Spider-Man 2 still has the best opening titles of any comic book movie. Danny Elfman's moody and whimsical score exactly as it was in the first movie, the beautiful Alex Ross artwork that does a great recap of the first movie. It beautifully homages comics as an art form and plants the audiences feet in a comic book universe. The mixture of photography and art with abstract shapes that almost looks like the black lines on Spider-Man's costume which split up the images like comic panels. It acknowledges both film and comics as art forms. Unlike the opening of Superman ll which feels more like a clip show, here we're following the first film from beginning to end looking at all the important character and thematic beats that the sequel is going to follow up on. Peter using his powers for his own gain, letting the burgular escape after the fight promoter cheats him out of his money, Uncle Ben's death, MJ kissing Spider-Man in the alleyway, and Peter turning MJ down at Norman's funeral to keep her safe. What's great is that right after the image of Peter standing over his Uncle's body, we see the classic split Peter Parker/Spider-Man face that shows up in the comics all the time. He's learning the responsibility lesson his Uncle told him about, so he can use his powers to help people instead of using them selfishly as his villains do. Unlike a lot of other superheroes, Peter and Spider-Man are one and the same all the time and all the conflicts in his life come from him having to live a double life. I love the sad but determined expression Ross gives Peter in that image. It captures what the character is all about beautifully. Raimi did a good job capturing the serialized nature of Spider-Man stories in these films even though he could only make one every couple of years. These aren't disconnected adventures, it's an ongoing drama. Reminding the audience what happened last time is perfect because It's building on things the first film did like Norman's death and Harry finding Spider-Man with his father's body. Another great image is Norman Osborn/ Green Goblin being reflected in Spider-Man's eye since not only is the mask a lot scarier then the one in the first film, but also because Peter is the only one who knows that his best friend's father is also a supervillain and because like Spider-Man, Norman has a dual identity and he is a dark mirror of Spider-Man.

ZnCsp3cial The greatest problem (of numerous problems) i find with the Spider-man reboot is the villains. I'm sorry, but they're just unforgivably terrible!!! Doctor Connor didn't receive the sufficient screen time treatment he rightfully deserved, and in the second film, even with the lighthearted, slightly cheesy tone, Goblin and Electro took themselves so god damn seriously. The only funny character was The Rhino, but he didn't get enough screen time to entertain me as audience member. I wouldn't be as harsh to the reboot if it devoted more time to developing and exploring personality of these villains so that we can understand why they are so serious, but it didn't - to me, they are altogether just underwhelming.
Just imagine in the theatres when people were seated while this theme ran... would have had no idea that they were about to witness one of the iconic movie in the history of cinema..and the best spiderman movie ever made.
RODRIGO LEIJA Yeah at first I tried going to Gamestop recently. They said they don't sell games that old anymore. It costa around $30 bucks on amazon, way more than it would elsewhere but its such a good game I'll be willing to buy it
So much nostalgia. Regardless of what you think of the movies themselves, the opening sequences and themes for the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies are just fantastic.
TheBerryBawss the movie and intro itself is boring lol the intro theme is the only thing people think its better than the amazing spiderman when that film is funnier lol. I thought you kids need funny movies to rate it better than the original one lololollolololol
The story in the Raimi movies were better, the pacing, the music score, better villains, hell Uncle Ben mattered more in the Raimi movies than he ever did in TASM movies, the origin story was better told and memorable than it was in TASM. The intros/opening credits being better is just a bonus. TASM movies were unfocused, messy, drivel that never should've been made. Watch TASM1 then watch TASM2 they don't even feel like they're part of the same fucking franchise. But since Spider-Man jokes around a tad bit more in TASM, we're supposed to ignore all of that.
In part 1, when Peter was in the wrestling match, he told the guy his name was the Human Spider. But guess what the guy said his name was? No, not Spider Man, he said the Amazing Spider Man. But for some reason they kept the name Spider Man. Kinda weird.
Chris Nolan is the sole reason why people want superheroes realistic as possible. But, Sam Raimi proved how you can merge both worlds and that is my boy.
The second spider man opening scene will always be my favorite because of this sound effect 0:32 that gives me chills while sounding badass at the same time
Dr Strange petty much said they were either killed or defeated at the hands of Spiderman so this technically provides proof that the other Spidermen are in No Way Home
this song has everything.. tragedy.. sadness power silence.. THIS IS THE EQUIVALENT OF A PERFECT Superhero Theme 2:42 almost makes me cry every fucking time.. these are epic moments in comic book history..
Yes and also the thing I don’t like about the Holland movies is that they don’t have cool opening credits sequence with all these drawings and a great theme layered with it
J. Jonah Jameson: He was a--a thief! A criminal! He stole my suit! He's a menace to the entire city! I want that wall-crawling arachnid prosecuted! I want him strung up by his web! I want Spider-Man!!!
Happy 20th Anniversary to the film that not only gave me my love for Superheros but also for Spider-man! This was the first film I watched in the original trilogy and still remains one of my favorite Spider-man films of all time!
"She looks at me everyday. Mary Jane Watson, oh boy. If only she knew how I felt about her... but she can never know. I made a choice once to live a life of responsibility; a life she can never be apart of. Who am I? I'm Spider-Man given a job to do. And I'm also Peter Parker, and I too have a job." You can argue that Tom is better all you want, with the jokes and the age... but that.... that right there is proof that Raimi's version always understoof the character more.
Wrong. There is no definitive Spider-Man. Just looking for nostalgic excuses to hate. He's not the true Spider-Man, none of the actors were. Can you just appreciate what's given to you? Bloody.
I like tom holland but a big problem with MCU spidey is he's too fucking childish. Spiderman is a kid who was forced to grow and man up in the face of tragedy. Holland is really just a kid.

1:58 this part still gives me goosebumps after years proud to be born in trilogy era

Just imagine in the theatres when people were seated while this theme ran... would have had no idea that they were about to witness one of the iconic movie in the history of cinema..and the best spiderman movie ever made.
I went to see it when it premiered as a kid and it was epic! Good times. 😭
Real talk
Dont have to imagine it - I was there and it was glorious. One the fondest memorious i had as a kid.
Our dad took us to this movie. I was 12, my brother was 9. I'm 31 today. Nothing came even close to this masterpiece till date. Sorry MCU.
2:42 was beautifully well placed with the music. Made me think of the words “with great power, comes great responsibility”
1:42 I will have goosebumps for the rest of my life
That's as heroic sounding as it gets
To this day..... the day I lost my Spider 2 videogame copy is the saddest one I ever lived.
TheBerryBawss Gamecube. Not PC
RODRIGO LEIJA Yeah at first I tried going to Gamestop recently. They said they don't sell games that old anymore. It costa around $30 bucks on amazon, way more than it would elsewhere but its such a good game I'll be willing to buy it
Oh man I hate that game on ps2. It fucking rocked.
Lmao RIP my condolences :(
Arachnid Did you find it?
This movie also spawned the best Spider-Man game of all time.
Super3dBoy 3 did too
*cough* Spiderman 3 for the Ps2 *cough*
Karate Caveman it's not as good as spiderman 2 tbh...
Until spiderman ps4
PIZZA TIME!!!
lmao u thought
I can confidently put my nostalgia glasses off and say this is a masterpiece
My favorite part is always at 0:23 it just sounds so awesome
0:51 is my favorite part.
So much nostalgia.
Regardless of what you think of the movies themselves, the opening sequences and themes for the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies are just fantastic.
those movies are classics
We must do a new movie called "PORNOMAN"
TheBerryBawss the movie and intro itself is boring lol the intro theme is the only thing people think its better than the amazing spiderman when that film is funnier lol. I thought you kids need funny movies to rate it better than the original one lololollolololol
***** lol no comebacks lol
The story in the Raimi movies were better, the pacing, the music score, better villains, hell Uncle Ben mattered more in the Raimi movies than he ever did in TASM movies, the origin story was better told and memorable than it was in TASM. The intros/opening credits being better is just a bonus. TASM movies were unfocused, messy, drivel that never should've been made. Watch TASM1 then watch TASM2 they don't even feel like they're part of the same fucking franchise. But since Spider-Man jokes around a tad bit more in TASM, we're supposed to ignore all of that.
you just watched the new spiderman trailer and returned to this masterpiece
1:37 love the goblin in his eye part. Especially when Ocks theme gets intense
This is the real Amazing Spider-man.
Yes!!!
In part 1, when Peter was in the wrestling match, he told the guy his name was the Human Spider. But guess what the guy said his name was? No, not Spider Man, he said the Amazing Spider Man. But for some reason they kept the name Spider Man. Kinda weird.
In comics he is called amazing sometimes sensational sometimes and spectacular sometimes kinda like they call Batman the caped crusader
or how they call hulk the incredible hulk
Ride The Lightning He is not AMAZING Spider-Man, He is The SPIDER-MAN...
Chris Nolan is the sole reason why people want superheroes realistic as possible. But, Sam Raimi proved how you can merge both worlds and that is my boy.
Yeah
Nolan batman sucks
Raimi made me a fan of this genre
Sam Raimi is THE fucking man
Imagine Tobey Maguire return in spiderman 3 multiverse with this theme...
this has to happen

20 years later and still the best Spider-man movie
"She looks at me everyday. Mary Jane Watson, oh boy. If only she knew how I felt about her... but she can never know. I made a choice once to live a life of responsibility; a life she can never be apart of. Who am I? I'm Spider-Man given a job to do. And I'm also Peter Parker, and I too have a job."
You can argue that Tom is better all you want, with the jokes and the age... but that.... that right there is proof that Raimi's version always understoof the character more.
"Parker! Parker! No no no! Stop! STOP!"
Wrong. There is no definitive Spider-Man. Just looking for nostalgic excuses to hate.

@@fredv6237 hey are you in the wrong comment or something? No one here said anything about something being definitive. You need help m8.
I like tom holland but a big problem with MCU spidey is he's too fucking childish. Spiderman is a kid who was forced to grow and man up in the face of tragedy. Holland is really just a kid.

Why did Marvel movies stop being heroic and became child humor instead?
Because people are stupid now) and they will eat anything)

Because of that dumbass Joss Whedon.
Because people thought it was funny at first, demanded more of that tone and Disney just doubled down.... It's the audience's fault.
