I loved hoopa clash of ages
I think there should be ultra beasts vs sinnoh legendary movie
Probably Zamazenta and Zacian
Tears for Ash is still one of the saddest scenes in all of Pokémon
Pokemon idea list is best shorts
Stuff like what you find on yt channel “Pokemon Kids TV Japan” PokeToons
It’s everything the anime should be imo
In my opinion the early 2000's were a golden age for Pokemon movies!!!
Warner Bros. did the rights for the original 'Mewtwo Strikes Back(M01)'?
Indeed they were.
I couldn't agree more! :)
Undeniably that was the era for Pokémon here in the USA!
I hate the newer Pokémon movies and series so much
Pokémon: The Rise of Darkrai is my favorite Pokémon movie, and I’m glad that it’s really high on this list.
The first movie after M01, M03 & M06?
Ltrly I wish pokemon could turn back to being like that, new pokemon are trashy and movies ain't satisfying 🥲
If we don’t get to hunt darkrai in brilliant diamond and shining pearl I’ll be mad
@@ig7742 What about Mewtwo?
@@brianodonnell4496 what about mewtwo?
Pikachu speaking English was unforgivable honestly
Hello random vertified person who I don't know who you are
I am not surprised Americans even made godzilla speak English even though Japanese aka original movie only used speech bubbles
@@user-ge2ex7pt3r hello :)
We still have nightmares about it...
eh I feel like a lot of fans overreacted to it since Pikachu wasn't technically talking. Ash was hallucinating and infers/imagines what Pikachu is saying to show the audience Ash could understand his Pokemon because of bonds he formed with them.
The fact that a top 20 can be made, and there's still more movies, shows how ENORMOUS and drawn out this franchise is.
HIGHEST GROSSING MEDIA FRACHISE OF ALL TIME .

Pokemon 3 should be higher tbh. The animation is so good and we will never get to see such a dark storyline again
The way charizard made it’s entry was 🔥🔥🔥🔥
#7 was disrespectful
I just watched the 3rd pokemon movie, Frankly I think the story could have been wayyyy better. The only thing I enjoyed was when charizard came. Yes I should feel bad for the little girl but she should have known better.
Spell of the Unown was the 2nd best imo
@@Little_Duckling18 "She should've known better" - she was like 4 or 5 years old. You really expect a little child to know better?
I was actually talking to a classmate of mine about The Rise of Darkrai recently. Darkrai’s his favorite mythical. Listen, I love Darkrai and its movie, but its legs in the movie always looked unnatural to me.
It looks like he's wearing a skirt and stockings.....
Not gonna lie, I really wish Darkrai would use its legs in the main games.
"HIS" not "it's"!!!
@@ZeldaSam1 It's gender is neutral according to the PokeTab....
@@ZeldaSam1 Darkrai in the games and anime is genderless, even though it has a male voice.
Pokemon The First Movie was a highlight of my childhood. Saw it one day after school and I can remember the whole Burger King toy line and the Pokeball with 'gold' Mew card. Ah the nostalgia.
Don't you've just missed the 1990s?
I can vividly remember when i've seen the movie. One of the first movies i've seen in VCD. I really love that movie. So nostalgic.
But Mewtwo returns WAS the better movie
There was more than the gold plated mew card! I have them all, my dad likes Pokémon too so he grabbed them all when they released haha
Lugia would be my choice. It has always been my favourite Pokemon, and Pokemon 2000 gave me chills as a child. I would love one more with more Lugia screentime in it.
What about Mewtwo and Entei?
Sadly after watching it again years later, it does not do my memory of it justice. Did not age well
I would say Pokemon Lucario and the Mystery of Mew was probably the best written of the bunch. I still have soft spots for the first 3 though since I had them all and watched them in theatres growing up.
Lucario & the Mystery of Mew is my favourite Pokémon movie, but that's mostly because it has my favourite Pokémon theme song in it, Unbeatable, and it has the Regis in it.
same love this movie. Its also unique in that it doesn't have a villain like most other Pokemon movies
It is the final film dubbed by 4Kids Entertainment. Granted, the 4Kids dub is not perfect it definitely went out with a bang thanks to that movie.
Yeah agreed. Lucario and the Mystery of Mew is my #1 pick
That's my third favorite! after rise of darkrai and the mewtwo. Although l like the arcus and the jewel of life too!
It's too bad that after the XY series, they stopped showing Ash's traveling companions in it
couse nobody liked ash's new desing, it was not suitable for movies anymore
I agree it makes no sense
I like to think the series ended after Diamond and Pearl. The series went completely downhill after Sinnoh.
@@fogrepairshipakashi5834 XYZ was better than DPP
@@piotr5261 Only in animation. In terms of story and everything else, DPP was much better. Seriously they had to pull a Deus Ex Machina to pad the series for the next gen.
Who else loved Latios and Latias because of Pokemon Heroes? Seeing Latias disguised as a girl just makes me immobilized by love. If only Latios and Latias can morph into humans in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Imagine how amazing that would be!
I loved the episode lots
Yeah exactly that’s why their my favorite legendary‘s
I love Pokémon Heroes so much
It's my favorite one
Was my favorite movie when I was a kid, watched it all the time. I've been looking for it on different sites for years
And rotten tomatoes gave Pokémon: The First Movie; “Mewtwo Strikes Back” 16%. Pfft. 🤣🤣🤣 Jokes on them. Mewtwo was the best thing about the movie. Hands down!
The original was still way better.
Mewtwo strikes back? Nah return of the Jedi was cooler 😎
No one should take Rotten Tomatoes seriously, they loved Cuties
You know, if the critics pan a movie, and people who aren't Pokemon fans pan the movie, and the Pokemon fans are the ONLY group who like the movie, odds are maybe the movie isn't very good and Pokemon fans have rose tinted glasses towards said movie.
@@ShadowMan64572 What about at the 1990s, the late 1990s?
I feel like Pokemon 2000 is the best, that movie had more legendaries, higher stakes and a better backdrop compared to the First Movie. Plus it makes the best of its cast of existing characters, with Team Rocket nearly sacrificing their lives to save the world (and Tracey is there).
Brock and Misty appeared in the first two movies with different regions(M01 and M03), May and Max appeared in the first movie of Hoenn, Dawn appeared in the first movie of Sinnoh, Iris and Cilan appeared in the first movie of Unova, Clemont, Bonnie and Serena(in her old look) appeared in the first movie of Kalos, etc.
Not to mention its epic theme song
I cannot take it seriously because that whole movie is nothing but a cringe factory filled with "i Am tHE chOsEn oNe" dialogue all over.
I agree
@@Shebeast3 Don't you've just missed the 1990s?
I've watched these movies as far as I can remember and god I seriously need to rewatch some of them and have a nostalgia trip
Don't you've missed the 1990s?
Yeah I miss them
@@zackerydesotelle2993 What about "Pikachu's Vacation"?
Pokémon 2000 is my favorite
Warner Bros. had Mewtwo and Entei.
I can never decide between Lucario and the Mystery of Mew and Heroes Latias and Latios. Both movies were just magical.
Destiny Deoxys and Spell of the Unown are probably my second-favorites.
Lucario & the Mystery of Mew for my top Pokémon movie, mostly for it having my favourite theme song in it, Unbeatable, and for having the Regis in it.
2000 is IMO the best Pokémon movie. Soundtrack was so amazing and I whistled that flute note for years
Fr it’s goated
I think my favorite movie of all was Movie 2000, but I also love the Celebi movie and also the Deoxys movie, oh and also Jirachi Wish Maker and Heroes. There is just so much more on the old movies.
One of my fondest pokemon moments is seeing The First Movie in theaters. I was so hype, and my mom was snoring asleep in the seat next to me. Will never forget that.
1990's way better than the new.
Lucario and the Mystery of Mew deserves to be in #3 because it's very powerful and tragic and this is in my opinion where the story focuses on Lucario (who's a Pokemon) as the main protagonist
He's also my favorite Pokemon 💙
I still love the modern Pokemon movies. I think they have awesome/emotional moments like Pikachu turning to stone, all the Kalos Pokemon fighting the mega evolved Pokemon, etc.
and ash. greninja

Shaymin is way more annoying imo
Wait...there's more than one Pokémon movie?!?!?!?!
The first two Pokémon movies were amazing when I first watched them in theaters. Whether it be the epic battle between Mewtwo and Mew or witnessing the emergence of Lugia.
I enjoyed them in theaters where I made new friends among the crowd of fans watching them. Game Boys were out with link cables and fellow fans sporting the merch like T-shirts, plushies, or backpacks. Good times!
The first movie should been way better.
I remember the days ''Pokémon the First Movie'' was in the cinemas, how everyone was crazy for Pokemon from children to adults.... It was a golden age for sure...
1998: Oh yes, this is it.
2021: Not all this.
My favourite Pokémon movie is Lucario & the Mystery of Mew, mainly because it has my favourite theme song in it, Unbeatable, and it has the Regis in it with their amazing noises, which is honestly what they should always sound like even in the games.
4Kids did the rights for all eight movies, right?
Feels amazing to see Pokemon Lucario Movie 8 at the third place. Best Pokemon movie I've ever seen!!
Fun Fact:The Lucario from Movie 8 was voiced by Sean Shammel (The english dub voice of Goku from Dragon Ball).
@@jeuryrabassa4724 well here in brasil sir aaron was voiced by wendel bezerra the brasilian portuguese dub voice of goku
Lucario and the Mystery of Mew will always be one of my faves. Everything about it is sooo good. :D
The thing I liked about Lucario and the mystery of mew one of the most memorable Scenes in my opinion is when the Regis attacked. I like that they glitched out before they said their name so Regirock busts out of the ground you see him glitch out a bit and then say his name. Sort of the same for regice and then Registeel was attacking the team rocket and he also glitched out while near the cave. It was just awesome
Regardless of which movie is the best, I am just happy that I can share my love of Pokemon with younger generations to come.
definitely
Personally torn between Pokemon 2000 and The Rise of Darkrai as my favourites.
The music in both of them is phenomenal. I cried more watching both of them than I did with any of the others.
Oracion and Lugia's song are the best pokemon songs and those are the 2 best movies from the franchise imo
Pokemon The First Movie was the first Pokemon movie I saw as a kid. I still think its the best one, but Pokemon the Movie: I Choose You was really good, too.
The first is way better.
My fav is The Rise of Darkrai 🤩

Zoroark: Master of Illusions
The Power of Us
Lucario and the Mystery of Mew

Lucario and the Mystery Of Mew, Rise Of Darkrai and the first movie will always be my favorites
Same here
Same
never gonna forget renting the first pokemon movie on vhs, good times
Never gonna forget wondering why mewtwo was blue on the box
hells yes it was so cool and exciting
My favorite pokémon movie is The Raise of Darkrai. Darkrai became my favorite legendary pokémon because of that movie because despite the hate he always got, that was the place where he got love for the first time ever and even if others didn’t like him he'll protect the place that means a lot to him. And Oracion is one of the songs that makes me cry every time I hear it because it makes me remember that movie.
My favourite of the bunch is I Choose You, hands down. It was such a beautifully animated ride of nostalgia that it really lets you relive your memories.Of course, there’s also Ho-Oh which’s my favourite Pokemon and I really think no other Pokemon can symbolise the franchise better than Ho-Oh through its iconic cameo in the first episode and the way it stood for Ash and Pikachu’s friendship.
My second favourite is Spell of the Unown:Entei because of Entei and Molly’s relationship. And woah,Entei’s my second favourite too and it was the coolest thing here.
My third one is Celebi:Voice of the Forest for obvious reasons of the visuals and Suicune, who still is memorable despite its role being half-baked.
My fourth is Zoroark:Master of Illusions because finally,Raikou got a movie but it still deserved more. And the beasts were shiny.Celebi returned. The story was quite innovative and interesting.
Then it’s Lucario and the Mystery of Mew for its beautiful setting and its interesting premise and for the characters arcs of the featured Pokemon,Lucario and Mew and also Regice,Regirock and Registeel.Obviously I was also excited for Ho-Oh’s small, yet pivotal cameo and it didn’t disappoint.
Honourable mention is Jirachi Wish Maker for its memorable tale of friendship and The Power of Us for its wind-related theme and I kinda liked Diance and the Cocoon of Destruction too.
Love it, I wouldn't change the top two for anything, both fantastic films and somehow I knew they'd go 2 and 1 respectivly lol
May and Max had some adorable moments in the movies they were in
The friendship between Max and Jirachi was cute and the part where Max falls asleep and May sings the lullaby their mother sang was wholesome
I also liked when May helped calm Ash down after his fight with Lucario and when Max offered Lucario a chocolate bar
Also the scenes where May was swimming with Manaphy were nice also
What about M07?
Don’t forget all the advanced shipping in those movies a lot to love there
@@zacharymarlow8161 Seasons 6-8 were okay and season 9 was garbage.
Especially the one where May becomes a parent.
Well how about Ash’s Victini?
Ash gave her macaroons.
Max won in Kalos without Ash realizing that Alain is Max wearing the Wishmaker (Millennium Puzzle), married Serena (Jirachi, the Sky High Dragon) and gave birth to 2 Cosmogs, Clemort (Solgaleo) and Bonnie (Lunala).
Max is 37 years old while Ash is still 10.
My favorite movie is 3rd place… I can live with that.
The Power of Us should easily be #1 IMO. It has an amazing artstyle, and amazing story, amazing characters, and literally everything else about it is fantastic.
Yes I am among those, who say the last 2 movies - Power of us and Secrets of the jungle are actually top tier, idk if top 2....but at least top 5, due to their more mature setting and how good Pokemon can be, when you add some slice of life drama to it, similar to the movie with the orphan girl
Amazing video of the great Pokémon movies out there watch mojo and I saw some of those movies love it.
My favorites are Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, Destiny Deoxys, and The Spell of the Unknown (the first movie is a no brainer as well) 🖤
What about Mewtwo and Jirachi?
Wow. What's amazing is that there are now enough Pokemon movies to create a top 20 list. And here I am just having watched the first one.
The rise of the dark rai was my favourite Pokémon movie of all time
Yh I loved the music tower
The early 00’s still hold up so well.
I do think that the first Pokémon movie should have been #3
Still never got into Pokémon but it’s such a Legend of my childhood
Maybe it’s time you do
Needed this nostalgia, Pokémon has some really amazing movies.. I'll never forget crying on Pokémon the first movie. That one song when the clones were fighting hits you right in the feels

Watching XYZ and Sun & Moon subbed really made me appreciate the Kyurem vs the Swords of Justice's music. Movie 15 gets my vote
They are all heartwarming and wonderful and charming and unique in their own way
Either "Lucario and the Mystery of Mew" or "The Power of Us" for me. I haven't seen the newest one yet, but I think the new movies have been great!
Great job!! Now could you do a top 10 on Water-Type Pokemon?
Yeah there are many pokemon water type
My favorite Pokemon movies are Pokemon Jirachi-Wish Maker (Jirachi’s so cute!-Also I have a Jirachi plush!), Kyreum vs. The Swords of Justice-Keldeo’s is one of my favorite mythical Pokémon (although I do have a lot of other favorites and I love how its a movie about being brave) and The Power Of Us (I love the friendship between Margo and Zeraora!)
Miramax?
"May's singing is a terror for your ears"
Actually, the singing voice of May in the movie is KAORI, May's Japanese VA. They kept the voice track from the original Japanese and put it into the dub.
Her original American voice-actor was way better.
You really had to be there when the 1st movie was released.
Pokemon was at its peak
it was super epic hype!
I knew Lucario would be in the top three He's one of the main Pokemon that put me on thy path...in reality... And in thy multi verse.
Top 2 are the only ones I've ever seen and that was back when I was barely starting high school back in 98. Cant believe so many films have followed since then. Glad generations get to enjoy this franchise.
First generation was way better.
Lucario and the Mystery of Mew was one of my favs, along with I choose You.
But the one thing in Lucario and the Mystery of Mew is the extra character- the girl who breaks world records.
Because I feel like how they showed her with her weaviles seem like she's a villain, which I woulda loved to see. I was even getting my hopes up when she joined Ash help Lucario. But... nevermind, she's just there to actually help. Aaaaah.
My other problem is that Lucario senses... rocks? Uhh... what? Rocks don't have auras. If it sensed pokemon within those rocks and Lucario knew he was running into an object filled with pokemon and avoids it, that would be more realistic with his powers and even a great small detail.
They did add ÜN ÜN ÜN ÜN ÜN ÜN ÜN ÜN ÜN, so it's really great

Pokemon 2000 was great and is still rated highly in my list as, not only the better of Ash's first movies, but also capped off the Orange Island Season, which is still my favourite season of Pokemon to date. Seriously, I just marathoned the first five seasons of Pokemon, and Orange Islands, despite being filler, really holds up.
The easiest way to go over my Top 20 films is to break them down in sections of 5 films each. Starting with 20-16 we have films where largely their only redeeming features are that they are fun to a certain extent. Evolution kind of just plays on nostalgia and the music quality is noticeably poorer than the original film. It even changes some of the most iconic and poignant lines from the original. The Victini films have the novelty of having two different version so it can be fun to play spot the differences, but otherwise the movies are pretty forgettable. They can be summed up by the sentence; a misguided idealist wants to use legendary Pokemon to reunite his people's former homeland and shenanigans ensue when he gets more than he bargained for. The Black and White cast suffers from poor chemistry and the character motivations are not very compelling. Destiny Deoxys has really good action, an interesting setting, and an interesting story but is really sunk by its supporting characters. Tory is quite possibly the single most annoying character in any Pokemon Movie to the point where he is unlikable and unsympathetic: two characteristics that shoot you in the foot when him getting over his fear of Pokemon is a major plot point. I Choose You just feels like an inferior re-imagining of the first Anime. It relies heavily on people knowing the beats of the original Anime so you can compare what has and has not changed about this version of Ash and Pikachu's story. Celebi: Voice of the Forest is really held back by sloppy CG, a one note villain, and lackluster action scenes. It has a passably simple story and is the first film in the Top 20 I would say isn't a straight up bad movie. The one interesting thing it does is give characterization to Professor Oak and show why he and Ash have such a strong relationship.
15-11 are all films I would consider flawed but enjoyable to varying degrees. They all have elements that make them slightly more compelling whether that be characters, story, messages, or animation that help carry them to a more enjoyable level. The Power of Us has a pretty weak overall plot, but it makes up for it with an abundance of characters who throughout the story actually have simple and understandable story arcs. You have the lady who was traumatized by a Pokemon death and now drives Pokemon away, the good guy who can't stop himself from lying, the girl who is trying to catch a Pokemon for her brother, and all of them have moderately interesting character arcs. Nothing is groundbreaking, but the idea of coming together to do something greater than one person alone is a solid theme. Giratina and the Sky Warrior has a so-so plot and an annoying mascot Pokemon in Shaymin, but is propped up by its solid action, Ash's relationship with Giratina, and the battles in the Distortion World. The villain is pretty weak overall but the Sinnoh crew has great chemistry with each other which helps move the film along. Secrets of the Jungle is the best of the alternate timeline films but ultimately just boils down to a fusion of Tarzan and Ferngully The Last Rainforest that really isn't as good as either of them. The film is pretty consistent with its environmental message and the obvious villain does do a pretty solid heel turn. Overall the movie is fine but does nothing you haven't seen done better in other films with similar themes. Heroes is not a bad film and has some great action scenes, but is overall just not an extremely compelling film. The villains are pretty poor overall and the film's supporting characters are kind of just there and do not add anything to the story. Latios and Latias are two of the better feature legendaries and arguably have the best character moments in the film. It does not have a ton of huge problems but also does not do anything extraordinary either. Arceus and the Jewel of Life's biggest assets are in its scale and story. The time travel plot is interesting and Palkia, Dialga, and Giratina vs Arceus was never not going to be a ton of fun to watch. I think its message that we must take care to cultivate the gifts of the earth that we are given is also fairly solid. The problems with this movie lie in its major plot holes, the fact that you must suspend disbelief that the literal god of the Pokemon world could be brought near to death by humans, and the fact that you are left wishing that the battle between Pokemon gods could have gotten more focus.
Entries 10-6 are all what I would call good Pokemon movies. They may fall a bit short of being legitimately good movies without any sort of caveat but for Pokemon movies, they all tell solid stories and have a bare minimum decent supporting characters beyond the main cast. Jirachi Wishmaker has a simple message that it sticks to; real friendships cannot be separated or torn apart by distance, time, or space. Max gets a genuinely well done character arc. I actually like May's song and it becomes a really solid musical motif representing our groups friendship with Jirachi. Jirachi never crossed the border into annoying for me and actually ended up being a pretty emotionally intelligent Pokemon. The Villain is also not just evil for evil's sake as he has an understandable backstory, makes a mistake, and tries to fix it. The major problem that keeps it at 10 is that it simply isn't as fun to watch as some of the others. The action is only so-so and the fake Groudon is not a super compelling major threat. Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction is similar to Jirachi Wishmaker in that it has a strong main Pokemon lead, a fun story which develops the main character, and has a strong theme about growth and personal responsibility. It unfortunately shares a similar problem in that its action is not amazing. It has some great climactic moments and Pikachu being turned to stone thematically mirrors Mewtwo Strikes Back but definitely does not have a ton of wow moments. The Power of One mainly makes it this high because its production value is so high. The animation and action is great, the music is great, the side characters are solid and actually have interesting interactions with our main cast, and the villain is actually pretty fun and not just evil. Its biggest problem is the actual story which is cliche, overly idealistic, and does not communicate its true theme very well: that being, "The Chosen One," simply means you are willing to put yourself out there and be that one person who tries to make a difference. It's an extremely entertaining watch, but it is not what I would call an excellent film on its own. Zoroark: Master of Illusions is in my opinion the only Pokemon film that does an evil villain, completely right. He is cunning, well prepared, has understandable motivations, lacks empathy, and is genuinely intelligent. Kodai actually feels like a serious threat and is ruthless enough to kill those who get in his way. It is also really satisfying to see his ultimate downfall because you know it took work and planning to get there. The knock on Zoroark is that it is not super action heavy and therefore lacks in climactic moments. Temple of the Sea is a fun and thrilling adventure that almost feels like Pokemon doing Indiana Jones. The character arc for May and Manaphy is actually really well done with May becoming a "mother," figure to Manaphy but knowing eventually she will have to let it go. It has great themes about responsibility, doing what you have to do vs what you want to do, and environmental responsibility. This film just misses Top 5 because Phantom, the main villain is pretty goofy and never feels like a real threat.
This probably should have been condensed into a Top 10 list. Using this makes sure that only three or four films miss out on a ranking. If you were eager to do a list like this, you should have included all of them and ranked to from worst to best. But I guess you're really desperate for those clicks, huh?
I've only seen the first 5 movies so any of them are my faves
The best part about the First Movie is how it ties in with the series unlike the other movies which always chronologically falls after a random "movie related episode" like a fever dream.
All Pokémon Movies are Trash by Rotten Tomatoes Standards
The first should be way better.
Yup. Captain marvel > the entire Pokémon franchise
bc most of them actually are awful, especially when you compare them with other anime movies. literally just a 90min commercials for the newest mythical. or whatever they're trying to promote
@@suppengroove Kids' WB and Warner Bros. did the rights for the original 'Mewtwo Strikes Back'.
@@brianodonnell4496 i didn't even talked about the western distribution. they're already bad in japan, where toho is responsible.
I literally said wow ash is a “underwater super Saiyan” that’s hilarious
Gold is the color of godly power but it wasnt even close to Super Saiyan, able to fly isnt even given to by that form so once again it is not Super Saiyan.
I'm 28, and not ashamed to say the first movie still make a grown man well up at the end. I'm not crying you are 😭😭😭
I've seen them all, I own them all. Infact the rarest I own is Mewtwo Returns on DVD still in factory condition. Got that for a birthday gift long ago. What got me was Pokémon Secrets of the Jungle came on Netflix instead of streaming to own first. Now if Netflix gives that movie the boot we'll never see it again. That was a damn fine Pokémon movie
