Great video! On my 71 Fleetwood, I note the following wires: FWD - F and B energized (Drk GRN & Lt Blue) Rearward - C and B energized (Yellow & Lt. Blue) Front Tilt Up - F and E energized (Drk GRN and Lt GRN) Front Tilt Dn - C and E energized (Yellow & Lt GRN) Rear Tilt Up - F and D energized (Drk GRN & Tan) Rear Tilt Dn - C and D energized (Yellow & Tan) Lt Blue is Horizontal Lt Green is Front Tilt Tan is Rear Tilt Dark Green is Forward and Up Yellow is Rearward and Down When the center button is pushed up (or down,) what wires get energized? Perhaps 3 - Dark Green & Lt Green & Tan (or down Yellow & Lt Green & Tan). I am guessing the center button up needs to raise the front tilt and rear tilt together??? Is that done by energizing 3 wires in the circuit to simultaneously raise the front tilt, rear tilt and indicate this is a fwd/up movement? The service manual does not seem to mention what happens when the center button is pushed up or down.
Thank you. Great video. That was exactly what was wrong with my 66 eldorado drivers seat. Straight forward fix. Appreciate your video and clear explanation.
@@Caddydaddy Josh, thank you! I believe I will need to do this to mine and your video shows how straight forward it is! Of course, knowing that Caddy Daddy has any parts (if needed) is reassuring too!
The lock actuators are simply solenoids and there is really nothing to service inside. All that can be done is try and clean and lubricate the one moving part. Josh
I have a question about newer styles of GM power seat track. There a some GM's that have 3 seperate motors on the seat track. The first has 3 motor that are side by side (black) . The other type has 3 motors in a differnt arangement 85-88. How dependable are these systems, Can these types of systems be taken apart to clean the gears, tracks, motors, switches ?
@@shawnwimer2730 The only newer power seats I have dealt with are from an Allante. Some you can only clean and lubricate the motors, others you can't get apart without damage. If there has been a lot of moisture and salt inside the car, things will be in much rougher condition. Basically the multi motor setups get rid of the transmission but add two more motors to deal with. Josh
Awesome video! My 79 Cadillac Deville with bucket seats has an issue on the passenger side. Every movement on the switch buttons make something under the seat click but the seat does not move. Just like there’s something stuck or not engaging but definitely getting power. What might this mean?
Since you mentioned hearing a click, that leads me to believe you have the 6-way power seats. That system has two power sources, one for the seat transmission (the likely source of the click) and another for the motor. Check that the motor is getting power with a high-current test lamp. If there is power, then something is mechanically bound up, if no power, then there is an electrical problem. If the problem is mechanical, then you'll need to remove the seat to inspect, clean, and lubricate all the moving parts. Getting a seat that will not move out can be a very difficult and frustrating task since some bolts might be obstructed. Josh
@@Caddydaddy Thank you for responding, I’ve never had a person respond to a question before! Would I be able to send you a small video of me pushing the switches and showing what’s happening under the seat?
thank you for your vid on the transmission .. im having trouble with the motor . i have it out of the 73 eldorado. 3 wires 1 brown active on a single plug , a yellow and blk and a green on wht . to test this motor what wires do i hook onto power, many thanks albert (australia)
To test the seat motor ground the case. Then apply 12 volts to the brown wire and one of the other wires at the same time. Note the direction of rotation of the motor. Now, connect the brown wire and the other wire to 12 volts. The motor should spin in the opposite direction. Do not leave power connected to the brown wire without power to one of the other two wires.

Great information
Hello, Can you do a video on the 6way motor you have in the background? I have one I took apart and forgot how it goes back together.
This video is great, thanks! Do you have a video planned for rebuilding a power door lock actuator (72 coupe)?

Do you rebuild power seat motors or do you have one
for sale for a 1972 monte carlo custom. ?
We don't. Don't have a source for this part. John
How did you clean the parts? What did you use?
We use an ultrasonic cleaning machine with a de-greasing solution.Josh
We should be getting some parts to rebuild seat transmissions listed soon Today is March 4th 2022 Joihn
Do you sale parts?
