I'm still confused between the two, but from where I am the ground clearance will be an issue, so I'm more inclined towards ronin & it's features are also a plus point.

Bro to be honest both front and back fender are metal and tank too( did excessive research )and Ronin gives far better mileage then hunter , My bike already gives nearly 40 before 1st service itself.
Things which are better for Ronin
    1.Milage
    2.More metal parts in body
3.Gtt(glide through traffic) many people miss this point
    4.Upside down front suspension
    5.Mono shock back suspension
    6.Total led setup
    7.Lesser service cost of TVS.
8.Trip navigation and Bluetooth connectivity (doesn't comes as accessory)
    9.Lesser body weight 160kgs
    10.More bass in exhaust note.
I have ridden both, and hunter doesn't has the RE feeling.

Everything is nice on the Hunter, but the ground clearance is surely an issue. This is India and not the US or Japan. The speedbreakers, especially with the weight of the pillion will have you scraping things.

Even though both have same power figure....since ronin is 20kgs lighter than hunter, it would feel much more pepy...additionally the lower weight permits lower torque figure too which is 7Nm less than a hunter. Also, due to GTT in ronin, it would feel much easier city commuter than hunter

Being a Mechanical engineer and a designer in automotive field, I have following observations.
I was looking for a family bike for city rides mostly with a flat (horizontal seat), circular headlamp and retro-like + premium design (not like 100-150cc bikes).
After exploring lot of bikes, I finalized three options to compare.
    1. Honda H'ness 350 CC
    2. Royal Enfield Hunter Rebel 350 CC
    3. TVS Ronin 225 CC
I test drove all 3 vehicles 2-3 times and following are my observations,
    1. Honda H'ness 350 CC -
*Pros* - Nice retro/classic look, Low end torque is good, Seating space for pillion rider is more than other two vehicles.
*Cons* - Bulkier (Box size), Paint quality, Higher cost as compared to other two vehicles
    2. Royal Enfield Hunter Rebel 350 CC -
*Pros* - Beautiful Design/Styling/Look, Great color schemes, Turning radius is smaller than Ronin (Less space to turn the vehicle), Reasonable cost.
*Cons* - The biggest issue (design flaw) is positioning of foot rest (pegs), just below the sitting position. This makes it difficult to keep your feet on ground while you are at signal or in slow moving traffic. Foot rest (pegs) keep touching your legs and is very uncomfortable.
Another point is that seat on rear end tapers downward and seating space for pillion rider being less, pillion rider tend to move back and when you accelerate, pillion may feel like toppling/falling down at back side. So this is not safe and hence, back rest is MUST.
Handle bar positioned in such a way that you need to keep your hands stretched straight all the times which is not a comfortable sitting posture.
Low end torque/performance (2 & 3 gear) is sluggish due to bigger engine. (Not as good as smaller capacity bikes)
    3. TVS Ronin 225 CC -
*Pros* - Semi-retro look with circular headlamp, Driveability and Performance is superb.
Handle bar position is very good for comfortable sitting posture with hands slightly bent in elbows. Very easy to handle in traffic.
*Cons* - Very bad design/aesthetics of fuel tank (some odd shape), Color schemes are odd (not impressive), Turning radius is higher than Hunter (Needs larger space to turn the vehicle). Cost is on higher side for lower CC as compared to Hunter (mainly due to features).
Overall, none of them is meeting my requirements (as mentioned above) and hence, I decided to wait for Kawasaki W175 or Yamaha XSR or Improved version of Royal Enfield Hunter.
    All the best!
    Regards, Jayesh Shimpi

Totally agree with you on Ronin's aesthetics. It looks confusing. I faced the footpegs problem as well when I test-rode the Hunter 350, 180 kgs of weight hitting my shins was not a pleasurable experience lol.
I also test-rode the Hness 350. The newer version has better seats and feels more comfortable.
Did you finalize your bike yet? I will buy a bike by 1st week of May'23 and hopefully make my decision by then.

    • @jayeshshimpi
      @jayeshshimpi Год назад +2

@@rishabhanand01 Finally I felt that 350cc is basically not something which I'll enjoy but I'll be unnecessarily driving & handling a higher box size & higher weight...
Then I shifted downward and bought new Bajaj CT125X...it has got a circular headlamp, flat & long seat (for family/kids) and a mini-srambler like look with enhanced sturdiness...so basically meeting all my requirements.
I am OK with this 125x than any of 350cc models I tried. Best luck!

best value for money for 95% of consumers who are going to use it as a daily commuter and weekend rides.
    Top speed 135+ ,
    Glide through traffic feature,
very nimble to manuaver in day to day traffic,
    super comfort ,
    best riding posture ,
    engine refinement ,
    smooth gear box
power to weight ratio is better than hunter so in real world it delivers
    slipper assist clutch
    Showa USD forks
    LEDs all around
    Bass heavy exhaust note
and best of all 40+ milage that will pay dividend in long run.

These small bikes, I want a proper cruiser man, like Indian Motorcycle, Was expecting RE will launch meteor plus, Meteor too don't have much seating space for passenger. Need seating space along with power only then will be able to enjoy the ride. Bajaj avenger might be a good choice but it too got issues.

Hunter ground clearance is a big concern especially when a pillion above 80 or 90 Kgs sit behind. I feel it would hit speed breakers in such a case. All other cons are kind of manageable I feel.

I was obsessed with Ronin when it came out, But after that when hunter got introduced I changed my mind!!. Yes, Ronin is better when it comes to it's key features, like glide through, slipper clutch, USD forks etc. which the hunter doesn't have. But personally I think these features are not a deal breaker for me.
    1) Slipper clutch for Ronin is exactly where hunter lacks, hunter with a tighter clutch is a concern. I believe this problem can be solved with a hydraulic clutch conversion's which are popular in 650 twins.
    2) USD forks are always better but with this segment, it is not very important.
I think hunter is a better choice with it's unique roadster type design and road presence which makes it a one of a kind motorcycle like that of a triumph. Also this bike's got a great potential for future modification's and bolt on accessories which is awesome if you are an enthusiast. Right now my favourite picks of hunter accessories would be tail tidy, bar end mirrors and seat if needed. Overall I think hunter with it's unique character would be a great choice over Ronin.
Test driving both and picking one that fits your taste is always the best way to go.

Slipper clutch is very convenient and usd forks are way better than regular one’s on hunter. Both these make a huge difference in riding. So take test rides on both

Slipper clutch makes a huge difference when you are a daily commuter and ride mostly in the city.
Till date we don't have a machine like Ronin in Indian two wheeler market which would offer you so much at a reasonable cost.
*225cc Liquid + Oiled Cooled Engine.
*Power of 20.4 PS and with 19.6 NM of torque with a descent city mileage.
*Slipper assist clutch with Adjustable brake and clutch levers.
      *GTT Technology
*Smart Connect feature with turn by turn navigation
      *Fully digital instrument
      cluster
*Upside Down premium USD front folks with pre load adjustment.
*Cruising speed of 130 kmph with no vibrations.
*Premium roadblock tyres from TVS for stability and better road grip.
*Dual Channel ABS with riding modes.
*Full LED light set up with LED DRLs and LED indicators.

Most of the people live in villages or suburban area of INDIA where road conditions are not good as metro cities .So it will become the main reason to not to buy this bike for those who wanted to buy this bike .
