    Mixing pop, City pop, jazz, hip hop and some doses of screaming hard rock guitar riffs, AG is just an original. Add to that they are have amazing charisma and showmanship. Suzuka crowd surfing during a song, head banging with Nemophila on NHK or just amazing goofy shit on TikTok. For some reason metal fans like me love these women. I think a lot of that is due to their avant-garde attitudes and fuck society norms outlook. Koi Geba is what Suzuka said was the best place to start an exploration of them.

    I love the videos and songs of Atarashii Gakko. Other titles I can suggest are "Nainainai", "The Night before Exam", "Suki lie" and "Intergalactic" (Yes, the last is the japanese version of the Beastie Boys original 😉). And just for fun to watch them: "Pineapple Kryptonite" (Yohji Igarashi Remix (Live Audio Rework) Crunchyroll Expo). 😬
    Otanablue is my 2nd favorite performance on the F1rst Take. But my absolut personal number one is "Fuhen" from Ano. I say only pyjama and don't forget the subtitles. The lyrics are really amazing.
    And thanks for the nice reaction video! 😊

    Got to see their sold out concert in SF. VIP tickets got to not only meet them and get a photo with them, but they personally drew a calligraphy in Japanese right there in front of you. They were so polite and honestly enjoyed having fun with the crowd. Then during the concert Suzuka stood on the crowd rail and let the audience hold her up while she sang for a bit. They interact with the audience. It’s so much fun.

    This performance is a banger!
    And the text is a bit naughty.
    I listen to this one now and then, with or without reaction.

    Binge watched them 4th of July weekend. They have toured the US, they love Clam Chowder in a Sour Dough Bread Bowl!!
    What really blew me away is a clip of Twice doing some of their dance moves on stage!!
    They are all life time pros, modeling and performing from a very early age.
    They do all their choreography and do choreography for other groups. They also involved in the lyrics of their songs. They are great live performers, some decent fan-cam clips are out there.
    Their dance practice videos are great!!!

    I love these weirdos!
    What's really funny is how many metalheads love this group. It's a very interesting crossover. I think it's not so much the music, which is great, but the groups attitude. Atarashii Gakko are metal AF, especially Suzuka.
    They do all their own choreography, which is super creative and unique to them. I watched a very famous idol group try to recreate the little head shifting dance from this song, and it was, uh, not great. Everything they do is so uniquely "them" that when others try to replicate it, it doesn't look/feel right.
    Check out some more songs from AG. One of their newest is 'Seishun Wo Kirisaku Hado' (Wave That Cuts Through Youth). It's on the heavy side for them, with some Beastie Boys influence. Or try 'Koi Geba', a jazzy, rock fusion classic.

      That head shift is difficult. On a scale 1-10 it is at least 8 to get it right. I guess they have practice it a lot.

    Atarashii Gakko No Leaders (New School Leaders) was formed in 2015 by Asobisytem. Mizyu (the one with two ponytails) was already on their books as she was a back up dancer to Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and they brought in Rin, Kanon and Suzuka to join her. They do all their own choreography and also create dances for other groups. They have some of the most original choreo I've seen from an idol group. In fact they are almost an anti-idol group as their motto is "With personality and freedom I'm going to stick out" and they sing about challenging themes and have appeared at Pride events and do some pretty avant garde art projects. They seem to get a lot of artistic freedom and describe themselves as a singing and dancing quartet and avoid the idol description. In 2020/21 they joined 88rising to break into the US market and have had some success getting millions of YT views and doing some concerts in California. They recently broke out on TikTok in Japan with Otona Blue which is quite an old song and this First Take version has 30M views.
    Otona Blue (Adult Blue, pronounced as Otona buru by Suzuka which means to act like an adult) is about "teenage awakening" ie the awareness of desire in others and their own desire to grow up and experience adult emotions. AG wrote the lyrics themselves when they were younger and I think it's an honest expression of their feelings as they approached adulthood, which makes some people uncomfortable. But AG never shy away from difficult subjects. They actually cut out some of the more explicit "phallic" bits of the dance and introduced a mime of a flower opening with a surprised look to go with their coquettish dancing. Their music is influenced by Showa era pop, Beastie Boys and jazz: Otona Blue is similar to a 1970s hit by Akiko Wada called Furui Nikki.
    Another teenage angst song is "Nai Nai Nai".
    ruclips.net/video/oeM1A65KhIw/видео.html
    and check out their latest song "Suki Lie" which is about romantic betrayal and also the free jazz influenced "SNS24"

    They're starting to break in Japan. More notice from mainstream media (which can be a mixed blessing I reckon). Even in the Land of Quirky, Funny (Alt/Anti)Idol Groups they stand out.

    Marine of Hololive covered Otona Blue just the other day. It's pretty awesome. But a different take as she does the lyrics seriously. A sexy version.

    BTW - your "words from our sponsors" in the middle of the reaction did not sit well with me. It broke the flow.
    I understand that you want to make money from your work. And I know that some do so. Not so many music reactors though.

    • @JustDunk
      @JustDunk  11 месяцев назад +1

      I deeply apologize for any offense that may have caused, truthfully I’m sorry. I was approached by the sponsor mentioned and I was excited to share the news with the channel and am still learning how to actively and appropriately promote myself while not taking anything away from the actual content. I have failed in this video and I aim to change my methods as to not interfere with the flow. I hope you give me another chance but if you don’t I completely and respectfully accept that outcome.

    • @rolandkarlsson7072
      @rolandkarlsson7072 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@JustDunk No offence taken - of course. You do what you want in your channel - and I decide if I am interested or not.
      This was rather an advice. Some do "sponsor part" in the beginning and some in the end. Quite rare to do it in the middle.
      None is really good. But in the middle is the most annoying IMHO.
      Another advice is to do like many other reactors do. Make it visible in the "time bar" where the actual reaction is. It is often slightly thicker there.
      Then anyone that want to can jump to it directly. And you can still have your sponsor thingie for those that do not care.
