The dad hates Pokémon because they were the cause of his wife’s death. Which we absolutely could have made more clear 😅 The newspaper article has the story there. And at first he just throws it out. Being skeptical of it being actually alive or not. Then thinking his daughter just brought it back in he takes it out and gives it a good look still wondering if it’s alive or not because it doesn’t seem to be. (Part of Banette’s personality) Then when banette shows up sitting on his daughters bed and the dad thinking the Pokémon is breaking in and coming into his daughters room he wants to lock it up and burn it. This is a harsh reaction but from a man who recently lost his wife to a Pokémon we thought it felt real. He has that temptation to burn it but ultimately doesn’t go through with it. We tried to play on a lot of subtext but thought I’d just share with you some of our thoughts and I hope that helps to see with what is happening in the story. I am a Japanese pokémon trainer living in Japan. My favorite Pokemon is Juppeta(Banette is Juppeta in Japanese). For some reason, it suddenly appeared as a recommendation. Thanks to that, I am happy to have come across a video from three years ago. I am happy to meet a film in which Juppeta plays the main role. However, I was never able to fully understand this film. There are several doubts. Why was Juppeta in this house? Why did Mimikyu attack Amber? Why did Juppeta help Amber? I've come up with my own answers to these questions, but I don't really know the answers.
I can assume that Banette(Juppeta) helped Amber because at first she wanted to keep him. She thought he would cute, it was the dad who threw him out. I guess he wanted to protect Amber because she was nice to him.

Ok, firstly: Not saying anything negative to this, its really good. I just feel this needs to be said: In all seriousness, this man has NO survival instinct. If you care enough to not want spoilers, go no further. 1. If I were to live in a world where dangerous ghostly entities and their typical behaviors were SCIENTIFICALLY documented, OFFICIALLY compiled, and made available to CHILDREN, then ANYONE who's looked into that section of the pokedex will see that doll's face and know the danger! 2. The man's wife was a trainer, and he never thought: "Oh I'm curious, I'll skim through this and see what I find." I guarantee that he'd eventually stumble on a ghost entry and get at least some idea about the danger here. 3. Amber even pulled up her dex, the aforementioned OFFICIAL SCIENTIFIC DATABASE of pokemon, and he completely dismisses it without even a ponderance of "Hmm, this might mean something..." 4. If nothing else I always thought that maybe there were public safety announcements or something that would warn people about this stuff. 5. I'll give him some points for realizing that Banette hadn't actually done anything and that it might be willing to help them.
That makes sense, but being it's a short film, it isn't going to be perfect. If they decided to expand on it and go full feature or a mini series even, they could iron out those details. As you said, it doesn't make sense for the father not to be aware of such danger. Hell, I'm a bit surprised he didn't own a Pokemon. Owning one doesn't mean you're necessarily a trainer. You can have one solely as a pet or something than using it for battles and participating in league challenges.
I'm just going to assume that it isn't exactly like that. My thing is, if you capture a bloodthirsty tiger in your house, you don't just drive into the middle of nowhere and dump it there like it's not going to eat someone.

Plot twist/sequel: the mimikyu is cared for and loved by the family that found it
The happy ending
And then they accidentally look at it and die
Never
Awww
I think it´s safe to say that everyone assumed that Banette was gonna be the villain of this story
probably because of its Pokedex entry
I think that was the point. It was a very good plot twist.
I see the hood in banette always. I didn’t think it would be the villain. Probably because it’s my fave ghost type
Yea I wonder why? Couldn’t have been the name “ Banettes curse “ that gave you that conclusion
It's also said that caring for them can calm them. So when the girl really wanted to keep it, I think it formed an attachment to her.
When they yeeted the ultra ball he should of said "Consider yourself released."

I love how banette uses the needle which I think that’s really cool.
They made banette really adorable for some reason. The sounds it made was so adorable.but the sound of it getting hurt is sad 😢.
Plus it’s interesting how you guys took mimikyu’s direction. Really cool.
Hope you do more of these in the future.
From one group of pokéfan filmmakers to another, this was great. Featuring Banette felt fresh, and was a perfect choice for a more horror-inspired pokémon story- well done!

Maybe having more than one ghost pokemon per house is a lot of trouble?
Anyway, this is still great and I'd love to see more live action pokemon stuff from these guys.
I was going to say the same thing if they couldn't help it out at all maybe they could have sewn it one of the covers 🤦🏼♀️
That's a really good point actually.

The sequel should be a drama-comedy about Mimikyu’s therapy session and soul-searching
Oh... It's searching for souls alright.
How about a sequel those three people befriending mimikyu and keeping it
How about driftloom read the dex about it
Would have been cool if Amber kept Mimikyu and started a Ghost-type team. Would have been an awesome plot for the start of a mini series

Froslass
Chandelure (female)
Aegislash (female as a reference to Fi from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword)
Sableye
My favorite pokemon is Huzumatika... 👍😇
I can assume that Banette(Juppeta) helped Amber because at first she wanted to keep him. She thought he would cute, it was the dad who threw him out. I guess he wanted to protect Amber because she was nice to him.
The girl in the beginning be like: hey, I wonder if there are any battling beasts that can kill many things and have god like powers in here
I think we all would like that though
bruh, throwing away a newly caught Pokemon and with a BASEBALL BAT?! That is ABANDONMENT, SIR! but for real, this film is so well made. the realistic depiction of Banette is so cute too

Ok, firstly: Not saying anything negative to this, its really good. I just feel this needs to be said:
In all seriousness, this man has NO survival instinct.
3. Amber even pulled up her dex, the aforementioned OFFICIAL SCIENTIFIC DATABASE of pokemon, and he completely dismisses it without even a ponderance of "Hmm, this might mean something..."
I am so happy to have been a part of this! :) It's my childhood come to life! The terror and everything.
Who throws away a pokemon like that tho, after u catch it they listen to u. poor mimikyu 😥
I thought that at first, then I remembered that if you don’t have enough badges some won’t. And it doesn’t sound like either of them have any.
I'm just going to assume that it isn't exactly like that.
My thing is, if you capture a bloodthirsty tiger in your house, you don't just drive into the middle of nowhere and dump it there like it's not going to eat someone.
