- OH MY CHRIST! This week Rob is joined by the wonderful Alison Steadman, aka Gavin’s doting mum Pamela in Gavin & Stacey. Alison describes the moment she received the script for Pam’s first scene and how she knew instantly that she wanted to play the role. Rob and Alison then discuss meeting the rest of the cast and the anticipation that came with getting back into character for the big Christmas Special in 2019. Alison also talks about her love of improvisation and gives us her some of her favourite roles in her career so far, including roles in Abigail’s Party, Nuts in May and News Hounds.

Rob seems to become so much more like Bryn when talking to Alison, like he just cant contain it😂
Someone please put this man and Hugh Grant in a film together as long-lost relatives. It’d be brilliant.
That would be immense
What a brilliant suggestion.
Have you seen him in Episode 1 of Human Remains, he is so much like Hugh in that, right down to the accent :)
@@angelkotilainen I haven’t no, I’m yet to see that…looking forward to it though!
Oh my Christ! What an episode
Alison was such a great Mrs. Bennett in the 1995 miniseries! She must have been a baby when she played that part!! Love her in everything! Thanks for this episode, Rob!!
If you want to see ‘baby’ Alison, you need to watch her in her greatest role, Candice Marie in ‘Nuts in May’. She is a genius. That’s all.
I'm loving the "Brydon&" series! The most watchable thing on RUclips: pleasant, entertaining, funny, nice stories, interesting people, perfect length to sit down and enjoy, but also easily paused and picked up again. Loving it. Such a great host, such great friendly guests.
Just when you thought these chats couldn't get better, he has Alison Steadman as his guest!! I love everything she is in, an amazing actress! One of my favourites was 'Life is sweet' - funny but so poignant.. Thank you both Rob and Alison for this episode.
I love when she was Jennifer Saunders's nemesis in the bawdy 18th-century France sitcom "Let Them Eat Cake" 😂
I love Alison steadman in everything she has ever done
She's a national treasure, or she should be. Absolutely brilliant in everything I've seen her in, and seems like such a lovely person too
I was staying in the hotel when you were filming the wedding & I had to stand outside the entrance in the pouring rain whilst the scene was finished! I was also having dinner in the restaurant whilst you were filming your scene outside. I remember asking the staff what was being filmed, never did I imagine it would be a series I’d fall in love with!
LOVED GAVIN AND STACEY. BRILLANT ACTORS AND ACTRESSES . CLASSIC
WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING?
Brilliant. I was around 11 years old when I first saw Nuts In May and it’s still hilariously awkward 😂
I've just got back from Corfe Castle!
I remember watching Nuts in May at the time and thinking omg this is the most insane thing I’ve ever seen. I watched it recently and it made me feel rather uncomfortable , it was an absolute classic . Kiss Prudence!
That was great to watch. I loved her as Mrs Bennet in Pride and Prejudice.
Wonderful, Rob, always a joy. Thank you! And please thank Alison too -- one of my absolute favourite actresses.
As an American, I am enjoying the Britishness of this interview!! Or should I say the Welshness of it!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Love Rob Brydon!!!! And love Gavin and Stacey!!!
A terrific actress, and a delightful woman.
Alison Steadman..Mrs. Bennett to me!
Yeah she was absolutely brilliant
Holy fuck... this has changed everything to discover this
Sarah's grandma, from 'Orphan Black'!
I was hoping she'd say that as one of her top 5. But he only let her say three 🤣
I literally recommended this guest LAST WEEK! Thanks, Rob.
These mini interviews are fantastic. Thanks Bryn, keep them going!!
What a pleasure to watch. So sweet and so warm. I will be binging these interviews I think.
Lovely. Thank you both very much. ❤️
Luckily I have nothing else to do today...will now binge-watch these!!! Thanks so much Rob!!
Great show! I’ve got a warm fuzzy feeling like I’ve just been hugged. Thank you.
Life Is Sweet was my first exposure to Alison Steadman. What a great performance that was.
I’ve never seen or known anything about Gavin and Stacey but after several of these talks I feel like knowing those actors and I wish I could view these series somewhere! Such a great range of relaxed and comfy get-togethers with ‘old’ friends.
So lovely. Thank you.
Best yet! Fantastic.
Lovely! Now I’m rewatching G&S.
I would love Rob to interview the wonderful Julia Davis!
This is so good to see. Alison in Nuts In May... Oh my god, I've lost count of how many times I've watched it!
Yay uncle Bryn & Pam! Galvin & Stacey continues to be my favourite TV series.
Brilliant absolutely brilliant, totally true about Robins one flew into my van once and perched on the headrest and I said you've got to go little one I'm driving off now and it just looked at me as if I should know it like a long lost ancestor,,, wouldn't leave, two minutes later gone,,, my name is robin so I've often wondered if they somehow know,,❤️👍
I love them so much!!
Oh my Christ that was brilliant!!
Life is Sweet has been the best movie I've seen this year by far! She's amazing in it.
Nuts in May was an unexpected pleasure to watch. What an actress.
I love Alison so much! Hahaha, the frozen screen bit!
This has really brightened up my morning.I live in Dorset, I wonder where Alison Steadman is ? Thanks Pam & Uncle Bryn, you're amazing ! xxx
omg omg omg that was AMAZIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lOVE YOU LOVE YOU LOVE YOU
Loved this !!
NUTS IN MAY is incredible - love it!
She was fantastic in the mike leigh's "life is sweet."
Touch elbows innit, uncle Bryn, not shoulders! She is lovely isn’t she, and so talented. Love her.
Brill as ever!
Pleeeease let's have Alison back ☺☺☺
Ah that was gorgeous 😁
Great episode, thank you.
Leslie The Bird Nerd
A very enjoyable Canadian channel.
YES! Robins are well confident now, they come really close.....
Needed this rob 👍
Yes!!!
Lol 😂 my mam also thinks robins are ancestors who have passed. All things (everything) has its own consciousness so this is totally possible! Great channel; I’ve just found it and I’m binge watching all episodes now xx
Robins are known as the gardeners' friends.
They always hang around in case you rattle leaves (which gives them the opportunity to search for insects) or give them something to eat.
Very precious little birds but very protective of their territory.
Robins are a threat to our national security. It’s been confirmed by some of our leading scientists. I hate those pesky flying rodents. They absolutely stink of shit too.
I really enjoyed her as Mrs. Naughtie in "You'll Have Had Your Tea - The Doings of Hamish and Dougal". Her Scottish accent is brilliant.
Fabulous actress!
Robs soooo showbiz....massive luvvie
Legend!
14:03 So who is the handsome Welsh rugby player who got Alison Steadman so steamed up?
Mike Phillips. Had to look because I knew someone would be asking. He is distressingly handsome, isn't he?
Fabulous...
Cracking volavaunts Pam
Loved Alison in P and P
Excellent. Thanks.
Who’s ready for Brydon and James corden next
I hope not. I hate that man
Bryn Diesel and Three Steaks Pam
Bryn and chips
Far too short, an absolute icon
Now there's no way to talk about Rob then!
She is delightful. So are birds. I'm a huge bird nerd. I volunteered in wildlife rescue for 5 years in California and my love of birds was born. Besides, anyone who loved dinosaurs as a kid should love birds as an adult.
We need more interviews like this so happy xx
Brilliant! Can you please do one with Reginald D Hunter? 🙏
Rob!... ahem, I mean Mr. Brydon. You should do a competition with your viewers with an autographed item or picture as a prize. 🤔💡😁
Beyond hysterical.
Rob you are a clever clogs. Thank goodness you do not have grumpy Coogan.
Australia 1.52am
I loved Gavin and Stacey. You just killed me as Uncle Brynn. Wondering what else you’ve been in.
i thought life is sweet was just a brilliant film and performance, also i loved champions where she played bob champions sister to john hurt.
Alison, would you please tell me the pattern of your blouse? I'm dying to have curtains made out of it. As opposed to having clothing made out of curtains. Ha! Seriously I'm in love with that pattern and I can only hope I look as good as you do next year. Heart you!
Definitely notice personalities in birds. Even individuals of the same species.
Ooh, that's weird. When I see a robin I think "Is that my Dad saying hello?"
For me, it was my gran... (Damned, confident robins.)
PAMELA!
I miss Uncle Bryn and Pamala......
Just now finding out Alison Steadman's partner of almost 30 years, is Welsh.
Which makes all those times when Pam would go on about detesting Wales even funnier.
i just want someone to talk to alison steadman about orphan black because omg
Polly Aconley that’s what I was thinking
Hiya !
I would love Ruth Jones to bring Stella back so Alison steadman could become a new character ❤
You know you got to have bream you know you just gotta have that bream
Some people in Ireland believe that robins are deceased family and friends coming back to visit 😅
Beverley is number one - everything else follows.
From where came the hair?
I don't know if anyone else is aware but Rob Brydon was in Gavin and Stacey. He doesn't like to mention it.
What about Alison's other two favourites...
now i get why batman junior is called robin... it is the fucking attitude and confidence... i used to think why is the guy named after a bird?
BHAHAHA this was an thing I saw 👍🏻👍🏼👍🏽👍🏾👍🏿🤍🔆🖤
Pride and prejudice. She made it…..😂
I would love for Rob to phone me up and talk to me....
When Dawn called Pete a “pre-op.” 💀
Does Mr. Brydon iron his own shirts or pay someone to do it?
Rob cannot tell his shoulder from his elbow...
Loved this!
