Dear Sophie, I cried when you were crying. As a kid, I experienced the empty living room when my dad was out of job and my parent sold almost all the furniture. During therapy, I understood how traumatizing it was, and how it had still a big effect on me, after 40+ years. This is my 2nd video. This was so beautiful both your home and your heart for these women. I'm in the USA and it was hard raising 2 babies by myself but now they are grown and they are wonderful adults. I just let them be themselves and try new things. I worked alot but we were together and thats what's important. Have a wonderful Christmas!❤😊

We ave Smith Family here in Australia, and similar women’s support refuges to those in England. Whenever children are affected, it brings tears to my eyes as well. We do a ‘Care Package Collection’ through my Grammar School here in Brisbane every year to help families experiencing hardship; it’s wonderful to see how many caring people there are as well. Love that you don't feel the need to re-theme your tree every year. When I moved from New England to south Florida, I didn't like how my northern ornaments looked against a background of bright green and palm trees just outside the sliding doors. My solution was to buy sequined aqua ribbon and drape it around the tree with the ornaments I already had. Problem solved for the price of ribbon.

I was still at work when the alert pinged on my phone for this video and I actually squeaked with excitement! Today after work was earmarked for putting my tree up so the timing was perfect. I had a quick scoot round to my local interiors shop to stock up on festive candles and diffusers then it was straight home to watch. I am acutely aware that this time of the year is so loaded emotionally for so many people, myself included. You always touch on these topics with such an empathic lightness. I'm sure the charities you are involved with will welcome the exposure you can give them. And it's refreshing to know you're not one of these people that change your Christmas decor every year. You are undoubtedly in a privileged position but you keep it real and that's why we love watching your videos. every night before bed..i take a nice long hot bath..then right before i climb in the bed to relax..the lights are low and warm..and i spray a lil scent...i have a few..around the room. it makes me feel good about creating this ritual for myself before bed. ❤

We're lucky enough to be cozied up in our safe, warm homes and these women and their children, who have gone through untold hell, now have to make a new, safe life for themselves (terrifying). Oh darling I cried :( I was one of those women 2 years ago. I felt like I had failed my son . I also have ADHD so struggle with executive function. My son is Autistic so I really felt it deeper. It made me realise the beauty in the small things. I love watching you me videos you come across so caring and calm. When we finally got housed. We didn't have floors and I bought some huge beanbags on sale in John Lewis . I just told myself just take your time. Save for the essentials . My son would jump on them and I could hear friends children laughing upstairs . Everyone loved them. We didn't have much but we had peace Sophie ... and you can't put a price on that. Loved the simplicity of your garden scavenger hunt in your garden. This is why I need to move back home to UK so I can do this again. Arrangements turned out so well. The children's trees are so sweet. I am going to save some of those gift ideas for this coming holiday season. I too love a natural wreath at the front door and feel so inspired to find a replacement for the company I used to source one as they closed. About those "life skills"...It makes absolutely NO difference WHAT you teach your children. If you are a fisherman, teach them how to fish, if you like flower arranging, teach them to arrange flowers. First, you are establishing yourself irrevocably in their minds as experts on adulting (which is far more complex than knowing how to balance one's check book). Second, you are interacting with them. The children are not only learning the subject, they are learning the art of learning. The kids are getting opportunities to develop their own interests. Some will stick, some will be life-long passions. You never know. Just keep teaching them and letting them learn and experiment at their own pace and in their own way. So, well done, Sophie!

Beautiful work with people that have less, I was homeless I will say 3 times now I'm living in a single family trailer, is mom Martha she is turning 80 in February, my daughter Leticia she is now 16 turning 17 in March, our pet Luli and me it's been a journey duficult times but even through the hard times we made it, now our trailer we have worked very hard and it is beautiful and this November for Thanksgiving the day before we went to a public box and dropped off about $200 in food (can goods) and we are planning to donate again December 23, ... This is my 2nd video. This was so beautiful both your home and your heart for these women. I'm in the USA and it was hard raising 2 babies by myself but now they are grown and they are wonderful adults. I just let them be themselves and try new things. I worked alot but we were together and thats what's important. Have a wonderful Christmas!❤😊

Thank you Sophie for sharing with us the incredible charities you’re associated with. Even purchasing charity seasonal cards is a good way to support them. We ave Smith Family here in Australia, and similar women’s support refuges to those in England. Whenever children are affected, it brings tears to my eyes as well. We do a ‘Care Package Collection’ through my Grammar School here in Brisbane every year to help families experiencing hardship; it’s wonderful to see how many caring people there are as well. Love that you don't feel the need to re-theme your tree every year. When I moved from New England to south Florida, I didn't like how my northern ornaments looked against a background of bright green and palm trees just outside the sliding doors. My solution was to buy sequined aqua ribbon and drape it around the tree with the ornaments I already had. Problem solved for the price of ribbon.

I was still at work when the alert pinged on my phone for this video and I actually squeaked with excitement! Today after work was earmarked for putting my tree up so the timing was perfect. I had a quick scoot round to my local interiors shop to stock up on festive candles and diffusers then it was straight home to watch. I am acutely aware that this time of the year is so loaded emotionally for so many people, myself included. You always touch on these topics with such an empathic lightness. I'm sure the charities you are involved with will welcome the exposure you can give them. And it's refreshing to know you're not one of these people that change your Christmas decor every year. You are undoubtedly in a privileged position but you keep it real and that's why we love watching your videos.
Now if you'll excuse me I've got some candles to light, Christmas music to listen to and a tree to decorate 🎄

every night before bed..i take a nice long hot bath..then right before i climb in the bed to relax..the lights are low and warm..and i spray a lil scent...i have a few..around the room. it makes me feel good about creating this ritual for myself before bed. ❤

I love your decorating ideas and the other videos I've seen of yours. Keep doing what you're doing please. I commend you for helping women's refuge charities. We're lucky enough to be cozied up in our safe, warm homes and these women and their children, who have gone through untold hell, now have to make a new, safe life for themselves (terrifying). I always donate, and especially more at Christmas so I'm definitely going to look up your chosen charities to see where I can help. Thank you Sophie xx

Oh darling I cried :( I was one of those women 2 years ago. I felt like I had failed my son . I also have ADHD so struggle with executive function. My son is Autistic so I really felt it deeper. It made me realise the beauty in the small things. I love watching you me videos you come across so caring and calm. When we finally got housed. We didn't have floors and I bought some huge beanbags on sale in John Lewis . I just told myself just take your time. Save for the essentials . My son would jump on them and I could hear friends children laughing upstairs . Everyone loved them. We didn't have much but we had peace Sophie ... and you can't put a price on that. The rest will come xxxx

Loved the simplicity of your garden scavenger hunt in your garden. This is why I need to move back home to UK so I can do this again. Arrangements turned out so well. The children's trees are so sweet. I am going to save some of those gift ideas for this coming holiday season. I too love a natural wreath at the front door and feel so inspired to find a replacement for the company I used to source one as they closed. Has always been a wish to go see London with the lights on the High St and Kew Gardens. Must make that happen. Thanks for all the great ideas Sophie.

About those "life skills"...It makes absolutely NO difference WHAT you teach your children. If you are a fisherman, teach them how to fish, if you like flower arranging, teach them to arrange flowers. First, you are establishing yourself irrevocably in their minds as experts on adulting (which is far more complex than knowing how to balance one's check book). Second, you are interacting with them. The children are not only learning the subject, they are learning the art of learning. The kids are getting opportunities to develop their own interests. Some will stick, some will be life-long passions. You never know. Just keep teaching them and letting them learn and experiment at their own pace and in their own way. So, well done, Sophie!

Beautiful work with people that have less, I was homeless I will say 3 times now I'm living in a single family trailer, is mom Martha she is turning 80 in February, my daughter Leticia she is now 16 turning 17 in March, our pet Luli and me it's been a journey duficult times but even through the hard times we made it, now our trailer we have worked very hard and it is beautiful and this November for Thanksgiving the day before we went to a public box and dropped off about $200 in food (can goods) and we are planning to donate again December 23, ... I usually support food banks and now warm banks because I think everyone should have enough to eat and a warm place to stay.
