  • Welcome to DESIGN SEED, in this episode, we are about to reveal an astonishing hidden gem called The Concrete House in the township of Petaling Jaya, Malaysia,
    An interesting way of getting lighting, they left their both side of the house a one metre gap. Day light coming into the house from the side and window allows natural ventilation coming in to the house. It’s a superb design.
    This episode is a collaboration between Design Seed & Atelier International and we hope to boost an awareness to the design scene.

    How I wish our developers in this country start experimenting with how the terrace house design it should look like the the coming era. Instead of the dull rectangular, un-innovative, dull, typical design, we should look forward to a bold and daring yet comfortable and practical house. I believe we are not short of talents in our country to get this going in near future.

      Understand every terrain and places have buidings also run with trends always. But each places has its own reflection of architecture methods needed to survive there like sloped roof for tropical or such places , cold climate and spaces for some extreme places , or Sun soaked places like desert .. so blindly copying a design to new place may seems a little bad .
      But yes once box was more space saving models in cities and still is.its necessary too but yes more and more designs ( not complex ) one can be stand out and a different experience all together.
      .p.s there is never a perfect home or buiding 😂. people and their taste are different as is their needs

      I don't have high hopes for our developers, the user should demand it. At least for starters, a separate structure between houses, not one layer of brick wall separating you and your neighbours; proper waterproofing and tiling work.

    Malaysian architects and clients are of another level. The creative freedom given to the architects and the awareness of the clients both make a good design. This is very rare in India.

    • @yayotwo
      @yayotwo 2 года назад +1

      Unfortunately, this level of creative freedom is the exception rather than the rule. The industry in general is very conservative designing "what the market wants". Many of the homes featured on this channel are architects' own homes.

    The architects husband and wife , may I suggest , have incorporated eco energy saving feautures like solar panels for eletricity generation, solar hot water collection, rain water collection for toilet flushing, car washing , compound washing , watering plants.
    PASSIVE home cooling incorporating smart roof panel designs.
    The climate change phenomena is getting more and more prounounced, Dec cool season is getting hotter and drier, yet Malaysians and developers continue to build housing that defies or ignores the future of lack of fresh water sources and energy efficiency that will cut back on overall carbon output.
    We Malaysians are living with our heads buried in the sands.
    I would like to ask Design Seed to feature and encourage more housing that incorporates these new carbon neutral homes. It is imperative we do and time is running out.
    Any Tom , Dick and Harriet architect can build that concrete house within a house.
    The challenge is getting the whole country up to speed in the energy efficieny, solar and renewable energy usage , changing the building codes and rules and regulations to increase home energy use efficiency.
    And architects should be headlining and leading the way.
    Is Design Seed leading this way.

    • @lsamoa
      @lsamoa 2 года назад

      I agree, also the use of concrete is not sustainable nor durable. You can already see signs of decay which will only get worse as temperatures rise, and concrete has a very bad carbon footprint. It's a really nice house that seems suited to the owners' lifestyle but sadly that won't last.
