I wondered how someone would kill a stygian with a slow weapon like the GL. I've been using the DLC SnS 'Sanctioned Sword' because it has very high lightning and reasonable sharpness. Evade distance seems almost mandatory for a lance weapon though, or possibly sheathing if you dont have it.
i did it with the zino sns today. Half the time i was in blue sharpness and white sharpness. It took about 23 mins. I had speed sharp but still using 12+ whetstones is annoying.
You're kidding? You could dodge every and each attack of zinogre? even it's Stygian type? This is not fair! XD technically, what is the number of evade skill level? 2 or 1?

Evasion +2 is not necessary Btw: Except his roar. every single attack of him can be dodge without evasion+
đạt nguyễn I wanna see this (although it can be BUT you need to be well prepared).I have already tried to do it without evasion+1 and I ended up turtling. And Evasion +1 helped me out. Lance/Gunlance and evasion +1 or +2= badass monster hunter. Seriously, you'll become a beast. Killed regular jinouga with luinox the thirsty in 15 minutes.

Arthur Androstylez: Yeah, Zinogre and Narga is easy if you have Evasion+ I can easily beat S.zin in about 10 minutes using this set: Abyssal Lagi Dual Blade Honed Blade Evasion+ Razor sharp Or less if i change evasion+ for Element atk up, or active heroic, but it is risky :(
people have to stop thinking that soloing a g rank monster is the hardest thing in the world....though admittedly, thats some quite nice GL usage, you dont see that too often online.
evade skill? hmmm... i dont think anyone would attempt yo solo him with anything other than a GL, DB, or kelbi bow. Even ICEMAN struggles at lancing stygian.
I will never understand these people. Why use a weapon with the best shield in the game,and then never use it? Also why in the world would you evade with a gunlance? If you want to dance around, a lance is far more suited to that playstyle.

This has just pushed me into trying out the Gunlance.
Hopefully some day ill get a weapon and skills as beastly as this.

i solo it with hammer, hh and ice bow...it´s a bitch and sometimes i cart once...but it dies...
