The fact that we didnt really get to know the avengers is crazy. Because when you read the comics or watch the animated series that’s so much info. They can not compete with the comic version of all the different avengers teams.
The Multiverse Saga will be remembered as that failed experiment when Marvel Studios tried to copy the mistake of the comics that was All-New All-Different and somehow thought it would work.
They were so arrogant thinking they could adapt failed comics into movies and people would like them. There’s decades of stories they glossed over just so we could get Ironheart of all characters…smh.
@@imaginaryking5276 Secret Empire is one of the most underwhelming Marvel events I've read, glad you enjoyed it though, at least you didn't waste your time and money.
@@oranjpeel People need to realize a majority of the late 90s and 2000s story lines are why the MCU sucks now I always knew trying to pivot towards Kang was a fools errand. Most normal people like street level to alien invasion comic stories when these characters start going intergalactic multi verse yadda yadda thats when you begin to lose casual readers you saw this in comics already and you are seeing it in the MCU now, they basically ran out of the good adaptations or wasted them (like they wasted planet hulk for Thor Ragnorok) so they are backed into a corner. It’s also strange to look but the MCU is arguably based a lot on ultimate marvel but a less edgy version of it. MCU is basically turning into the modern comics barely anyone clings to the new characters they introduce and only want the old ones. Comic civil war actually sucks too like I love marvel and DC heroes a lot deep down and even sometimes there are modern one off stories that are fantastic to me but then the next month a new writer takes over and butchers EVERYTHING you liked previously until that gets horrible retconned by yet another writer its an endless cycle. Its why I think some people like cartoons/video game adaptations more becasue they are typically CLOSED writing environments with their own interpretations of the character.
The biggest problem is that literally none of the new MCU avengers know each other. Even the original 6 who did knew each other didn’t stay together. They act like friends from work and mostly go solo. Unlike in the comics and cartoons where they are a family.
we live in a world where people think secret wars is a multiverse story with tons of cameos and nostalgia. we also live in a world where people want to see dr. doom interact with spider-man rather than reed richards.
Well the mcu isn’t the comics and if they were to just make the movies exactly like the comics then wtf is the point of watching the movie if we’ve already read what happens ?
2015 Secret Wars is that. Doctor Doom also meets a lot of characters because he's the antagonist of that story so he even interacts with Doctor Strange. It also makes sense why people want to see Peter interact with Doom because the actor looks like Tony Stark so obviously, people and fans of the MCU want to see the reaction from Peter with Doom looking like Stark
The idea of RDJ's Doom searching the multiverse for evil versions of the 616 Avengers is literally fanfiction, but it won't surprise me if Marvel Studios actually goes through with it. It just really spits on the concept of RDJ playing Doom because if summoning the multiversal Masters Of Evil really is his plan at least for Avengers Doomsday, he might as well be playing Superior Iron Man.
There really is no "Multiverse Saga" People should just start referring to this as "those movies that came out that I don't remember/didn't watch, and that had nothing to do with each other"
having the multiverse be the main storyline in phase 4 was also a mistake in my opinion, secret invasion could've been a whole phase in it of itself and it would've made more sense to have secret invasion as the main storyline in phase 4, and also marvel ruined the skrulls by making them misunderstood victims.
or they could've elaborate better on the "blip and true first contact(with xander or via asgard)" multiverse is really big concept but they were on competition on who does it first rather who does it good, only one or two were hit but biggest portion of them were miss...the blip was really big incedent, population of the universe suddenly increased (like before when it decreased) and it disbalanced the nature again, this de-escalation was really needed and what we got was last half-ass moronic speech from captain america without solution and still keeping the problem vague as if he was scared of pinpointing the problem...and the problem was sovled and never mentioned ever again...
I'll be honest I always thought returning the stones would make a better like 45 min short instead of a full series. Most of the stones are just being handed to someone or placed in a room and Cap already reached the end of his character arc when he leaves to take them back. Seeing him talk to Red Skull would be cool but is it really worth a whole episode to have him talk to Thor from Thor 2 while handing over the aether?
Yeah, just make that journey into a marvel presentation like Werewolf by Night or the Guardians holiday special. Marvel should really try and do more of those
Eh, not all series need to be super duper serious and "MCU plot relevant, relevation shattering, absolutely necessary for the plot" or pure character driven.Sometimes, things can just be for the fun, and there is plenty of popcorn entertainment fun to be had in shenanigans about returning the stones and not altering the past so much as to not create forked realities which was the original idea in endgame as per hulk and the ancient one's talk. Just because you can't mentally conjure fun scenarios from that doesn't mean they aren't possible, it just means good thing you're not a creative writer for a living... hopefully that is the case.
@ but if it’s just gonna be silly fun. If it’s not character driven and the plots don’t matter.. maybe keep it short. Six 30-45 min episodes where the character and plot are just hand wavey shenanigans, look there’s a reason they say “brevity is the soul of wit”. And most of what the hook for the stories would be is seeing Cap return to these moments from MCU history… that was Endgame. Cap confronted himself and Shield during the battle of New York in endgame. We saw someone with knowledge of Thors future talk to someone from Dark World in endgame. A few shenanigans could be fun but I haven’t heard anyone actually pitch what actually happens in this that begs for a full series outside of Cap talks to Red Skull, which would be cool. Six hours of it just seems like overkill
@@pianist150 "its not cahracter driven and the plots dont matter" No plots really matter, again, not every series needs to "matter and drive the overall plot forward". Fun can be just fun. I dont watch Police Squad for a plot that matters or great character moments, I watch it for hijinks and dead pan humour. I dont watch a popcorn action movie for those things either, I watch it for the action, plot is secondary. And so on. Again, just because you aren't interested or you don't see how it could be fun, congrats, you're just like every person who isn't a creative writer, which is most of us.
@@louisvictor3473 "No plots matter" is an insane statement. Do some projects further hinge on plot than others? Sure. But "no plot really matters" is straight up false. Police Squad? I guess if you want it to be a slapstick Naked Gun-esque comedy but then why use the framing device of the stones? I mean, Chris Evans is kinda funny but he's no Leslie Nielsen. It'd be so weird to take this idea and turn it into like an improv comedy showcasing. If we're gonna do that in the MCU why not get actual comedians and come up with a story from the ground up. How does returning the stones narrative lend itself to this? Popcorn action, yeah I agree. I didn't watch Godzilla v Kong for its dense plot, I watched it to see monkey punch lizard. But Godzilla v Kong was like 90 mins long. If the movie was a 6 hour series or a 3 hour movie it'd probably overstay its welcome because all it has to offer is popcorn action You've yet to pitch any kind of idea for what happens. You're only contribution is "nothing matters so do it".. I'm sorry I'm only more convinced that there's not enough here for a full series
He’s more of a DC fan, that’s why he talks about it more. Plus, DC isn’t doing as well so there’s more topic for passionate rambling. Ironically, this video is literally something negative of Marvel, so my point exactly.
Seriously tho the Kang Dynasty could have still happened if the MCU just learned what the word "recasting" was. I feel like to me they're just fictional characters in the end so you can keep them that way with continuing legacies with new actors. Yes, I feel the same way with Chadwick Boseman he was a great Black Panther, but his real life death shouldn't just T'challa from existing too its wacky
@@AdamYJ Exactly so idk why it should be hard for them to learn to do it again. I mean they did it with General Thunderbolt Ross for this new Cap movie
@@uchihabomber1296 They know what it is, they wasted no time when William Hurt died, they probably also saw that what they had shown of Kang so far wasn't really working so they changed direction.
Im pretty sure in Jonathan Majors contract there was something about him being the only actor aloud to play Kang in any live action movie so there legally are not allowed to recast him but I’m not sure if this I true or not
They can’t ruin The Avengers if they haven’t even made a new team yet so as of rn we just have The OG 6 and that was peak Anyways, The X-men are the real future of The MCU anyway so I could care less if The Avengers are good or not, it won’t be as good as The OG 6
They have to treat these projects like actually films. Not just franchises that hang on to the fact to the fact they imitate the comics we loved without actually representing what made them loved
These aren't comics, you get one shot. You can't pass the characters around like the comics do. The comics can experiment, and meander. A movie gets one shot
At this point, Marvel needs a full on reboot, with an entirely new cast, and more based on the main 616, as The OG MCU was based more on the Ultimate Comics. As a side note, I have started watching Earth's Mightiest Heroes and holy shit! It is just as good as everyone says it is.
if they do reboot they need to make separate storylines, namely Spiderman, F4, Xmen and Avengers that run side by side with occasional crossovers also to agree with you about EMH, honestly one of the best adaptations of comic stories and wish they would revive it like xmen97
I’m not sure if Marvel can recapture the magic of the first Avengers team even if they tried. I feel like it’s best that they become X-Men focused especially since it’s been a while since we’ve seen a GOOD X-Men movie and team.
Spider-Man, Black Panther (recasted T'Challa), and Doctor Strange should've been the new trinity. Secret Invasion should have been an Avengers movie and the event that resulted in the formation of the new Avengers team.
Apparently the new mcu trinity was supposed to be Spider-Man, black panther and captain marvel. However Chadwick passed away, captain marvel got backlash and Spider-Man ended up leaving the mcu for a little bit. After that the mcu went heavy on the multiverse storyline even though that wasn’t the original plan. Originally Loki was going to be a series about Loki retelling his childhood. Originally Doctor strange’s sequel wasn’t about the multiverse. It seems marvel had a good plan for a few years and completely abandoned it after the trinity fell apart.
@@RealogOnlyBrodie Seconding this, this was what I had heard at the time too. I think the Sony/Marvel collab ended up getting some heat behind the scenes complicating Spider-Man's role, like you said Chadwick passed (RIP Mr. Boseman), and Captain Marvel was heavily disliked (now they have more proof thanks to The Marvels' flop).
I just wish they laid the groundwork for Doom a few projects ago. Thanos showed up sporadically across the Infinity Saga and his presence was felt even getting a full cameo in GotG1. Doomsday will be our first time seeing Doctor Doom. And I understand Kang was supposed to be our big bad, which is why they had him be the villain of Ant-Man and The Wasp Quantumania. But if I recall, the rumor was always to have Doom as the big bad of Secret Wars.
It feels like nothing is really progressing forward. And how they are going to introduce the FF, Doom, X-Men it would been better to reboot the MCU. Start with a fresh slate and have all the characters from the beginning. That was the problem with the MCU at the start, they had to use their "B List" characters since the movie rights to the most popular were owned by other studios. Because using the Multi verse for everything and to introduce new characters feels very cheap.
The most confusing thing is the fact that they didn't focus on a young new generation of Avengers after Endgame like having Miles, Kamala, Nova etc make a new team
The idea of every new Avengers movies going bigger instead simply make at least 1 smaller film before jumping face first into the big bad is the very definition of unsustainable.
Agreed, because I feel like there's too much in doomsday since they have to set up a new team, set up doom and reed's relationship and set up the multiverse collapsing on itself
An Avengers movie that soon after Endgame would have been rushed. Both phases are trying to flesh out the Multiverse saga and also having to set up individual characters in other projects for the next Avengers movie is a monumental task. You also had legal trouble drama with its main villain for the next Avengers movie which also forced Marvel into a corner and quickly changed direction. Marvel was in a rut but right now it seems like they are trying to make changes and improve from their last phase. For example, starting from scratch with Daredevil and not making it a reboot but rather a continuation from S4. It's not their fault that many of their heroes are basically gone and also the writer's strike and the pandemic didn't help to cause many projects to be stalled
@@user-ku7ww3nn6iI’m sorry but there’s actually no way this movie will flop even if people don’t like it the movie is still easily making over a billion.
Yeah. You can smell the desperation of Marvel. Certainly does NOT make me wanna go watch their stuff, cause it feels like they don't think their stuff is good. Hoping DC does well. There's a lot of marvel i haven't watched yet...and not interested in watching. I did watch Deadpool.. Ugh, what a plotless and unfunny movie that was! That probably was the final coffin nail for me.
I think their main problem is that they rushed tbh Ultron should’ve fought a bigger avengers team Civil war should’ve been a bigger event Infinity war was great but again, should have been bigger and vision was SORRY AF 😭
It’s great but it COULD’VE BEEN SO MUCH BETTER It just had so much untapped potential which is mostly the fault of not having access to the X-men and fantastic 4 😖
SECRET 👏 INVASION 👏 SHOULD 👏 HAVE 👏 BEEN 👏 AN 👏 AVENGERS 👏 MOVIE 👏 also I think it’s kinda funny that the first time we see characters like Sam Wilson’s captain America and moon knight team up is in an episode of what if where they aren’t even the 616 versions of those characters
Here's the thing, the conversation Kevin is probably having with the Russo Brothers is, "Listen guys we need to make a lot of money like what we made the first time around. So I need this idea so be spectacular! We need the money alright. So the idea better be good!" Instead of the conversation being, "We need to really get these characters right. What do you think the next chapter should be for our team of heroes. We should make a story that really challenges their morals, that pushes them to their limits! We should be bringing those attributes people love from the comics to life! That's what I want you guys to do. We need to get these interpretations right!"
@@Red-Renegade-Studios With the amount of money they're spending on this I think most would have the first conversation, now they can't afford to take any chances.
@user-ku7ww3nn6i If they actually knew how to write a good story that doesn't use nostalgic bait to lure in people they wouldn't need to spend millions of dollars. Sam Raimi took a chance at Spider-Man, but made sure to adapt the character he remembered from the comic books. And people love those movies. Netflix Daredevil did the same thing, but because they knew how to write their characters they didn't need to spend billions on famous actors to get people to watch their show. It's about creativity and imagination, not throwing money at the wall.
@@user-ku7ww3nn6i I wouldn't say that creating a consistent roadmap, organizing future goals and milestones, or sticking to the source material is risky. That seems like the safest and easiest thing they could do, it's how MCU's phase 1 was formed and eventually lead up to the highest grossing movie of all time (Endgame). If anything they've already been taking too many risks these recent phases with killing off fan favorites, nerfing and embarassing fan favorites (Dr. Strange and Hulk in particular), "girbossing" every female character, giving no sense of direction or cohesion, changing the source material, integrating identity politics in what should be fun superhero movies with morals and role models anyone could look up to, etc. They don't need a repeat of the Star Wars sequel trilogy where they made no road map and made everything up as they went along.
@@felixdacat4941 Dude I'm talking baout now with the Avengers movies, Doomsday is supposed to come out in 2026, they don't have time for any of that now. With the amount of money they're spending just on the Russos and RDJ, they will need to make a ton of money (probably even more than the previous ones) if they even hope that movie to be profitable, they have no choice but throwing it all in and use every single trick to generate interest, and who knows, maybe the movie will actually be good.
I felt like the Avengers were doomed from the start. Not doing The OG AntMan & Wasp aka Hank and Janet. They should’ve been founding avengers instead of Clint and Nat. MCU should’ve waited for Hawkeye and Black Widow like in Phase 2. Hank should’ve been the 2nd smart guy instead of banner. Janet should’ve been the heart of the team instead of Nat. Hulk and Thor are turned into big jokes where they never should’ve been big jokes at the first place. Thor’s franchise should’ve been epic Shakespearean space fantasy. Not some goofy himbo that lives in a sci-fi world. Hulk, while it is understandable that he couldn’t have his own movies, he shouldn’t be played for jokes. They’re supposed to be the big two powerhouses of the Avengers. Carol Danvers should’ve been in her Ms. Marvel persona and be the 3rd powerhouse on the Avengers. She shouldn’t be the strongest avengers. Storylines such as Civil War and Age of Ultron shouldn’t have happen because they are such big events that it could’ve been saved later or just not be told at all. We are in the middle of the infinity saga. Ultron and Civil war shouldn’t be stepping stones. Instead, why not the masters of evil (led by Zemo) be the antagonists In the 2nd Avengers movie. Instead of Captain America: Civil Dispute, Captain America 3 shoulda been based on the Nomad story from the comics. Cap witnesses a depressed U.S. President commit suicide, shaking his faith in America. He tries to cut ties to the government but they own the name Captain America so he ditches the identity to become Nomad. But then Red Skull returns and kills a kid wearing a Cap costume, forcing him to reclaim his mantle. Have Hank be one to build time travel instead of Tony. Make time travel be the a plot for the entire Ant Man trilogy. The first film is an origin story of hank and Jan as a crime fighting duo. Egghead as the main villain. Maybe in the second movie introduce an evil Hank Pym as Yellowjacket from the future and he wants to make present Janet marry him because she dies in his timeline and that made him run crazy. Introduce Goliath in the film to help Our hank save Janet from his future evil self. 3rd film could be where Ultron is the villain and Hank (alongside with help with a few other avengers) needs to become Yellowjacket to defeat Ultron. Introduce joecasta in the film. Bring back Ultron in phase 4 & 5 as the new big bad instead of Kang. For vormir, Janet dies in replacement for black widow. Literally the new avengers should’ve been easy too. The REAL Black panther, Ms. Marvel (or Monica Rambeau as either Photon or Captain Marvel), Black widow, Hawkeye, War Machine, Falcon, Bucky as the new Captain America, Dr. Pym aka Hank’s scientist adventurer persona, Black Knight and Hercules. Maybe get Hyperion as a new powerhouse replacement for Thor or the Hulk? Idk just rambling.
I kinda hate how marvel can’t re cast black panther. Fans can’t ever actually move on from previous great actors and will always shit on the newer ones. Especially if the older one died. It’s one decision marvel made that I won’t just shit on cause it makes since why they did it.
I honestly dont understand why American studios just never want to copy the source material. They dont need to write new things, just base of the comics. There are great stories that they could just adabt. Its basically free money , but ceos have never read a comic in their life.
This is literally one of the stuff that’s worrying me about Doomsday and Secret Wars. We don’t even know who’s gonna be in the new Avengers roster. Moon Knight, She-Hulk, G’iah, we don’t know their future. Deadpool and Wolverine, we don’t know what’s next for them. The Eternals, Pip the Troll, Starfox, we don’t know what’s next. Thor, Hercules, we don’t know what’s gonna happen. The new Guardians (Warlock, Kraglin, Phyla, Blurp), we don’t know their future. You get my point. Also, the multiverse saga doesn’t even have a main character to carry the plot forward, unlike how Marvel had Iron Man and Captain America for the Infinity Saga. Spider-Man is the most interesting character in the saga, but his appearance is limited thanks to Sony, and considering SM4 is happening between Doomsday and SW, potentially at Battleworld, it’s not a good look. Black Panther could have been a central figure, but tragedy struck and he was replaced by Shuri, and we don’t know what’s next for her or Namor. Reed richards is the main protagonist of the secret Wars 2015 comic storyline, considering the fantastic four are the focal point of the storyline, but he’s being introduced late in the saga. See, the problem is, given how aimless the MCU’s been feeling for the past 3-4 yrs, we don’t even know who is going to be the main character of the saga.
I feel like the infinity saga was really setup like an event comic structuring multiple stories to one main series but the current era is just like normal comics continuity with shit just happening everywhere and characters popping up and disappearing
That’s my problem they are forming the avengers either off screen or in the movie where they fight doom. That can’t be how it works they need to team up before: we should’ve had an avengers movie in phase 4 or phase 5 showing Sam form this new team
Marvel really dropped the ball by tearing down what was once an incredible cinematic universe, all to replace beloved characters with half-baked, "modern" comic characters that never worked in the first place. These characters flopped in the comics, but Marvel doubled down and forced them into the movies anyway-and, surprise, every movie tanked. Now, they’re scrambling to get the old crew back. It’s almost impressive how a company can completely abandon common sense and and logic to fast-track itself to moral, creative and financial bankruptcy.
This might be fake, but something I read said the big three were supposed to be replaced with a similar trinity. Cap and T'Challa (super soldiers), Tony and Parker (tech), Thor and Carol (cosmic). But then Chadwick died, Sony refused to share characters, and nobody like Brie. The plan was quickly scrapped.
In my opinion, the Eternals are gonna be forgotten just like how the Inhumans were forgotten. Now I think the in humans could be brought back, but they’ll be implemented with the fantastic four.
In hindsight, they should’ve split Phase 4 into two parts. The Aftermath Era and the Multiverse Era. The Aftermath Era would be the shows and movies that show the after effects of Endgame like the heroes coming back after five years while at the same time, introducing members for the New Avengers and new characters for the Young Avengers. Both teams built off of the original Avengers as some members have passed the torch the next generation. The Multiverse Era would be shows like Loki and What If, and movies like Spider-Man No Way Home, Doctor Strange 2 and Ant Man 3 showcasing the Multiverse and properly built up Kang as the new big bad as the original plan.
I just feel like nothings really happened since endgame. We’ve had like 4 movie’s or shows actually push the “plot” forward. It’s clear there was no plan and they green lit stuff because they didn’t think they could fail. And OH BOY did they fail.
Not sure that’s the case when the movies these actors star in outside of the MCU tend to struggle at the box office. If it’s the actors that people love, then they should be the constant variable in terms of success, but they’re not, which tells me that people do not care for these actors that much outside of their role as their specific Marvel character. It’s the same with Tobey Maguire. Most of his movies bomb at the box office, but anything mentioning him returning as Spider-Man instantly generates a ton of hype, because people mostly just care about his role as Spider-Man.
They really should have made a New Avengers tetralogy rather than trying to surpass Endgame right off the bat. It would've given a much needed time to get used to a new lineup and expanding on them naturally instead of...whatever they are trying to do now.
I think D&W made a big mistake by calling the MCU earth 616 cause when the MCU was announced they say it's not going to cross paths with the comic universe and name MCU as Earth 19999. So what happened? Did they forget? But yet Sony remember as 2099 Spider-Man mentioned Dr.Strange from the MCU from the right Earth wtf?!?
The reason why Kevin Feige and Disney is so desperate they’re willing to bring back Robert Downey Jr. Chris Evans, and that slate of actors just to most likely play negative variance of their classic characters so villain versions of their iconic roles just sign me up, but let’s stay at the office Disney is that desperate they need that much of a win. Because the fan based revolted with the cast of characters of the new avengers which we’re gonna be Captain Marvel Bucky falcon she Hulk, probably black Knight, Ms. Marvel Kamala, and maybe Yolanda Black widow.
Super hero movies got along just fine without crossovers. It'd be refreshing if there wasn't another big Avengers movie and the characters just did their own things. The death of Black Panther's actor probably threw some wrenches in plans, though.
New Avengers: surrender doom, you have no chance aga- *All the new Avengers get vaporized, leaving charred marks where they used to stand* Doom: Doom is bored
It is a hot take but I believe the reason they found it pretty hard to make that Captain America series was because it'd ruin Steve's character even harder than Endgame did. As much as I liked Endgame in the first watch. A 2nd watch ruins the film. One of those many issues was on why Steve would even go back to Peggy when he's moved on without her. And Cap doesn't think he'd deserve a break. But maybe they could have made the series and it would have been the best Disney series ever. We'll never know
Gotta Disagree but I respect your take for at least having reason to it. Avengers Endgame was awesome but I think we can all agree majority of the MCU declined heavily since.
@hazman5528 And I myself don't say my opinion is popular or everyone should agree with it. But with the whole MCU getting worse after Endgame. It's VERY hard to oppose the opinion. Beginning of Phase 4 it would be hard to say the phase wasn't good. But it's something I've noticed and some people have picked up. It's the post endgame effect. Where now it's much harder to hide bad movies like phase 3 did. But I will admit I was a little kid when the whole MCU started so maybe it's all just because I'm growing up
@ that’s a fair take which I respect. I think they should’ve maybe taken a bigger break to plan the new saga for the MCU better once Endgame concluded phase 1-3. Like they had some good ideas. Whatever happened to Kang Dynasty? I know Jonathon Majors unfortunately got into controversy (innocent or not) but it at least had some continuity for phase 4 onward…now they’ve shot themselves in the foot with RDJ back as Doctor Doom. Makes no sense. It’s frustrating too, because while the show was not for everyone I LOVED the Loki series. One of the bright spots of phase 4&5 along with a few other good ones. But I 100% agree. The narrative is messy, more than ever now. And the quality is way worse than it’s ever been. At least the infinity saga had strong character arcs to keep us invested even through the weak movies back then. I look forward to daredevil born again but I feel like moving on after that.
@hazman5528 Thank you for respecting my own take as I do for yours. I myself who doesn't really like how things went in Phase 4 and 5. Still Kang Dynasty would have made all the multiverse building worth it right? A break for a few if not 3 years would have been for the best. Even beneficial in making sure the story they want to tell won't backfire and lesf to box office bomb after bomb. If not bomb the movies will be poorly received. I myself do want to be happy and excited for Daredevil born again. I'm being told things will be different. I'm being shown clips that say and show that things will be different this time. But I'm just tapped out myself. The nail in the coffin was Deadpool 3. Another hot take but I didn't like the movie. Did like it when I initially watched it but with the benefit of hindsight my opinion changed pretty quickly and it's made me realize I'm never the greatest person for initial thoughts. Give it a few seconds or a day and the realization will hit. It's why I'm more torn about choosing to watch Daredevil Born again to be met with once again the thought that this is just an abusive relationship at this point. I don't know. Maybe I'll be convinced
@ you’re pretty brave for criticising deadpool and wolverine haha. Don’t let the MCU fanboys hear that lol. But yeah the movie is overrated imo. It’s not bad at least in my opinion but I would’ve been WAY more invested in the story with the TVA recruiting deadpool and wolverine like what happened in the movie if ya know…the saga made sense and had actual purpose and a cohesive narrative! Like keeping Kang for example. And In case you weren’t aware, what made me still somewhat interested in this saga was its less albeit somewhat coherent story building up to Kang vs the avengers in secret wars etc and the multiverse wars etc. He Who Remains (or Kang’s variant) at the end of Loki season 2, explains to Loki that his variants are “already out there” after Slyvie killed him at the end of Season 1 and He Who Remains deliberately paved the way for Loki to replace him at the end of time and take his throne (more context to that but he basically gave Loki no choice but to make a sacrifice at the end of season 2) Loki was one of the best post endgame projects easily carrying the main story that despite how many weak projects still had a goal in mind but it’s now pointless. Why? Because Avengers Doomsday makes no sense. To me at least. It’s like removing Thanos halfway before phase 3 and replacing him with a new villain. And RDJ, I love the guy but come on man…what a disservice to both Kang Dynasty and the character of Doctor Doom. So if you ask me, I agree that 2024 was the nail in the coffin as well. I liked deadpool and wolverine but definitely didn’t love it (Shang-Chi, Spider-Man NWH and GOTG3 were better movies by far) this imo could’ve been avoided had they just stuck to continuity better and my hype right now would’ve skyrocketed. Because I won’t lie, Daredevil looks really good. But I’m so tempted to quit after it.
It’s a a breath of fresh air when he talks about something else other then DC. Imagine when he talks about anime or avatar or legend of Korra, or old cartoons from the 2000s
Loved spending years watching characters in Marvel projects ask “Who bought Avengers tower?” or “When will the new Avengers assemble?” only to get 🤷♂️. It goes to show that Marvel didn’t really have a solid plan (many factors to that but even the original plan was kind of stringed together too) Don’t get me wrong, it was nice separating everything for a while after Endgame but never having these new characters work together ever really did make it feel like a waste of time, especially with the Marvel Shows’ infamous final episodes ☠️.
The biggest problem with the Multiverse Saga for me is the writing. I wouldn’t mind the disconnectedness as much if the writing was solid, but unfortunately the writing has more often than not been pretty terrible. Hopefully Marvel is now hiring experienced writers instead of Rick and Morty writers and people who’ve made indie films no one has ever heard of. Glad they got the Russos and McFeely back, it gives me hope.
People just complaining these movies will make two billion each regardless. All of you will be there opening night when RDJ gives a stellar performance as Dr Doom😂
Downey junior Doom is just a dumb and desperate stunt casting. We may never get good Dr Doom on live action. He was the only character I looked forward to see in MCU. Also I dont care about Russo's style of film making. I wish the films looked way better and had some style.
Cap coming back in Doomsday can work without undermining his send off. Notice how the shield he gives Sam at the end of endgame is a little different? We could theorize that Old Cap has already lived through the events of doomsday or secret wars, leading the charge with his “new” shield, and then returning back in time to pass it off to Sam.
The main problem was they didnt made us connect with the heros. In infinity saga, the big three had atleast 2-3 individual films + avengers roles. Audiences had a habit of seeing them and developed a connection between them. The same didnt happen in phase 4.
The MCU has a lot of watered down characters and storylines. It’s not just the Avengers. Let’s take Civil War for example. In the comics, Civil War was massive war with way more heroes that affected the public. It had way more stakes and consequences with one of the heroes dying in the middle of the conflict. The comic book civil war is way longer storyline that it could be a two parter movie series in live action. Where we see the two sides of the war escalating from friends, escalating into rivals escalating into bitter enemies. As the morality on both sides of become skewed as each side becomes desperate to get the upper hand.
The problem is that the MCU is repeating the exact same problems that the DCEU did and led to its downfall; and that's probably why we won't see Doomsday to fruition. -They're rushing in the big baddie epic fight just like you have Doomsday kill Superman in his second appearance. Remember all the films that were necessary to introduce Thanos and the Infinity Stones? You cannot repeat that same level of consistency, world-building and audience investment in just 3 years. -They care more about cameos and shocking post-credits scenes rather than actually implementing them into the movies like they were supposed to. Mordo becoming Dr. Strange's nemesis? Oh yeah, that happened off-screen. Tom Hardy's Venom making it into earth 616? Oh yeah, he gets sent back and nothing came out of that. Having Blade appear at the post-credits scene for the eternals? Oh yeah, we cancelled that. Scorpion recruiting Vulture into the sinister 6? Yeah, never happened. Beast and the X-Men appearing at the end credits for the marvels? Yeah, that's not going to go anywhere. It's more of putting little snippets and cameos because "Oh, this could happen! Most likely no because we're sailing a ship with no captain, but it COULD happen!" -The SFX. Never would've I believed that Marvel would have its SFX downgrade down to DCEU-levels of horrible. Part of why I didn't like Moonknight is because instead of focusing on the story and the characters, I was so confused looking at the horribly placed visuals. Same goes for Thor L&T and She-Hulk (although in She-Hulk, it was the cancerous "comedy" and sexism that took the toll.) Those mistakes were enough, but if that wasn't enough, Marvel thought it could cement it even further: -The cringing, dying comedy. Yes, it was awesome when they finally brought Spiderman and his smart-mouth into the MCU and ranked up the comedy. Problem is that being a smart-mouth is Spiderman's character, not everyone else's. So how do we keep the movies upbeat and funny? Well, let's make everyone as Spiderman, cracking jokes in life-threatening situations. Isn't that funny? Why aren't you laughing? -No one cares about the characters. The reason I was invested into Endgame was because I saw the main team go through hard-times, know them and see them overcome their problems. But with the new Avengers? We got Kamala Khan who... exists, I guess. There's also Shang Chi who was... Ok. I mean, I only saw one movie but yeah, cool. And there's also... Captain America Wilson. I did care about him but after that disastrous ending to TFATWS, I can't take his character seriously anymore. He's probably going to stand to Doom and say "Hey man, are you being bad? Then just stop it." -Disney+ and the enormous amount of content you have to watch to keep up to date is ridiculous. As a comic reader, I always understood that having to read previous material in order to understand certain issues or tomes was something that always turned away new readers. It was difficult enough to have to watch a movie marathon to catch up to Endgame, but now you have to watch an additional 10 shows which you have to pay a streaming service (which they're already expensive enough as they are) and have the free time to watch through them just so you can understand what is going on in the new movies. -Marvel can't be trusted anymore. Happened with Inhumans (a terrible shame), happened with Armor Wars, happened with Kang Dynasty and probably will happen with Doomsday. Why should I get excited about a project that has a probability of 50% of getting cancelled?
Looking at the whole of the MCU continuity, the build-up from Phase 1 to Phase 3 was remarkable. Sure, there were flaws (no project is perfect), but it all had cohesion. The movies managed to tell individual stories while contributing to a grand, overarching narrative that culminated beautifully in Endgame. However, projects after that seem to lack the same sense of direction and focus needed to create a cohesive, larger story like before. What's surprising is that they could have followed a similar formula. Instead of the universal threat of Thanos (since he's gone... for now), they could have shifted the focus to a multiversal threat, such as the Incursions. This would make sense if the ultimate goal is building up to Secret Wars-which seems to be influenced by Jonathan Hickman's storyline, a good source of inspiration. If Secret Wars is the goal, the movies and shows could work toward it by introducing new heroes we care about, establishing compelling villains (or multiple antagonists), and eventually leading to a climactic reset. This reset could usher in a new Marvel Universe with exciting possibilities: a fresh Avengers team, the X-Men taking center stage, a more mature Spider-Man who perhaps has Parker Industries and is married, the Fantastic Four, and more. The potential here is vast, and it could reinvigorate the MCU with fresh ideas and dynamics while honoring the legacy it has built so far.
I think that fandom-at-large has started overstating the planning and continuity of Phases 1 and 2. There was a lot of flailing around, pivoting, and just making things up as they went along. (Like how Civil War was only about Cap and Iron Man fighting so Marvel could stomp on the hype of Batman vs Superman.) The difference is that back then the movies themselves were pretty good, and the writers were generally clever about how they picked up and developed potential plot threads from one movie to the next. Nowadays, the movies generally aren't as good, the writers are clumsy or downright contradictory when they try to continue plot threads, and there just isn't much that fans actually want to see continued. Case in point, most of us are more interested in what will be done with Dr. Doom (a character who hasn't even been in a movie yet) than we are about any of the recently-introduced heroes that he will be fighting.
I think they need to drop some _Sexy_ back in there. You can really feel the Disney within these movies that they've kind of lost their bite. It's strange because you often need sexy & danger whenever you're leaning towards progressive ideas. It just doesn't work to call for change, but then forget to make it look appealing. It's weird to be all conservative with looks, attire, and speech but at the same time to call for a change. I'm all down for the MCU and Marvel in general... but I think someone needs to take them outside and tell them _"It's ok, for sexy to be a thing"_ and that's about it. Oh wait... they really need writers who *understand* the material. Say what you want about X-Men 97, but you felt the writers knew the characters even if those characters weren't doing what you wanted them to, it made it make sense.
I agree a smaller Avengers movie was NEEDED to establish the new team. We all know they are gonna lose in Doomsday. So u bring in your new team only for them to lose right away? Sigghhh Secret Invasion should have been an Avengers movie where the new Avengers: Wong Shang Chi Sam new Falcon Cap Marvel Strange War Machine Ant man Wasp with assistance from Hulk, Thor, Spiderman, Shuri, Okoye and MBaku take on an Army of Skrulls with the Super Skrull being the final boss they face
Was watching a video breaking down what the script of Kang Dynasty looked like and it was pretty bad considering they pretty much wanted to do infinity war 2 electric boogaloo. All of the marvel characters they’ve set up haven’t even shared a glance at each other onscreen and they want to throw them together in another giant cinematic event. They should’ve recast kang and focused on setting up young avengers, new avengers, midnight suns, defenders, etc. in their own contained movies rather than try to do all of those and infinity war at the same time. I worry that Doomsday is gonna have all the kangs get obliterated at once by base Doom in the first 5 minutes and everyone just glosses over that kang was even important in the first place.
It's over for the MCU. With James Gunn's DCU around the corner, Doomsday and Secret Wars will be their last chance to get back on top but I doubt it. Hoping I'm wrong though but they've made way too many mistakes leading up to phase 6
You are 💯 right on everything you said. For a while, I’ve felt like the MCU is just all over the place. It doesn’t feel connected nor does it feel like any of the movies are leading up to anything. By the time the new Avengers movie comes out, it would have been 5 years removed from SpiderMan and Shung-Chi, and four years from Dr. Strange. And I’m not sure how the Captain America movie will tie into the Avenger’s film.
I really don't think the current lineup of heroes has that chemistry potential the original 6 Avengers had. I'm not even a big Young Avengers fan, but even in the comics, they have a better setup to be a closely-knit team than their MCU counterparts.
Calling it now: Hayley Atwell will be playing Captain Carter and Chris Evans will be playing Captain America and passing the shield officially on to her.
Im hoping if Brave New World does well, Anthony Mackie will get what he deserved as lead of new avengers, him, doctor strange, star lord, captain marvel, thor and some other folks would be cool
The Marvel Cinematic Universe started with no direction. Now Disney Marvel hav written themselves into a corner with storylines & actors playing certain characters
They did not have a complete blueprint like phase 1. They actually focuses more on quality than quantity. But after endgame they just went with the flow mindlessly. Now it all quantity and lesser quality
Well, WHAT Avengers? We have the Thunderbolts, the closest we’ve had to anything similar to the Avengers, but that’s it. Phase 4 was cool, but not cool enough to keep even me invested, a die-hard MCU fan.
most likely he won't because apparently Reed's relationship with Doom in Doomsday will be similar to Tony's with Thanos in Infinity War...which is a terrible fucking idea and concept
I feel like the way Marvel handled has handled the mcu post Endgame has been terrible. Marvel should have Doctor Strange, Thor and Wanda as the big 3 going into Avengers 5.
We barely have an Avengers team heading into the next two movies which makes it feel less like we’re following a team on a new adventure and more like seeing some familiar faces team up for a big fight which is almost an issue with Avengers Infinity War but both it and Endgame that an actual Avengers team that we’re continuing to follow as opposed to some we may or may not be invested in after these last five years of highs and lows
Bro, they refusing to recast Majors after they fired him and reaching deep into their arses to make Doom a hasty Kang replacement is already Marvel loosing the plot regardless of the casting, because Doom is not a spare tyre you pull out to replace a broken one (which wasn't even broken, the character itself was okay). Doom is a main course you prepare for in advance. But then to not only do that, use Doom as a fucking emergency patch to fix a kang sized hole, they get RD Jr to play him? Now that is actual insanity, any marbles Marvel had were lost completely.
If they bring in new characters they could do with she hulk what they did with Andrew Garfield's spiderman and give her a redemption story. Let her have her obnoxious personality at the start and when a big threat appears she fights alongside other more experienced characters and absolutely sucks at it. That could be the catalyst that humbles her and leads to the growth in her personality. I think that could be the way to save the absolute flop that was her series
If you check the interviews of most of the writing teams for the Marvel movies, most of them explain they're not familiar with the source material and were instructed to stay that way. The lack of passion and care for Marvel's legacy really shows and it's why I haven't cared much for the MCU for quite some time.
I feel like half the budget is already gone for the actors and directors. If they say 300 mil production cost, I wouldn't be surprised. I dont care for who plays doctor doom, hes known for always wearing a mask. But its fine, lower hopes anyway, so can't get any worse than the drab of the past years.
How can they ruin the avengers when they aren't any Avengers. Seriously, almost none of these characters know each other
Creo que la idea es que perdieran por tratarse de unos completos extraños en vez de un equipo
technically there were no avengers since civil war
The fact that we didnt really get to know the avengers is crazy. Because when you read the comics or watch the animated series that’s so much info. They can not compete with the comic version of all the different avengers teams.
And yet here we are: the team ruined, with an upcoming movie with no buildup against cameos.
“Avengers” in a movie title just means Marvel Universe Team-Up now lol
The Multiverse Saga will be remembered as that failed experiment when Marvel Studios tried to copy the mistake of the comics that was All-New All-Different and somehow thought it would work.
They were so arrogant thinking they could adapt failed comics into movies and people would like them. There’s decades of stories they glossed over just so we could get Ironheart of all characters…smh.
At least All-New All-Different had secret empire, which felt like a good conclusion

They know eachother sooo well in the what if...? show it seems. Why couldn't we get that family bond dynamic in the movies? smh
Thats FF.
I always got the family vibe from the ff more than avengers

The idea of RDJ's Doom searching the multiverse for evil versions of the 616 Avengers is literally fanfiction, but it won't surprise me if Marvel Studios actually goes through with it. It just really spits on the concept of RDJ playing Doom because if summoning the multiversal Masters Of Evil really is his plan at least for Avengers Doomsday, he might as well be playing Superior Iron Man.

I dont watch a popcorn action movie for those things either, I watch it for the action, plot is secondary. And so on.

If the movie was a 6 hour series or a 3 hour movie it'd probably overstay its welcome because all it has to offer is popcorn action
You've yet to pitch any kind of idea for what happens. You're only contribution is "nothing matters so do it".. I'm sorry I'm only more convinced that there's not enough here for a full series

No they should reboot
Spider-Man shouldn't be an Avenger, his stories work better as a street hero. Doctor Strange as the leader is great.

Basically disbanding the team after age of Ultron was a mistake. We needed a couple movies with the core roster together
The MCU would be in a much better place if they had an Avengers movie to either end phase 4 or open phase 5.

10:24 that’s actually wild to think about. Like how is Captain Carter more important than Captain America?
I kinda hate how marvel can’t re cast black panther. Fans can’t ever actually move on from previous great actors and will always shit on the newer ones. Especially if the older one died. It’s one decision marvel made that I won’t just shit on cause it makes since why they did it.
People didn’t want Superman recast in the new universe and Cavill is still alive and well
Perfectly said
I honestly dont understand why American studios just never want to copy the source material.
Honestly, bucky should have been cap.
2:02 Assuming they're continuing adapting the All New All Different story, this might be Hydra Captain America.
We should have saw the avengers reassemble before any Disney plus show or even after the eternals
I’m not gonna lie I don’t even think these new avengers gonna be the main characters, the old fox characters and Netflix cast gonna overshadow them
Marvel really dropped the ball by tearing down what was once an incredible cinematic universe, all to replace beloved characters with half-baked, "modern" comic characters that never worked in the first place.
MCU needs a reboot
They did a huge mistake giving Cap that ending in Endgame imagine Cap 4 with Steve as his last movie
The Avengers were finished at end game. There is no Avengers
Marvel made their fans fall in love with their actors not their characters DC on the other hand is the complete opposite
Marvel’s first family and Superman being released weeks apart seems like a golden reset for both studios.
They really should have made a New Avengers tetralogy rather than trying to surpass Endgame right off the bat.
It would've given a much needed time to get used to a new lineup and expanding on them naturally instead of...whatever they are trying to do now.
Marvel Rivals revived my love for Marvel
a free game understands the comic characters more than the movie writers
@ insane but true lol
Marvel Rivals is saving Marvel right now. The MCU later phases were bad. Secret Invasion with Nick Fury was MID!!!
Marvel Rivals is Soundwave with Marvel right now
It's Superior
@ yes
Sometimes I wish Paramount bought back Marvel. Marvel under them was so much better than what Disney is doing with the product now.
Superhero fatigue as well. After being obsessed with comic book movies for years, it has gotten old.
New Avengers: surrender doom, you have no chance aga-
*All the new Avengers get vaporized, leaving charred marks where they used to stand*
Doom: Doom is bored
It goes to show that Marvel didn’t really have a solid plan (many factors to that but even the original plan was kind of stringed together too)
Don’t get me wrong, it was nice separating everything for a while after Endgame but never having these new characters work together ever really did make it feel like a waste of time, especially with the Marvel Shows’ infamous final episodes ☠️.
Secret Invasion should have been the Avengers film where we got to warm up to this new team before Doomsday/Secret Invasion.
This is genuinely amazing, keep up the great work. Can’t wait to see more🔥
The MCU has a lot of watered down characters and storylines.
If you put it like that, they are bound to fail...cameos can't get people to get hooked up on Capitan Marvel, Ms Marvel, Eternals, etc
Most likely no because we're sailing a ship with no captain, but it COULD happen!"
-The SFX. Never would've I believed that Marvel would have its SFX downgrade down to DCEU-levels of horrible. Part of why I didn't like Moonknight is because instead of focusing on the story and the characters, I was so confused looking at the horribly placed visuals. Same goes for Thor L&T and She-Hulk (although in She-Hulk, it was the cancerous "comedy" and sexism that took the toll.)
Those mistakes were enough, but if that wasn't enough, Marvel thought it could cement it even further:
-The cringing, dying comedy.
Then just stop it."
-Disney+ and the enormous amount of content you have to watch to keep up to date is ridiculous.
Sigghhh Secret Invasion should have been an Avengers movie where the new Avengers:
Wong
Shang Chi
Sam
new Falcon
Cap Marvel
Strange
War Machine
Ant man
Wasp
with assistance from Hulk, Thor, Spiderman, Shuri, Okoye and MBaku
take on an Army of Skrulls with the Super Skrull being the final boss they face
Picturing Daredevil giving Doom the beats in a hallway is hilarious 😂
Now they saying Doctor Strange isn’t going to be in Doomsday. Marvel is cooked😭🙏🏿
I really don't think the current lineup of heroes has that chemistry potential the original 6 Avengers had. I'm not even a big Young Avengers fan, but even in the comics, they have a better setup to be a closely-knit team than their MCU counterparts.
i can already tell how they’re all going to be written. all these young characters act the exact same i swear
Bro have you played marvel rivals? It’s amazing I want nightcrawler in it so bad
Calling it now: Hayley Atwell will be playing Captain Carter and Chris Evans will be playing Captain America and passing the shield officially on to her.
Low key Marvels Rivals is doing a lot of heavy lifting RN keeping people interested in Marvel who normally wouldn’t be.
If Dr Doom didn't appear in the F4, it will be one of the biggest L in MCU history
most likely he won't because apparently Reed's relationship with Doom in Doomsday will be similar to Tony's with Thanos in Infinity War...which is a terrible fucking idea and concept
@file_boi020apparently who?
I feel like the way Marvel handled has handled the mcu post Endgame has been terrible. Marvel should have Doctor Strange, Thor and Wanda as the big 3 going into Avengers 5.
They should've had a Avengers flim by now. We don't even have a established team
They really rushed ish and now it’s showing I would’ve went into new avengers storyline and then made the secret invasion the rest of phase 4
The Avengers ended with Endgame. To me they haven't ruined the avengers, they've ruined everything else.
