I missed hearing this sound whenever we take a flight to other countries to spend our vacations. Even more so once the pandemic had hit, as it meant very few to no air traffic in the sky. I pretty much hope this pandemic can be over with soon so we can travel to the skies once more.
??? If you're a passenger, you never here it like this. Hell, the most noise you hear is the "bad DJ vinyl scratching sound" when you pull outta the gate.
When I was younger I used to think that the swirls on those engines were just cute design choices. Now, being an adult working at UPS, I understand that they’re actually meant to let engineers know how fast those things are moving.
The swirls are mainly used as a bird deterrent which is weird i know but they're meant to scare them due to the bright spinning object, as if the noise alone wouldn't scare them away 😂 we can also use them to tell when the engine is under power but then again its fairly obvious even with ear defenders on but their main purpose is for the birds :)
@@finlaymorrison281 I doubt that spiral does anything to scare away birds. Birds dont fly into engines, engines fly into birds. The spiral is just a visual indicator for ground crew know if the engine is running or it has been shut down.
whats really crazy is the size of the engine vs. the plane. A car engine takes up a 3rd of the car generally; but a jet engine is more like 1 10th of the size, which means means its so much more powerful!

They’re bigger than the ground equipment vehicles, A plane is by far the most powerful machinery that generates unbelievable pounds of thrust whereas a car’s engine is all about horsepower but horsepower will never beat an airplane’s power at all or ever.

Not an issue, the ground controller calls the pilot at the end of the push back to set there parking break and they also reduce throttle to idle, then they remove the steering pin and other stuff and say pushback complete blah blah blah. I'd say it'd be difficult to find a controller who had there foot run over in this instance
I’m 6 k away and hear this constantly 24/7 from Perth WA airport.. it’s driving me crazy. I feel nauseous and giddy all the time from this. And nothing can be done .. I’m waiting for transfer from government housing.. be long wait unfortunately.. I want to move NOW! Pressure in my ear is constantly
