Not one swear word at all not one, pure comedy gold It's the moment Foster pops up and Dean notices his teeth are missing and instantly breaks up to pieces with laughter it's just great. And the great thing is Dean bad no idea it was going to happen
A Master's class on acting intoxicated while you're stone cold sober...and also in how to deliver clean and meaningful humor that remains timeless even now.
Dean Martin could hardly keep a straight face every time I watch him with Foster . He was really great at doing this act . A true great . Thank you Mr Brooks
Needless to say Foster Brooks was a genius. An absolute one of a kind talent I had the privilege of seeing perform. Martin, Sinatra, Charlie Callas, Bob Hope, Johnathan Winters, Johnny Carson, George Gobel Etc..., Comedy is just not the same without them.
It is obvious by the expression on Deans face that he had no prior knowledge that Foster was going to perform the sketch without his dentures. Than made it that much funnier
Dean signed a massive contract that allowed him to not be required to go to rehearsals. He preferred to golf during the week and show up for filming. He would practice his lines at home and it allowed for all of these impromptu things to happen hilariously during taping
Compare to Tim Conway, who was a hoot, I don't think his sidekick Harvey Korman couldn't compose himself much longer if he was paired up with Foster Brooks
0:26 look how amazed Dean Martin is when he notice that foster Brooks skipped his dentures. And you clearly see him pointing at his teeth while looking at the director. But amazing Job to still go on acting.
That's the First time I've seen Mr.Brooks get cracked up during a skit.Mr.Martin delivered a solid laugh line and I laughed even harder when Foster couldn't hold it.Loved the teamwork.
I Love all Foster Brooks's work! Love it! .Both of them geniuses, and with help of Dean: "What seem's to be the trouble? .. < I'm pregnant!> " .. I was all over the floor laughing with tears! .. No way! .. And grand finale: "to a weenie roast!" .. Superb! ..Not in this days such comedians!
He did struggle with alcoholism prior to. He then quit drinking and based his act on his struggle with alcoholism. But yes he never drank but could play a damn good drunk
I love these two!!! And the Dean Martin roasts. Looks like they had so much fun back then Foster Brooks is hilarious. They are funny as hell!! Always makes me laugh I have a lot of the DVD's from the Dean Martin's roast never gets old makes me happy every time I watch. 💙💙
Foster Brooks is a genius, identical clone of my binge-drunk grandpa! I feel like I'm seeing his ghost in every way, shape and mannerism. Brooks was such a legend, the fact that Dean Martin couldn't keep a straight face and kept busting up laughing somehow makes it all the funnier!
When times were fun, love these and the roasts they did. What made them so enjoyable was Dean genuinely laughing, which made them so real, rather than the fake canned laughter from shows now a days. RIP to these lost stars and others like Don Rickles, Nipsey and the fabulous Jonathon Winters.
Don't forget Tim Conway & Harvey Corman together... Especially the famous (ad-lib by Tim) "Dentist" skit with Harvey, where he (Harvey) actually "pi**ed" his pants from trying to hold in his laughter.... verified years later to be true, in an interview Carol Burnette. Absolutely Hilarious!!
If i had done this scene instead of Dean Martin and when Foster Brooks says "What seems to be the trouble"" I would've lost it...I would've just started laughing. The chemistry between these legends is untouchable in any era of this world. The chemistry between them is so strong that they could've been brothers in real life. This is real comedy...The comedy stand ups today is just a cry for help.....
I grew up watching Foster Brooks Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. Another favorite of mine was Red Skelton and Don Rickles. I loved watching Dean Martin's Roast as well.
Maybe that's their problem. Maybe it's a jealousy thing because they know they're not anywhere near as good as the old guys and instead of modeling after the old guys and becoming hilariously successful like Jim Carry did, they wanna use their talent (if they have any) to hurt people.
We will never see this kind of comedy again. Foster and Dean were so funny and no swearing needed. Foster was Dean's favorite guy on the roasts. Because he was the funniest of them all.
Most drunk acts play it as a sober man pretending to be drunk Richard. The best though, play it as a drunk pretending to be sober. Tha`s why Foster Brooks was so good at what he did.
And I think Foster KNEW he shocked Dean. It looks as though they had to edit the end of that intro, before they cut to a closeup of Foster asking "what seems to be the trouble"
I probably only seen a fraction of the skits performed by Foster Brooks, but I believe this is the first time I've heard him speak with this particular comedy voice. So funny!
Ya just don't see 'em like this anymore. How beautiful they were in their prime, and afterword too. Laugh out loud type of humor - don't see that much anymore.
2 GREAT ENTERTAINERS...LOVE THIS...I LAUGHED OUT LOUD...THANKS DEAN AND FOSTER...THE DENTIST ONE ALSO HAD ME IN "STITCHES"...LOVE FROM AUSTRALIA...🐨🐨😀😘🐨🐨
Henri Scamardo I agree everything back then was straight up comedy no Justin Bieber no Britney Spears or Lady Gaga spreading their legs open to get a lot of views and ratings just talented actors and comedians and they could tell a joke without you know lot of profanity and you still going to laugh anyway good quality clean fun for the whole family
I saw Foster Brooks for the first time in Las Vegas. He was the opening act to Robert Goulet. He was genuinely funny ... a wonderful entree to the main course.
+DeansPalley or he had in a fake plate that looks like gums that went over his real teeth ...look at his bottom teeth here they look bad one missing ..in real life he had all his top and bottom teeth ..this was fake ..they made him look like that
+feck off I don't think he had a false plate over upper teeth. If you see the look on his face when he first pops up from the bar, he's able to close his mouth in a way that only someone without upper teeth can. I think they were going for the Gabby Hayes look.
Not one swear word at all not one, pure comedy gold
It's the moment Foster pops up and Dean notices his teeth are missing and instantly breaks up to pieces with laughter it's just great. And the great thing is Dean bad no idea it was going to happen
Soo true. Class act in those days.
I know. I want those times back.
The skill was , they didn't say it, but you were thinking it.
Best comedy , with no cursing it's the best!!

Agreed !!!
@@christiandonaldson31 hello. 😊
Brilliant I'm pregnant 🤣🤣🤣

I don't know what's funnier, the drunk doctor or Deans expression and trying to hold in the laughter. Pure comedy gold.
Love them both. Dean is so funny how he can't help but laugh when he's supposed to be serious. As for Foster Brooks...pure genius.
Dean is just bad and lazy
These guys are legends and irreplaceable.
Yes they are legends, and they are irreplaceable.
Dean Martin, the coolest and smoothest guy we will ever see …
Dean Martin could hardly keep a straight face every time I watch him with Foster . He was really great at doing this act . A true great . Thank you Mr Brooks
Life was a lot better back then for sure
As I a kid Dean Martin made me laugh growing up, and still making me laugh today. One of the best from the past.
Comedy Skeches like this will never fly today this is funny as hell thank God for RUclips R.I.P to both Dean Martin and Foster Brooks.
"I've lost a lot of blood!"
"....no you ain't, it's right there all over the floor!"
LMAO!!!!
What a great line
"Don't you see my wound?"
"No, it's got an arrow sticking in it."
LMAO

Let’s not leave Jack Benny and George Burns and Dangerfield and Jackie Gleason out of that mix!

Gentlemen and Ladies this is what comedy needs to return to, the silly, sometimes racy and always hilarious antics of our beloved comics.
Nobody plays a better drunk than the great FOSTER BROOKS. R.I.P to both DEAN & FOSTER!
It is obvious by the expression on Deans face that he had no prior knowledge that Foster was going to perform the sketch without his dentures. Than made it that much funnier
Agreed. He even points to his own teeth, then to Foster, to someone off screen (I'm guessing the floor director).
I wonder, did Dean know if Foster had dentures in the first place? It looked like he didn't... But this is funnyyyYYYY!
Dean signed a massive contract that allowed him to not be required to go to rehearsals. He preferred to golf during the week and show up for filming. He would practice his lines at home and it allowed for all of these impromptu things to happen hilariously during taping
I know right
@@johncronin9540 yes Dean points to his own teeth but he doesn't point to foster
I miss clean and funny shows like this , classic and beautiful
It's when Dean starts singing and then Foster's dancing that gets me everytime! Haha Funniest thing I have ever seen!
Foster Brooks ranks right up there with Tim conway.forgot how hysterical he was.the perfect drunk
Compare to Tim Conway, who was a hoot, I don't think his sidekick Harvey Korman couldn't compose himself much longer if he was paired up with Foster Brooks
Everyone thinks it’s easy to act drunk, but it really really isn’t!
Best I've seen.
Keith Jones and he didn’t even drink
Red Skelton was pretty great too
Dean was the king of cool but couldn't keep it together when he was teamed with Foster. Absolutely hilarious
Best clean comedy, I remember those days...
You can't get any better than this. Both were GREAT. TODAY the kids don't know how to enjoy this.

@@chadhanna8267 Foster made so many people laugh and was unbelievable funny. Didn't know about his prior problem. RIP
Hi Mary
This is one of the best-written skits I've seen on this show. Every line sparkled.
it looks like some of the lines were adlibbed because even Foster almost loses it a couple of times.
CLASSIC. if only we could bring back this quality of humor.
Well you can’t.
Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like bananas.
I loved it when Dean said are you sterile LOL LOL LOL
I love it when they are so funny that they can't even keep a straight face!

Agree. It's a shame there are no roasts anymore.
I really enjoy them, they were very good and never use vulgarities!

They loved working with each other, that's what really makes this bit shine, in my humble opining.

I just watched a Foster Brooks impersonator, here on Utube, before watching this. THAT was definitely Foster Brooks!

Why aren’t there good shows like this anymore? Tv today is garbage.
Garbage with either a filthy conversation or kids disrespecting the parents and showing kids how to do it.
