I am on my second LS430, and they run wonderfully... Amazingly, 100-150K mileage models are currently available for about $9000. My 2005 was totaled at 220,000 miles, and my insurance company gave me $8900 to buy another one. "Quite torquey" is an understatement. They haul ass. Push the ETC button, and it accelerates even better. I have never seen 26MPG, but I am a still loving the acceleration.

Depending on driving conditions for those miles, it's time to start paying attention to the upper and lower control arms for that year. Never get it wet under the hood or in the trunk.
@@gt-c- The electrical connectors in all modern cars are subject to slow corrosion, if they get wet. All sorts of electrical gremlins can result over the following months or even years. He payed close to $80K at the time. I remember swearing to myself that I would own a car like this one day Here I am 16 years later and still nope....lol
By far still my favorite Lexus. The quality of their vehicles at that time is unmatched. I sometimes long for the yesteryears of Lexus. Great videography!
It still is unmatched. You just have to pay for it. I just got my first Lexus coming from driving Honda’s since 2005. Let me tell you. They make the best cars on the road.
Our family 2004 RX330 has 275,000 miles. Original transmission and engine. Other than normal wear and tear, the only thing that broke was the A/C compressor. I'm surprised that the motor that moves the steering wheel out of the way EVERY time you get in and out of the car still works. No oil or other fluid leaks at all.. that's impressive! ;p
I have a fully loaded 1998 LS400 with 22000 miles on it. In fact it came with a certificate stating that it was the first Lexus sold in California equipped with GPS.
You did a wonderful job on this video. I was kinda surprised when this showed up in my feed. I enjoyed the history behind the LS that you included as well! I hope you decide to do more car reviews like this. Magnificent.
Mercedes & BMW are so over rated, after the warranty expires these cars have no resale value, they are nothing but unreliable, next to impossible to repair
imho THIS is how reviews are to be done. semi short, full of info, some driving clips, a doug demuro reference, it has it all. and around 116k miles this car is still a baby
Great video, I love my 2006 Lexus LS430. It still runs strong with over 170k miles and I get compliments on how well "Luther" looks! (Lex Luth...., you get it!)
Digital Swagg I have a silver 2006 as well,my son gave me. Had it now over 3 years, and never get tired driving or riding in it. It has over 190K miles on it and you'd never know that as rides and drives like a new one.
I had the 2002 model and absolutely loved it. Its like a living room on wheels. Got 25pmg, great excelleration and had an unbelievably tight turning radius for a car its size. I'd still be driving it if I hadnt moved to the mountains. One of the best cars ever made.
I'd have to argue the 2001-2003 we're even quieter and more reliable, however the 2004-2006 cars get you the cooled rear seats and updated headlights 😁 Crazy to think my 2001 Ultra Luxury had radar cruise 15+ years before mainstream car manufacturers
+David Bello Thank you for making what has to be the best review of a Lexus LS430 on RUclips. If this doesn't convince people this is hands down the most reliable, efficient, luxurious and well built luxury vehicle of it's time..and even today..then nothing will. Bravo, sir! 😉
Fantastic video. Car was way ahead of its time. I owned a 2001 model in Ultra Luxury trim until a deer jumped in front of the car. @@JESUS_IS_GOD Sales doesn't translate to better quality and reliability. It's really simple. Mercedes resale value is has taken a hit in the past 10+ years, they have a very low resale value, and that's partly due to their lower quality and reliability scores. They have maybe 2 models that rate well in quality and reliability, and everything else is subpar. I would always choose Lexus over Mercedes, much better car for the money.

I spoke to a Lexus engineer about this car. He said that 2004 is absolutely the sweet spot model year wise (as in the actual year it was built, not MY as you Americans state, ergo, the year after.) He said that the 2004 430 defines the word bulletproof and basically every single last component was built to last practically forever. I really really want one of these but they are so hard to find in the UK, or if they do come up, they command a stupidly high price.
Doug is extremely Biased in has reviews, has a scoring system that makes no sense, and refuses to make his videos with anything other than imovie Doug will review a car thats a 10/10 and still shit on it if its a brand he doesn't like, and he doesn't hide it either. I have an 04 and LOVE it!. Bought it from the original owner in 2017 with 55k on the odometer. In 2 years I'm up to 120k. Not one problem. Just regular service and it runs perfectly. Luxurious, comfortable and fast when needed. I want to try to get 500k out of it. Tempted to get a newer car, but why? Love my Lexus LS430. Great review of this timeless car!
I have a 2001 LS. It's a tanker on clouds. If you find one, owned by a older person. Buy it!! You'll have a Japanese built gem. The Japanese take pride on building there Lexus.
One of the greatest cars ever produced. Anyone thinking about buying a new Lexus? Save your money. I have 2 new ones, RX 350 and IS 350, and they are full of plastic, drive like a top heavy bookshelf, and lack the wow factor that warrants a 55k and 60k dollar price tag. Buy one of these in the best condition you can and just make sure all the suspension is in good working condition along with all the usual stuff. People dont usually get rid of these cars for no reason. Usually ride quality is what makes Lexus owners trade or sell, not new body styles. I have bought many that I thought just needed an alignment and tires and ended up needing bushings, tie rods, ball joints, and steering rack bushing to get riding like from the factory again. Never buy aftermarket parts unless they are cosmetic and non functional and even then...Personally I would trade my new RX and IS for a 2009 GX and 2012 LS any day of the week. Even 2009 RX 350 and 2009 GS350. The mid 2000s Lexus cars have nicer leather, more wood grain, heavier feel, softer materials inside, and carpets and trim and accents all seem nicer and built better. When they changed to spindle grill in 2014, 2016 for RX, they also started making plasticy interiors, cheaper leather interiors (soft tex standard on some and leather is an option now) and gearing their transmissions for high mpg ratings. These 8 speed transmissions surge, search for gears, feel unstable and hesitate like no other. Software updates help but dont fix. Get the RX450 hybrid with the CVt if you must buy a new Lexus SUV or go one step higher to GX. I would rather drive a mint RX300 than the new RX350. Ugh 2010-2012 LS 2006-2015 RX 2007-2013 Es 2008-2012 GS 2011-2014 GX 2008-2013 Lx
Perfect!! I drove many of these while I was parking cars in the late 2000 s and I loved it!!! One of the best interiors and quality cars I have ever seen

Im not a big JDM person but I can tell for a fact how magnificent and how big the demand and desire the Japanese have for this car (though its rebadged as the Toyota Celsior). There are good few Japanese youtubers with this car and ive learnt and started to like this car. Back in 2015 I got picked up by one of these by a car service from CT to JFK. At first I thought "hey its a Lexus LS cool but whatever". It had 150,000 miles but my god it drove smooth as silk and comfy. Every bump and pothole on the Bronx Highway that I was aware and braced for life in my BMW E90, the Lexus just drove over them like it was nothing.. My Great Aunt also used to own a (Toyota Celsior) Lexus LS400 from new back in 1989 till 2014, it had over 200,000km NOT A SINGLE ISSUE!! When I first got into it back in 2011 and saw it in my mind I was thinking "what an old heap of junk" when I was driven in it, it was so comfortable I couldn't believe it. Everytime we have family gatherings and her LS came up, she always was debating whether to sell it or not due it its age but like I said it had no issues whats so ever..Eventually though... she traded it in with to a Lexus HS......basically a Lexus Prius...sad but she wanted something new and smaller being that shes 79 years old.
I like You coming from a 240, am seriously shook and made happy by anything with more than 200hp. I remember when I first test drove my Polestar V60 I chuckled the whole way around the block, too much power!
David Bello Actually the S80 is equal to a LS. The S80 has a 200 hp non- turbo straight six, 268 hp twin turbo straight 6, then a 310 hp V8. I believe the S60 only had non-turbo and turbo 4cyl. Maybe a 5 cyl. The Polestar was a different animal altogether!
Love these cars...especially the nice cars you only make 1 payment on (1 payment at time of purchase #paidfor vs. 72 payments like your neighbors do). I have a 2007 Sequoia - wife has Avalon they will run forever. This Lexus is on my list next.
You can’t beat em. I own an 06 and no car beats it IMO. I hate the looks of these cars today so I will buy used low mileage (under 40,000 miles) Lexus 04-06 LS. I have 2 now. This way with parts that I’m working on I should have replacement parts for most everything for the next 10 to 15 years. And my one Lexus now has 112,000 miles and I have spent since new only 600 on repairs. Beat that.

* * The LS430 was the last Lexus that was PERFECT!
I have the 2001 model with 158,000 miles on it original buyer and owner since...and still looks, drive and feels LIKE IN THE FIRST DAY! WILL NEVER SELL IT! * *
Depending on driving conditions for those miles, it's time to start paying attention to the upper and lower control arms for that year. Never get it wet under the hood or in the trunk.
@@wholeNwon "Never get it wet under the hood or in the trunk"...care to explain?
@@gt-c- The electrical connectors in all modern cars are subject to slow corrosion, if they get wet. All sorts of electrical gremlins can result over the following months or even years. The right trunk well of the LS430 contains an important computer and several other vulnerable components. Water can collect there.
I see why main stream rappers and hip hop artists rapped about Lexus cars in the early 2000's
Kyron Poullard
In the 90's too! 👍
Mostly In the 90's by rappers from New York, like biggie, jay z, Nas, Lil Kim, Lil Cease, Foxy Brown, and others. Nas owned a white SC400, Jay Z owned a white GS300 and biggie owned the red Land Cruiser but mention Lexus LX4 and a half and had a white LS400 limousine in Players anthem video

This was my favorite style of Lexus LS ever. Classic look and superlative drive. I would buy one for my mom if I could.
Almost made me cry. Used to have an 2005 LS430, had some other Lexus models after in the meantime but nothing stands out like that one. Now unfortunately have a 2019 Mercedes B 200D, watching this makes me want to go trade in that terrible Mercedes for one of these bad boys again
I remember there was a Coach edition of this car too and it came with a leather coach bag in the trunk. A boss of mine actually bought one of these new and I was in awe. He payed close to $80K at the time. I remember swearing to myself that I would own a car like this one day

By far still my favorite Lexus. The quality of their vehicles at that time is unmatched. I sometimes long for the yesteryears of Lexus. Great videography!
Carolina King same here
Carolina King I still think that The LFA is the ultimate Lexus- how much engineering went into the fast and high Regung V10 + the sound is insane.

@@JESUS_IS_GOD Sales doesn't translate to better quality and reliability. It's really simple. Mercedes resale value is has taken a hit in the past 10+ years, they have a very low resale value, and that's partly due to their lower quality and reliability scores.

Ugh

2006-2015 RX

I had same model for 3 year and it feels amazing to drive...
Lexus/Toyota ..the are best on road.
I like You coming from a 240, am seriously shook and made happy by anything with more than 200hp. I remember when I first test drove my Polestar V60 I chuckled the whole way around the block, too much power!
Le Leedler thank you :) the S60R is a lot of fun too, but on paper it’s the same as the LS. It would be fun to compare those two
David Bello Actually the S80 is equal to a LS. The S80 has a 200 hp non- turbo straight six, 268 hp twin turbo straight 6, then a 310 hp V8.
I believe the S60 only had non-turbo and turbo 4cyl. Maybe a 5 cyl.

If not, the dreaded red triangle may come on. It has happened and the car was bucking and jumping around until I drove the piss out of it on I-95 here in south Florida.
