- 🌴 🐟 I've been in a tropical mood lately. I recently scored this Yamaha DD-5 drum machine from a thrift store, and this breezy tune flowed right out when I turned on the "Pops 1" beat and started experimenting. Something about these chords and melodies make me want to wear linen and lounge by the ocean. I hope you enjoy!

This was my first keyboard my parents got me in 2nd grade back in 1990. I recently found it in storage and it still works, good memories. Are you familiar with Loopy Pro?
That was my very first keyboard! If I'm not mistaken the demo song should be "wake me up" and it came with a michael jackson song book! You're bringing the memories man :') awesome jam!

Underrated gear! The DD-5 is probably the cheapest MIDI drum pad out there and even has velocity! I added a simple speaker kill switch to mine to make it more usable that way.
Nice! Do you use them in addition to a drum kit?
@TrimPathMusic Yes, I'm using it with an Akai S2000 to make a super cheap sample pad for my drummer friend. The default MIDI notes the DD-5 sends on power up, without any complicated button combinations, are A2, D#3, E2, and A1. Set up the Akai for those notes and it works perfectly.
Killer. I work with MIDI in various situations, that would be cool to try. Thanks for the info!

Now the rc5! Is it better than the rc1 or the complexity doesn’t necessarily make it better?
It's effectively the same for what I'm doing on this video. I got the RC-5 a while back to experiment with MIDI synching drum machines, my DAW, etc.

What speakers do you use for these?
I typically use headphones when I'm recording. When I'm just jamming for fun, I use a keyboard amp.
@@TrimPathMusicis there a way to connect the last pedal of your board straight into studio monitors? I tried it but only 1 speaker works probably due to the mono signal of the guitar pedals
