We come to these to see people fall in love with David in under 30 seconds.
Yup.
Yoy ain't lying 😂
Happened to me too, 21 years ago when I first heard Stupify
That, and watch thier faces when he hits the fry haha. Goosebumps every time and ive seen and heard it at least 500 times. Sometimes 20 times in a row watching these guys haha
He's got a purty mouth.
Most people think music is made to be heard.
It's not made to be heard, it's made to be felt.
THANK YOU!!! So true!
Amen brother
Great comment!!!
👌🏼🍻
Its both..)
I've heard this probably well over a hundred times, and I get goosebumps every single time I hear it. Every. Single. Time.
Me too !!!!
Me too. I cry. Every. Single. Time.
Teary-eyed time & time again
Omg yes. I’ve listened to like thirty and it still chills me up
Same here. Not just goosebumps. I cry every single time. This is so good.
Every pro singer who hears this for the first time is bowled over like they've never heard music. Such a powerful performance
i actually found only a couple of reactions with people who disliked this version. how can one dislike it??
Let’s all just agree that this is the best performance live ever.
That's a bold claim, I completley back it. I get chills multiple times. EVERY single time I listen to it.
hmm there is many other incredible live performence out there, but definetly one of the best imo
It’s actually so far from the best live performance lol. It’s very good but there are so many better than this.
@@jking8025 And that's your opinion.
@@mikeguerrero7416 Yes...obviously. Just like it was op’s opinion that this is the best lol. Thanks captain obvious.
I've been in this rabbit hole for days and it doesn't get old watching that wow moment or multiple wow moments which this song has, but I truly loved watching your expression at the very beginning of the song the first 60 seconds it was pure excitement and then about minute 1:08 you went from excitement to wonder and amazement I literally watched your eyes light up and that was priceless, also even after many many times listening to this song I still get emotional at that same part it never fails.
I'm currently in the same rabbit hole, having just discovered David's cover a day ago. I also love to see those reactions when other people become moved by his performance. I could see the moment her eyes welled up and it was beautiful
He's one of the greatest vocalists ever. He's one of a kind.
I started listening to Disturbed in the early 2000s. It's almost sad that it took 20 years for people to catch the f on.
If I remember correctly hes classically trained, and young me got mad af that he was just lumped in with the butt rock bands.
Freddy Mercury said you’re wrong.
@@jarraandyftm can you read? He wrote one of the best. Not the best! There is a difference!
@@jalliboy i can read yes. I was getting at the fact he’s THE best vocalist, not one of the best.
Please let's not forget. This is LIVE and he was SICK!
He was literally "Down with the Sickness." Sorry, had to.
And he was sitting.

Always LIKED the ORIGINAL by Simon and Garfunkel, but never paid much attention to the Lyrics.
Along comes DISTURBED w David Draiman and DEMANDS me to LISTEN to the songs' MESSAGE.
Music touches and changes us in an instance.
Davids voice is one of those vocalist who's tone of voice touches our
I read someone else explain it that Simon and Garfunkel sang a warning, David is singing it like this because no one listened.
Yes. This exactly.
You HEAR Simon and Garfunkel's version.
You FEEL Disturbed's version...
@@protospace270 y, I guess that's a way of looking at it, but I haven't come across any interview where David Draiman has said those words. I have to say, I haven't listened to every interview of him...
@@nathanielbarr497 yes! ;)
metalheads can not sing only yell and scream and growl
David: hold my beer please
What amazes me it that he did it while sitting and while sick.
He was sick, because of that there was a little bit of autotune happening. But Dave was furious when he was told about that.
@@arze1226 When you ever tried autotune..you have to sing really well to the notes, else it will sound fucked up. SO...he sang it well. I couldn't do it better..not within a million miles.
He's was Down With the Sickness.
He had or just getting over the flu when this was recorded
Hell yeah 3 weeks
His voice takes you for a ride and it is amazing !!!!!
Down with the Sickness is their first and probably most infamous song for its "Ooooh Waaah Ah Ah Ah" chorus
Stupify was actually their first single/hit.
But yes, you need to do a reaction video for Down With the Sickness. The band has a very successful run as the definitive Heavy Metal band.
From Dawn of the Dead
I wish I could go back in time and listen to this song for the first time. When I first heard it, I was driving in the car with the radio down, and I just wish I could have given myself the experience that this song deserves. I love watching people like yourself, Serene, listening to this for that precious first time.
Jinjer Pisces and Nightwish Ghost Love Score (live) Metal isnt what people think it is
Both of those are practically must-see videos for any reaction channel. Also both bands have large dedicated armies of fans and both songs are ones that fans and non-fans alike actively seek out because they are epic songs that evoke powerful reactions.
GLS goes a bit long, but even though I'm not really a NW fan, I gotta say it is well worth the slow burn. ;) There are two official live videos with exactly the same title, but fans prefer the Wacken one with 4x the views. Personally I find the earlier one incredibly charming when the lead guitarist is fanboying over the new singer at the end, but you'll get a ton of people saying you did the wrong one if you do that one. And pro tip: when you see the girl looking like she's having a religious experience at 8m 27s do any comments you want then let the rest play out. ;)
Pisces is different - it says it is a live session but the live session was to record the drummer, still worth doing but plan to follow up later with a concert performance if you don't hate it and the fans will give you plenty of suggestions. Or you could cut to the chase with Perennial live at Wacken but you'll miss a lot of views and there is a twist that will be spoiled if you don't do Pisces first. };D>
What's so touching to me is that the emotion matches the lyrics perfectly in a way that the original does not. It's an insanely great cover.
It's called "pathos". Most artists can't do it in their own music.
People who live Edgar Allan Poe performance get it.
It's digging deep and pulling the guts out of the world to make people feel the spade digging your being out of the words.
If you aren't ready to sign commitment papers on a Poe performer, they failed.
David did this to Silence.
I can see from your playlist that you have not found Floor Jansen or Nightwish. Do yourself and your subscribers a huge favor and listen to anything by Floor from Beste Zangers 2019 or Nightwish, Wacken 2013. I guarantee that you will not only love it but they will become your new favorites.
Stephen Clark I concur, Floor is one of the best singers I’ve ever heard.
I third the motion!
I guarantee that your 1st guarantee will be right but your 2nd guarantee is wrong and they will not become her new favorites.
I fourth the motion - MOTION CARRIED. Floor Jansen and Nightwish - Ghost Love Score. She is one of the most talented singers (male or female) on the planet, and the band is the best band that you have never heard of.
I warn you though, it is a rabbit hole - if you listen to one song, you are instantly addicted and must listen to all of them.
I DARE YOU TO LISTEN TO IT :D Ghost Love Score, Live at Wacken.
PEACE
@@Demonezia you mad man.. one sent her straight into floorgasms..
The first time I EVER heard this song I was sobbing like my dog died. I always knew David was talented but THIS hit my heart in such an intense way I couldn't hold it. My girlfriend witnessed my first reaction and she was like "What's wrong? Babe what's wrong what happened?" I said "Oh you gotta hear this. Disturbed out did themselves." She listened and she MELTED. She started crying just as hard. 😂 David is amazing
When he goes into his rasp it shares his anger and frustration that he isn't able to reach people....
I have fallen down the rabbit hole of watching everyone react to this. I love that every reaction is just stunned silence. Speaks volumes of how incredible this rendition is. Especially since he was sick when he did this live. You should listen to the recorded version as well.
His voice in this song causes everyone to tear up
actual emotion to music is a hard thing to find. subbed
The reason why his voice moves people so much in this song is not simply vocal proficiency and talent, but it’s his PASSION. He sings with an immense amount of emotional intensity and he sings from the HEART. While he’s singing, he looks like he’s getting lost in the story and feels the message that’s being portrayed. When someone sings in this kind of way, it causes the listeners to feel all kinds of things!! Bravo David Draimen 💕
"Because, I'm not into heavy metal..." yet it was the heavy metal that brought you the full emotion including the rage and pain, that brought you to tears. This is beautiful.
Someone once said;
God asked David if he wanted the voice of an Angel or a Demon.
David smiled and said ‘yes’.

I am not a big metal fan but there is something about David's voice & disturbed I love. It's more rock/ metal. God bless I loved your reaction. I love this version of this song I'm glad you do too
When David adds the gravel to his voice really makes you feel the emotion of the lyric. I've heard this cover many times and I never fail to get chills.
His voice lends SO MUCH gravitas to this, already, beautiful song!
I LOVE how everyone becomes misty-eyed at the same parts. Just an amazing rendition and experience to listen to.
this mans voice is as good as it gets. so strong, so accurate. awsome.
That doesn't make you "soft", it makes you sapient.
Well said. "I feel, therefore I am."
The original in 1965 came across as a warning to the world about the failures to communicate with each other. David's voice is perfect for this rendition 50 years later to get across the anger for the world not listening to the first warning.
David was classically trained prior to going to Heavy Metal. He's well known for his raspy sound, not as well known for his classical training...until now. I love watching reaction videos to this track because it has ushered in a new era of Disturbed's music. They have a couple other touching tracks you might want to check out. 'A Reason to Fight' has an important message to it, strongly recommend that one, both the live and music video versions are important in their own way. Another good one would be 'Hold on to Memories'
Enjoyed your reaction :) this is the first I've seen your channel
I he was trained as cantor as a boy.
I had a reason to fight on repeat for months, live that song, film clip is awesome too.
Love this song and your reaction to it 💕
If this is from Conan, he was sick when,he performed. He was going to cancel, but decided to go ahead with it.
Yes, this was the Conan version 👍
You could also you know... watch the clip before commenting on it?
He was also pissed backstage after cuz they added autotune without telling him even though he doesn't need it.
I’ve seen version like bajillion times now. You can just look at him and see how unwell he is. Poor guy,
David’s voice grabs you like vanhalens guitar sound grabs you
Wow! The best live performance i have ever heard. Better than the studio version. You don't just hear his voice.. you 'feel' it. I've got goosebumps and tears in my eyes...
His voice gives me chills. Check out Down with the sickness.
You might enjoy Jinjer's Pisces (the live session). Do not read any reviews of their music first.
You are giving me a Tiffany vibe with your style.
The studio performance is so much more intense. If you enjoyed this, you should watch that version along with the music video. You can hear so much more of what's going on in his voice and it hits you even more. I'm willing to bet you would really enjoy that one too.
Having listened to the studio version first and then seeing this performance, I LOVE how much he really dug into the "praaaaayyyed" at 4:56 - It almost felt like fanservice to fans of the studio version.
You must must must watch the music video sound of silence by Disturbed!!!
Jinjer-Pisces would be a great follow up to this reaction. Also if what they are all about you need to do “Down with the sickness”
David Draiman comes from an orthodox Jewish family and was classically trained as a cantor. In my opinion, there is no other male vocalist alive whose voice compares with David's on this track. He gives quite simply, an amazing performance here. Serene, your reaction to this song is exactly the same as mine and probably millions of others on first hearing, and when you see how many people have checked out the official video, you can see how popular this version is around the world. Apparently, Paul Simon loves this version too, and that's a hell of a compliment.
You need to be introduced to one of the most versatile women in metal right now. The classically trained Floor Jansen turns anything to gold that she touches. She is the current lead singer for the "Symphonic Metal" band Nightwish.
Please check out Nightwish - Ghost Love Score(live in Wacken 2013)

People can cover this all they want David controls his magnificent voice better than anyone I've ever ever heard.. Period one of a kind superbly trained vocalist. He can hear notes we can't.
I recommend Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt if you're into powerful songs.
Omg yes. Cried soooo many times listening to that and the video is so powerful. Another tear-jerker is Constance by Spiritbox.
He has such command of his voice, he puts passion in every word he sings and makes you understand the meaning of the song. Unreal!!!!
Try reacting to Disturbed "Hold on to Memories" and "The Light," and “Down with the Sickness” all are amazing and a vastly different side of the band.
Or Disturbed's cover of Land of Confusion by Genesis.
Listen to the song “Overburden” off the the Ten Thousand Fist album. Sooo goood!,
If you haven't already do disturbed down with the sickness. Thats their normal sound
I do have a metal band recommendation, or rather symphonic metal, which is an amazing genre of mixing metal music with elements of orchestral classical music together.
Nightwish - Ghost Love Score live at Waken 2013. Just to warn you if you do the Nightwish army will decend upon you, lol! They are a bunch of nice but very passionate fans
Too late. ;) The army has arrived and look to be about 90% of the comments here. :D
Everyone's suggesting Ghost Love Score @ Wacken 2013 (as they should), but I'd also add The Phantom of the Opera (Marko & Tarja) - another brilliant performance that shouldn't be forgotten.
@@michaelm.1947 Did the army go for a preemptive strike this time then? Lol!
What sucks about watching this video again and again is I can only turn the volume to 10... I want it at 20 and rip off the knob. physical emotionally stunning music.
If you want another very intelligent cover, then look for Shallow done by Floor Jansen. Let's just says she does something Lady Gaga does not.
The duet with Tim Akkerman is even better imho.
My parents were probably in elementary school when S&G released the first Sound of Silence. Never would I have fathomed a remake. I came across this from surfing you tube one night and thought “ no way in hell can someone remake that this will be insulting and make my ears bleed. By the second verse I wasn’t blinking I wasn’t moving it is the most incredible remake I’ve ever heard. I think S&G would give this a 2 thumbs up. And to think Simon wrote this when he was a 20 year old kid in college. Just WOW
I'm sure you get it a lot, but please react to Jinjer- Pisces (live session)
And yeah, important to do the live session 👍
One of the most reacted-to videos on YT.
It has been said that the Simon and Garfunkel version was made as a warning to society and the Disturbed version I was made as an angry reaction to society for not heeding the warning. - At least that’s what I read anyway, and it seems so very fitting.
After this performance, Paul Simon himself messaged David and said "It's your song now."
I can't imagine higher praise than that.
Disturbed did for this song what Johnny Cash did for Nine Inch Nail's "Hurt."
Absolutely true! You could actually FEEL Johnny Cash's actual and personal 'Hurt' when he sang it. Have you listened to David singing 'Hold On To Memories'? The official edition may be a be 'off putting' to some but I believe it blends with the lyrics quite well.
I absolutely agree. I think Sounds was written for David.. He explained it's true meaning through his performance.. Just like Johnny did for Hurt. I didn't much like the Nin version.. For me, they belittled what they were singing about... There's so much more to music than just singing or playing an instrument etc... There HAS to be emotion invested in it, you have to pass that on through the music, otherwise it's just an empty vessel. Like a lot of the music has become these days.. A means to make money.. Me personally? I like to connect with, and feel the music.. With Johnny, His investment in that song was pure. he's telling a story of his experience with it..
No, Paul did not message him and say that "It's your song now". So many people spreading this misinformation. Paul sent this "Really powerful performance on Conan the other day. First time I’d seen you do it live. Nice. Thanks.” To which David replied back “I am honored beyond words. We only hoped to pay homage and honor the brilliance of one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Your compliment means the world to me/us, and we are eternally grateful.”
@@JuanHughJorgan I watched an interview with David where he said that is exactly what Paul said to him.
And since he was the one who actually conversed with him, I'll take his account over yours any day.

From the simple crescendo of the orchestra to the different styles of voicing and use of his skilled voice the fact this song has soo many elements that were assembled perfectly... with a voice on loan from God this has to be one of the finest covers ever created... I think more people have covered Disturbed-The Sound of Silence than Simon and whats his name LOL... very nice insights and thanks for the thoughtful review. see you soon as you tube algorithms allow... lol (new sub...)
Simon and Garfunkel, my friend 😊
Now watch the official video. It's even better.
The original was a warning. This version seemed more of a condemnation. I think this arrangement gave the lyrics the gravity that the original couldn't as a folk song.
David Draiman....possibly the very best male vocalist out there. Not only sings with amazing technique and control ....but with emotion. Can go from a warm baritone with vibrato to tenor, from clear as a crystal bell to distortion and back on a dime. So damn talented. You might want to try " The Light" and "The Night".....not real heavy.....lol.....

One thing I absolutely adore about the live version is the very end when he holds "soooooooouuuuuuuuund..." Then pauses and let's that echo hit... Man it's perfect.

I will add, the official video of this is much more effective. 👍
Late to the party. I grew up with the music from the 60s and 70s thanks to my parents. I am horrible listening and hearing lyrics to songs. Simon and Garfunkel have wrote some of the greatest songs in the 20th century. I love the sound and harmonies from them. Disturbs version of sound of silence actually let me hear and understand the lyrics. The way they put this together and just spread what this song is all about is amazing. It is my dad's favorite song and he loves the original song.
The band he's in is metal, but David is a classically trained opera singer. His ability to go between clear vocals and the grit without hurting his voice is something special. This performance is something that people should never forget. It's truly special. The tears start to fall because of the lyrics of the song, there is something about the emotion he throws into the 2nd half of the performance with the grit that just speaks to your soul.
