A year or so ago, I was in the local tool store to pick up a pistol and spotted the Walther WMP. I asked to look at it, and man did that thing feel good in my hand.👍 I could not put this thing down, I loved it. Needless to say, I left with 2 pistols that day, totally a spur of the moment purchase, for which I have ZERO regrets.😁
I wound up putting a Ceylee Wolf0 sight on it to test and it is amazingly accurate, the dot lives there still. It is very ammo picky, but I have always been a CCI Maxi Mag fan, so my favorite works great.🤷‍♂My only complaint, why does 22 mag cost more than 9mm?🤦‍♂

Thanks for watching and adding your story. I'm guessing the cost of .22WMR ammo is related to demand and economies of scale.

That's a very cool gun. I've been thinking about getting a 22 mag semi auto. Thanks for the video

Thanks for watching. Not too many pistols chambered in .22WMR. Definitely a fun caliber.

I think that you will actually find that this "aluminum" slide is actually "Zamax" which is a zinc alloy, which is even SOFTER than aluminum is. It is a little heavier than aluminum so it helps cycle the action, and it is a lot CHEAPER to manufacture with. Sure, a soft metal would be cheap! This is a partnership of Walther and Umarex, the world famous Zamax BB gun maker. I have an old "original" Smith and Wesson "Bodyguard 380" from 1990 that was the first commercial Zamax slide pistol, and despite always greasing it, anywhere the slide rubs on steel A FURROW is cut. Mine has a deep groove from sliding over the ejector pin, yet it still works. This pistol flopped in the marketplace because folks knew it was not a long-lived build. I wanted one of these until I learned that Walther had sold out........................elsullo

Thanks for watching the video and for your detailed comment, which prompted me to do more research.
Umarex bought Walther in 1993. Both Umarex and Walther Firearms are now owned by the German company PW Group. But as to the WMP slide, from everything I can find, Zamax was used on the Walther P22, but the WMP slide is aluminum. I have searched and can't find any issues of slide failure, even afte high round count.

Looks like the same range Dan "The firearm guy" uses. A fellow Michigander

Cool review! Thanks! I wonder how it stacks up against the new Smith &Wesson 22WMR. The Smith has 30 rounds mags, but I feel like Wahlter's single stack will be more reliable with the somewhat funky 22WMR rounds.

Thanks for watching. I'd love to get my hands on the new S&W .22WMR pistol. It is a little larger than the Walther and a little lighter, though it has twice the capacity of the WMP. And the Smith costs more than $100 more than the Walther (normal retail).

How many rounds did you have through it before mounting the optic? Just picked one up and first mag ran flawlessly then turned into pretty much single shot after that. Thinking I need to break it in without the dot for awhile

I only had 100 rounds through the gun before I mounted the optic. With good ammo and proper lubrication it should run fine with a regular red dot optic without any breakin.
