Hi Veronica! I am literally crying now about what you said in the last part of this video. I just found your channel about last week and been watching and taking notes. I left my corporate job four months ago to stay home and take care of my mother who have cancer. At the same time I just started planning about offering my bookkeeping services while at home. I have more than fifteen years of experience in the corporate as an accounting assistant and I never wanted to go back serving rich big business. But now I'm still kind of lost where and how to start. I have seen a lot of video tutorials and it only make me feel overwhelmed as to which step to take first. I don't have the money to enroll in those bookkeeping courses that promised to make me land a client in 30 days. I'm just glad to have found your channel. God bless you for creating this content. I needed to hear this today. Thank you! I just started my bookkeeping business last month and I’ve been networking the past couple of weeks. No clients yet. Everything I’ve researched says it takes anywhere from 30 days to over 3 months to get your first bookkeeping client. I hope it’s sooner rather than later. Scary when you don’t have an income coming in.
Hi @kimmiel6825 I can totally understand the uncertainty that comes with not finding a paying client right away. I will encourage you to find 2-3 different ways you work to generate leads and make it your priority to build that muscle memory and feel confident while gaining the skill of direct outreach until you get that first client. Everything feels harder at first, but it gets easier the more you do it. If you choose a method to find clients and you don't like it, try another way until you find the one you can grow and master.

You got this! we feel fear at every stage of growth. Think about something you did not know how to do, but then you learned, practiced, got better and then became comfortable doing it. This is the same thing.
Hi Veronica! I just subscribed to your channel today and I can't even express how much motivation you've given me. I registered my bookkeeping business 6 months ago and have not even started marketing myself etc., because of fear! I came across your videos today for the first time and feel more motivated and confident than ever, even with fear. I do not have one single client due to not searching, marketing etc. I really have a goal to get my website running and outreach this weekend, I hope! Nervous about it but I don't want to wait any longer and I am trying to have faith that I can find bookkeeping clients soon. :) Thanks so much for your awesome videos!
Hi Mirka, I'm so happy to hear you feel motivated and will be taking action! Finding your first client feels hard, but I really encourage you to focus on communicating and making sure people know about you, your service, what you offer, who you help and not be shy about it.

Hi @Amberdawn Andres, thank you for leaving a message. I think that is a great topic and I will definitely add it tot he queue of topics I'm creating content for. In the meantime, I do have a video on my channel that you may find useful but I will also think about creating others that focus on the different types of services and depending on what stage you are in.

I'm thinking of starting my own PT bookkeeping business but I would like to get a better scope by maybe joining a team first to see if this is for me. Do you have any recommendations on reaching out to a virtual bookkeeping service and see if they need some extra help? I have a degree in accounting. Thank you in advance.
Hi Jozie thank you for watching and for your question. This would make a great video for the future.
I think it's a great idea to want to get experience with a bookkeeping or accounting firm. The fact that you have a degree in Accounting is amazing.
There are a couple of ways to go about it but before you approach anyone, you need to make sure you have two things:
1) a current resume (a professional one) and if you need help with it, you can go to FIVERR and hire someone with experience
2) You also want a cover letter (hear me out), you don't necessarily send a cover letter, but having the context written up in a cover letter format expressing your interest and peeking their interest in you and what you have to offer, makes it so much easier for you to take that content on a cover letter and modify it to fit into an email. or a LinkedIn message etc.
Then I would recommend you start looking in your local area but use Indeed.com to search for bookkeeping and accounting firms: If they are looking for help, they will post it in LinkedIn, their website and Indeed.com: search these 3 place and then apply. Don't cold call or cold email without doing your homework first and see if they are hiring.

What are the most Profitable bookkeeping niches?
Hi Jussara, great question. I like this for a future video topic as well.
For me personally I find that a business which is a little more mature meaning one that has consistent revenue and is past those early 2-3 years is best. At that stage, the business owner understand that they need help in order grow and also value the service a bookkeeper provides. It's not so much the niche as it is the stage of business:
1) How long they've been in business
2) do they have consistent revenue (recurring business even better)
3) do they have the means and the desire to truly outsource their bookkeeping and accounting.
Now, having said that, I prefer professional services type of business to serve: law firms, dental office, marketing agency, software type of companies.
