I absolutely LOVE my 3rd gen Frontier. New to Nissan and boy I would most definitely recommend it to anyone in the midsize market!!! This truck is a good looking reliable beast.
Agree 100
I had two titans. Both started having engine problems at exactly 100k. Never again will I buy a Nissan.
@@michaelr130 suuks you had to deal with that
@@michaelr130 sorry man must be an anomaly. My buddy had a first gen Titan that went 600k before it was totaled in an accident. 🤷🏽♂️
@@St.Irenaeus maybe my driving habits. I don’t drive like granny.
The Frontier is my favourite just due to the seating position and conventional controls. Also reliability is major.
Solid choice and great truck
Great content. Love my Frontier Pro 4x! Best truck I ever owned hands down.
I'm probably about to get one!
@@robertcarte95do it!
The frontier is a rock solid truck soaked in reliability and well made and proven. And very capable as well. Can not go wrongnwith a frontier
Robert, That would make 2 frontiers in your family! Slap those same falkens you put on your colorado and that pro4x will go anywhere you want to.and when you are ready to buy one call me. Friends have privileges. Will works some deals for you and get it as low and it can be got for.
If they didn't have such laughably low payload capacities, I'd consider it.
Another plus for the Frontier--54:1 crawl ratio.
Frontier is a super solid truck
For someone new to this stuff. Can you explain what that means?
@@colin707 When you put the truck in 4 low and run in 1st gear the gear ratio is 54:1 which is quite low and good for low speed off road use. The engine spins 54 times for each wheel revolution.
Frontier for the win !
Can't argue that. Solid truck
I basically lived this scenario out in real life the last few weeks. I test drove all, and ended up with a Frontier P4X. It did boil down to the Nissan and Canyon AT4. I just could not pull the trigger on the Canyon with the amount of infotainment gremlins those guys are seeming to have, amongst other little issues. I’m sure it will continued to get ironed out, but with the Frontier in model year 3, it just feels more sorted. The value is also hard to beat. Sticker was 48.6k (1.8k dealer bs tint and door guards, etc add on) and went OTD for 43.9k. Love it so far!
Congratulations on an amazing pro4x! Love that truck
Wow you got a good deal they want msrp in Maine New Hampshire and mass I won’t pay it
Colorado z71 is a great option for most people if you trust GM.
Gladiator is very cool, even for people who dont use it like you do, and have great resale value. Im amazed by all the different trims/options for the Jeep!
Both are rock solid options and great vehicles. I must say gm is moving up so fast and their dedication to their customers is unmatched today
@@Jason-Samko well that's certainly a switch. GM kicked a lot of warranty claims into the gutter in the past few years.
@sharkskin3448 have a video coming out veey soon about what gm is doing on the customer care side. It's more than ever ever seen any manufacturer do. And gm went from bead last (in quality in my opinion) to basically first or equal to first in a very short few years. I think gm will the be the one to beat moving forward. For the first time in over 20 years I would not hesitate to own a gm truck.
@@Jason-Samko that's very impressive and warms my heart. GM is my preferred heritage brand from my childhood. In the 60s-70s, my family always preferred GM.
I have a Trail Boss coming at 4k off MSRP. Thanks for the comparison. Feeling good about my deal!
Fantastic! And congratulations on an amazing truck
The Tacoma comes with thin plastic skid plates on the off road version that bend with the wind...
Yes, yea it does. It's quite comical actually same with the spare tire. For the money it costs. I would not complain about either if it was 39k not 50k
i like the 24 frontier! thanks for vid
Solid truck
1 minute in and I know your pick is Gladiator! I'll hang around for the other four comparison. 👍 I'm glad the algo threw this channel at me, it's very informative.

Have 2023 Nissan Pro4x that I bought new. A year and a half in and really like it and have zero complaints. I have had a lot of four-wheel drive trucks over the years, and this is a favorite.
Perfect
Love my '23 Rubicon Gladiator. Hasn't failed me yet. I got a great deal and a good extended warranty. No complaints whatsoever. The troll comments mean nothing to me.
agree 100% And congrats on an amazing truck
@@Jason-Samko Appreciate it!
I’ll pick the frontier all day because it’s proven and it’s mostly mechanical vs electric
Colorado ZR2 hands down.
After extensive research I purchased 2023 ZR2. Fantastic on and off-road. Zero issues
The zr2 is amazing
My 2019 and my 2022 Nissan Frontier were my favorite midsize trucks. They still don't turn worth a crap though. The 2018 Colorado was the worst truck I have ever owned in my life.
The new frontier is excellent
Id never go out into the wild in a fiat product. The worst mistake I ever made was buying at ram 1500 back in the day. Everything broke before 100k miles
I had a dodge durango and it was a giant money burning pit that barely made it to 90k. God they look good tho and the girls love em.
To each their own. Me, I trust jeep reliability way more than anything else out there. My opinion like your is based on personal experience. I've owned many jeeps and rams. Loved them and never once had one go into the shop for anything. My tacoma was in the shop 6 times in 18 months.
The 3.6 in the jeep is a solid engine. I got a 14 Grand Cherokee with the 3.6 Penstar. It has 115,xxx on it now. It's been a good engine.
I have a 2012 ram bighorn that has 125k mi and barely cost me a dime besides breaks and tires. The only reason I'm getting rid of it is the rust has set in hard.
@nicholasbaker2904
I can relate. I have a 01 GMC Sierra that I bought new but it had a pampered life and only has 91,000 on it. Still looks with no rust and 90%original paint. It's been a great truck. I believe thier are good ones and bad in every brand. Alot of it depends on how it has been maintained.
Today Nissan
Solid choice
you forgot to add the GMC it deff looks better then the colorado
Deff doesn’t
Didn't include it as it's basically the same exact truck, just in a tuxedo. But same info applies
Just bought my CPO ‘22 Frontier with less than 20k miles for less than $28k. Has remaining 7yr, 100k warranty. It’s the base king cab but it’s all I needed.
There are places that still want over $30k for a Toyota Tacoma that’s 5yrs old and 80k miles.
Crazy.
Outstanding. Congratulations on a great truck
Will you please make a video talking about how to buy a new colorado or any new truck and get the maximum amount of discounts.
I have a course on it in the description. I made it pre covid when times where better. But I still use the same tactics today and they work the same. The deals just aren't as good. Back them I got a 2019 ram 2500 diesel with a sticker price of 67500 for 51000. Also got a jeep renegade (commuter car for my work) that sticker price was 26300 and I bought it new for 16k. Those were my all time best deals got. And my camper. Bought a 2019 travel trailer that msrp was 39400 and got it for 20800 out the door including tax.
Oh ok I'll definitely watch that. I'm a new subscriber and should have just looked to see if you had already made a video on the subject. Your videos are very informative. Keep it up.
@@scootie484 glad you are enjoying the videos
The Colorado TrailBoss is the best jack of all trades. Best towing and very capable all around. Also and priced well. The gladiator and frontier might have better tow ratings then a Ridgeline but they won't tow better because they all have high strung V6 but don't make any torque under 4000 RPM.
I agree with you on most of your opinion. Ya he glaring problem with the Colorado is the short bed only. At that point, get a suv.
I have a ‘24 frontier Pro4X and it’s a great truck. But I wish I had 4hi auto and more ground clearance so I’ll be upgrading to a gladiator rubicon next fall. I’ve got my eye on a ‘23 gladiator rubicon with the full time transfer case option that I’m hoping I can get a great price on. The benefit of the ‘23 is the windshield which doesn’t have the radio antenna embedded in it or on this model no other safety tech is in the windshield.
The gladiator is an amazing vehicle. Agree not a fan of the antenna in the windshield. And the 4x4auto mode is outstanding on any vehicle. I think for safety it should be standard on all 4x4s.
TB and Pro4X are almost the same price once you add 2 necessary packages to TB. How is the TB a better value?
both great trucks. But the TB has more power more torque, cost less, hold value better and has a better truck bed. But both are great trucks.
From what I'm seeing on the 23 Colorado, it has nothing but problems and they aren't being fixed fast at all. The 19 and 20 models were also full of problems, based on my experience and people I know.
The new Tacoma seems unreliable so far. Gladiator is cool but costs more and I don't live offroad so it's probably too rough of a ride. Ranger and Frontier are the ones I'd look at, but not having the Tremor for 24 kinda ruins the Ranger for me. The Frontier seems like the way to go at this point.
Honestly I think the best bet is to wait maybe a couple years and see where all the models look then. Or just buy something used for far far less than these $45k+ things..
Frontier is a solid option. Have 2 reviews on it already and actually just made one today on the new 24 frontier hard body edition that I will post In a week or so. With that said I'd personally trust the new colorado more than the new ranger. For is notorious for not having parts available for new models for a very long time and fors has lead all manufacturers with 30 plus recalls a year for last 3 years. Just food for thought and my opinion between the 2.
Fair enough. I've never driven the Ranger but my experiences with Colorados are not good. A truck with a V6 also is much more interesting. Regardless, I think waiting for a couple years with these new updated models is a good idea. I guess the Frontier probably doesn't need the wait though. @@Jason-Samko
@@michygeorgYep the frontier is proven already and doing fantastic. Any of these new trucks, It would not hurt to give them a year or 2 to get the bugs worked out.
Bought a 2019 Frontier Pro 4x back in 2019 and I love the thing so much. Been a great vehicle. Love the gunmetal gray on the crew cab. 2” lift/level with bilstein 5100’s and some K02 tires. Upgraded skids and sliders too. Been a great trail truck and a great daily. The only truck I’d look at getting would be a newer Frontier or a Titan Pro4x.
Nissan frontier has always been a solid truck and quality
@@Jason-Samko I dig those gladiators too. Love my dad’s wrangler unlimited rubicon.
@jimjim0058 jeeps are so much fun and so capable
@@Jason-Samko This is kinda funny because after this my dad decided he’s getting a 2024 Pro4x frontier. Trading in his 2015 wrangler rubicon hard rock. We all loved his jeep but he wanted something with a bed and loves my Frontier. He had no intention of looking at anything other than a Frontier or Gladiator. No half tons, no other midsizers because he likes the NA v6’s. He’s just stuck on the color decision now after meeting with the dealer. Going back to the dealer tomorrow to make the final deal.
@jimjim0058 yep the na v6s are a beautiful thing. And it's a shame to gov is making them go away. Tell your dad I said congratulations on his new frontier!
Thank you for this video and I agree and disagree with your picks but you like what do you need for you which is viable and people have their opinions and that’s what I like about your video. Bottom line you said the Colorado is the best one for the normal person and I 100% agree with that. The price, looks, and everything. I’m just wondering about the reliability that’s all but for basic life, a Colorado is tops. The frontier is next.
Reliability wise in my opinion all brands are about thw same. Meaning in 2024 expect any truck you buy to have recalls and need warranty work. The days of true Reliability are about gone from the auto industry
If you don't need the rear seats, you can still buy a full size SWB (approximately 122 inches WB). F150 with a naturally aspirated 5.0 Coyote, Silverado (it's a bit wider) with 2.7 and a slightly used 4th gen RAM 1500.
The F150 has good software - it would probably get you out of most problems even in the RWD version, I don't know the base Silverado, but the RAM 1500 classic is mechanically good in 4WD.
Those are great vehicles as well. I also have a video on full size trucks coming out next week.
Dude Sam. Your talking about the average buyer and naming all these off road options. Average buyers don't go offroad. If i were the one making a list for average buyers i would consider it in this order 1) Price 2) payload 3) fuel economy/ power 4) towing 5) last would be offroad. Maybe even consider longevity and reliability in there depending on the buyer
The average person doesn't follow my channel. My channel is mostly people that off road, hunt, fish, overland and adventure seekers. I bet if I polled my followers only 2 out of 10 could send my a Pic under thier truck and it not be covered in mud.
@@Jason-Samko I appreciate the response my from but you did say average buyer😬😬😬😬. I own a five acre ranch in illinois. I don't hunt or fish. I just need a truck to work myself. But yeah man you do you. There is probably a bigger market for offroad than I think.
bought the frontier very happy great price and reliability
Congratulations on a great truck
I have a question. First time watching, So I hear what you are saying about these 4 wheel drive vehicles, but if the scenario was different in that someone was looking at at buying one of these trucks in a 2 wheel drive configuration, would your list change? I hope I asked that in an understanding way. Looking forward to you suggestions. Thanks
Great question. Honestly my opinion would not change. For me and what matters most to me (combination or quality, reliability, customer care from manufacturer, vehicle capability, price, and style).
Ok, thanks. You make good sense with what you put out. 👍🏻
@@anthonycassata5152 glad you enjoyed it

Your spot on! I have been blessed to own every truck under the sun and the taco was the biggest peace of trash I ever owned ! Broke it got stuck in it could not get out of its own way could not haul my fire wood just a toy. Only good thing about it is it for what ever reason holds it’s value and when I got rid of it I didn’t lose a cent. My father in laws broke in half at the bed and cab, what trash. I had 3 titans and a frontier, great trucks work horses but gas guzzlers. I don’t buy anything GM AFTER THEY took the government taxpayer buyout years ago, got rid of my hummer and avalanche as soon as that happened. Have had several Jeeps only had one bad one, compass that I got my daughter, trash bad engine got ride of that after 1 year. All my other Jeeps were awesome! My gladiator rubicon got 50.000 miles in the first year, best pickup I ever owned and am looking to get a new Willy’s gladiator now. The frontier pro4x would be my next pick especially for what you get for the money. My experience with Jeeps and Toyota have been total opposite of what I here most people say.
My experience is on the same track yours is. 100% on the same track. Except the bailout doesn't bother me now like it did when it happened. At that time I was a ford guy and believed in ford for not taking the bailout. But now I realize all manufacturers are shisters and scam companies.
Frontier and Colorado are my top two, but I see Frontier edging it out because I need long term reliability.
@@jmanultra 2 great trucks
Great info yet again, thx

I looked at an XLT at Ford's site and the rear locker is an option.
Yoy are correct a rear locker is an option. I think I was talking about front lockers. If I said ford didn't offer a rear I mis spoke and apologize.
when you said you live in the swamps i pictured a instragram filter of shrek on you and it was to easy . good well put together video and thoughts .
😂😂think I've actually seen Shrek out there a time or 2
Payload capacities matter a lot. Too many people overload their trucks and don't know, so it matters even if they don't know.
What you think matters is fine, but if you're using a truck as a truck, you're ignoring THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR.
Paid $30,234 for my leftover 2023 gladiator sport. Had the colorado z71 before. Even the base model gladiator is way more capable. Most fun you can have driving in my opinion.
Straight up love the gladiator! But the colorado is sec9nd choice for me above all others
@SamkoWorkShop I agree. Should have bought one 3 years ago instead of the Cherokee trailhawk then Colorado.
The point of buying a truck is to have a functional bed. Only Nissan & Toyota offer a longer bed option.
Not all of us need a cab that seats 4.
I WANT a Gladiator, but will probably settle for the Frontier. The only “truck” with an optional shorter cab/longer bed.
Thank you Nissan.
The Frontier is my choice.
And a great choice
The thing that keeps me away from the gm products is something you nailed that most don't. Lack of a manual transmission.
Totally understand that. Love the manuals. 3 of my last wranglers were manuals. Loved them. Have owned 11 manual trucks in my life. Miss every one if them
I disagree.
Everyone will have their own needs and will develop their own opinions and preferences. I Hunt and fish. So I do a lot of towing and hauling. That equals maintenance and other up keeps.
I've owned a Frontier, F-150 and now a Tacoma. Tacoma is the easiest and cheapest to maintain. The Frontier came in a VERY close second. Brakes on those two vehicles lasted more than 4 years, before I had to replace the brakes and rotors on them.
So yeah....we'll all have our preferences.
Your talking about a 23 or older tacoma and that would be top of my list for reliability. But I'm talking about what's available new now. The 24 tacoma is nothing like the 23 and older 3rd gens. For 24 the tacoma is bottom of my list.
@@Jason-Samko- I freely admit that I'm not an expert, so I'll have to wait on true reliability numbers, once the vehicle past the 2 year mark. Until than, I'm keeping my old Taco, and refrain from making judgements.
@tikitak1155 nothing wrong with that. My job is to educate people on these trucks with 90% facts and documented info. And then I throw in 10% of what my educated opinion and thoughts are. It's all to help people make the smartest vehicle purchase for them. So I don't get the luxury of waiting 2 years to start talking about it. So I provide as much facts as I can find and then sprinkle in my tonight's and opinions.
@@Jason-Samko- Nothing wrong with you providing details, and reporting facts, and it has zero to do, with wanting you to wait 2 years. You have to report and discuss your findings as soon as it's available, so your viewers and audience can be kept informed. I get that.
I'm just giving you my perspective as a consumer. I've never rushed to go out and buy new products. Maybe it's the engineer in me that kept reminding myself, that this particular product has yet to mature. That's why, as a consumer, I'd wait at least 2 years, to allow manufacturers to make necessary improvements. Then, and only then, I'd pass my judgement.
@tikitak1155 you are spot on. I fully believe if you want a reliable vehicle from any manufacturer you should wait at least 2 years for all the new model bugs to get worked out. I have never bought a first year truck. Almoat did as I had a 23 colorado zr2 on order. But canceled it and bought the gladiator rubicon. But that would of be my first risk on a first year. And even though gm rocked it with the first year colorado. My main reason I ordered it was for the channel and the videos. But quickly realized it could of been a mistake. First year vehicles are risky.
2 years on a raptor? Mine was built February 7 and just got a shipping notification so I should be seeing it in a couple weeks.
f150 raptor yes. Ranger raptor is gonna be much tougher unless you know someone or something crazy.
I agree. I had a 2002 tacoma for 18 yrs and 165k mi. Ill never buy one again bc of the costs to get in. Its toyita just orice gouging bc they can
Gladiator has the highest payload i believe, but it was a stetch to compare it to a 2500 lol.
Talking about robustness. Not payload or towing. That would be a very long stretch to a 2500😂
@@Jason-Samko 😂😂😂
GMC Canyon?
Great truck and basically a cokorado in a tuxedo. So everything I say colorado wise carry over to canyon
Talk about jacking up prices. I looked at a Ranger Raptor with a $59K sticker, but the dealer said they are adding a premium of $25K over sticker premium. "F" that.
Gladiator's issue is that Jeep is sending out too many high-end like Rubicon and Mojave to pad their profits. They saturate the market with high cost trim kills their ability to negotiate. At least half of the Rubicons on lots should be Willys.
Honda Ridgeline is a game changer!

I was considering a Gladiator, but they are not that great teaching a long road trip. I really wish RAM made the Dakota. Yet, I test drove the Colorado Z71. I was impressed by the torque that came in pretty soon. It also handled pretty well on the road. I live in a suburb that used to be rural, & now I want to move rural. I was thinking about using the Colorado to toe my car to the race track for track days.
The colorado is a solid truck. I have drove my gladiator across country 23 hours each way twice now and loved it. And I mean non stop driving and sleeping in it at a rest area for a few hours.
@@Jason-Samko I hear you on that. Everytime you take a trip, I will pray to the lord that you make it home safely 🙏
@tholbrook422 greatly appreciated. Thank you. Next one is first week of November. Appreciate the prayers
The Gladiator as he has it would be the most expensive and also the heaviest
For me to get a similarly equipped ranger xlt vs the trailboss its almost $5k more. Thats with the base 2.3l engine instead of the bigger 2.7l.
At that point i can get a similarly equipped gmc canyon with a much nicer interior. To me the new ranger is DOA. The raptor is cool and all, but then.... Zr2.
Ford has lost their mind on pricing. The only vehicle I'd consider (and did purchase) is the maverick, and even that is iffy now with the newest price increases. My xlt awd+luxury package was under $30k. That same set up is now closer to $34k. Which now youre close to Colorado trailboss money which is a much more capable truck.
i would like to have seen nore elaboration on the frontier.
I have 3 videos on the new frontier
@@Jason-Samko thanks will search for them
This might be the last year of the gladiator though
It's not. The gladiator is in the line up until the end of the decade atleast. Memos, documents and videos about jeeps future plans
Who knows for sure. Those memos and documents are probably from before it became Stellantis and new European management came on board. As I hear practically nobody from the old management stayed with Jeep after their latest management shakeup. Anything can be on the chopping block at this point I think.
@is6566 that information was brought toblight during the strike negotiations a couple months ago
I was just in this market a month ago. Turning in a 2021 Trd Off-Road Tacoma coming off of lease; I went through all the same gyrations and easily decided on the Nissan Pro4X.
Was originally planning on a Tacoma, but a comparable vehicle to what I had was over $55,000 and so it was immediately out of consideration. Same as you said.
The Colorado was also very nice and based on price alone it was competitive but it does not lease well. The payments were quite high because the residual was very low. A Z71 residual was only $28.000. Plus I wanted something more off-road focused. The trail boss has no amenities and the ZR2 is way too expensive and also has a poor residual.
My Tacoma was $45,000 with a $37,600 residual; Z71 was about $47,000 with a $28,000 residual ZR2 had only a $33,000 residual.
The Nissan I got with basically every option they have available; the sticker was 49,000 I got it for 47,000 and the residual on it is 36,000 so the payment on a lease was more reasonable. Being mostly work from home and having a second vehicle 10,000 miles a year is plenty sufficient and it doesn’t make sense to buy as the payments would be much higher.
So based on price alone, if the Colorado features meet your needs and you want to buy, I would say it’s a tossup between that and the Frontier. If you’re going to lease, there was only one option.
Great information and very valuable Intel. For thpse not looking to lease that read this residual value is whats left on the vehicle after the lease payments that the lease owner can buy the vehicle for at the end of the lease. Doesn't have much meaning for resale value if you bought one new and then plan to sell it.
It’s insane that there’s no such thing as an affordable truck. I’m glad I bought a base model 4 cylinder 2017 frontier new for 16,700. That’ll never happen again. I still love my 01 base model Tacoma w a manual too
Yep prices today are disgusting

The gladiator might be incredible but the Hinges Rust and Paint bubble off the body and hinges ? That’s not well built and they still did not fix this issue years later. Paint having to be re-painted is totally unacceptable
I will take jeep paint over toyota paint on the tacoma anyway and I own both. And my jeep has zero bubbles or zero issues. According to car repair pail or one of those I read that paint issues was on like 1.1% of jeeps. I have zero fears. And if the paint fails, I'll have it fixed under warranty. Not a care in the world about and concerns with jeep.

Kelly Blue Book and Let’s drive rated the Tacoma the best lol
@darrell1374 yep they base it all on past vehicles as they don't have good enough data on new ones. Either that or they are paid..lol
I don’t know. It seemed like they reviewed them pretty thoroughly and not that long ago. But then you have Edmunds, who did not even really care for the Tacoma that much like the others did. The Colorado did get mostly good reviews.

3) 🇺🇸🇫🇷🇮🇹 Jeep Gladiator
4) 🇯🇵🇫🇷Nissan Frontier
5) 🇯🇵Toyota Tacoma
Solid order.
Hey Samko, I love the video. I do have questions on some stuff u said in the video.
1st: why do you favor the solid front axle so much? Sure it is more sealed off from the elements. It also decreases gas mpg (some), can’t articulate (because of the sway bar holding it), it also acts has an anchor when going through deep mud&ruts. Like you said, it also decreases the driving experience (for some). As far as reliability goes, modern IFS seems to be quiet durable and in a lot of this breaks less the a solid axle. (Before you guys jump onto me watch some of 4WD 24/7 RUclips. These guys are in Australia and does hard wheeling. Yall can’t see just how good the IFS are when compared to the solid axles).
2nd. Why do you said the PRO4x and Trail Boss are so close? The Colorado has about 1200lbs more towing and more payload that the frontier (I don’t remember the exact numbers). Towing and payload is usually a big reason for buyers to buy a truck. The Frontier is a last gen truck compared to the new gen truck. The Frontier has a lot less room in the cab,… . It just seems like it unfortunately gets beat in most every category.
3rd(lastly). The shocks. The DSSV shocks are made for being abused and used. These shocks are supposed to be super reliable. I believe these shocks would last twice as long as more base types of shocks like the gladiator has.
Great questions!
On the solid front axle it actually does articulate alot more than ifs, has way more travel than ifs, is much more robust than ifs. Off road a solid front axle is very hard to beat.
The frontier may not tow as much, but it's proven super reliable and quality made. And it's a very capable truck that you can get for a lower than msrp price making it a great buy. That's what makes it a close comparison to the colorado.
The dssv shocks are great shocks. But there are many people that have had problems with them blowing out way too early. And being a very expensive shock it's something I have to consider as some one that doesn't just offroad once or twice a month. I am in the crap for 200-300 miles a week every week. I hunt for a living. My income is all thru content creation for my hunting channel. This channel is my fun hobby.
@@Jason-Samko Hey Samko, thanks for your reply and answers. I do like your reasoning for your opinions and I support your opinions a lot. Would you consider doing more videos of you off-roading? Again, thanks for your response!
@ethannorton1560 I don't actually do "cool or worth watching off roading". My offloading is hundreds of miles down peanut butter mud swamp roads with alot of big holes in them. I have to drive them to get to my hunting spots (I make a living by hunting and making content for my hunting channel). And I seldom have time to set up cameras to do videos of it. But honestly is just boring mud and holes. But they sure are nasty.
@@Jason-Samko Oh, ya, that makes sense. Thanks for your explanation
When is the next gen Rangers being tested
The 2024 should hit dealersbin 2026😂 just kidding. But shame these trucks are so delayed
Worthwhile video. But personal tastes affect it also. I plan to buy a mid-size truck within the next 10 or 12 months, and expect to keep it maybe 15 years well into my retirement. I want to get a manual transmission -- had many of them in the 1980's and 1990's but haven't had manual in 20 years. Tacoma and Gladiator are the only options with manual. But everything I've seen is that reliability with Jeep under Stellantis is not good, and similarly for decades my opinion has been that General Motors quality is not good. So that leaves Tacoma for me - in either TRD Off-Road or basic "SR" trims If I didn't want a manual I would also consider the Frontier or Ranger. Another note for my lifestyle is that sometimes I need to drive decent freeway miles and my understanding is that the highway noise level on the Gladiator is a problem; so another reason for me not to go with Gladiator. Don't get me wrong - I am not against Jeeps, had a 1999 Wrangler and loved it, but the noise would get old if I cannot reasonably hear the stereo or phone calls at 60 mph.
That's why there are so many different truck brands. Something out there to match anyone's taste and style. However, as someone that knows way more than I should about trucks, my educated opinion is that right now (not 5, 10, 15 years ago) but right now. All trucks are equal in reliability. You can not buy a truck today and not expect it to have multiple recalls, multiple warranty work and multiple repair costs later. They just don't build them good anymore or to last. Toyotas reputation of quality long lasting trucks died with the 2021 tundra and the 23 tacoma. Whatever you buy I'd opt for an extended factory warranty today on all of them
I'll take my Nissan over any of them. No turbo and stellar reliability. Had them for years and never been disappointed.
Glad you are loving it.
Any reason to consider the Canyon AT4 over the Colorado Trailboss?
The canyon is the same thing as the colorado but dressed up nicer. And the canyon is excellent. Just cost more for the tuxedo it wears. Worth it for sure if those features and upgrades matter to you
Will Colorado last like a Tacoma
We’ve been getting over 300k out of our Colorado/Canyon trucks with very few issues. Both the GM and Toyotas are completely new designs, so it really is an unknown at this point.
Great information. Thank you
As holden said we don't know about either yet as time will be thebonly proof. But in 24 I put my money on the colorado, especially with how hard gm is working on quality and customer service. Nobody today cares for their customers more than gm currenty does.
No way bro frontier pro 4x wins hands-down, a trail boss will get you no cruise control imagine that ,but anyway the inside is a plastic tornado inside that Chevrolet truck a fully loaded frontier pro 4x in my opinion is the best way to go ,who wants that turbo charged headache that’s for sure. Thanks for the video. I went and looked at gladiators I wanted a Mojave. I’ve left there with my tail between my legs. Absolutely ridiculous price.
Pro4x is a great truck. I like the colorado better for my needs and style. But can never deny how excellent the frontier is
2024 comes with 35 that's the ZR2 Trail Boss or bison
Bison comes with 35s. Trailboss come with 32s. And the standard zr2 comes with 33s
I’m not trying to hurt your feelings but Stellantis sucks so if your Jeep breaks you’re going to be stuck with it I’m all in on the Frontier
should research that a bit.
GM is Boomin
First option, Tacoma OR Premium and then Chevy Z71. I know Taco is expensive but I would something I would keep for 7 plus years.
Nothing wrong with that. And the tacoma sure is a sexy truck too.
Enjoy you jeep Fiat and fantastic reliability!
Plan to. That's why I bought it. And remember, I make my living knowing things about trucks. So my decision to buy is is an highly educated one. Regardless if you understand it or not. I could of bought any truck on the market, know about every truck on the market, know more about the industry than most people do, and I still chose this jeep! Let that sink it for a minute.
If you buy a truck based on looks, you should have no business getting a truck.
I know, I bought a gladiator. One of the ugliest trucks made😂 but man is it functional for me! And the looks ha e grown on me alot. I love it. But let's be honest for most people looks do come into play when buying a truck.
They all about the same as far as what they can do mechanically…so looks definitely play a big part in my purchase..
If you could cross the reliability of Toyota with the capability of Jeep you would have a great vehicle.
You can do one better now. Jeep! Cause we don't know about the toyota reliability anymore with the 24s
@@Jason-Samko we shall see how the 24’s perform. I don’t think one year is going to fix the situation.
@@davidk6668 agree
I owned a 23 Tacoma off road and my 24 is better in every way. I have had mine for two months so not a few days. Also there is only one of these trucks on the 2024 KBB 5 year value list and it is the Tacoma! When I traded my son’s 2019 SR5 4x4 in for my 2024, it got 88% of what I paid for it. So you may pay, more but you will get back more also!
Glad you are loving your new tacoma!
😂 thanks you
lol yeah the jeep is built well…but it’s unreliable. It won’t last.
Everyone keeps saying that yet I have about 25 in my circle and somehow they are all flawless and many have over 80k miles on them. And all of them are beat to a point that any ifs truck would of fell apart and gave up.
Certainly not the 2024 Tacoma 4th gen Jason as you know that is, unless I’m representing Toyota Motor Corporation like the “The Flyin Freckle”!? 😳
😂😂
@@Jason-Samko I think you’re picking up what/WHO I’m throwing down Jason!!🤣🤣🤣
I completely disagree with you. Ranger had the best ride; seats felt the best and I really liked how quiet it was at 75mph. Excellent tow ratings at 7500 and 1500 payload and rode the best. Largest rear seat and when you close the door it has a solid feel. My second choice was the GMC/Chevy. The Canyon to me had the best looks. The Frontier felt underwhelming, cheap and although the 6 was great for reliability and longevity it lacked the punch of the rest with no Turbo. I went to buy the Frontier due to all the incentives but was not impressed and felt like I was driving a 10 year old truck with terrible mechanical steering. The Toyota is overpriced!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ranger XLT 2wd. 39k MSRP and 37k cost which was 500 under invoice pick it up Monday.
@Jassman3536 congratulations on your new truck! And glad you took the time to test them all and find what's best for you!
Thank you not including the Ridgeline!
That’s not a truck
@@snn517 you are 100% correct! Ridgeline is not a truck
The Ridgeline in my opinion is a big sub compact truck like a mav or snata cruise. It's not body on frame so I didn't include it. With that said. I watched a Ridgeline go through a flooded swamp road that hudrolocked a ram, ripped bumpers off a tundra and stalled a lifted silverado trailboss. Was hunting in south Carolina and road was completely flooded from river over flow. I drove about 1 miles down the 7 mile flooded road in my taxoma and stopped on a high spot after too many close calls in wash outs under the water. Sat there and watched those trucks all fail to go much farther as I ate my lunch. Then I put on waders and hiked into the swamp to hunt. 4 hours later I was 2 miles further down and popped out at the same flooded road. A guy in a Ridgeline with his radio blaring drove by me with father half way up his doors and a smile on his face. I was shocked. He made it 4 miles farther down that road than anyone else did.
Time to change the name of the channel to Jason’s over priced truck reviews.
They are definitely over priced. Everysingle one of them.
Heep,s are garbage I had a 2015 Heep Rubicon in the first 2 years it had over $10,000 in warranty work done and was in the shop 10 months out of those two years I got rid of that heep as soon as I could
That was almost a decade ago and when the pentistar was only a year old. I have zero concerns with my rubicon. I love it and I trust it 100%
You are off road biased for your needs understandable -- Im picking the Ridgeline for the for "on road" daily driver. If I wanted a littel more off road and towing ability I would go with the Colorado, I like the way it looks😁
Cheers
You are spot on. My lifestyle requires a very off road capable vehicle. And the Ridgeline is the nicest truck for on road and excellent at what most do off road as well. I can not find a single flaw with the Ridgeline for it's intended purpose. And agree with yout rhe chevy colorado is the sexiest truck made today!
The sales numbers speak for themselves.
We will see at the end of 24. Expect a big changes this yet
Whut the heck is a gladiator??
Made buy jeep. The jeep truck
Sorry have to call BS: Do a video of you negotiating a 2024 trail boss for 36K.
You can call it anything you want. Doesn't change the fact that it's not hard to do.
@@Jason-Samko Invoice price is over that, and good luck getting the dealer to cut into his hold back - it is easy to say - lets see you do it - you're just talking. You wont do it, because you CANT do it.

@@Jason-Samko Exactly...
The gladiator won’t last especially the engine
K
They give such a huge mark down on Jeeps because they have to😂
Yet I have owned 7 ram and jeep vehicles and bought all of them new, drove them for 2 years and sold them for more than I paid new. Meaning I have drove 7 ram jeep vehicles and got basically paid to do it and never once had one go in the shop for anything. Hope your truck works that hard for you
You have to be a Jeep person to appreciate the Gladiator, it’s looks are dated. And don’t get me started on that ridiculous rubber duck crap 😂🤦🏻♂️ The more I read and watch on the Tacoma, it’s a no go. I’m not paying those prices for an unproven drivetrain. If the ZR2 was offered in a 6ft bed, I’d be all over it. Can’t for the life of me understand a tiny box on a truck. Nissan, hmmmm, might have to give that one a look.
Sounds like the frontier is gonna be best for you
I just could not pull the trigger on a truck without a truck engine. V6 is a minimum but maybe I am just an old school type. Never liked jeeps…. Sorry.
In the midsize world your options are becoming pretty limited today
Frontiers tech is behind and the steering is so heavy
@timdefrank3641 true and many people love both
If nissan woudl update their cameras, infotainment system, cluster, they would take my money. The driver seat is where you will spend all your time and I don't want to feel like I just dropped $45k on a vehicle that is 10 years old. Tacoma has a ways to go to prove itself and of course that price and dealer mandatory markups drop it off my list. Colorado/Canyon is getting over those new design issues and is well priced and that 430 ft lbs for towing is a big plus. Ranger is late to the game and the exterior is pretty bland. While the 2.3 has proven itself the 2.7 is the big draw to the ranger but besides its delay to market you have a big ? around fords notorious 10 speed trans issues and increase in overall recalls lately. Gladiator is no go for me. I have no faith in stellantis products and i am not a jeep guy in general. I am normally a ford guy and own 2 ecosports and a F250 but when I shop this summer to add a mid size its going to be between the '24 colorado Z71 and frontier Pro4X. I will see which one rides the best and which one is quietest/smoothest at highway speeds. If the colorado is noisey that might push me into the outdated nissan.
Love the way you analyze it all and find what's best for you. And in my opinion you can not go wrong with the colorado or the frontier.
Not sure if you made your decision yet, but I think ride comfort, seating comfort, quiet cabin and all around road feel, the frontier takes it. Lacking on the interior a bit but I like mine.
Brought to you by Jeep! Oh and this dude lives in a swamp, in case anyone missed it.
thanks for commenting
GM also less reliable than frontier.
But reliable enough and has many amazing features
the dozens of people who bought a frontier in the last three years love them. If you look at what trucks were equipped with in 2015 the newest highest end frontier still falls short
To each their own. I don't think the frontier falls short and I definitely don't care about tech and the less computers the better in my opinion. But definitely can't fault you for not liking it. Lots of great options out there so something for everone
You forgot the trailblazer
Jeeps have the worst reliability ratings...so that's a No for me!
My jeep at this point 17k miles has been more reliable that my 22 tacoma was. At this point my tacoma was in the shop 3 times already. Jeep zero. Matter of fact I've owned 7 jeep ram vehicles and never one had them go to the shop for anything.
But Jeep is way overpriced and unreliable to boot. Frontier for the win.
Today jeep reliability is top shelf and the pentistar 3.6 is 14 million motors on the road with an outstanding reliability rate
