Aunt May giving Peter $20 is one of the most underrated touching scenes in superhero movies. The emotional bond between them almost makes you cry. Wish we had more of it in MCU Spiderman to explore the characters.

Still like him a lot, Spider-Man 2 is definitely in my top 5 favorite CBM films of all time, but the way he would act sometimes with the tone of his voice is similar in retrospect with Christian Bale playing Batman to me and I just find it funny. My opinion of course so take it how you want.

We really get to see Peter struggling with his guilt over ben's death and whether to tell aunt may the truth. We can see all the thoughts racing through his mind. "Do I tell her? No...what would she do to me? She would blame me. But she would be right to do that. But I don't want to loose her too." Such a well shot scene.
Rosemary Harris, a Tony-winning veteran of the stage and screen, treated this role with enthusiasm, instinct and dignity. Impeccable portrayal of Aunt May. Props to that woman. Bless her heart.
I don't know how to explain it, but without doing much Peter's eyes just has this look that he deeply cares about these people. This movie's got heart. It's one of the things I thought was missing with the new Spider-Man films. I love them all, but this movie does it the best.

MCU Spiderman has never faced any dire consequences. He can screw up and everything fixes itself. This version of Spiderman is so good because there is no Iron Man or Avenger to come in and help him. Whether it be in a fight, or financially. I teared up watching Aunt May give him the 20 dollar bill because even though she's going to lose the house, she's doing everything she can to help Peter. And on top of that, she throws a little birthday party for him with his best friends. MCU Spiderman is not awful, but it will never have these special moments. That version of Spiderman has too much help! Doesn't make things exciting. One thing I wanted to add is, sure, Harry is very rich and could help Peter with money which can kind of weakens my argument on how Peter has no one there to help financially, but during this film, Aunt May still lost the house. Peter still lives in a godawful apartment. Peter is struggling in many ways. I guess there is also a small argument to be made that Peter does have someone that can help in fights, Hobgoblin (Harry), but then again that's in the last film, and well Harry dies...so yeah...

This scene really speaks to me. A few years back, one of my grandaunts got very sick and was on her deathbed and I hadn't gotten to see her yet until one of her last days. It happened to be my birthday and guess what? With her own strength of will, she reached into her purse, handed me $20, and muttered "Happy Birthday." I said thank you and tried not to let her see, but tears were rolling down my face. I'm sure she saw anyway. It was like she was holding on just so I could make it to her and we could see each other one last time before she finally passed on. When I was younger, she and another one of my grandaunts took me to see the first Spider-Man movie in theaters, and that's what started my insane love for this trilogy and really kicked off my love of Spider-Man. I had the little decorative paper that went across the top and bottom of the walls in my room, posters, video games, action figures, stuffed toys, clothes, bed covers, etc. I was all Spidey'd out. I can relate to Peter so much. I get up at 4am every day to eat breakfast and work out because it's the only time I have to do so. I'm working a not-very high-paying job and trying to save up money and invest. I'm taking advanced math classes and struggling between that and working full-time. I have no energy when I come home. I'm always dead tired with only enough energy to drag myself to eat in an attempt to refuel for the next day and do it all over again. Rinse and repeat. The only girl I've ever truly loved and probably still in love with is off with some other dude. Happy and probably never thinks about me at all. We kinda knew each other in middle school, but didn't really become close friends until high school. It was high school when I really started to notice her, but it was complicated because we were dating other people. I had always thought she looked like Mary Jane. So beautiful. I didn't realize my love for her nor did I see the signs that she may have loved me until it was all over. I had a chance with her not too long after high school, but I blew it. I'd just be dragging her down with me and making her miserable. I wish I could have given her the World. Fuck... I love that girl. I'm no Spider-Man and I never will be, but I still hold on enough to make it through the day and cling to the life I've been given. Trying to do better, like Peter said to Otto. I can see my life flash right before my eyes in these movies. I just wish I was Spider-Man.
Hang in there, buddy. You don't need to be Spider-Man. You yourself made it this far, so don't stop fighting or wishing you were someone else. The only person you should be is yourself, if you don't like that, keep in mind it that you can become a better you over time and with patience. Remember to count the little victories. Growing up to Tobey being my childhood Spider-Man,yet too young to understand the meanings there were in the trilogy,but now coming back to rewatch them as a 18 year old,just proves that there will never be a better Spider-Man than Tobey.
Came to watch this cause I hadn't cried in a while. This scene was sad when I was a kid and devastating as an adult. MCU doesn't have these gripping scenes.
This scene, to me, is the epitome of the scene that all movie sequels should have The scene that basically says “These are the characters you know from before but this is where they are now” It’s very exciting to pick up with them and see how they have evolved since the first film

To be honest, I prefer these Spider-Man movies that address very real issues like depression and poverty over the Multiverse Spider-Man movies. These movies just seem more special when you see how many recent superhero movies are just about stopping the bad guy.
I love how Peter is happy that his Aunt held a small party for him. It isn't the biggest party, but he's happy that she was kind enough to do so. The Raimi trilogy was great at showing casual scenes between the superhero action.

Its sad to think about but the reason aunt may is probably struggling with the foreclosure on her house is because she had to pay a lot of money just to repair the damages done to it by green goblin in the first one and that would have messed up her financially
In my opinion, a bigger reason would be the fact that Uncle Ben was attempting to find another job after being laid off, as he mentioned in the first movie. Cuz he passed away, unfortunately, she is forced to live alone and Peter's salary of course, cannot compensate for that.

I never realized how much I could relate to these movies until recently. I'm no Spider-Man and I never will be, but I still hold on enough to make it through the day and cling to the life I've been given. Trying to do better, like Peter said to Otto. I can see my life flash right before my eyes in these movies. I just wish I was Spider-Man.

These movies just seem more special when you see how many recent superhero movies are just about stopping the bad guy.
I love how Peter is happy that his Aunt held a small party for him. It isn't the biggest party, but he's happy that she was kind enough to do so. The Raimi trilogy was great at showing casual scenes between the superhero action.

Its sad to think about but the reason aunt may is probably struggling with the foreclosure on her house is because she had to pay a lot of money just to repair the damages done to it by green goblin in the first one and that would have messed up her financially
In my opinion, a bigger reason would be the fact that Uncle Ben was attempting to find another job after being laid off, as he mentioned in the first movie. Cuz he passed away, unfortunately, she is forced to live alone and Peter's salary of course, cannot compensate for that.
