  • Опубликовано: 8 июл 2020
  • @Copwatchtvreceived video from the New Mexico State Police of embattled Rio Arriba County Sheriff James Lujan. The video shows the Sheriff turning himself in to the New Mexico State Police on June 3rd, 2020 in Espanola, New Mexico. The Sheriff was facing two additional felony charges from the Ninth Judicial District Attorney. The charges are harboring or aiding a felon, and threatening a witness, which are fourth- and third-degree felonies, respectively.
Sheriff Lujan agreed to turn himself after his lawyer and the DA came to an agreement.
Present during the arrest were his attorney, Nathaniel Thompkins, and investigators from the Ninth Judicial District Attorney's Andrea Reeb’s office.
Ninth Judicial District Attorney Senior Investigator Adriana Munoz believes she has established probable cause to show that Lujan may have committed two felonies: harboring or aiding a felon, and bribery or intimidation of a witness.
The warrant was issued by Los Alamos Magistrate Court Judge Pat Casados on the early morning of June 3rd.
Sheriff Lujan wanted to be transported to Santa Fe County Jail, but changed his mind to Los Alamos County Jail.
Lujan had his first court appearance in early June and the case is awaiting further details.
The New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy Director said Lujan's suspension is imminent due to the felony charges. The suspension will remove Lujan from any "police" work and he will become an administrative sheriff.

I lived in NM when this crap went down.
The way Lujan tried to walk all over arresting officers & pull his crap w giving his phones to the undersheriff then switching them up was infuriating. The undersheriff acting like he’d take a bullet for him was ridiculous as well. It’s the New Mexico version of Andy Griffith..gone bad.
And ffs w the cuff drama. Idc if they were literally slicing thru my wrists, Id just deal.

He may be guilty of being arrogant, and not cooperating with an investigation against himself. (who would).
He also, is only facing misdemeanour charge's... There may be chatter of deeper criminal activities, but there
is no evidence, witness or lead showing/stating that to be the case. The Police have searched under warrant, his home,
his office, computers and devices, and other than the original misdemeanour charges, there are zero investigations or charges ongoing.
But you are insinuating that he knowingly lock's up innocent people, and it was a common thing for him,
that he has a chemical imbalance, and that the misery and distress he is experiencing, leaves you with a
      feeling of Contentedness.
It seems you are the one, who so condemns, the innocent.
Just as your namesake was condemned, even though being innocent.

What's funny is when he initially was arrested ,as soon as the cuffs went on he was complaining the whole time it's too tight, ouch that hurts. Wonder how many times he slammed cuffs on a suspect and ignored the suspect complaining they are really too tight. Sucks when the cuffs are on the other hand.

Where I live we had a great sheriff who replaced a bad one. When re-election happened he was voted out for another cheater and liar who is being investigated for questionable situations that happened years ago. However he still got elected. It’s really sad. This guy is worse than the first one kicked out. I can see what’s happening here to be similar to our area in the future. Really sad

The sheriff totally overstepped his bounds and the undersheriff it seem like his deputies have more loyalty to the sheriff then they do their oath as a peace officer. Isn’t sheriff an elected position? And the police gave him the professional courtesy in the beginning to do what the warrant said instead he had to drag it out And this is what happens when you screw up.
