That shot at 1:58, that is exactly where you never, ever, _EVER_ want to be while next to a spinning propeller. You are right in line with its plane of rotation. If anything on that prop fails it's going to go right thru you.
Airplane Safety 101.
yawn
Ok Kamala. talking to us like we are children. The big yellow bus has big wheels and it is yellow. duh. are you related to kamala.
2:00 ah yes, time to stand next to these metal blades spinning very fast
I bet someone watching this is thinking “I wonder what happens if I just touch it”
I work in a factory that makes compressor blades and vanes for the jet engine at the end. My job is called gauging and what I do is make sure the blade or vane is set at the right dimension that the customer asks for. Rolls Royce and General Electric are the main two customers we have.
I'm from Barnoldswick with they make the wide chord blades for the Trent too.
So you're just QC?
Dear crazy engineer too much enjpy!!🎉🎉thank U again.
Dani Daniela
I remember seeing a guy walk in front of a jet prepping for take off. He got sucked in the intake like a rag doll. I don't take engines lightly as a hobbyist so best believe I wouldn't take standing in front of a air slicer granted. Like I always say, you can become an engineer but it doesn't mean that you're actually smart. Stop standing in front of these things because engines can run away and go full throttle at times even if you think you have the full control or "expertise" around them.
I remember the same video , treat them with respect or they will eat you up
The dude survived!
I mean, if you are running the engine on idle, you CAN walk around 3-5m forwards of it. However, the EASA AR’s requires a minimum of a 5m half circle before / to the side of the fan (CFM-56-7 series)
The plane or you can say jet engine sucks in air so thats why when its running you should not stand in front of it
@@SiniTuulia The dude survived by luck that his helmet jammed the fan blades.
Now thats the perfect engine for my lawnmower
Fette_ Bohne AE American calls me in the whatszap +5511947697403
The engineer in me loves this!!!
Goose bumps especially the third one looks like a b29 engine correct me if I’m wrong👏👏
All those exposed prop blades are a bit of a worry.
Isn't it strange that people trust on these machines for their life but not on people.
We are not trusting our lives on the machines, but rather on the engineers
FYI....... THE LE RHONE AND SUCH BEAUTIFUL MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS ARE 'NOT' ROTARY ENGINES.....THEY DO INVOLVE ROTATION, AS MOST ENGINES DO. THESE ARE "RADIAL" ENGINES, SO CALLED BECAUSE THEY HAVE CYLINDERS POSITIONED "RADIALLY" AROUND THEIR CRANKSHAFT.
The quiet music at the end came as a total shock
THAT GUY NEEDS TO GET AWAY FROM THAT SPINNING PROP OMG
5:53 A grounds worker was pulled into a jet engine recently- no way I'd be standing to film in front of that thing.
imho you should had added to description names of aircrafts on which they were used.
excellent quand vos voisin fon du bruit lol 🤪👍
WOW ! did. you see the guy how bowlegged he walk after turnning the prop on that engine proabably because he has big balls!!!
There a few Darwin award candidates, @2:00 so close to the prop and at the end of the video in front of the turbo fan spooling up.
The old inline 6 cyl 7.2L @ 4:45 only putting out 175hp@2450rpm sounds pretty weak for that size. That translates into 441Ci and older 60's-70's engines would put out a little less than their Ci,,,ie a Ford 302Ci would put out around 280hp. Since the 2000's with fuel injection and higher compression computer controlled (SMEC) engines we have been getting greater Hp per Ci out of stock engines. With a little specialty modifications a small block 350 could easily put out over 500hp (4 bolt mains, popup pistons, solid lifters, roller rockers and stronger valve springs.)
Aviation is my favorite part of being a man. From a $30 drone to the Saturn V, human flight is what I love most. Nothing more satisfying than a good woman after a successful flight. Except maybe good Rib Eye and a glass of a good Scotch. And a good nights sleep. So, a good flight, a good meal, some good whiskey, a good woman and good sleep. That's my favorite part of being a man. And then, doing it again, the next day.
Nice!
Nice Engineering
Hermosos...Los imagino en combate!!
Very nice
Aldo the mondo.
Thanks you
Yeah but when are they all goin' "GREEN" ? LOL
A Boeing 767-300 is not an engine.
Nonov Yerbusiness and you are not a human
And Kumar Sukrit is not a RUclips account
Nonov Yerbusiness indeed it is a turbine
Mechanic here.
The engine is a General Electric CF6-80.
How does it fly thought the air?
Thumbnail is not part of the video.
Woww
Good
I like engine
imagine if in the future we could be able to build those loud engines but without contaminating
Well, Airbus is testing using oil from chips as jet fuel.
CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME EXACTLY HOW TH EONE RADIAL ENGINE WORKS AS THE CYLINDERS ROTATE AND NOT JUST THE MAIN-SHAFT. VERY INTERESTING!!! I NEEDTO KNOW HOW IT IS CONFIGURED INTERNALLY. THIS IS NEW TO ME AND HAS MY INTEREST.
the cylinders are locked with the propeller, the plane is locked to what in a normal radial would be the shaft. the point is that by making it this way, the valves for cylinders are easier to operate, the cylinder does not have an intake valve, just every rotation it pass in front of an opening to get air in. only the exhaust valve is required. simpler than a modern engine, this allowed more rpm, less cost, more power. it was a tech dead end but an interesting one.
When you need money call JG Wentworth

qué grandes pprqerias para hechar tanto humooo
That engine starting up at about 5:58. I'm gonna guess at something, since I really know nothing about these things. I would imagine you'd want some visual indication that the engine is running; as a warning, at least. I'll bet you that most patterns of, say, black and white, would turn into (in this case) a grey blur at high speed. Am I right to say someone worked hard at coming up with a pattern that wouldn't do that?
junkdeal That's what the panels in the cockpit indicate.
I meant more for ground personnel or anybody else, to get an indication of the engine running. I'd imagine you're referring to cockpit crew visuals with the panel indications. I'm still guessing at some of this; I'm just thinking some indication should be offered on the ground, unless I'm wrong about the pattern on the engine and what it's for.
Yeah, I don't know, I'm still only a private pilot student, so I don't know that much about turbine engines, but if there's one thing we pilots always look for is the panels indicating the temps and pressure.
That makes sense! But I think a non-pilot isn't concerned with temps and so on- his only concern in the above case is that big meat-grinder just waiting to suck him in!!!!!
The first thing you learn as a pilot or mechanic when performing an outdoor inspection is to not walk in front of a starting / running engine. Every single concern you have are dealed with with security procedures, don't worry.
3:58 Me after Taco Bell
1:40 thats how accidents happen
That Garrett engine is certainly not a big jet engine
That one kid mic

Clickbait where’s these big engines at ??
5:52 Ps5 start up sound confirmed...
3:58 Why are the cylinders rotating ?
Ahmed Saad it's one of those who engines where there wasn't even throttle control and all you can do is turn on/off your engine to control speed. I think it was called rotaries? I forgot.
Ahmed Saad it's probably one of the innovative engines used in a Sopwith (WW1 fighter). It spins instead of being fixed so that it helps cooling the engine.
The crankshaft, connecting rods and pistons are anchored to the body of the airplane and do not spin. Instead the crankcase and cylinders spin. As BliTZarD said it's to cool the engine better.
A Saad It dumb ass, is a ROTARY, engine !!!! DUUUUUUUHHHH!!!!!!
Tây tàu chúng nó chế đủ thứ trên đời,,ta thì tiến sĩ tính nghìn,giáo sư cũng vậy,mà chỉ sản xuất được mỗi luật với quy định,,
I have a tendency to stick my finger in it lel
Did that guy seriously walk beside a spinning prop!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????
Nick Lohr Yeppers, He/She must have the biggest set of cods/cahunas/nuts/seeds/balls/boys/nads/ or duffle bags, the world has ever known. I was sitting here watching it and thinking, man this fucker is about to shave their face smooth the hell off. Fuuuuuuck that! Dumbassism to the extreme.
e
Yes, yes he did. And really fucking close as well. But oh well, idiots are gonna idiot...
Did you guys forget that camera zoom is a thing? It'd explain why the footage was also quite shaky.
Still though....not safe to be beside spinning props.
You'd think Darwin would have weeded out all the situationally unaware specimens by now but evidently they keep mutating back into the gene pool.
Garrett TPE331 turboprop engine used in Merlins was one of very best I ever operated without one single engine failure in thousands of flight hours. Incredible Bullet-proof power-plant with instant response.
The 331 was a horrible engine when it first came our. In Asia we had many engine failures mainly due to fuel control issues.
6:30 not a clever place to be. 💀
i wonder why there are those white marks in the center XD
Not the smartest, but he's pretty safe. The engine is at idle. The safety radius for a CF6 engine is 7 feet (just over 2 metres)
@@thejafuu5001 its the spiral to avoid birdstrike, if a bird sees it, it will go away
@@shadowph4ntomfortniteplay358 I heard it's also for ground safety
@@thejafuu5001 Mainly its for scaring off birds, but yes it is a good indication too for showing that the engine is spinning.
@6:00 this man standing in front of a spinning turbine!!! not being afraid he'll get sucked in and killed! that....is balls of steel
he's actually pretty far away, making zoom at the engine. you only need like less than 10 meters away to stay safe. Not a big deal. 2:00 , THAT is balls of steel
Austin Esmie the plane engine is idling, they don't suck up al much air in idle, so he's fine, but if the plane were to take off with him in front he would get sucked in
An engine at idle doesn't suck as much as you think.
Blumac5 that's correct
They didn't even start it. That's just a dry motor. No fuel. No suction.
FROM 1:42 TO 2:10 IS THE STUPIDEST MOST DANGEROUS CAMERA WORK EVER IN THE KNOWN UNIVERSE ! ! !
Helve Hammer fucking stupid he could have been sliced up
The camera may be held on the end of a stick
or used zoom
he tried to lick the blades ... suicide ... oh no he was going to make a manual start
Helve Hammer agreed
Clickbait... I wanted to see the GE-90 in the thumbnail. -_-
ASJE Aviation HQ me too 🤔
Cfm56!!!
No doubt, I actually work for GE Aviation and we manufacture the rotating parts inside this awesome engine. They are in a class by themselves.
Me too!
Same
Ok, the jet engines are cool and all but that PW engine at 1:10 is just wow...
1:55 I was leaning back. Like REALLY back.
Nirmit Official - Me too. That went against everything my dad ever drilled into my mindset about engines and power tools. And he was an amateur pilot, and even learned to start an engine by turning, or throwing?, the propeller by hand...
I used to fly small prop planes and walking next to a propeller like that was probably the first thing you were told to NEVER do.
Safety is more important while working with powerful engines
4:00 the original rotary engine, no angry Doritos required.
767-300 is an aircraft type, which, depending on individual airline specifications, is equipped with one of three different manufacturer engines; GE, Pratt & Whitney or Rolls Royce.
In this case it is GE CF6-80 series engines.
Jim Penfold man can be aspired by reactor
For anyone who’s curious the 767s engine is a General Electric CF6-80C2
They also power by P&W engines!?.
And Rolls Royce RB211’s
5' parallel from active blades is exactly where you should stand. Not.
6:27 - Sensible place to film...
Fun fact: the "spiral" on the front of the engine nose cone is designed to hypnotize birds so they wont feel pain when they get sucked into the engine...😅
That last one looked like JFK Airport though it's amazing at how quite these engines got over the years as kid growing up in the 1980's to now they are almost whisper quite with maybe a couple of older jets flying over my house and being alive to hear the mighty Concorde my god you could hear it before you saw it what a time to be alive someday I hope the world will be ready for an SST again
It's a shame the way modern digital cameras distort the props. I like the "old" look better.
Another misleading video on RUclips
2:12 😊 That Merlin V12. Like music to my ears.
Backyardmech That merlin was an early version, most likely a 20 series, ie 3 blades prop making it the single stage 2 speed supercharged version, NOT the later 60 series 2 stage 2 speed version all Brits slobber and drool over and get their "wee willies wiggling"...........60 series merlin has a 4 bladed prop !!!
I build engines all day every day. I take for granted how much of a great job I have cause I don’t get to start them.
I want a turbine engine turned into a generator to use while camping
Yeah, some of us really do want to watch the world burn
Bad to the mother fuckin bone man!...I'd hate to accidentaly stick my head in front of one of those!! :(
Man he got balls of iron to stand next to that spinning propeller
Click bait pic, not cool.
The people who engineere these machines are geniuses.
As are those who later build planes which use them.
6:17 are you crazy do you want to get sucked into that engine
"Boeing 767-300" is a aircraft type designation and not the engine. A 767 can have engines made by different manufacturers, usually selected by the buyer.
The engine on this 767 in the video is the p&w 4000
Tim E Boeing 767-300 could have 3 different engines... PW.......CFM.......RR....
or the new energy saving model
4:57 gta San Andreas stunt plane is that you?
Clickbait... I wanted to see the GE-90 in the thumbnail. -_-
@@drewscheller4956 that’s a cfm56.
Clickbait! Turbofan in the thumbnail is nowhere to be found in this video.
came here for that
Whoever the camera man is taking shots at 2:00 is being stupid, you never stand in the plane of rotation!
1:47 my anxiety killed me from the inside
That Merlin sounded like sh*t... Very disappointing! - 2:37
It sounded like that because it had no manafoilds on it instead of open headers it was open heads that's not good on any engine
Fantastic!Love this;thanks so much for posting.
hes beyond the..
(twister line) suck zone.
Kipas angine ukuran jumbo iki mengko katut mumbol jho kowe
The Merlin took a while to fire up didn’t it. And am I the only one half expecting the little trolleys the engines are on to move forwards with the bloke standing on it…?
nice video,....seems like vintage era planes of black and white times of 16th and 18 th century again shot at....
1:55 you never get near a spinning prop like that
Airplane engines are very loud, fast, powerful and huge!
WHAAAT???
2:11 that wasn’t too bright of an idea!
Took a really long time for that Merlin to start up. In a battle situation with you needing to get that plane up you should just kiss your rear good bye
Can you remap these? asking for a friend.
yes. they can be remapped.
Thanks for the great Video awesome cool nice time by thomy a great channel mega a great Fan
Damn! I could smell those exhaust fumes from here, behind my laptop!
Crazy! These exhaust fumes were almost as hot as my laptop overheating!
i wonder how that inverted engine has it's oil sump setup. wouldn't it sit on the underside of the pistons and creat massive leak problems??? and smash the hell out of the oil whilst running?
My first aircraf power plant was powered by Rubber band ....how do we measure its power ? LOL
😂😂😂😂😅😅😅
I was and aviation structural mechanic and worked around jet engines for 20 years

Channel name: Car News TV. Video title: Big aircraft engines starting up. Duuuurrrp. 🥴🥴🥴🤣🤣🤣
The Rolls Royce starting was a beautiful thing, like music, that header setup was pretty sweet too
They were all pretty small engines don't you think? The thumbnail engine isn't even featured. That always gets my goat.
2:50 did you see the fire on the engine
Big aircraft engines? They only develop power between 175 and 2000hp, and are considered big aircraft engines?
