    I have pulled my carb. so many times that now can do it in 4 1/2 minutes. 1 I have holes in the plastic over the bolts on the tank. 2 Use a drill pull the 4 screws. 3 Use 2 bungee cords to pull the plastic back for more room to pull the tank and the carb. 4 Use a torch cleaner to pull the throttle cable up.And yes I have timed it with a stopwatch.

    It runs with no battery. Several reasons why starter motor might not work but pull start will. People drive atvs in remote places and you don't want to walk home..

    If I recall from your rebuild video on the Yamaha Steve your timing was fine. Even my little 500cc Arctic Cat atv (same as the 454 Cat you rebuilt a few years ago) is a bugger to pull over and I`ve had it kick back on me hand pulling the engine. It doesn't feel so good.. You should do another ATV rebuild series. Your Arctic Cat series is how I found your RUclips channel.

      leemer1 thanks for letting me know this is normal. I'm never going to use it anyhow. I'd like to do another atv, but most of the junkers around here get parted out.

    I havr the same atv and have the same problem with my carb also do you know why when I push half throttle it starts losing power and backfiring really bad?

      Sergio Bernal Jr I've seen blocked jets on carbs cause that. Id start there. If that isn't it, check timing.

      Sergio Bernal Jr I forgot to mention, occasionally when water would get into the tank, it would backfire out the intake. A couple times it was viloent enough to pop the carburetor right off the rubber intake. I drain the carb bowl into a clean glass jar, and look for impurities.

      I got a new stator on Yamaha yz450 dirt bike and it kickstarts every time. I don’t have electric start

    Man I’m glad you keeping giving updates on the grizzly. Over the years your videos have been very helpful. I’m trying to sort out a possible carb issue on one now. What’s your opinion of the aftermarket grizzly carbs on eBay? Thanks for all your insight

      I've never tried any of the Chinese made motorcycle or ATV ones. I have bought the cheap Chinese lawnmower carbs and they're hit or miss. I've also bought cheap Chinese chainsaw and trimmer carbs, again not always junk.
      That being said, I always try to use the original Japanese carburetor. I now have an ultrasonic parts cleaner. They're expensive new, but pretty reasonable for a used one. Also, try and avoid buying cheap rebuild kits, they tend to be pretty unreliable in my opinion. My grizzly has been out of commission for over a year now. I think I'll get it going again, and sell or trade it. It backfired and blew the carb off again, a common occurrence if holding the throttle to far open while trying to restart when hot. I know not to do this but my 14 year old forgot. Since I have a Suzuki Eiger now, we just parked the grizzly and forgot about it. But lately I've been thinking itd be better to trade it, or sell it, instead of sitting there going to waste.

      Thanks Steve. I’m gonna order one of the. Chinese carbs and report back to you what I think. From what I’ve seen in my research so far it looks like the air cleaner side of carb is slightly larger in diameter and they may have too large of jets. One person said they needed to replace the fuel hose because the diameter of inlet nipple on new carb was larger. They seem to have really come down in price too. Last time I took oem carb apart the aftermarket replacements were over $100. Now they’re like $40. I’ll let you know in next week or so what I find.
      I’ve had same problem several times with popping the carb off in the past due to backfiring. Hard to beat that automatic transmission though.

      Following up from a couple weeks ago Steve. I purchased the caltric carb Off eBay. I’m pretty happy with it for the price. A few differences but workable and its running good now. I bought the one that came with the intake boot. To get the other boot on the air cleaner side I lubricated rubber lip with silicone grease and heated it with heat gun and it slipped onto carb with a little finagling. The vent for diaphragm slide was on opposite side but not an issue. The tube where the throttle cable goes into carb is straight on new one and curved on the original. I think it was curved to keep the throttle cable away from hot cylinder head. One last thing: the new carb had a threaded plug cover over the fuel mixture screw on bottom of carb. Per another forum recommendation I removed this plug prior to installation in order to adjust mixture screw once installed. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks again for all the grizzly videos as well as the stihl videos and many more I have watched and enjoyed over the years.

    Teach your son to spray rusted bolts before attempting to take it out then replace them with new

    Of course I am commenting before I watch the whole video (like I do), but the replacement pull-start assembly shown on Amazon (for 80 bones) has a ny-lock nut in that nut's location. Was that originally a locking nut? Lemme hit pause, and wait for you to tell me you figured it out already. LMFAO!

    When you loose parts and now spend way to much time trying to find $30 in parts somewhere else in world as they don't make the friction springs WTF
