend- I could kiss you! LoL You’re an awesome teacher and you’ve got a new subscriber!
flipping the screen made so much of a difference and they way you explain is so easy to understand thank you so much!!!!! I feel like i can finally do it!!!
it's really just like drawing, the more you practice, the better it'll look! watched this video weeks ago and practiced a lot since and i can finally cornrow !
Cornrows tight to the scalp, were always a challenge for me. I watched this video yesterday and cornrowed my entire head in preparation for these crochet passion twists I'm adding back (I went to get my hair crocheted two weeks ago and within a week they were falling out.) I'll never have to pay to get crochet again. Thank you for the amazing lesson!
I didn't learn how to do even the most basic braid until I had my first daughter at 28 years old. Nobody ever showed me and we didn't always have videos like this.
After years of watching videos showing me how to cornrow, I was finally able to get it down after watching this! Thank you! One braid down, the rest of my hair to go XD
Needed my hair braided for my wig but Hair stylist canceled 4 hours before my party. Out of all videos this one was the BEST!!! It took my 3 hours to do 10 braids but I was able to learn with is technique. I’ve never braided hair before I’ve always wanted to learn. Watching this literally taught me how to braid hair for the first time. THANK YOU !!!
I've been watching this video so many times... Like since June and only today I got my first cornrow😭😭😭😭😭😭I struggled but watching this video over 100 times helped
THANK YOU SO MUCH! You are the 1st person I've watched (and trust me, I've watched A LOT) that I can actually understand and follow! God bless your soul!!!
🫣 I have been a Hair factory for 10 years and I did not practice like that before ,It’s so much skills !! Everyday I just deal with hair customers and ship hair for them , you can’t believe in China 🇨🇳 we don’t have that skilled workers ! I would share your videos to my Hair customers and let them learn too ! ❤️
So glad you did it with no gel no edge control no hair extension. That's exactly how I usually cornrow my hair: only using my hands even without a rattail comb I know how tough it is. respects my friend
Just what I was looking for! My hands naturally want to use the middle finger to grab hair they way you do. So glad I found your video to help improve my technique 🥰.
Yeeesss girl! I've tried several times doing it in front of the mirror without success and I finally got it when I was watching TV, only paying attention to my fingers
Sis I could kiss you! I haven’t got it 100% yet buttt the progress is real! Few more tried and I should be there. Anyone watching, a tip that helped me was to slow this video down a bit using the settings button. I also listened to what she said and closed my eyes and did a few (this is because there’s times I thought I was doing it right but then when I just listened to what she said, I clocked I wasn’t!) Hope this helps 😌 I’ll be back to watch your other videos when I’ve conquered this one 😅
I watched tons of RUclips tutorials. I finally know how to do it because of you. Hand positioning is the key. If you can angle your hand like what she does it will go automatically. It took me almost 1 month. I almost go bald in the front because my hair are falling from practicing. 😂😂😂 thank you.
Ummmm, so you're actually amazing. This video was so helpful. I've been struggling to learn to cornrow for years, but the way you described your method made it make sense. Thank you so much!!! 5 stars!!! Please never delete this video lol
I've been trying to learn how to braid my own hair for ages. I think you have some good tips in here and I'll definitely try it. Thank you very much Aida
It helps to watch the non-talking one first, then this one. It actually made more sense to me to see it first followed by the detailed explaination. Thanks sis!!
I have watched several videos to try and learn so with all due respect to the other creators, this was the only successful tutorial that worked for me. I fully understood everything omg, thank you so much xx
I never understood how corn-rows works, it seems like magic to me. I did it for the first time on myself, thanks to your instructions!, you're an Amazing teacher! Thank you for sharing your insights!
The reason we have two different words for the same style is based on the food con-sealing in the hair style during slavery. corn 🌽 🌾 was there largest export in America and sugarcane was the largest import from Jamaica. So we have Cornrow and Canerow
I'm gonna practice on my wife. I just had a friend do my hair so I can't try on mine yet. This is without a doubt the best explained (for the smooth brained like myself) to explain how to keep the braid traveling. Not just and individual twist.
‼️ ATTENTION ‼️ For those who learn better from watching (rather than a step-by-step tutorial), I have a new tutorial. Watch exactly how I cornrow here ruclips.net/video/pRieHi-Jukc/видео.html

The mirror can confuse you, don't look at the mirror when you braid just look at it when you need to grab more hair or to see how you doing

I love that Londoners say canerow! It's something Jamaicans brought over. It's cool how so much of our slang is used in London.
Yeah it wasn't until a couple years ago that I realised how much of an influence Jamaicans have had on our vocabulary. It really is a beautiful thing
It's like that in Canada too..so much Jamaican patois is embedded into Canadian slang
jayariuh we didn’t ‘take’ their slang. That’s what happens when a place is colonized
We say that in Trinidad and Tobago too!
It’s a Caribbean thing.. not just Jamaica.. in Trinidad we say ‘Canerow’ also

Rubaida Allen 🤣😂

Listen 😂😂😂
WOW I watched this and got it down immediately!!! The in-depth description of what each finger is always doing helped SO much!!
I LITERALLY LEARNED AFTER THE FIRST 5 MIN OF THE VIDEO IM SHOUTING THANK YOUUUUUUU‼️🤎✊🏾
Your hair is beautiful. God bless it and you. Thanks for the tutorials.
Middle finger grabs what index and thumb are holding. Exactly what I needed to understand! Thank you a thousand times.
The camera flip, so that the viewer could mirror you, was such a helpful way to make this video more accessible to those of us that have problems with patterns. Also calling attention to which of your hands was the right and left was critical as well as showing which fingers were important and why.
This is the first cornrow tutorial that actually worked for me! Now look, my first one was a struggle braid but I see the progress okayyyy.
This actually worked for me, now have my hair in cornrows! Little messy but I’m sure I’ll get better over time. Thank you!!!
Cornrows tight to the scalp, were always a challenge for me. I watched this video yesterday and cornrowed my entire head in preparation for these crochet passion twists I'm adding back (I went to get my hair crocheted two weeks ago and within a week they were falling out.)
I'll never have to pay to get crochet again. Thank you for the amazing lesson!
I can braid someone else's hair.... but braiding my own hair has me feeling like I should never have been allowed to graduate middle school
🤣🤣🤣
I didn't learn how to do even the most basic braid until I had my first daughter at 28 years old. Nobody ever showed me and we didn't always have videos like this.
The hair looks so soft and moisturized.
I literally had a whole breakdown because I don’t know how to grab the three strands
I watched tons of videos this was the only one that helped 😭❤❤Thanks!
Gracias! For the first time in 27 years I was able to conrow all my hair! Quarantine has forced me to learn so many things
Greeeaat tutorial❣ One of the best if not the best I've seen so far. This is exactly what I've been looking for, step by step in details. Thank you.
You have to let your hands have eyes that your fingertips see. Sometimes when you do your hair it's sometimes close your eyes and feel your hair.
viviana hernandez facts
Yea true because whenever I look in the mirror I just get confused
I do better just feeling with my hands
Yeeesss girl! I've tried several times doing it in front of the mirror without success and I finally got it when I was watching TV, only paying attention to my fingers
Thanks to you, I did my first successful cornrow. This is hands down the best video I’ve seen for beginners :):)
Definitely needed this for quarantine :,)
Sis I could kiss you! I haven’t got it 100% yet buttt the progress is real!
Few more tried and I should be there.
Anyone watching, a tip that helped me was to slow this video down a bit using the settings button. I also listened to what she said and closed my eyes and did a few (this is because there’s times I thought I was doing it right but then when I just listened to what she said, I clocked I wasn’t!)
Hope this helps 😌
I’ll be back to watch your other videos when I’ve conquered this one 😅
Nobody:
Me with 3c hair: **tries to braid**
My hair: Miss me with that sh*t
Try stretching your hair first
I watched tons of RUclips tutorials. I finally know how to do it because of you. Hand positioning is the key. If you can angle your hand like what she does it will go automatically. It took me almost 1 month. I almost go bald in the front because my hair are falling from practicing. 😂😂😂 thank you.
Thank you!! I think I finally understand!! Now actually doing and perfecting it is another story 😁
Best Tutorial on how to do cornrows by far! Thank you 😘
Ummmm, so you're actually amazing. This video was so helpful. I've been struggling to learn to cornrow for years, but the way you described your method made it make sense. Thank you so much!!! 5 stars!!! Please never delete this video lol
Omg your hair is sooo beautiful
Thank God I found you. Been yearning to learn how to braid. Got the right channel. Thank you siz.
At this moment I realized that i´m gonna treat myself and someone is going to do my hair for me
I have watched several videos to try and learn so with all due respect to the other creators, this was the only successful tutorial that worked for me. I fully understood everything omg, thank you so much xx
I know how to cornrow but my problem is making it grip on the scalp and be straight it always comes undone after 5 minutes
Ropafadzo Manyowa you have to make your grip closer to your head, I had this problem before. Hope this helps :)
This was the best version of self cornrow I’ve seen. Thanks love.
I feel like such a fake black girl for not knowing how to cornrow my own hair. 😩🥴
u not alone sis ive never known how to even to a basic french braid i’m my hair😭why was i not blessed with braiding hands
same im worried im going to become too old one day 😭
no absolutley not i feel like most of us dont even know how to either
Sameee😭😭😭😭
Same girl 😭
I'm black and almost every fellow black girl around me can braid their own hair
I never understood how corn-rows works, it seems like magic to me. I did it for the first time on myself, thanks to your instructions!, you're an Amazing teacher! Thank you for sharing your insights!
The reason we have two different words for the same style is based on the food con-sealing in the hair style during slavery.
corn 🌽 🌾 was there largest export in America and sugarcane was the largest import from Jamaica. So we have Cornrow and Canerow
I've been watching this video for the past year and a half over and over again and I think I am starting to get the technique down!
Looking forward to part 2 and 3, I really need them
This is the only video that got me to successfully braid my own hair ... thank you. From a leftie 🥲😂🥰
Glad I could help! 💛
This video helped me learn how to braid closer to my scalp 😭😭😭
"And make it look like your reflection... Is me!"
This is the most beautiful reflection I've ever seen 😭❤️😍
When you finally make a perfect part without trying but it’s in the wrong place 😭
These people know what pain is lmao
He may
🧟♀️👣🗣👮👮♂️👳🏿♀️👳👎
Let’s go back
I am so glad that I found your video because now I can do my own without my mom having to do it so tight lol 😂
I am determined to get this right before the year is over...seen a lot of videos and yours has been the most helpful so far. Thank you!
actual cornrow tutorial starts @ 8:06
the beginning is for those who can't plait at all✌️
🙌🏾 Ur the real MVP😂
I'm gonna practice on my wife. I just had a friend do my hair so I can't try on mine yet. This is without a doubt the best explained (for the smooth brained like myself) to explain how to keep the braid traveling. Not just and individual twist.
