I like the pick of Boy and the Heron over Spiderverse. It seems there's lots of big frontrunners this year. Will there be any chaos or will things go as most expect? I can't wait to find out.
There are always a few surprises, I'm hoping they make some interesting choices this year. But "Oppenheimer" is still walking away as the biggest winner of the night.
Oppy Sweep! Give Nolan all the Oscars! Also, Perfect Days was in my Top 3 favorite films of last year. It deserves to win Best International Feature and it deserved a Best Picture nomination at the very least
It would be the mother of all upsets. There hasn't been a Best Picture winner without a screenplay nomination since Titanic in 1997. If anything is going to beat Oppenheimer it would be Poor Things or The Holdovers.
My favorite You Tube reviewer/reactor is back with her Oscar prognostications. Definitely agree with you about 'Oppenheimer' being the Best Picture of the Year. But to me 'Zone of Interest' is a very close second. 'Zone of Interest' is such a powerful, chilling movie. Would say it is the best Holocaust related film to come out in recent years along with the Hungarian film from 2015 'Son of Saul.' The contrast between the idyllic Höss home juxtaposed to what lies beyond the garden wall, where gunshots, shouting, and sounds of trains and furnaces are audible is the genuine horror of this movie. How anyone could witness the atrocities of Auschwitz or any other concentration camp and still be able to carry on with a so-called normal existence remains a mystery. Perhaps it can best be described by Hannah Arendt who called it 'the banality of evil.' Regardless, this movie in my estimation is the single best on-screen representation of this horrible duality. And unlike the Holocaust movies we have become accustomed to over the years, there is no bloodshed, emaciated bodies, or acts of terror that are shown on camera. And yet it is convincing. The knowledge we have of the acts of torture being committed is enough to frighten and terrify us that we need not see them to get the full effect.
Hmm you predicting Zone for sound makes me nervous, since i bet for Oppi, and it's strange you said Maestro is obvious for makeup bc i think it is not, Poor Things might be an upset
Sandra Hüller 🇩🇪 is THE REAL BEST ACTRESS this season 2024 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Her playing in "Anatomy of a Fall" and "The Zone of Interest" we're simply SUBLIME 😮💪🏻 Stone or Gladstone are favorites for the Oscars only because they're "americans", and nothing more. It's odd that this year there is a consensus for the supporting acting awards as these are usually where Oscar springs out the surprise wins for the dark horses.
For Best Animated film, its going to Miyazaki. Especially if the Academy thinks this is his last film. Lord knows Miyazaki's son won't be winning anytime soon.😅 Across the Spider-Verse should win. The Boy and the Heron is good but not one of Miyazaki's best. Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke are two of his best. Good Oscars prediction video.👍👏
I feel like Bradley Cooper should win for GOTG 3. I mean, can anyone forget the scene where he says, "WHO ABANDONED ROCKET IN THE VESTIBULE? WHO ABANDONED ROCKET? I mean, it's his day!" Such raw emotion!
If Dune 2 had come out in 2023 as planned, what would be your fave movie of 2023? What movie do you think would win best picture had that happened? Separate note, totally pulling for the holdovers (my fave of '23) for best actor and best picture.
Honestly, I'm SO glad I don't have to watch the "Dune: Part Two" vs "Oppenheimer" race - that would have been way too stressful, and I don't need Nolan and Denis competing against each other for Best Director. Love them both, give them their separate time to shine. I think my fav of the year would have been "Dune" though))
@@ImpressionBlend I'm also glad they are both getting their time to shine. Appreciate the honest answer on Dune. Saw it Sunday and honestly have not felt that blown away by a movie since The Dark Knight.
@@BrettWB LOL I did not like Dune or The Dark Knight. Dune way too loud, boring at times and no connection with the characters at all. The Dark Knight too dark for a superhero movie. Glad you liked both though.
@@tonyg76 part of why i liked both was the sound editing and scores for each. For me, Dune is not about the characters, but the anti messianic message. More relevant today with personality cults than eve. Didnt have an issue with how dark Dark Knight was. Sucks they didnt click for you
Thanks so much for this. Your enthusiasm is infectious. I will be quite perturbed if Cillian Murphy does not go home with an Oscar. I was sold in the first five minutes of the film. 🤞🤞🤞
I would LOVE for Nai Nai and Wai Po or The Last Repair Shop to win Documentary Short, I thoroughly enjoyed both of those, but the cynical part of me thinks it'll go to The ABCs of Book Banning only because of the flashy title. Which sucks because it's the worst of the nominees no question
Ughhh The ABCs of Book Banning is the worst, it's a PowerPoint presentation "sold" as a short. I really hope they do the right thing, even though you're probably right.
I'm just ken is merely a meme song, yeah its cute and fun and all but its nothing compared to what was I made for which perfectly encapsulated the entire movie and its message and story in just a few minute, that song is a masterpiece that resonated with countless people across the world and made a huge impact, I can't wrap my head around anyone genuinely thinking I'm just ken is better, Billie and Finneas for the win❤.
It's definitely a meme song, but it's such a memorable scene, it's part of the story, and Gosling is delivering comedic gold in it. Don't get me wrong, "What Was I Made For" is a good song, and it's well-placed in the movie as well, but it never truly stuck with me and it reminds me of a few other songs I've heard in recent years. I'm here for Billie getting another Oscar though, she's so talented!
In the 1990's and early 2000's I loved watching the Oscars. Now I could care less. I attribute my indifference to the glut of movie award shows week after week starting in early January. ENOUGH. Just have two award shows. The Golden Globes and the Oscars. This has been my TED talk. Thank you.
I agree, the awards season is too long and they are broadcasting things that I don’t think they used to. I wish they would move them back to February too.

Mark Ruffalo deserves best supporting actor by far. RDjr was good, but it wasn't a standout performance. I'd argue Matt Damon was more impressive in Oppenheimer than RDjr.
I’m Just Ken, like the rest of Barbie, was “meh.” I expected The Boy and the Heron to win until Spider-Verse won all the guilds (Producers, Annies, Directors, Editors, etc.). Spider-Verse only really lost BAFTA and The Golden Globes, the two most international voting bodies. We’ll see.
This is one of the biggest lists of movies I have not seen. I just had no interest in most of them. The only one I watched was Poor Things, which I loved. I tried to watch Zone of Interest, but turned it off half way. Zone of Non Interest. Was so lame. Shame as Under the Skin was so good.
I would be very disappointed with a Gladstone win. A historic moment would be insulting to Lily to vote for her solely for that reason. 100% team Emma. It should not matter that Emma has already won an Oscar either.
This is why the "historic moment" of it all was the last thing I mentioned - in no way do I think she's potentially getting the Oscar because of that as the main reason, Lily absolutely deserves it for her amazing performance.
@@ImpressionBlend Glad you liked her performance, but I just do not see it. I am with you on Emma deserving it though. Either way, keep up the good work!
Poor Things was my favorite movie of the year and I didn't even like it that much. Kinda worst cinematic year for me. Hated almost everything. Don't @me. (ok, hated is too strong of a word, I wish I hated almost everything, cause that would mean I felt some strong feelings towards what I saw, except for excruciating boredom. It was more like I was very disappointed and somewhat perplexed. And not even by the movies themselves, but more by the praise some of them got!)
If "The Boy and the Huron" wins Animated Feature I will be through the roof delighted. As for Best Actress I do prefer Emma Stone. However Gladstone and Huller were extraordinary in their own right. To this day I still think Robert Downey Jr. was good but not outstanding...and the same goes for Emily Blunt.
I love Downey Jr performance but my fav would be gosling winning the oscar for non protagonist 🙈😍😂 he was perfect, I say this as a man who everyday tries to find his ken energy 😂
This seems like a very predictable Oscar season. It was a great year for movies but as for the Oscars I’m not really looking forward to it. There is not going to be any real surprises this year and I wish it was

Glad you enjoyed both but I would not say either was my fave. I am behind your The Holdvers wins for best actor and best picture though.
@@tonyg76 part of why i liked both was the sound editing and scores for each. For me, Dune is not about the characters, but the anti messianic message. More relevant today with personality cults than eve. Didnt have an issue with how dark Dark Knight was. Sucks they didnt click for you
Orignal screenplay has really strong entries. There isn't a loser in the bunch.
Team Cillian Murphy!!!!!! Yes! His work is on another level!!!! 🙌🏻
2025 prediction - Sasquatch Sunset will sweep next years Oscars!
Thanks so much for this. Your enthusiasm is infectious. I will be quite perturbed if Cillian Murphy does not go home with an Oscar. I was sold in the first five minutes of the film. 🤞🤞🤞
Thank you! Same here, he is brilliant in every second of "Oppenheimer"
Where do u watch all the shorts?
I had press screeners for some, other are available online
Why does everyone hate war is over? I love this short.
@@ImpressionBlend I'm very happy to be wrong!
Hot take but Sandra Huller should win Best Actress
I don't think this is a hot take, she was excellent!
I think it'll go to Huller, because the two Stones will cancel each other out.
I'm just upset Godzilla Minus One didn't get a nomination for best picture.
Bandwagon named Lily👎

Merci, Marianna
I like Carrie Mulligan in Maestro. Otherwise I’m team Oppenheimer
Emma should win but Lily will win, insulting since it’s a supporting role but she has a narrative that it won’t be ignore.
TEAM OPPENHEIMER
Guys i think Marianna likes Oppenheimer, not sure tho
Hmm you might be onto something here ))
Um, Great Bob!
Great 😊
Mark Ruffalo deserves best supporting actor by far.
RDjr was good, but it wasn't a standout performance. I'd argue Matt Damon was more impressive in Oppenheimer than RDjr.
lily is only on 25% of the film this is a supporting role imo Emma Stone deserves this. Why is Giamatti without an Oscar shocking?
Good call!
Didn't this channel have way more subscribers? 🤔
No? Lol
Let me be the first: I hate the Ken song. And I really don't like the Barbie film. 😢😂
Aha! I knew there were at least a few Ken haters out there!
We’ll see.
I want the John Lennon to win.
Lol i absolutely hate I'm just ken, i found the song super annoying.
Dune spoiler review?
This is one of the biggest lists of movies I have not seen. I just had no interest in most of them. The only one I watched was Poor Things, which I loved. I tried to watch Zone of Interest, but turned it off half way. Zone of Non Interest. Was so lame. Shame as Under the Skin was so good.
The boy and the heron is nothing but a mess. Spiderman will absolutely win.
Its disheartening that most likey Killers of the flower moon will get nothing..😭
Agree with almost all your personal choices. One exception. I just hate Ken. Sorry.
Haha poor Ken! Gosling is performing it at the Oscars, apparently.
There is not going to be any real surprises this year and I wish it was
Poor things production design 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Not a fan?
too bad Scorsese was omitted as usual
i'm just ken shouldn't have even been an option. it's a great song, but with all the feminism getting stomped on with this movie, just No.
Free Palestine!
Oppenheimer is so boring and annoying.
I also didn't like it
Who is this woman...?
Who is this person commenting?
I will be really disappointed if Cillian gets the Oscar for this average acting he brought
Average? He does so much with that role.
I’m glad you are very disappointed 😂😂
