If the zero key isnt working for you, you have to start the pc; when on te login screen, hold shift, go to the power button at the botom right and click restart.

Anyway, i did this once but it doesn't work. It brings me to the welcome screen and of course, to my normal desktop screen. You have to go to settings and go to windows update and choose recovery. That way, you will be able to choose the option to reset to factory settings. Did you try the same method that i did?
after I hit trouble shoot & reset, it says "insert your windows installation or recovery media to continue" but I don't have any of that and I just want to wipe the whole thing what do I do??

It doesn't come up with "The hard drive recovery process has been selected" It just comes up with a menu to select the operating system and then when I select Windows 7 it just boots and requires a password. I have been asked to wipe the drive as my friend doesn't have the password and he wants it back to factory settings.
Mine is also Toshiba. Unfortuntely, the model is C50-A482 with windows 8.1 but was upgraded to windows 10 after my windows 8.1 was blocked with a passcode.

i clicked yes and it went to a black-ish screen. it pops up a window but doesn't load and it shuts rigth off. any solutions for that?
