I have 2 Z400 gaming rigs , x5687 GTX 980 and X5690 RTX 2060s with that same ATX PS. All you need to do is run 12V to pins 12 and 23 on the ATX connector. Pin 20 isn't used. Most PS don't even have any pin in that 20 pin slot anymore. Used 2 separate 12V power inputs. Been running great for 2+ years.

what gpu do you have? i have a rx480 and in some games like all games running unreal engine4 the pc reboots after 1 or 2 minutes.... now i dont know just a new psu would do the trick since the rx480 and rx580 had a bug of pushing to much power from the board and this board is pretty shit and quite old so not sure if the better psu will solve the problem as the default psu has enough power....
I literally just bought one of these off ebay just this past week-- so recently that it won't arrive until tomorrow. This motherboard will select PSU very much.I attached SSR-750TR, krpw-ti500w/94+ and both never starts.Only genuine original Delta Electronics one works properly.
I wanted to keep the stock PSU. I made some digging and figured it's not possible without an adaptor. Anyway, I will change the PSU, as well as the motherboard, ram and processor. I'm keeping the case though, I like the old classy aluminum look it has. Thank you for replying and mery christmas!

We haven't tested an RX480 in a Z400 yet. However, ATI recommends a 500W PSU for that particular card. You could give it a try to see if it is stable. You can always upgrade the PSU if it is not stable.

@@thepro08 I wasn't able to overclock to 4.0 without lots of instability so it's probably that as there's no way to increase voltages. Idk how you got an rx480 installed with the stock power supply though as the only extra power connector is a 6-pin...
@@benjaminmcintosh857 you can increase power limit of the cpu in trottlestop . But even stock it works what cpu do you have? Also rx480 came stock with a 8 pin to 6 pin i just atacjed and works fine. For years now... regarding the shutdowns its a gpu bug from amd . You just underclock voltage and dont do to much overclock. Even then i just overclock everything to the max for years
@@thepro08 oh cool I didn't know it came with an adaptor. I've been running throttlestop since I got the system but adjusting power limits isn't the same as increasing voltages. That's why I'm only able to reach 3.8ghz all core whereas people with better motherboards usually get around 4.3-4.5. W3680 btw. Your shutdown problem is more likely to be your CPU in my eyes, but an unstable gpu overclock or undervolt could be the cause too.
Ideally you could drill some custom holes to screw in the atx power supply. There were actually 2 holes that did line up with the atx power supply that we installed.

I also see that you dont have the psu completely pushed in. Is it for a reason? Also can I use tape along with 3m command trips to secure it even more?
@@insidechips3215 can you post some pics on a thread on our forum? We pushed the metal bracket in to mount the 3m strips flush to the top panel. 3m strips are not ideal =/ If you can drill some custom holes to screw the psu in, it would be nice.
@@GreenPCGamerscom Sorry I completely forgot to post pics of the setup but I decided to just lay the pc flat and use 4 strips (2bottom/2side) instead of just 2 on the bottom and it's really secure. It was kind of a pain to put back the shroud though since the cables are really thick. Using a GTX 1660 Ti (Triple Slot) along with a W3680 and it works wonders. Your website and videos helped a bunch!

Hello, I hope you did not payed too much but the PSU is not that bad, it's a Delta, one of the best in PSU... Just don't ask too much from the PSU since it's only a 475 watt PSU.

The fan blows down in to the chassis and then exits out the backchassis fan.

Possibly. Most ATX Power Supplies will work, as long as you can fit them in the chassis, and you use the power adapter cable.

Z420 and Z400 are completely different in term of the main power port. They are not compatible.

We do not. Mainly because the Z600 has a custom fit power supply. ATX power supplies will not fit in to a Z600 workstation.

For moderate to good FPS you could get a EVGA GTX 1060 3GB Graphics Card.
