- @Copwatchtv obtained lapel videos from the Espanola Police Department reference an arrest of the Rio Arriba Sheriff on 05-21-2020. The arrest stems from a case where he interfered in the arrest of a prominent public official in the county and interfering on a stand off with a suspect.
The sheriff is often allegedly drunk or intoxicated at scenes he shows up to uninvited. The Sheriff then tries to take command of scenes his agency isn't even involved in.
In this final episode of our 4 part series we see Taos County S.W.A.T, and Espanola Police serving a warrant for the Sheriff at his headquarters.
This is part 4 of a 5 part series involving the Rio Arriba Sheriff in Espanola, NM.

@@brodyszone157 there're are psychological test you have to pass in order to become law enforcement. Even some private police and security agencies have them. When I wanted to be hired as a mall cop I had to take a psych test before I could be cleared to work. I would think that these tests are a standard requirement for for all law enforcement agencies.

This is that good shit that proves there are both good cops and bad cops out there. Is the statement still one which you would call correct? If it's not then your position on cops might not be as well. Also yes I know people choose to be cops while they don't choose their race, but that's irrelevant here as we are talking about groups of people and whether they chose to be a part of that group or not doesn't matter as they are still part of that group either way.

This sherrif is a tool, for sure, but remember that sherrif's are typically not trained or certified. They're politicians, elected to the position. Most sherrifs don't have a need to know much about law enforcement, though I think it would be only a benefit if they did learn about law enforcement.

I haven’t heard of any becoming sheriff with out LE experience, usually it’s an individual coming from an outside agency or running from within. Do you know if any specific agencies that elected a sheriff with no experience?
The way the Sheriff lost all the bass in his voice the second they started marching him to the squad car to take him to jail 😂😂. He really didn’t think it was gonna end like that.
that sheriff is, hands down, the worst example of law enforcement I've ever seen.. I have 31 years on the Los Angeles police department and never have I seen a law enforcement officer act like that. Some of his actions could have led to the use of force, which would cause his officers, who have a sense of loyalty to their boss, to get involved. Since everyone there is armed and their tempers are high, you can see how that could've led to a very very bad deadly situation.
I'm guessing that's why so many are there & in full tactical? Those fat dimwitted yes-men aren't brave enough nor skilled enough to have fought back. But better safe than sorry.

House or post is just a generic term for area of authority. It has nothing to do with the building. Your post or house is the area under your authority. The under sheriff was accusing the police of violating that authority. The police officers had a warrant and had legal authority in that area, so it was a pissing contest of who's in authority and whether that authority is being usurped. Once the police finished they relinquished authority back to the under sheriff. The highest ranking officer at a scene is in charge unless someone of higher rank arrives. It's a pecking order.If someone violates the pecking order, they are acting outside their authority.

I was there that day and dropped a deuce into former Undersheriff Trujillo’s radiator.

The undersheriff is now facing the consequences of his unlawful actions. This is from October 14:
"Special Prosecutor Andrea Reeb has announced that on Tuesday evening after a three-hour preliminary hearing the Magistrate Judge David Segura found was probable cause that Martin Ray Trujillo, 53, of Espanola, committed solicitation to aggravated assault against a peace officer - deadly weapon, a fourth-degree felony."
"Trujillo faces up to 18 months in prison and a $5,000 fine. The case will now be assigned to District Court and will be scheduled for an arraignment."

I do not know who the Sheriff is, but since he is the Sheriff, he is the only officer in that video that the people have put in charge through a democratic election. Every other officer was essentially appointed to their position by an individual. Evidently, he was arrested because he "obstructed justice" by asking for an attorney and not unlocking his phone. Not only is it his right, he would be absolutely foolish not to exercise this right. In my opinion, the obstruction charge is complete BS. If they have a warrant for his phone, they are the ones responsible for performing the search. He does not have to assist them in gathering evidence to convict him of a crime. According to his statement regarding the incident that led up to this arrest he was attempting to keep someone safe from potential police abuse by this same police department. Regarding his actions to interfere with SWAT team arresting a suspect, "His main concern, Lujan said, was to make sure Chacon was not hurt. He said he knows of several incidents in the past year that were captured on lapel footage where Española officers were seen hurting people." Someone should be investigating this police department as well.

I have to agree. It would not hurt to cuff and detain the undersheriff. At the very least he comes across as to distract, agitate, and to assist his sheriff in preventing the warrent from being inacted. Seems best to take him out of the picture for the time being until all is completed so to insure things do not exculate or that he does not cause some distraction to complete the task. Just his adutation seems like a situation where officers will cuff a subject for each others safty.

Roflmao local municipalities in most places rely on sheriffs offices. I think your out of touch with reality. In 90% of the country a year at a sheriffs office is worth 5 at a local municipality.
