This is the most gorgeous bedroom for a child I’ve yet to see. I made both my babies bedrooms classic and It’s not a play room but rather a place to wind down. Small toys, reading, coloring esc and they love it. It’s a calm quiet place which is different than the normal daily chaos.
So beautiful Sophie!!! Interiors are a big investment so it totally makes sense to create a room that grows with them, the best advice! Look forward to your next video!
Love this Sophie. Hearing you talk about being a mum is so lovely! You're going to be one of those fabulous mums that's kids are best friends with when they're older. Have a great weekend
Sophie Paterson you are perfection with your choice of design. This room is so beautiful and calming, the soft colors, the well planned furniture placement, the monogrammed pillows and towel, the reading corner. I love it all.
So beautiful. I love all of the details, the feeling of calmness your spaces provides, and how you carefully selected pieces that will grow with your son. Just beautiful.
Such a calming bedroom, it will transition nicely into all the stages. And off course our little boys will stay the rest of their long long lives with mommy 🤩💙 Another wonderfull interior design, Sophie. Ava and Oscar are lucky to have you as their mommy. X
Somehow my RUclips got me to you. Sophie’s esthetic is so calming and homey.I never knew that I could find comfort in such colors. All of the trim and textures are lovely.Greetings from Connecticut
I absolutely love this room and have been in love with the wallpaper from first sight. My son is 11 now and I still play with the idea of redoing his walls in that wallpaper.🙌
Here is my dream: that one day you will organize a giveaway personalized design advice contest, and that I WILL WIN IT...! I just cannot get enough of your and your team's work. Class, style and refined beauty in every single step of the way. Adorable room for Oscar from his talented mother. Thank you for this Sophie!
These videos are absolutely fantastic! The quality and attention to detail plus your gentle spirit makes them my favourite to watch. Thanks for sharing. I learn so many design tips from you. 😊
I’ve been waiting for this video impatiently and it was soooo worth it! Perfection is the way to describe your work in this room. Two days ago, I saw a room makeover into a nursery room on Architectural Digest’s IG feed. When I saw the full video on RUclips, it was the most impractical nursery design I’ve ever seen. Pretty much everything you recommended in this video NOT to do, this designer did. Terrible. The comment section was on fire with everyone voicing the same opinion. Goes to show that just because a designer is featured on AD, doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re the best, or not mediocre. Thank you, Sophie. Your work never ceases to amaze me. I’ve watched all your videos multiple times and each time I learn something new!
Thank you. Wow I just went to watch the AD video- shocking that safety wasn’t once considered in that space. AD frankly has a responsibility to make sure they are covering these important considerations with a platform that wide reaching.
@@sophiepatersoninteriorsltd Oh yes, totally agree! Imagine, thumb tacks by the crib, a real tree with actual dirt, a candle…. The list goes on. It is a hazardous space in every aspect on top of being an impractical design and poor on aesthetics. I didn’t even finish watching it. I couldn’t take it. That video should be taken down.
As for me your design style is royal. Love your sons room. A room fit for a king. It's a perfect Childs room. Fun, creative, but calming and very practical, long lasting; the picture frames, shelves, wallpaper, change table/ dresser. And love the curves on the furniture. I think the curve on the dresser also made it fit perfectly between the bed. I really like how you always do the trim on window dressings and bedding; all the details you do. Love love girrafe's; prints, art, all of it. I am always looking for well made, designed pieces (for me). The cushion is beautiful for child or adult. Everything in the room is very lux but brilliant how you always include price conscious pieces & make anything look lux. The funky handles are classy too (lol). The bathroom is also super calming and spa like. Love the tile and the placing of it. Very beautiful. Thank you Sophie
Love every room in your house! My son is now 17 and watching this video reminded me that the theme for his nursery had been safari animals…just wish I had found back then the lion on the wall
Ollie the Giraffe! It has a certain ring to it! Lol! Stunning bedroom and I've loved that wallpaper from day one! Personally, my two fave designs of yours is your Utility and this bedroom. Beautiful!
Hi Sophie. I’m loving your videos and you’ve a beautiful home and family. I understand that you’ve a successful business and that you design high end big budget homes. My question is this... where would you shop if your house was on the average wage? Thank you.
I have bought baskets and frames from IKEA. Also Zara home frames and I have a table I have hidden with a table cloth from Amazon. I would look for antiques on the internet and ebay if I were you- it’s much better quality than mass produced cheap furniture and you can get some bargains. My cabinet in the living room was under £200 and then we repainted it.
The wall paper is beautiful and hard to believe it is not fabric. The room is beautiful and I love the baby bed in the corner and the framed animals all make for a room he will love for many years to come.
As someone who processes life through writing and art, it made complete sense to me that you turned to your craft to adjust to the news that you’re having a boy!
What a lovely room.Im glad i found u.I am in process to create a room for my 5 year old girl and was debating that i need a regular queen bed instead of those house beds and nice deep rich calming colors and wallpaper.Room is not very big its 10*10 and 8 ft celing. Now I’m sure what i was thinking im gonna put it that way.
I also have a son, and he always touched the towel when he's small. called the towel as a friend... 😉 Anyway, Your little Oscar is so cute like an angel.
Hi Sophie, Beautiful scheme! One other important safety feature which you didn’t mention (and as a professional curtain maker myself, I thought I would!) is the need for all window dressings to be child safe. All good makers/installers will ensure that the cords at the back of Roman blinds have breakaway devices which will release if a child is caught up in them; and that the cords and chains used to open and close blinds and tracked curtains will also pull apart if anything more than 6kg of pressure is placed upon them. As part of consumer protection law we have been legally obliged to make sure that curtains and blinds in any room in the UK comply with this standard since 2014. How many times have we seen children climbing onto windowsills to look outside? Of course the easiest way to make windows safe is with snazzy electric blinds …. 😉😀
Bedrooms are for sleeping and relaxing, when you incorpate play into the bedroom too much it prevents that relaxation and soothing they should gain by being in that room.. definitely not depriving them! You've balanced it perfectly. Your house is gorgeous and the kids rooms are beautiful
I absolutely cant stand the types of children's rooms that have goofy characters on the wall. I much prefer what you did here. This room is absolutely charming. The color combination is soothing as well as classic. I love the nappy changing station and shelves. The entire room has a Ralph Lauren feel to it. Just lovely. The real life animal prints are what i prefer to see instead of any cartoon. Absolutely endearing. Gorgeous
Totally agree with the daybed problems. We’ve got the ikea hemnes daybed. One slap broke every time my husband climes on!! 😓And it’s so hard to put away. I just left it out all the time!! Thanks for sharing this. Xx

Lovely video Sophie. Rather randomly, please can I ask what lipstick you’re wearing? Looks the perfect red. I love your sense of style by the way, as much as your interior design x
Do all your bedrooms and adjoining hallway(s) have the same carpet? Do you prefer carpet or parquet/wood floors for bedrooms? I'm trying to make my kids bedrooms in our new home comfortable and this is one area I'm struggling with. Thanks for all the tours and amazing advice.

Friendly monogramming tip from a fellow monogram lover that you can take or leave: “If all the letters are the same size (also known as block), initials are ordered like your name: first, middle and last. If the monogram features a larger center initial (traditional monogramming), the ordering is always *first, last, and then middle* “

There is no way other than drilling into the wall and using screws. To stop it pulling the wallpaper we often use a nail and tap a hole first. I am quite selective where I put art on wallpaper - I only put it up in places I know I will always have art, even when we change what the art is
