I just completed it! This is my first crochet project, I just started to learn about 2 weeks ago. Thank you for the easy to follow tutorial as an early beginner!
Thank you for this pattern & excellent tutorial! I already made two hotpads for my friends, using variegated/solid sides. Gorgeous! I'm loving HL's I Love This Cotton...so soft and beautiful to work with.
I just made this and it came out beautiful! It is nice and thick which is how you would want a potholder. Thank you so much for your crochet videos. They are invaluable. ❤
Thank you so much, this Pot Holder is so cute and I love the Picot stitch, and it’s easier than I thought it would be!! I have a Sister-in-law that loves Christmas so much, she has a Christmas tree that only has Santa’s on it, then she has another Christmas tree that has other Christmas decorations on it!! I’m going to make her a Pot Holder with one side Red and the other one Green so she can use it during the holidays!! I’ll give it to her on Thanksgiving Day! We always eat together on Thanksgiving Day!! Thank you again Amanda! You are a wonderful teacher, Thanks, NORMA COLLINS FROM TEXAS
Took me longer to make than I expected, but incredibly happy with the outcome. Mine came out a bit smaller than I hoped, so if I make this again, I may add an extra row of bobble stitches all around. Thank you for the tutorial, Amanda.
Love this hot pad ! Awesome tutorial! Thanks for sharing n explaining it so well ! Wish I could show it to you ! Will definitely be making more to give as gifts 😊❤

Thats akways a prob cuz instructor has work turned away from screen cant see if the others are going thru 1 or 2 threads of a stitch. I cannot wait to make this
Hi amazing Amanda what a lovely pattern i love your tutorials your so patient i would like to say a great big thank you i followed your tutorial for a babies hat and i am so pleased i managed to do a round for the first time thanks to you so keep doing whst you do you're very much appreciated thank you. Oh wow I love these hot pads ! I’m making a bunch for my sister in law! Thank you Amanda! These hot pads are absolutely beautiful! I actually picked up some of this yarn 🧶 from hobby lobby the other day in fall colors! It’s such a nice and soft 100% cotton yarn 🧶! Thank you my sweet friend! 🙏🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😊😊😘😘😘😘😘
@@AmandaCrochets oh yes I love this yarn it’s wonderful, and I like that it hat good yardish. I started one side of the hot pad and it’s coming out great thanks to you. I would have finished a few of I didn’t have to work 😂🤣🤣
You’re such a great teacher! Thank you 🙏 You explain very well and I like that you zoom in on the work so I can see it better. Since this is 2 sides and you mentioned that one skein of I love this Yarn is enough to make one hot pad. . It’s enough to make both (2) sides of the hot pad. I just need one skein correct?
Those are so adorable Amanda! They look like a lot of fun to make also! Hobby Lobby ILTC is such a joy to work with. Its always been one of my favorites! Thank you for this very cool tutorial!
Thanks so much for sharing this. This was my first crochet project, and I probably wouldn't have pulled it off without this tutorial. I absolutely love making these. Can you share the colors that you use?
This is so pretty! I am on my third try to get it started correctly. Mine keeps curling up. I did a new chain twice because I thought maybe it was too tight. That did help a little but it is still curling. It starts after I do the first three bobble stitches.
My first few rows were curling up a little too. That's just the nature of this stitch. As you make more rows, it should become straight. I usually pull on my work a little to stretch it out a little.
To make this into a placemat, you would make this as long and as wide as you’d like by changing up the chain multiple. You won’t need to double up the hot pad for your placemat.
Hi love it 😊wery nice i want to try this 😊wery well explained...you make it wery easy to make....thanks 😊(and it is best to use cotton acrylic would melt )....
Since the bobble is such a yarn eater, do you think the opposite side could be a solid stitch? A single or double crochet? Or do both sides need to be bobble for thickness? I absolutely love your tutorials! Thank you!
I just found you! ❤️ I have watched your video, and have your printed instructions. I am new and used to counting my stitches after each row, but I can't find what the stitch number should be.
Why not 21 stitches per row? Chain 22, skip first and sc the remainder of the row should leave 21 SC. Also each bobble is 2 sc, then one at the beginning, that’s also 21?

Cotton is a better choice for this type of project as acrylic would melt. There are some soft cotton yarns out there like the one I used in this tutorial or Red Heart Scrubby Smoothie yarn.

when pot holder/hot pads are crocheted with two pieces, (a top and a bottom) I put one hundred percent cotton batting (like the kind used for quilting) between; there is also a teflon coated fabric like the ironing board covers are made of that can be layered with the batting to make the hot pads thicker and heat resistant; hope this helps /:)
Please, please, PLEASE DONT use acrylic for a hot pad or anything that will be around heat, it will melt the yarn. Stay safe crocheters!
Agreed! Always use cotton yarn.
What about woll? That shouldn't melt either, right?
@ I haven’t used wool for this, so I can’t say for sure. I would stick with cotton but you’re welcome to try wool.

I just love this hot pad. How would I make this hot pad into a placemat?
To make this into a placemat, you would make this as long and as wide as you’d like by changing up the chain multiple. You won’t need to double up the hot pad for your placemat.

Since the bobble is such a yarn eater, do you think the opposite side could be a solid stitch? A single or double crochet? Or do both sides need to be bobble for thickness? I absolutely love your tutorials! Thank you!
You can have one panel be all solid single or double crochets. I think it would still look very pretty!
Very nice 😊
Thanks!
Gorgeous hot pad and great video. Do you think these need to be 2ply to be protective or was that decision just for aesthetics? ty
Thank you! I decided to make them double thick so they absorb heat a little better when you place hot pots/pans on them.

Will the 22 chain give you the estimated 8 inch potholder?
It depends on your tension and the yarn you’re using.
Can I use two string’s instead of two pads ?
Yes you can!
Ty
You’re welcome!
Wow
Thank you!
So can I do 26 chains to start to make it a little longer
If you'd like, yes!
Are you able to take pans out of the oven with these?
You should be able to 😊
I just found you! ❤️ I have watched your video, and have your printed instructions. I am new and used to counting my stitches after each row, but I can't find what the stitch number should be.
I’m so glad you found my channel! I hope you learn a lot 😊 for this pattern, you should have a total of 21 stitches for each row.
@@AmandaCrochets Thank you so much - it means a lot to me that you replied!
@@lynnskey you’re welcome! I try and respond to everyone 😊
Have you already tried it by chaining 34 for your first row and does it still fit with 180 feet of the yarn?
I haven’t made a bigger size myself, so I can’t really say. However, you’re more than welcome to make this bigger if you choose 😊
Why is my last stitch a bobble and not a single? What am I doing wrong? Also is there 20 stitches every time?
Yes, you will always have 20 stitches per row. It’s possible you skipped a stitch or maybe did 2 of the same stitches in a row? Keep trying!
Why not 21 stitches per row? Chain 22, skip first and sc the remainder of the row should leave 21 SC. Also each bobble is 2 sc, then one at the beginning, that’s also 21?
Presioso gracias

Would it be possible to just have the 1 piece for a hot pad with the border , instead of making 2 and sewing together ????💐🧶😉
