I have a 1976 Cadillac Seville with bucket seats where the passenger side power seat works but the driver's side six way power seat doesn't work. It clicks when I operate the switch, but the motor will not move. The courtesy lights at night dim when I attempt to operate the power seat switch. I tried spraying penetrating oil on all four bolts and nuts I could see under the seat. It started to work intermittently. But, after spraying the front bolts and nuts which were rusty, it stopped working. The ground wire with the round end that is supposed to bolt on to the floor I couldn't find. Does this sound like a motor problem or relay problem? Or just a ground problem? Sincerely Yours, Duane Wong Somerset, PA.
@@duanewong sounds to me like a motor problem. It wouldn’t work at all if it was the relay. I don’t know exactly what the underside of a 76 looks like, but I would grease the tracks and any gears you can find. Cables maybe. Look for any frayed or loose wires, too.
A helpful tip for taking the seat in and out... Remove the metal side trim pieces the one holding the switch and the one for the seat back. Then take the seatback off the bottom of the bench seat. with the seatback off it is a lot easier to move around. I can't remember if the instructions to do this is in the Shop Manual or Body Manual. But it is very simple.
Interesting. The manual doesn't say anything about that for the "Full-Width Electric Six-Way Tilt," as they call it. Just says to unbolt it from the floor and "with the aid of a helper, carefully remove seat assembly." Hopefully I never have to take it back out, but if I do, I'll give this a try. Thanks!
The body by Fisher service manual for 1966 mentions removing the backs from the seats, but way after it goes into detail how to remove the front seat in general.
0:18 drilling holes into the dash to ad cheap aftermarket gauges is really insane. You could have put them where the ashtrays are so you can hide em if needed but holes in the plastic dash ? Big no no. Some idiot did that on my 66 with a switch to the heater fan to bypass all the automatic climate control (bcs the AC was removed) and now i’m left searching for an undamaged black plastic trim piece that goes there.
I got mine off ebay: www.ebay.com/itm/224439301229 That's both the body and shop manual. Since the body was made by Fischer, they put out their own service manual, so if you look around, sometimes they come separate.
I love old Caddy's but the main reason I subscribed was that your subscription count was at "666", which isn't a good look. The rest is up to you. Cheers.
Enjoyed your video and learned how complicated a six-way power seat is. And love your beard.
Thanks for showing the problems. I made the same experience with the main problem. The switch.
I respect your patients and tenacity, sir !
That seat heavy as hell😂😂
Great video and a great help… from Ireland…. 🤘
You is the G.O.A.T.
Very informative... Got a 63 with the same seat i need to refresh....

Where can I get that book? Does it have info on the engine wiring harness also? I have 1965 Fleetwood the 4 door.

I know that Steve Bishko used to sell EVERY shop Manual online.
