    Seth, on your 2x8 comment for wheeling bikes up the stairs, one way to avoid your daughter playing with it is to have it hinged off the banister rail, that way you can have it in an upright locked position when not needed, and then when you need to use it unlock it and flap it down onto the stairs, you can even make it look like a facing board for the banister.

      I was thinking just putting a gate at the bottom of the stairs. This way they are completely closed off to the kids when he's not up there. I'd also be wanting something around the firepole at the top to prevent any kid from falling through accidently.

    Your videos helped get me into engineering. I watched you and Alex convert his van. I started watching your guys videos and that got me into mountain biking. Eventually my bike broke, so I watched your videos and park tool to fix it myself. This lead to me taking apart my bike and putting it back together and then I decided I wanted to design things and be an engineer. I’m now at Purdue Engineering which is one of the best engineering schools in the country, and I love it here. So indirectly your videos changed the course of my life. Excited to see more flip bike and repair videos!

    I use to be a bit of a hoarder of bike parts myself, but over the last 10 yrs my supply has dwindled down from repairing and building up older bikes for friends and neighbors.
    You should name the bike attic, the "Bike Addict"😊

    Nice storage solutions! Something I find really useful on small draws is to hot glue one item from each draw to the front. Then you can imminently know what’s inside without having to read the label.

    Good work Seth! 4:11 How about making slide/ramp for the bikes on a hinge? Then you flip it to the side when you are done moving bikes and its just a regular stair.

    I 100% agree with giving old stuff new life. I recently got a 20ish year old Marin that I've been using to get around town because my ebike is in need of repairs I currently don't have the money or tools to do myself. It's been an adjustment going back to no pedal assist but I have been amazed at how well it's held up after a basic tune up

    Fantastic idea Seth, that's a HUGE space to utilise, and who wouldn't love a firepole to play on :)
    Maybe worth making the door at top of stairs taller so you don't have to duck every time?

      Maybe it'd look weird from the outside, having this tall door real close to the roof? Idk it would for sure be more comfortable than ducking but I guess that could be an issue.

      There’s always another optimization! So far on about 40 trips in and out I hit my head 2 times, so by the end of the year it should cost me 12 to 14 head impacts, or whatever it would take to make the opening bigger. There is a light and a fair bit of framing above the door and so it might not be possible to improve it much. Luckily I can just climb the firepole with plenty of headroom.

      @@SethsBikeHacks The framing above the door is the header for the door opening and could be moved up higher. You would just need to relocate the electrical, which you already seem comfortable doing.

    From the start I’m thinking why would he put that pole in the middle of the shop. Surely he’s thought this through. I couldn’t see the vision.     Yes Seth! More Flip Bike! I just modernized a Trek Xcalibur from a 2x7 to a 1x10 with an upgraded air fork. Was really fun to tinker with the bike and learn some new skills along the build.

    I’m excited that there is going to be more bike repair/ rebuild videos. This channel convinced me to strip my 2009 29er down to the the frame and rebuild it back better than ever. It’s still a work in progress, but I like being the old guy on the hard tail that is basically a one of a kind ride.

    This is inspiring, as I'm waiting another couple months for cooler weather so I can clean my attic out and organize it better... I'm basically turning half of it into a bike storage area, and the other half to where I can move much of my garage items up to it to clear floor space for bike repairs and projects.

    I used to have an attic like that, but it was just way smaller. I used it to work on bikes and store them as well. It was a pain to get them up and down for sure. Thanks for sharing.

    Thats a great Idea Seth! Sadly I don't have a big enough attic to do all this. But adding some insulitaion could save you a heat stroke on those summer days.

    Your storage solution just gave me the answer to solve my own bike storage problem. I’ve been trying to figure out how to store multiple bikes in a narrow, under stairs cupboard with a sloping plasterboard ceiling and the door at an awkward angle. Pipe across and suspend the bikes by the saddle. Thank you.

    That's really nice. One of my friends gave me a Trek 7400 which in going to make into a bike camping rig and another guy just gave me a diamondback Ascent ex. It will be an extra bike for visitors.

    Nice!!! I'm on board with re*cycling*... I've built myself a nice 2008 Focus cyclocross and got pretty much everything used but in really nice condition. The only really new parts were tires, rims and spokes... consumables like cables, brake pads adn topped it off with new handlebars and saddle. The bike feels solid and new and it's satisfying to know I used stuff that was probably just not the right fit for the previous owner but not worth throwing away!! Save a tree, ride your bike... save lot's of trees, fix your bike!!

    If regular fire poles are hard to find you could have possibly use a regular dancing pole - it would probably add some shine to it but most importantly allow you to incorporate some crazy spins while going down head-down in style!
