    One thing I really enjoy about 44 Teeth is the little nuggets of insider knowledge that you dont ger anywhere else like information about the breaks. As well as the more in depth talk about how the bike actually handles abs feels. Thanks Al! Your the man!

    “My” loaner has just had to have the exhaust valve adjusted at 1500 miles, so if you hear any unusual rattling, it could be that. It’ll also drop power as the valve jams shut so keep it in mind.
    I’ll be interested to see how you trick it up! Enjoy - shaun

    Would love tests on the GSXR750 and/or 600. With senior bike testers who race regularly saying that modern thousands are more bike than even they can handle on track, I don't much see the point in buying one. Particularly when I see well-ridden 750s and even 600s going much faster than most 1000cc riders at trackdays. Road practicality aside!

    The MK roundabouts make good race tracks with the duel carriageway throughout the city, have many fond memories of night time racing as a youngster growing up here with a fresh driving licence even though it was over 30+ years ago... (There was less traffic and police then, and all the roads were new !!) but I agree with you the bike in white looks a beauty.

    Suzuki seem to be going slightly backwards / not quite keeping up. Not much difference in cost to the benchmark S1000RR, but quality not as good, brakes still not quite there (why no braided lines as standard?), and personally think front is starting to look like a Hayabusa; a bit fat and certainty not pretty.. Engine does sound great at high rpm, although the low rpm bag o' nails tappety noise would do my nut.

    • @iodineclip
      @iodineclip 6 лет назад +11

      well, i think theres a pretty good reason for that, firstly, almost everyone will change the exhaust on it anyways, and secondly, with a muffler that big, meaning most of the muffling are done there, and just a simple slip-on will give you a dramatic sound without the need to remove the cat. IMO though :D

    It's possible that in the UK you've got some different brake bits. But here in the US, when I look up part numbers of all the brake bits in question (discs, pistons, master cylinder, etc), they're identical from '17 to '18.

  • @samgab
    @samgab 6 лет назад

    What were they thinking? I know they had euro4 compliance to contend with, but some manufacturers manage to do that without making something the size and weight of the leaning tower of Pisa and bolting it on the side.
    Another design decision I simply don't understand, is the step backwards from the elegant solution of integrating the front indicators into the mirrors that they previously had, and going back to ugly sticky-outie dumbo-ear indicators jutting awkwardly out of the side of the fairing... Whereas bikes like the new R6 etc have moved forward TO integrated mirror mounted indicators.

    • @Showmetheevidence-
      @Showmetheevidence- 6 лет назад +1

      Samgab mirrors are about cost. Exhaust is about euro4 and I like it cos they know you’ll throw that can off anyway

    I'm so happy Jason Statham of *44Teeth* was given a SUZUKI GSX-R1000R by *SUZUKI* for the year! After your daunting trek to Spain on that bad, little Gixxer. It was a wise call to give *you* one regardless of your great press work, but the fact that you love bikes as well as Suzuki... *that and the fact that you're not a coward that'll never use the full range of the bike!* Any man that doesn't normally ride bikes daily, but can compete in the TT at that level... to withstand the absolute terror of the Raven reappearing like a mirage within a seconds notice!
    Suzuki's best press bike that they ever handed out!
    On a sidenote: What is the maintenance scheduling for the VVT bearing assembly? I want to buy the Suzuki, but I ain't going near it without knowing what the spec is for something that new to me for the role it constantly plays.

    • @chegson2wheels686
      @chegson2wheels686 6 лет назад +2

      Asian engine manufacturers have been producing VVT motors for many years therefore I doubt there are still going to be issues with this principle.

    • @Aint1S
      @Aint1S 6 лет назад +1

      ChegsO2W ^^Thanks for the insight on what the Asian countries have been building... Lord knows the only ball bearings in engines I've had to replace are pull rope centrifugal clutches for pull ropes. I couldn't fathom how the longevity of timing advancement and retarding of the ignition would hold up going up to 12k RPM consistently. If they've been hanging this out for a while, them I'd suppose it's a non-issue.
      Man, I really appreciate your reply! I've been trying to get ahold of the scheduling from dealers and a few owners online for a while. No one has a single thing on the topic of the VVT. Thanks again.

    • @MrSlurry
      @MrSlurry 6 лет назад +2

      I'm not sure if the vvt system is "crude" as mentioned in the video, it's very simple though. The bearings just slide out due to centrifugal force and in doing so they advance the angle/timing of the camshaft. It's really simple compared to oil pressure activated systems and there doesn't seem to be much to go wrong. Suzuki had vvt engines in their 400cc bikes years and years ago, they're not inexperienced with the tech.

  • @Focused_Veteran
    @Focused_Veteran 6 лет назад +4

    Rode one a few weeks ago, the best thing about it was the front end feel, everything else I thought was quite poor tbh, at least coming for the R1. Standard it's not that quick when compared to things like the RR and R1, the dash looks like it's from an old casio calculator and the fit and finish just isn't in the same league as the bmw and yam, It does sound broken as you described down low. I'd imagine a lot of the issues I found with it are down to the Euro bollocks that the bikes naturally full of, a system and full I think would really wake the bike up. Dunno, don't want to sound to harsh because the bike isn't bad really, just as a package the Yam and BM especially offer a far better road bike.
    They do look great in white though.

    Interesting you say its good on the road.
    I was very dissapointed in it and i was about to chop in my zx10r for it. It shakes its head all the time and the steering damper isnt adjustable. Throttle response is hurrendous. I stalled it twice trying to pull away. Ive never stalled a bike. Brake lever travel is just unforgivable. No braking happens until lever is half way to the bar. The bike is like riding a vibrating bag of nails. Engine performance is great and as a track bike id say it would be good but as for road. No thankyou. Id rather walk

    You hate that junction try doing it in a lorry. I used to deliver to a hospital down on the right at 5:30 every Thursday. A very pretty girl worked there.

      Lamb chop!!! I’m Thinking of getting one in blue... would you rather have a 2019 tuono or this gsxr ?? I have the base 2018 tuono.. but I’ve been doing some highway... is the buffering less.. Suzuki doesn’t allow text rides here :(

    • @LambChopRides
      @LambChopRides 6 лет назад +7

      Oh thats a tough one... The Suzy on the motorway is bliss compared to the Tuono due to the wind protection of course. No buffering absolute bliss. But riding position on Tuono is more comfortable on your upper body but leg positioning is very similar. Ive been very surprised just how comfortable the GSXR is on long rides, I suffer more on my Super duke with a sore bottom as all your weight is all on your arse as your so upright. On a sportbike (or Tuono for that matter) your wrists suffer more but your core weight is spread between arms and arse hence a happy bottom :-)

    Everytime I'm putting my gloves on at the petrol station I think about Baron faffing with gloves. Mostly because I'm massive faffer myself.
    BTW, according to fast bikes & the JHS dyno you get about 14hp with just a Yoshi R11.
