Thanks a lot! I inherited a Toshiba Satellite L850 and put Linux on it. It would start up just with the lights on the front but not boot with the old battery in and would require me to turn off the laptop then turn it on again, which worked. So, I take the old battery out and hold down the power button for one minute and then plug the power back in without the battery inserted and it starts fine. So, quite likely the old battery problem.

I know this is from last year but how do you power on a toshiba satilite laptop the only cord I have is a 16 V and it plugs into it just fine but idk where to find a 19 V power cord for it
If it require 19V then a 16V power probably isn't enough power to get it running. You will most likely need to order a new power cord. You can get them on Ebay for a reasonable price. You can look it up by your make and model just make sure the volts and amps are correct. Ebay is notorious for selling power cords that are not exactly the voltage for your computer.

If you find it works without the battery installed but doesn't work with it installed then you need to replace the battery. You can use your computer without a battery but obviously doesn't work as well. Happy you were able to troubleshoot it!! nice work:)
I enabled the eco utilty.all power was used and laptop switched off. Now I can't power it. I have done all that you have advised. What else can I do? My laptop was working perfectly
You could try a BIOS reset. It resets the computers base system and can sometimes revive a dead computer. Here is a link on how to that:

@@EggheadFixers it's completely dead. Not even a single light. When I plug in the charger, I usually see a light shows that my laptop is charging. Even if it's zero battery it shows a white light means it needs to be charged. Right now it shows no light at all. Literally nothing.

Thanks for the video. I am having a different issue. I press the power button, the Tosh8ba logo appears and the spinning icon displays. The screen changes a little (logo goes away mainly) and the spinning icon is still spinning. But it never boots past this. Just soons and spins. Any thoughts?
Does it ever boot all the way to Windows? Or is that as far as it gets?

I have a P875 I was curious how many slots for ram? Is there any slots underneath the keyboard because the Ram slots on the bottom have no ram at all. Maybe this is why i see a black Screen?
From what I can see the RAM slots on this computer are on the top of the motherboard and not on the bottom.
@@EggheadFixers Well when I turn it over I see two slots for RAM I was trying to save myself the trouble cracking it open to see I have the toshiba satellite p875-s7310

I have a Toshiba that won't boot. black screen after f2 and h12 show. I created a usb windows 10 boot drive and it won't boot from that after entering boot setup. i tried this in 3 of the usb plug ins. Any thoughts?

You may have internal battery which means you would need to look up a teardown video for you computer so you can see how to get inside your laptop.:/
Well than open it up if you are brave enough and disconnect the battery. That's what I did

I did all that but still my Toshiba satellite skullcandy wont turn on ,,,what it does is when I plug it ,it charges the battery but when I tried to turn it on it turns on and after a second or two it turns of again ,,mine has internal battery so I opened it need help thanks
Sorry to hear that:( If you have an internal battery then it's the same method you just have to get inside. If you are having trouble getting inside your laptop then you can look up a disassembly by the model number. The model number is usually located on the bottom of the computer. It's never ideal to force a shut down but sometimes you have to it. If it freezes up and you have no other options then go ahead and shut it down.
