- How & why to clean your MAF SENSOR. Mass airflow mass air flow.
Toyota Nissan Honda Subaru BMW Mercedes Audi Volvo Hyundai Kia Suzuki Yamaha and many more engines all have MAF sensors.
This is how to clean a MAF sensor using CRC MAF sensor cleaner how to clean a MAF sensor using compressed air how to remove a MAF sensor how to install a MAF sensor how to repair the screw holes mounting a MAF sensor - Авто/Мото
Just performed this procedure on my 2012 150 Prado with 240k on the clock. New injectors and EGR clean at 230k. Regularly serviced all its life as per Toyota recommendations.
Immediate results: increased throttle response(zippier), quieter idle, eliminated the cold start rattle. Hopefully fuel consumption will improve for better mileage.
Thanks Anthony. Such a quick easy job with huge gains. It literally feels like I’m driving a new or different car now. Cheers man.
Nice video Ant, thought I knew what I was doing but I realized that I am only doing half the job! I wasn't/haven't sprayed up into the sensor, just the bulb bit.
Another use of the spare tire reservoir of compressed air.
Good lighting, good sound and great information as always...oh and not too long. Thanks Ant.
Thank you very much for your video. I just cleaned 2011 Hilux MAF sensor.
Worked like a charm. I have my truck’s power back! And no flashing check engine light in overdrive. $10.99 at O’Reilly
thanks for the heads up Anthony
Great video. Thanks mate. 👍
Nice informative video, thanks very much
Finaly super video. Thank you
Very informative 👍
Great information
My hilux was throwing a check engine light on the highway
I cleaned the maf sensor problem solved
🤙👍🍻
cheers Anthony
It could be the same as isopropyl alcohol in an aerosol, and that’s likely what board cleaner is, since electronics industry use it in liquid form. The CRC MAF spray in the air caused a bit of a reaction to the skin on my face, which typically does not happen with IPA, so I suspect there’s a difference.
Cheers great video
Nice video
I did this earlier this year for my Hilux 08 diesel and have noticed a slightly better fuel economy. Buy a can when Supercheap have them on sale.
Thumbs up mate!Do hilux kun26r 4x4 diff oil change please
Awesome video - Thanks 😊 i didn’t know about the two wires inside 😱 will a dirty MAF be the cause of sluggish performance? How often does one need to perform this clean? All the way from South Africa 🇿🇦
HI ant. great Vids. I use the wd-40 Contact cleaner. its the same as the CRC little cheaper. i own Pajero NS 2007 Diesel poor mans Prado. some of things you talk about. i can apply to car aka mainly clean parts and basic's. Wish there was page like your's for Pajero owners.
I did this on my 150 v6, it started to idle up at the 1200 to 1500 mark, i pulled the maf back out and put some silicon greese on the o ring, seems to be idling fine now. Air leak causing the idle problem?
Great video. Very informative and educational. What is the name of the lube that you use prior to reinserting the maf sensor?
Cool! What about Liqui Moly Luftmassensensor-Reiniger ?
Contact cleaner is what us sparkies use on little electronic components so green light to use. The iat is a PTC thermistor and the maf I believe is a variable resistor.
Same procedure for the v6 ? Please
It's a soft metal so it's standard for the screws to strip.
Another great video, thanks! Is this a part that should be changed every so amount of KMs?
can you let it dry naturally? I don't have compressed air
Great work on your information Anthony. Thank you...
I currently have an issue with fitting a K&N E-2296 to a late 2013 Hilux SR5 1kd-ftv airbox with safari snorkel. The material that bonds the element all together (polyurethane) is so rigid that it does not compress like the genuine filter or a Ryco does so it won't allow the lid to close. K&N has been extremely helpful in trying to replicate the problem by ordering an airbox to assess. Just waiting on their findings.
Just wondering if anyone else has experianced fitment issues as well?
How about some plastic weld or similiar down that thread hole to re-establish a secure fitment. Would that work? Anyone elee tried? HotSnot maybe?
Best advice is to not use a K&N.....
Heya,
Beening runing a kn filter on my 2014 hilux for 6 years, it's a tight fit but it does fit. Cheers
Thank you for that info…will check mine out today
My 03 Prado has a fair bit of hesitation when I accelerate. Do you think that could be caused by a dirty Maf sensor?
Perhaps but I doubt it it’s an easy solution to check and clean
Ive just sprayed the Maf sensor with Liqui Moly spray and it has cured the hesitation and its far more responsive at motorway speeds.
There you go, a bit of free information for you too 👍
You can use isopropyl alcohol. Drip a few drops on the 2 wires hidden right inside. The stubborn carbon deposits just won't come loose. Use a pin to glide over the wires to dislodge the carbon. The wires are tough enough and its not like spider web fragile. When you are done, you will see 2 shiny wires with something cylindrical in the wire's center. I put back everything and it works like new and awesome acceleration. Idle is at 750 rpm and absence of rpm surging or engine dying off. CRC spray for MAF is just overpriced. Just don't use cotton buds or something that will leave traces on the wires which gets heated up and it will burn if something is stuck there.
Nice one
I just did mine
Made a funny “clunk” noise on start up
But ran well after that
Not sure what that was
Can i use EGR cleaner instead of maf cleaner?
What about the map sensor and egr sensor do they need cleaning and could you use this crc maf cleaner?
What about you watch my other videos 😁
Fourby4Diesel Was looking for some oldies, ill have to keep digging for them😂
Okay to use a can of compressed air after cleaning instead? Or best to let air dry?
should be able to let it just evaporate after use just look on the instructions of the spray you are using
Hi Anthony.. my Hilux 07 have some issue.. engine turn off when RPM low.. no fault code indicate.. try to replace fuel filter but same issue.. possible this MAF sensor get dirt cause the problem? Anywhere thanks for your video.. will cleaning this sensor tomorrow.. finger cross..
didnt know about the “special product”…I have been using for years contact cleaner with no problems in my K1 and Rav4
The ingredients for both products are the same but I'm still hesitant to use the red can. It's the CRC can for me!
How do I use my compressor without my motor running? Or can you run the car without the MAF sensor in?
personally if you use the contact & circuit board cleaner i would buy the stuff thats just for electrical contact cleaner that leaves no residue always buy the stuff that says leaves no residue so will not leave any oil or such after cleaning
What if I used maf cleaner on the electrical part of the sensor
if you are talking about the connectors just use electrical contact cleaner that leaves no residue so will not leave any oil or such like after use on the contacts
In my country of Unclebumblefookistan, we you you Ell Pradonator (King of the Prado)
ouke douks 😂😂😂😂
The circuit board cleaner is definitely 99% ethyl Alcohol
oil does nothing but attract dirt
Yes, exactly why the filters work so well
@@Fourby4Diesel - so why would you want the maf sensor covered in dirt & grime
The oil is on the filter, not the sensor
Just buy a brand new one....if it fails the transmission will start acting up if you have an automatic
Unecessary talking & doing bore
not really he was trying to be helpfull but will get better with more practice thanx for the feedback thats how people get better
