I’m old and we called things you used to pick up hot things like out of the oven or iron skillet pot holders and the item we sat on the table to protect it from hot items a hot pad. Great pattern.
Thanks. That is the difference I have had a few people tell me.
Me too, Christina! ♥️
So happy I found your tutorial. You explained everything so well. I really enjoyed making this. Thank you so very much
You are very welcome!!
I made this pot holder and it came out really beautiful. Love her tutorial, it made it very easy to accomplished the project
Glad it was helpful!
I use this pattern for any pot holder I make. I have crocheted for years, but this is the first thing I made for myself. I use these for gifts. You are a great teacher! Thank you for this pattern and tutorial!
Great job!

I love this stitch and your tutorial is the best one I've seen for connecting two sides together. I always have trouble with the raw edges but you explained it so well that I know I can do it now. Thank you for being a great instructor. ❤️🧶🧶
You are so welcome! I am glad it was clear as the side of stitches aren't really easy to determine.
@@WindingRoadCrochet I've made blankets and wash cloths but I always stress out when it comes to 1st rnd of borders (and the corners) 😂 but I think ur instructions will get me thru ❤️🧶
@@WindingRoadCrochet I found some cotton yarn and just finished my 2nd potholder with no border troubles 😀. I love the thickness. Thank you for a great tutorial! 🧶
I’m making these right now. Black body white border. I am LOVING this stitch. You are my go to instructor. After a 20 year span of not crocheting, I found you on RUclips and joined your group on FB. You were kind enough to explain to me in DM on Facebook how to join my panel afghan of various panels together. Thank you for being so kind and informative ❤️❤️
I am so happy to be able to help!!
Been looking for different hotpad patterns....You give easy to follow directions...AND a LOVELY VOICE..EASY to listen to!!!!
Thank you that is so sweet. I am glad the video was helpful!
Potholders and hotpads
are two different things in my neck of the woods. Cute tutorial 😍
I am hearing that hot pads are not for pulling things out of the oven and only for setting hot things on. Pot holders are thicker and are used for pulling things out of the oven.
Love this pattern! Definitely going to make some as gifts!! Thank you
Wonderful! it would be great to make just one side and make a potholder and washcloth set for a gift.
I really like this design! So many crocheted potholders don’t look like potholders. Thank you!😍
You’re welcome 😊
I didn’t know there was a back middle stitch! Lol now I do! Thank you for this tutorial.
I believe it only exists on the half double crochet.
Beautiful project thank you so very much. You made it for beginners but didn’t make us sound like idiots. Love ❤️ this so beautiful pot holder
You are so welcome!
I’ll start making one tonight. Needed a good pretty pattern for a “HOT PAD.” Thanks for sharing. 😊🧶
Good to know!!
Just finished one as a last minute gift! Thank you!!
You are welcome.
That’s a potholder in my world. Thick enough that I won’t burn my hand. Nice pattern!
Thanks!!
Lovely, thank you for such a great tutorial
You’re welcome 😊
Wonderful pattern, and a great way to use left over yarn. Definitely going to make these because I like to gift potholders/hot pads to family and friends. Thank you for sharing 😊
You are so welcome. I think they will make wonderful gifts.
Love love this hotpad! Will be making a few of these! Thank you so much for this tutorial!
You are so welcome!
Thank you for sharing, beautiful work.
Thank you very much!
Awesome work I will try to make one thank you for sharing your video . I want to ask if you can make a refrigerator door handle please thank you 💕💕💕💕💕
Are you looking for a cozy for the refrigerator door?
I'm going to use this stich for a market bag
That would be lovely.
Awesome video very easy to follow. 😎
Glad it was helpful!
Love this! Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Beautiful
Thank you
Part 1 of 2 comments - I call it a hot pad if it's just one layer and used only for setting hot pans/dishes of food on top of them on the table. I call it a potholder when it is double sided, like yours, and used to grab very hot things out from the oven or handle hot pans from top of stove...so I call it both depending on how it's made and what it's used for. ❤️
That is a great discernment. I know trivets are thick but used like hot pads.
@@WindingRoadCrochet Thanks, and Yes! I really love how you did yours. I'm going to make some for my landlady..as soon as I can buy some cotton yarn. ❤️🧶
Awesome 👍
Thanks 🤗
Well ever since I was a kid, my mom called it a hot pad, so that is what I call it. I’m just starting to watch the video but I think I’m gonna make some of these.
They are lovely. I sent these to my sister for Christmas.
It's simple.. a Hot Pad is a pad, a Pot Holder is a Holder..A Hot Pad is a pad used to set a Hot Pot on (on the table, counter, etc.)..a Pot Holder is used to take Hot cake pans or cookie sheets out of the oven or, Hot pots off of the stove, etc.
I tend to like the pot holders because they can be used both ways.
i love them
Wonderful!
Beautiful

Thank you!!
Thank you for this. Most potholders are to thin, which makes them worthless
That is true. I love all my crocheted potholders. They are all double thick and I tend to keep them forever.
Hi! I am very new to crochet... and I ordered a few balls of cotton yarn that just arrived. Though it is a weight of 4, the recommended hook size is 4- would that still work for this project or would the pot holder be far too small? Should I just try it with a bigger hook? Any helpful advice is appreciated.
Weight 4 yarn is what the pattern uses. I believe the hook needed is a 5 mm.
@@WindingRoadCrochet The video says 5.5, so that's what I used. I also got the same yarn, and they turned out huge but beautiful! :)
Love this pattern tried it but my turning edges are not straight. How can I fix this issue?
I would count your stitches and see if you are loosing a stitch. I don't remember what stitch I used here but be aware that I do not count my turning chain as a stitch, so I work the first stitch into the top of the last stitch of the last row and I do not work a stitch into the top of the turning chain. If the edges are just wavy and not straight then when you crochet around them it will smooth them out, but if they are slanting to one side and very noticeable then I would count how many stitches you have to see if the stitch count changed some how.
hi , can i use cotton macrame cord and make one layer for the pot holder?
I don't see why not. It should be plenty thick enough.
Very beautiful. Can you tell me what the name of this stitch is, please?
I think it is the suzette stitch but I might do it backwards. I have been using this stitch a lot in patterns.
Nice, but wish you spent a little more time on the corners and where to place your stitces, particularly on connecting and ending fourth corner and beginning again exactly where hook goes. Love the pattern though.
I will try to be cleary next time. Just so you know you can slow down the video using the youtube settings. Maybe watching that bit at 50% speed might help.
Why don't you stich the two pieces together?
You could. I just didn’t like to be able to crochet things together.
👍
thanks
I call it a potholder🙂
OK! That seems to be the consensus on the double thick projects.
I call these pot holders other than that's sometimes I say pot holders but mostly I say other than this
Ok cool!
My message didn't come out right I'm Kathryn Croul it should have read I call these oven mitts sometimes I say pot holders and sometimes I say otherness but mostly I say oven mitts
I call it at hot pad.
Nice!
