I always put some aluminum foil over the exhaust pipe so the oil from the oil filter does not get on the pipe. And I would have used a 3 inch extension on the socket when removing the drain plug so I would not come in contact with the hot exhaust pipe. Also would put a little film of oil on the O ring of the filter cap before replacing it. Better to be lubed, dry against dry more chance of wearing out the O ring sooner.
Thank you! I will replace the oil of my 2022 Monkey by myself because of your clear video.
Thanks, I too have a 2022 banana yellow monkey. Glad they added a oil filter and a 5th gear.
I love mine, thank you for stopping by!!
Thanks for the video! Good to know how that works. Cute oil filter, ha ha! I bought a blue one last monday and today afternoon i will get it from my dealer. Best wishes from Germany!
Great video love the details. One little trick I Learned was wrapping aluminum foil around the exhaust pipe so it doesn't get oily when draining.
Thank you.
Thanks to you, I learned how to change the Monkey 125 engine oil.
I will try too.
Thanks. Have a blessed day.
Thank you ever so much for you excelent video and instructions. It helped me change my own oil on my 2022 Monkey. With 8500 miles on the clock she runs amazing. your video is the best 😊 Best wishes and happy Monkeying 😇🙏

Thank you sir! I'm right at 600 and got my oil and filter, you saved me from reading the manual Lol...ride safe ;) keep2dwn ;)
I am not even tempted to read the manual with this great video ! THANKS.
Good to know!
From another Banana Monkey Nut,.... Great video, I'm about to do my 1000kms oil change and your tutorial is excellent !.. Thank you... from down under in Australia
I justcput over 600 miles on my monkey in two days.i need a service bad.
Hope this video provides
Way to go! Perfect!
Thanks Sir.
I hope you're having as much fun on your monkey as I'm having on mine I absolutely love my bike. If you haven't seen my video where I took my monkey to the Grand Canyon I highly recommend you look for that
Just got a 2024 last week, I’m sure I’ll have 500 miles on it in no time. 👍
I am on the cusp of buying one of the honda 124.9 cc minibikes, thanks for info.
Hello from UK . Just joined your channel. Excellent, thank you very much. Regards Gareth Wiltshire UK. Gratitude. Quality. Respect.
Thank you so much for the very kind words in support you get my channel. Welcome aboard!
Merci beaucoup pour le partage 👍
Cool video thanks for the info, I will revisit this at mile 600. Thumbs up!!
Thank you! Blessings from Arizona!!
Excellent 😊
Very nice.
Clean bike.
Thanks
Satisfying 😂
Great job. Nice to be able to DIY instead of paying crazy extra for someone to do if for you. Just curious if they would ever have a loophole to deny you warranty for DIY services. Love and blessings my friend! Ontario Canada loves you!
Good morning! That's a great question. I wonder that myself. I don't think it'll hurt anything. Thank you, much love and blessings from Arizona!
@@jiujitsu2000 Just make sure you keep all your service receipts for proof of proper oil changes and your video footage would certainly help as well. Right on man!
federal law requires that warranty be maintained even if you never take it to a dealer for service.
If you forgot to tighten the drain plug and lost the oil, there would be no warranty for that.
Thanx Monky bro😊😂
🙈🐒🙉🙊🐵
Merci bonsoir 🙋pas mal du tout 👍
Thanks for the excellent video. straight forward instructions. I do have a question on another matter. there is some kind of moisture trap ( clear plastic cylinder) that needs to be checked and or drained. do you know what it is called and where it is located. 2022 monkey. dealer had to drain mine, did not see it done. thanks
Thanks bro. Im a novice.
Haha, wow that's a tiny little filter! Capuchin size for the little monkey.
On the 2019-21 models the oil spinner would get grime and metal shavings accumulated there on the first oil change. Would you need to clean the spinner on the 22+ models or is it not required at all?
I always flip the oil plug gasket to make them last longer.
Great video! Thank you for the torque spec on the filter cover, Can you tell us what the torque spec is for the drain plug? Thanks in advance.
24 if you’re still interested
8:58 Pun intended? Thank you for this video. I want to get a Monkey so bad.
Ha ha, absolutely! Thank you, these are cool little bikes
@@jiujitsu2000 I am actually going to trade my 2019 Iron 883 and get a Monkey. I am a beginner and I feel like the 883 is just too much bike for me. I love the way the Monkey looks. Had I known about them before getting my 883 I would have gotten that instead.
And I have it now! I love it!!!!
@@alucart1984 Heck yeah congratulations!
Does anyone have the part number for the 2022/2023 oil filter?
I have a feeling the ice-cream buckets have something to do with the Monkey not going over 50mph. ;-).
(JK Cheers man..thanks for these great vids on the new bike.)
You would be correct! lol!
What do you think about a magnetic drain plug or would the filter be enough?
That's an excellent thing to do
👍👏👏👏
I haven't been able to find any good videos on
doing valve Adj. on 22' monkey, how about it ?
When the time is right! I might just do that. Thank you
@@jiujitsu2000 I always check the valves at the first oil change whether it's required in the manual or not. Better safe than sorry. You don't know if the idiot at the factory actually set them correctly. It's smarter to check them within the first 300 miles.
Did you eat the ice cream in your pre break break?
How many miles did the oil have on it Sir ?
3:26 You show the bolt for oil, but on the left i can see '' empty' hole for another bolt, what it is for?
Just a guess. maybe for after market item. i.e. center stand like one from T-Rex.
What about guarantee, in US you can change the oil by yourself? In Poland you can not do the oil change on your own otherwise your guarantee is canceled. And they ask for oil change 550 zł! ($ 125!).
How many miles till you have to change the oil?
Usually around 600
@@jiujitsu2000Wow that's a oil change every month.
I followed everything exactly and I'm not seeing anything in my sight glass? I've ran it for a few minutes and still nothing? And a few times now, still nothing, totally dry :(... I put in the whole quart :(...IDK... I'll go ask the Face Book group ;)
Interesting. Hmmmmm 🤔
@@jiujitsu2000 I figured out my mistake. I wasn't holding the bike level ....oops, I missed one of your steps, my fault, it's showing at the top line and looks good now. Thanks again
@@todddavis240 kickstand will do that every time. lol Thank you for the update
You still need to clean the screen every 2k miles
my monkey doesnt have a oil filter
You must have something older than 2022 model. Yours has a spinner
@@jiujitsu2000 mine is 86
It Too Powerful !
