In this Elden Ring Build Guide, I’ll be showing you my Death Knight's Twin Axes build. This is a Shadow of the Erdtree build that takes place after level 150. I made a build like this and it carried me through most of the DLC. Swapping back and forth between the paired and great axe variant was so much fun. Literally a lightning god.
The long axe just feels better to me. Not a fan of the paired axe moveset it’s so slow.
@@revelation9125 the long axe is definitely amazing and is two dodges in one powerful offensive move. It was my main weapon for sure.
@@revelation9125 I've always liked great axes, especially ones with this heavy attack, but the special ash of war ones in the base game kinda suck imo. So the lightning great axe instantly became one of my favorites, it's just so cool.
@@BirdMoose +1 to that! I also found the Twin Axes to be super weak with their R1s and R2s. The Greataxe deals more damage and you can stunlock a lot of enemies.
In this video it seems like the Weapon Art hits pretty hard though. Maybe I'll give it another try.
Then again, the Greataxe is just soooo amazing....
Here's the real cheese guys. Greataxe mainhand twinaxe offhand. It allows great mixups and chase potential.

First boss that I've seen in a long while where I wanted to be just like him and having such a respect for the dragons of the lands between it just fits right into my build.

You could actually take this build to a higher level by using the new knight's lightning spear, paired with the gravestone seal. Lightning spear will get buffed from the armor aswell, making it a super versatile build.

This build genuinely has made me want to change from the dark moonsword build I've been rolling with for a long time. Like the fact this build lets you dodge and then follow up with a heavy blow of rapid attacks is insane. Definitely going to try this out.

I just got these yesterday in my playthrough. I like using it to close gaps as you mentioned. Really good for enemies or even players who like to keep distance.

You can definitely do this as well with the long shaft version of the axe. I actually ran this with the long one and it has been working well so far. Thank you for all the videos!

The ash on that thing is really fun and hits hard. Also like half of the bosses in this dlc are standing in water so you get extra damage from that as well.

I’ve actually been enjoying the death knight long axe more than the twin axes. Does a lot more poise damage and has a better move set with a similar ash of war and requirements.
Quite different ashes of war, and imo the twin axes one is alot more fun, though I agree that AoW aside the greataxe is better
@@albertdrevdal4233the ashes of war are both variants of blink bolt, not that different
@@ButternutQuash one is a fast multi attack, the other a single big swing, quite different in terms of talismans and fighting Style I think
@@albertdrevdal4233the only difference is that one procs the multi hit talisman and the other deals more stance damage
functionally you use then the exact same way: blinkbolt to dodge an attack into the bonk

The dlc has added so many great builds and these videos are amazing! Yet it’s frustrating that it seems the final boss narrows your options to a handful of play styles

The death knight's wings were so damn cool
8:36 the weapons scale better with faith than dex in general. ( STR=75, DEX=48, Faith= 63) and the ash of war scales based on faith despite being thunder! it might be beter to have have Str40/dex=20/faith=40 to be able to cast some ranged damage. After that boost faith to 60( to increase incatation and ash of war) and lose just 17 raw Attack AR , when compared to boost STR to 60.
Lightning scales with Dex, doesn't it?
@@misterros94 yes but Miyazaki decided to make Dex users' lifes harder again and made it scale off of Faith because why the fuck not?
I'm so happy we *finally* got a Faith lightning weapon, and it's good enough to dedicate a whole build for!

As of 1.13, the optimal stat distribution for this probably changed completely. DEX now increases the Lightning damage (on top of physical), making it better than STR. FTH no longer increases Lightning damage, but increases physical instead, making it only slightly worse than STR.
DEX/FTH seems to be the way to go now.

@@chikanduaguibe6772 Idk why it's not in the patch notes, probably a change they didn't intend to ship (cuz the Longhaft axe did not get changed)

@@Remin-fz4gj I’m literally playing right now and at +10 upgrade the Death Knight Twin Axes attribute scaling reads STR - C, DEX - D, FTH - C. So how does that square with your assertion that DEX is the best attribute?

Running a death build and seeing death knight in the title got my hopes up. I'd like to see a build using some of the new death weapons and sorceries.

I have a build idea you could do, and that is the Carian Swordmaster using the Carian Sorcery Sword with all the Carian Sword sorceries and the Glintblade sorceries and things like that (I also like Gavel of Haima for this even tho it's a Raya Lucaria sorcery). For my off hand I like the Carian Thrusting shield so I'm not stuck with Impaling Thrust from the weapon, and because it just fits the look
For armour I really like Rellana's set maybe with parts of the Carian Knights set mixed in, tho that does reduce the poise a little
It's honestly a super fun build in my opinion

i will definitely be implementing this build in my playthrough of shadow of the erdtree. incidentally, will you be making an update for certain weapons that were nerfed/buffed to see if their is better ways to use them? for example, i was using my darkmoon greatsword build for the base game even after the patched nerfed it's poise damage. my roadblock was funny enough mohg who i kept getting close to beating butt never managing to because i couldn't deal enough poise damage to stun him in his second phase so i had to bite the bullet and use a summon. sorry for the rambling and great video as always. it worth to focus on faith . the ash of war scales with Faith not Dex despite being thunder.
@Hentirion yeah I know, with Millicents, don't need any dex, just pump Str and faith and get massive gains. With Clawmark Seal for throwing lightning

I'm still in love with the death spell / sword of night and flame build. Not that this isn't cool too, but the death knight title made me get my hope up....
I also think the divine bird armor is a good substitute for more poise and looks pretty sick with the other pieces
Haven't used any other weapon since I got these. They're my fav
for those looking for a more strength / faith and not rely so much on the milicent talisman combo, get the great axe that has essentially the same AoW but its a jump into a dunk with the axe and does even more poise damage and you can allocate the dex points into something else, for instance faith to take full advantage of the armor boost to dragon cult incantations and throw in some lighting bolts and other incantations too with the stone gravel seal
Hey, would love to see a smithscript dagger build, I tried doing it with flame art infusion, the new splitter throw ash of war, rakshasa armor, fire scorpion, sword talisman, smithscript talisman and shard of Alexander, on lvl 150 with 80 faith I did almost no damage (around 1300 with the ash of war, and 1100 is almost the damage of the light attack).
Tried to with keen infusion, full dexterity with bloodhound step and a jump heavy attack build, it's fun to be ninja like, but not very good damage to, I really loved this new weapon but can't see a good way to build it
Another tip is that you can move around in different directions while you do the weapon skill, you don’t have to just go forward. You were twirl around in the direction you move the joystick so you can go back-and-forth or in a circle etc… it’s very cool and can help move around a boss’s attack animation.

Thrusting shields like the carian one. Apparently they have block frames during the attack combos so if you delay your attack inputs you are basically blocking between attacks sounds awesome ngl and would love to see a build usiing them. Also want to say i am waiting veryyyy patiently for the dragon cult build i have no idea how your going to go with it but im excited between the death knight armor and the preistess form idk how you would use both.
Sidenote deathknight armor was my fav of the new armor didnt realize until your vid that it buff cult incants AND skills 😊
This is the build I’ve been using, it’s so much fun! But I’ve been using it with the greataxe instead of the twinaxe
Tried a lot of build in the dlc and the dragon cult one with these has been my favourite. Just run lightning scorpion charm, gravel stone seal, sacrificial axe, and lightning perfume in right hand with these axes

Dude invaded with a similar build when I was deep in a swamp. Scared the hell out of me. Firing bolts and zapping right though me. Unfortunately for him the Anvil Hammers delayed spike aoe hard countered his multihit combo. But damn his build looked way cooler than mine.

Ironically enough I made a build similar to this before seeing this video but I also used nearly all of the lightning spells in the base game and the knights lightning spear spell from the DLC
The special move does a dash before the attack so will the laceratimg crossed tree talisman work?

Full Godwyn build with the Death Knight set, DK longhafted axe, and knight’s lightning spear has been crushing the dlc for me. Tried the paired axes but I find the greataxe variant ash is easier to land and does more damage+poise damage, and I much prefer the greataxe to the paired axes.
Well, looks like I'll be putting my next few levels into faith.

Please do a dragon hunter great katana build
There is a good argument to bring down strength and get up to 36 faith for the knights lighting spear as a ranged option or 40 dex for the Bolt of Gransax. I use a build similar to this with the great shield as well. I feel like you can drop down to 50 vigor pretty comfortably if your making use of a great shield.
Please do a build featuring the pole of the bud and rot themed incantations 🙏
