Jeff that reminds me of a little story. Once I was on a jobsite and some kids were jackhammering the remains of an old concrete utilidor to make way for the new one under construction. It is a noisy job. After a bit I hear no noise. I look over, they got the jackhammer stuck in the concrete. So they go get another hammer which also got stuck. A bit later I hear more jackhammering and then silence again. These 2 kids had 3 jackhammers stuck in the same spot. They were just staring at what they'd done. So I just had to yell "whats the matter boys, all out of jackhammers?"
I wish you could have seen their faces.

Jeff, They actually manufacture a chainsaw designed for cutting concrete. We have one where I work. It has a water hose attachment for blade coolant and helps keep the dust down we always use a 3 gallon pump sprayer with it in areas where there is no water hydrant available.
Those are so slick! Great for cutting clean beam pockets or doorways in concrete

I remember the days of caving with a candle! The methane pockets would cause a good-sized flare. It seems you would want to eat chili before going down to have the best fun, there is nothing like a good fart in a tight environment! TSC sells an Indoor/Outdoor spray mix that runs off spiders and bees.

I may be a nerd, but I get way more of a thrill out of the idea of hunting for and finding the gold than I do for the money. There is just something really primal and meaningful about getting outside with family and friends and getting rewarding finds to support it all. I don't know if I will ever strike it rich, but you'd have to kill me to make me stop wanting to hunt rocks and minerals for the fun of it!
That's what I appreciate about this channel. I may not have been certain what to make of you initially(you know you're silly!), but I've learned that you really have a passion for this and that you have really done your homework over the years on the things that really help in the pursuit. I can only hope to have a fraction of your energy levels and knowledge as I dive into this hobby in earnest! Thanks for providing good education and entertainment!

Like a couple of kids in a candy store still digging for more. Glad to see you two having so much fun! My guess is the candle was installed for the bad air when you two have pinto beans for lunch. Get a dove to see if it passes out before you. methane explosion could melt all those hidden nuggets! Just curious if you are digging under an ancient riverbed and can follow the bottom bedrock upstream should lead you to the lode maybe in another 100 years! Anyway, you guys have a tornado and nuclear war shelter if the pay dirt fiddles out. 🙈🙉🙊

My 10 year old daughter (whose also a huge fan now) and I are heading to the Cali coast to do some crabbing over Christmas break, but we plan to stop and see if we get lucky in one of the gold districts of NV on our way from Utah. Wish we had a gold monster, but not this trip. My wife and daughter want to book one of your excursions next year, so hopefully, we get to meet you soon. I admire your tenacity, but I like to reduce the manual labour, by making bigger shafts & drives so I can get a bobcat loader into to do the mucking & drilling for blasting ( bobcat is modified with a bolt on hydraulic percussion drill) my shafts are minimum 8ft by 10 ft .

@@Askjeffwilliams,,, it's doable if you possess fab& weld skills & not expensive, if you source solid used inexpensive machinery ( 2x used pre 1995 bobcats in my country less than $30k for both) + $25 K to modify. My logic was it's cheaper to do this than to buy a new family car , so why not , and it upped my production & ROI 47gpt Au X 10 t per 10 days = a nice smelted ingot and a solid profit against any capital outlay. But initial outlay = $250k AUD start up . Reef mining old workings from late 1890's .

This is awesome! In so many ways, I feel I privileged Jeff lets is in on things like this. Boy, how much time Id save if someone like Jeff would come check out my Placer mine. Its got so much going on its confusing. Its part of an old riverbed, but toss in some volcanic activity and a few thousand years of geological movement... its tricky.

A new prospecting friend, who knows a whole lot more than I do suggested I check out some other folks videos, more of a chemistry channel than what I'd call yours, a "entertaining educational journey rich in detail, history, positivity, with attention keeping content and despite getting the word 'cliche' stuck in my brain and all the other schist (ya that's a joke right there see, so you're gunna laugh, and if you do it right... I see the kitchen counter workers are getting silicosis. It was known a hundred years ago that silica dust ruined lungs . Yet the greed of the company won over the safety if those counter top workers. Stay safe Jeff. Nice to see you wearing a respirator !
I saw a report on that too. Sad that something we already know about, silicosis, and is so easily preventable with just a small investment is ultimately ignored because the company owners are greedier than Scrooge McDuck.
Those men's lives will never be the same. And in many cases it has been cut short by years and even decades. And even if they did manage to win a lawsuit they'll never see a dime.

Wish you had some water to hose the muck pile down. I hate wearing respirators.. Ever try black powder on that stuff? No real shock waves to loosen the back. Even a couple holes down low will help create some free face, for easier jack hammering. Does your vent system blow, or suck?
