- Here again with another run that looks very easy but actually not that much. I had to practice SA quite a few times before training on Garuga as I don't take this weapon very often, even on casual hunts.
Flinch control is still being a thing for optimal damage so you have to count the attacks you're doing especially if the affinity proced or not but the positionning is what's the hardest here, 1 step forward or backward than optimal positionning and you'll whiff 1 hit or get hit by the instacharge. This is actually what happened to me in this run and that costed me a cart.
I found the run quite clean overall so this is the reason why I kept it even if it could've been something closer to sub 7 or even sub 7 but yeah, I'm fine with that.
Also you can see me sometimes taking the wind pressure on purpose, it's just to reload the phial faster.

Nice run! Cool to see SA
Crazy comment out of context
Things I liked about this run:
- You used more moves from the switchaxe than the typical X -> A -> X -> A spam. It looked like you were using your meter more efficiently.
- Interesting meter management. Actively taking the time to reload, even when your meter is just under half full, whenever Garuga had sprinted past you. At one point you even used a felvine bomb to help or intentionally getting caught by the roar to cut animations.
- You can the beak slam. I'm so envious of you. But I also noticed iframing (or perhaps perfectly timed repositioning) of Garuga's instant charge, so that was pretty cool.
- My favourite part was when you'd attack the tail during Garuga's jump back roar move. Imo, that really demonstrates how much you've practiced Garuga, enough to at least notice a window of opportunity to land an attack on one of its weak points that normally goes ignored.
So yeah, great hunt, I'm so glad I watched this. 4U's Garuga is one of my favourite monsters to hunt, despite how much everyone seems to think it's a terrible monster.
Oh, and thanks for the upload ^^
Really cool of you to notice those things. I don't really know why is the X>A combo so popular, it consumes more energy than the double slash combo and is weaker MV wise
I still love watching 4U speedruns. Glad to see that you are still doing them. Great run
That reload animation cancel by the wind's pressure was kinda sick
Awesome seeing people still run this game.
I'm sure people have said this, but I'm gonna say it again. Your thumbnails are super stylish👀
Haha thank you 😆
you 100% deserve more subs great run
So elegant!! 😍
Thanks!
5:06 the most annoying thing about garuga lvl 140 is how he's programmed to reach you. Most monsters usually reach your position to better perform attacks by doing short hops or other attacks. The good thing about those is that you can most of the time see them coming and react accordingly. However garuga just.. He repositions by doing a no telegraph instant dash that does ridiculous damage and he can cancel out of it at will. Quite literally the best and most broken move in the game. However, it's also tied to garuga, who isn't the hardest monster in the game, as his set of moves is not as bad compared to other monsters such as rajang
that's basically a MHFU tier move that hits even harder, instant dash with no telegraph. Unfortunately you just have to feel them coming and plan ahead
Hey Vanitas. Really impressive time despite the cart XD (I read the video description). Glad you mastered the switch axe in the old games. In iceborne, switch axe is one of my main weapons, and starting from world coming back to 4u, I find it too obscure to use. In world they really improved the weapon's 'flow' as a whole, seemlessly being able to switch between axe mode and sword mode, and somewhat giving each mode equal viability, as well as improved mobility. Out of the 6 weapons I play, swaxe is the only one I find really difficult to relearn in 4u, which is a shame :(
Same here but I was used to Gen's SA
@@VanitasMH Gen's switch axe? Isn't the guild style from gen's switch axe the same as 4u? Or did you accustom yourself to another style?
Yeah I was used to striker SA
Nice work Vani!
ᴛʜᴀɴᴋ ʏᴏᴜ
nice BGM choice
Woo my respect great hunt
Good work on trimming down your times so fast
Man I felt personally triggered when that Tail Swipe killed you, 4U was a great game but 140 GQ were a shitty endgame imo. In any case, great run!
It was actually a instacharge which is even more BS
Guild Quest's are a good endgame actually keeps you active and it's also not easy which is nice and fun to speedrun
I don't disagree, but deviants and guiding lands weren't much better tbh. lol
5:10 jup, looks legit.
Like your nuked out of Existance.
4:11 nice morph back to axe mode so you don't get stuck in the reverting animation
ya know, it's kinda hard to see HD versions of weapons
stab stab stab
I've noticed you use target cam very often (even if mob is front of you). Would you please give me advice why you do that?
It's just a matter of preference, some people don't even use it at all. I often use unconsciously in my case
@Arczii1337 I use targeting cam more then him in hunts, usually if I'm not smacking him I'm spamming the button every possible use
even in combo I use it
Did he just one shot you? That sucks,
Can i ask? What felyne bomb used to? Is there any effect for Hunter?
5:06 : wat, is that a straight oneshot?
Nope, my defense was quite low but it still did a lot of damage
@@VanitasMH
Ah ok, still, ouch
Lmao that piano drop got me
Comment comptes-tu exactement les coups ? Après que l'animation de flinch soit terminée ou dès qu'elle se lance ?
Au moment où le flinch commence
will you ever bring run on 3U?
I haven't planned to, sorry
What citra build that you used?
