That's a smooth running engine
the wonderful thing with this engine is that jeep could go 4 valves per cylinder
Thats one smooth running engine. Thank you to the owner for letting us see it running after having watched all the episodes of restoring the engine.
I’m pretty sure they never ran that smoothly out of the factory. Great work 👍🏽
That's a dang smooth running engine 🎉
Love it when the 'cleaning guy' gets in the groove as he blows apart an engine! He is a machine(ist!)!!
The cleaning guy's explanation of what he's doing, why, and sharing tips/tricks is all the music I need.
WOW, that engine is running smooth as silk and that is history being restored. Thanks so much for taking us along for this one and for showing us the final result. Awesome.
The cleaning guy did an amazing job on this!!! So nice to see her running good as new at a young 60+ years old!
Wow guys! It's like icing on the cake to see this engine actually running in the vehicle! Thanks SO much for taking the trouble to do this for me I'm so pleased & proud of you; especially you Jim as you did all the work on it!
I've watched all the videos you made on this engine, & followed along. It felt like I was standing right beside you the whole time, as you progressed through the work, & overcame problems, & verified & measured eveything at each stage. The love, attention to detail, & the extra effort you put in to getting the most precise specs was just spine tingling!
If there was ever gonna be a 1951 Willys Jeep racing car engine Jim, you just built one! Not that you'd ever wanna subject such a lovely old workhorse engine such as this to such abuse of course! That would be a very undignified way to treat such a perfect 73 year old!
It's out of your hands of course, buy the only thing left youse could have done was to get the owner's opinion on how the engine performs & sounds etc, but I'm sure you would have asked him anyway. Never mind!
I bet it runs like silk now, even smoother than when it was brand new! I just hope the owner realises what a gem he now has under the bonnet of this pickup! I also hope he watches all the videos in this series, & even keeps a copy of them for himself. The videos, to my mind, are now an important part of the history of this vehicle, & should be kept with it, like the service logbook!
Anyway guys, thanks again for this EPIC series; up there with my favourites of all time, if not THE favourite! - & I subscribe to nearly 50 channels!
30:54 not ONLY jogging your old memories, but making NEW memories.
I bought a '52 Willy's pick up from my maternal Grandfather for $357 when I was 14, I'm 51 now.
My Dad and I rebuilt the engine, put a 100 Amp chrome semi truck alternator on it, converted it to 12V, put electric wiper motors in it, new clutch and Honda bucket seats.
Later I stripped 2nd. gear off of the cluster gear in the T-90 trans. so we rebuilt the transmission.
I had to sell it in college but bought it back, in disrepair, about 25 years ago.
This summer my son and I are putting it back on the road.
4 wheel disc brakes and master cylinder with all new brake lines and Toyota Landcruiser starter.
If the engine doesn't come around we're putting an all aluminum Buck 215 V-8 in it.
Going from one Father & Son build to another.😊
Interesting story on the Jeep engine upgrades. I purchased a new 1962 Buick Special when it came out with the.215 aluminum engine. It’s not “all aluminum” since it has iron cylinder liners. Note of caution. Plain water in the radiator will ruin that engine. Use only 50/50 antifreeze mixture. I knew better and got good service but a lot of people didn’t. Live and learn.
The Cleaning Guy is a true star,, 👍🌟👍
Absolutely loved your dad's work especially sharing his secret sauce gained over a lifetime.
Also the engine installation was top notch with the jubilee clips/worm drive clips nicely aligned ❤
I watched all of the restore videos of this engine. I'm very happy to see it running.
Thanks for this update. I watched the entire series machining the parts.
Nice to revisit that build ! The engine sure runs nice ! Thanks so much for sharing this !
Great job on that F-Head! The truck looks near exactly like the one my dad had when I was in high school. Including the white paint job over the original color. His was a ‘57 and had a 1960 283/4bbl swap by a previous owner. But we messed around with an F-Head powered (swapped) ‘43 Willys military Jeep a few years earlier, so this series conjures all sorts of memories!
That engine runs smoother than a sewing machine and it’s no wonder with the craftsmanship that went into the overhaul.
I swear that exhaust manifold is from a small block Chevy.
Totally approve of the Sioux valve resurface with collet chuck.
Those Jeep L and F head engines are very smooth in operation. None of the modern engines idle like them or even close. And the exhaust manifold is not from a SBC, it is unique to the Jeep F-134 engine.
JAMS,
Very nice to see a finished product running. Nice work from the janitor. Boe 👍👍
Outstanding job, salvaging that well-worn engine!
It looks and runs great!
That's some first rate machining. Thanks for letting us hear that old engine running like new.
It's ALWAYS NICE to see the end product of your work!
Love it. My first vehicle was 52 Willys PU with this engine.. Being a dumb kid, I blew that engine up. Put a 289 in, added a Studebaker overdrive and was a happy teenager!
Your Dad did a lovely job balancing that assembly! That´s how a proud mechanic looks: 11:46 Take a good look, kids and say: "I wanna be that!". Now: get out, seek for Grandpa´s old Caddie and make him smile.
No wonder that engine runs as smooth as it does. That much care and detail work they didn´t do when it was new- I´m shure.
I have to admit, I was irritated at first, I never saw an ioe engine before. I just would have liked You to rev it up once or twice. Thanks, Guys!
What a great old truck! You guys did a fantastic job on that engine.
4 pm in Sweden, after the sauna before dinner. It's the perfect time for some F-head nostalgia.
Music? Nerve-wracking!
I grew up in a 1950 2wd willys. This sure brings back some memories!
That's so awesome to follow the engine all through its journey and see it running! And hearing the story of the vehicle!
I am impressed. That is one smooth running engine. You guys do great work!
Love the follow up on this ‘ol F-Head. Hopefully she keeps running for a long time with this restoration done!
Glad you were able to show us this whole build and we could see it run. I really enjoyed this build!
Great people, wonderful family, top notch work, Awesome!
That is wonderful. It's a project that's (relatively) easy to get your arms around.
Great video. I watched the entire series of teardown and rebuild. Thanks again for taking the time to share this with us.
Really smooth running engine. You did good Jim
Watching the gifted cleaner guy do his thing never get's old. Excellent work as usual sir. (Paul, former underground miner from Northern Ontario Canada.)
Thanks for sharing that guys. JEEP came out great!
Dump the music.
It's a trend to add crap unnecessary .music to videos
Not a cleaning guy. A humble cleaning guy. Great work sir!
So cool to see it up and running in the vehicle. Y'all do some amazing work ❤❤
Excellent engineering and craftsmanship, I’m always learning a lot from your channel..!
I have really enjoyed the Willies Jeep rebuild. I real credit to the Cleaning Guy. The old model engines are very interesting, car or tractor. Thank you !!
What a sweetheart of a motor! Sounds GREAT!!!
Very good , Showing the complete machining and the block assembly, Now installed and Running.
Thank You For Your Respect.
The crankshaft balance episode was my favorite out of the series.
This is great , I was hoping you would be able to do a follow up on this one. This may be the smoothest running Jeep engine to ever exist. There is no way they built these to the tolerances you did originally. Great old trucks , one of my favorites.
Fantastic work! Runs like butter!
I liked the music and applaud the fabulous editing job. Super entertaining! Well Done. 👍
Love the follow up video. What a cool old truck. Engine runs, and sounds great. Great job everyone 👍🏼
Thank you for sharing the update on the Jeep truck it really runs well.
Great follow up video. Love watching your channel. Amazing father and son relationship.
Running very nicely. Great work as always.
So cool we got to see this one all the way to the end!
This is very cool to see it driving. Thank you
Man, I would love to spend a few days learning from the janitor. Nic, you won the lottery with having a knowledgeable old head like that to spend time with.
Thanks for sharing this project, truly enjoyed.
I'm so glad that engine turned out so well. There were some iffy times but your dad did a great job.
Superb job on this old F-head. I really enjoyed watching this rebuild. Thank you.
Nice ending to a great series thanks for sharing gentlemen. Love your work.
The Cleaning Guy is framing well at the job. I recommend he be made full partner in the business.
I really enjoy watching and learning about the rebuilding of vintage engines on this channel. Educational and downright fun. The thoroughness of the work is great. I especially noticed this with the Jeep engine, which must be the best rebuilt Jeep engine in the world. Since you ask for suggestions, I'd like to suggest a rebuild of Pontiac's OHC six from the 1970s. Never had one, but I always thought this engine was intriguing. Thanks for an educational channel.
Love the summary vid that was great; would appreciate turning the volume on the music bed alllll the way down to zero.
The music is distracting makes it hard to concentrate on what’s actually going on in the video. It’s very annoying when somebody’s trying to talk.
I doubt they even realized the music was on. Very irritating for sure.
Most of this video was a recap of previous videos. If you don’t like the music, go back and watch the longer videos that lead up to this one.
I thought the music was fine. The level was appropriate and didn’t block any of the audio, especially since there was nothing new when the music was playing.
The music is distracting
Why play music while he is talking?
You annoying… very annoying 🫵
Wow, sounds amazing.... Great work!! Great to see it in the truck!!
Nice job! In mid 60s my dad had a Jeep just like that. He built a 327ci chevy motor and installed it in place of the 4 cylinder Willis for snow plowing. There was an issue with the exhaust placement for the V8 so he ran dual stacks up the back side of the cab. I remember that it sounded like a beast.
That BEEEEP'ing rear seal cracked me up :). Love the videos
You guys did a nice job on that 1951 Willys Jeep Engine. It’s great to see and hear it running so well in the vehicle. If it were mine I would definitely take it a step further and have body work and new original color paint for that time machine.
Love the follow-up portion of this video
such a great video.. we finally get to see how it all ends. and the look on the broom guy is satisfying. Great series and hope you guys keep on making awesome vids like these.
A great montage and I love the music choice.
Willys pickup is my dream truck. I've wanted one since I was a kid.
I also hade a Courier once. Loved it.
Love this Video and the Process of the Rebuild!!! 👍🏽👍🏽😉
Excellent outcome great to see finish build thanks to owner to show it nice to see motor CLEANED UP by the "CLEANING GUY"
Thank you!
I'm impressed with your meticulous work, I watch all your videos from down under in Australia!!)) Keep up the good work!!))
jim you did a nice job on the engine, sounds great. the owner is making a cool looking truck. gota loveit
Brings back memories. We had one with a 6 cylinder. Can't remember the year. Nice to see one running and sounding good.We used the heck out of ours, hard.
Really like watching you guys work , all the way from Derby in the UK. Love it
Sounds Great! Yea, it would be nice to hear the engine run after they've been rebuilt. That would be hot
Nice to see the finished product!
Thanks for sharing this project
That engine sounds GREAT! The cleaning guy JAMS!
Nice to see a project finished.... good content and thanks....🔧🔧👍
YOU have made a great job of that engine . I hope the owners give that shell a great ain't and save it for the future people as well. Use it as desired naturally but giving the metal all the protection as is possible for longevity.😊 Very good professional rebuild.
Very nice! What a great project to be a part of. It might outlast all of us.
It's great to see this one through all the way to completion! I hop thhat old truck will see another 70 years on the road!
I didn't realize you all are in Colorado, near Greeley. My old ground! I lived in Colorado Springs a total of 16 years, and spent 5 years in Boulder earning my degree. In fact, my sister and her husband still live in Lakewood. I've been in California since the late 80s, but still miss Colorado at times.
Great video.
Awesome rug and tires.
Thanks for sharing this.
Nice to see the start and end of the engine build 😊
Thanks for this video very much!!!!
It was most interesting and informative and enjoyable to watch.
What a great idea to do an overview of this motor overhaul from beginning to end and back in the Jeep.
I have mixed feelings about the music. It is ok but could do without it.
That motor runs just wonderfully. Great work Jim and Nicholas. Super nice old vehicle.
Sincerely appreciate your follow up this motor video. Was absolutely great.
Just a question. As the camera moved around i saw the frontage of a large shop area. I thought Jim’s Automotive was a machine shop and not a large shop. Am I misunderstanding your business???
Thanks.
The retired Air Force veteran.
Thanks for watching and the comment!
This was filmed at the tire shop the owner of the jeep is affiliated with (upper management of some sort).
Our shop is indeed small loo

Thanks so much for your answer. Thought i had it right but wanted to check.
Thanks again.
Awesome would love to see more of this style and length video
Another beautiful job kid, boy do I miss that kind of work!
No music next time plz
If they didn't play the music you guys would find something else to b**** about
Love this so much. So sad that these types of skills are waning in our country, but a huge thanks for sharing with all of us!
Nice to see & hear it all together and running. Thise BFG mudterrain tires look so good on there! Love those tires & the way they look - perfect! Cleaning guy did a good job on this one! Thanks for letting us see it back in its home.👌🏻👍🏻🔩🔧🇺🇲
Smell is the most powerful sense for sure. It literally connects you to whatever you have in your memory bank.
These videos that talk about nostalgia are great. Can you imagine in 50 years with the kids now we'll think about as nostalgic? Like when there's no power grid anymore, and they want to just play online. Hahaha!
Happy Fourth of July 2024 to all and Greetings from Germany...
What an amazing rebuild job...! However without a well equipped machine shop along with old school knowledge and professionalism...
such quality can not be matched by the average garage rebuild.
Now and then I get flash backs of little tips and tricks that my dad attempted to teach a young hardheaded teenager. Many regrets that I thought I knew better. All that said... I followed most of the episodes and thoroughly enjoyed them all. Looking forward to future similar episodes.
Engine nice...cool truck!
Dad has a 48 jeepster. Has 350 Chevy now. He had. 51 pickup. That was restored. Had it for 10 yrs or so. Ran great. He sold it 3-4 yrs ago.
What a great build. My does that engine purrrrrrr.
I really understand why so many mechanics want to assemble their engines. The parts , and machine work are such a large part of building an engine I believe it’s a better option to have a master machinist assemble it.
Really excellent work, and should last a long time.
I would assemble my own, but, having a good machinist in the loop is an absolute necessity for engines that are worn out of spec and honing cannot be done properly without their skillet.
