Two months ago I discovered your channel, a month ago I asked for some video explanation about your setup, now you're here delivering just a couple of days after I ordered a few pedals for myself to give this a try. I truly appreciate this man! Thanks a lot. You're an inspiration to a few random internet folks out there.
Man, I've watched tons of jam videos ob youtube and massive amounts of gear reviews and electronic music content in general. Your style and approach really stands out, not only because of the use of lo-fi gear, wich is a whole category in itself, but there's something else that I just couldn't put my finger on. This video tells me you come in to this world of synth jam videos from a totally different angle. You're an experienced musician rather than the bedroom producer like the rest of us. Anyway I thoroughly enjoy your explorations with the Casio and gang. Thank you for putting a smile on my face.
First, big inspiration. I have watched this a few times, and i went out and got some stuff and used some of what i have, and i now have almost everything to have a working rig. big thanks you.
I know absolutely zero about synths but i just ordered a reface dx. Being a guitar player i think it will be a great way to expand sound.....and also use up the old pedals i have hanging around. Great vid. It was exactly what i was looking for😊
YOU HAVE A DD-5 DRUM MACHINE. When that flashed on screen, it brought so many memories. I got one from a car-boot sale when I was 10 (a couple of decades ago), The built in sounds are burnt into my brain, can't wait to check your video on it..
I have an RC-1 and I've always struggled with it. I didn't realize you could hook up another foot switch to more easily kill the loop - thanks for making this walk through, I got a lot out of it.
Really sick! Something I like to do with keys is get a frequency splitter, like the KMA Tyler and you can send different frequencies to different effects.
Hello, you’re right, in my opinion, the effects processes including reverb, chorus and other certainly enhances these sounds of these small cheesy keyboards so to speak. I’m a keyboard/piano player and singer hobbyist as well as how I create multitrack demosdemos.
Thanks youtube for putting this video on my feed I just start playing a synth. I mainly play guitar, I use similar guitar pedals like yours, boss delay pedals and a small size synth(a yamaha reface cp) with build-in effects. It was truly inspiring seeing you combining these gears in a way I never thought of before Love the dd-8 drum machine part and using eq pedal as filter effect is brilliant Also your pedal board is elegant Thanks for uploading, gonna definitely check on other videos of yours too
Vintage casio and yamaha keys are great when effects are added. Just a quick note. Those yamaha's (like your pss 560) with the 5 slider synth. I do not know whether you know this but when all the 5 sliders are in the middle position that is the tone as originally programmed, I did not know this when I first started using these, but knowing this gives you a standard start position which makes changing the tones some much easier to plan and workout rather than just randomly changing stuff. Hope that helps someone!
@@TrimPathMusic Glad to be able to help! It is worth picking up some of the early multi-effects as they have some 'strange' FX not easily achieved with normal guitar pedals, eg strange step filters, ring mods etc, and if you can also play around with parallel processing which is often overlooked as people tend to think, with guitar pedals, of using them only in series.
On the RC-5 you could link the master volume with a midi controller :) Also if you push up the reverb pedal a bit you could squeeze a mooer E7 under it for some extra sounds (it also has an arp) ;)
I think a great video in the future is doing a live breakdown of a jam you made, explaining the process for the audience so they can appreciate the work more! ❤
very inspiring! I was thinking about buying an 88 keys expensive keyboard, but this video opened my mind on how my guitar pedals could work fine buying an old keyboard with a simple drum machine, i'll try building something next month
*Does anyone know where I can find a SPATIALIZER pedal, where I can dial in where stereo separation can take place?* Basically I want bass to remain mono but the higher up the frequency the more stereo separation occurs. I'd like dial how much, and when it occurs gradually.
Frik ya!!! Couple minutes in and this gives me big feelings of nostalgia and longing to get back into noise making/recording... I think I probably will someday, but ya, I remember how fun it is to experiment with whatever I could find to signal through whatever effects pedals i had... I like how you are going through all of your thoughts as well as you play with them awesome toys...
Incredible!! May I ask what all brands of cables you use? I’m looking for small jack cables like these especially going out of the tap tempo of the DD-8 to the tap switch.
I have a bunch of different cables. However, I do like these Rock Stock cables because the plugs are tiny and round. It’s helpful when real estate is limited on the board. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B09CS3487S?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
How do you exactly use the A and B channel on the RC1. Is it to overdub a second recording without destroying the length of the first? Do you have a video recommendation for the right usage. That my main problem to properly use the pedal
@TrimPathMusic when I record a first layer, then record a second one and end a little earlier than the first one, then the loop will keep the second, shorter length, so the first one is chopped short. You just record another layer, but the length of the first one stays the same
Thanks this is amazing and now casio mt 800 is coming 😂, saddly not enough money for all that gear. Meanwhile, Multi effect Valeton Gp100 save me. Thanks and thanks
This was a really inspiring and inspiring walk though. Out of interest, if you were starting from scratch and saving up for and buying these pedals one at a time what order do you think you would get them in? Do you think that the order could determine the scope of what could be achieved initially? I am asking as a guide, I realise that there are probably different opinions, options and preferences.
I started digital....since I came in the Beat Making World 2 years ago, But I quickly was a Hybrid as soon as I seen my Grandfather's set up...Keyboards baby!!! Pedals!!! Yessss!!!! Super awesome!!!!
I love the bass wah and reverb sounds you got! I did the same thing in the late '80s - early '90s with a Casio SK-1 Sampler. I didn't use as many pedals but I do remember using my Digitech Whammy pedal lowering the octave and a delay pedal. I would noodle on it when I got bored with guitar and often I would come up with some original material and I would make some tracks on the Tascam 4 track Portastudio. It was a fun experience, inspiring me to pick up my guitar again. 🎹🔊🎛🎚🎸I don't know if you use any special pedal to allow the use of guitar pedals, but I had no problem hooking them up directly to the Casio. All in all, you don't really need any expensive gear, use what you have and be creative.

@@TrimPathMusic wow, that brought me back, felt like I was drumming that same groove I did on it, on my parents cabinet all those years ago.

The next level of this rabbit hole is a modular synth. Great setup!

Simpler. A distortion.

Please keep this style.

I have an MT-240 too, made a couple ambient tracks with it and I love the thing. It's been in my family since my dad was a kid lol

hi, thx for the contribution, which delay pedals can be used for a Yamaha PSR 343 keyboard??
Thanks! You can try pretty much anything with an input and an output. Happy experimenting!
Cool setup
awesome setup! But I can’t stop thinking. No distortion/fuzz/overdrive? 🫢
Need a bigger board 😎
Trimpath where'd you goooo brooooo? Time for another casio jam!
Life has been busy, but I’ve got some jams in the works! Don’t worry, I’ll be back soon!
How do you exactly use the A and B channel on the RC1. Is it to overdub a second recording without destroying the length of the first? Do you have a video recommendation for the right usage. That my main problem to properly use the pedal
I use it to run the keyboard effects in stereo, left/right. I'm not sure if it can be used how you're describing.
@TrimPathMusic when I record a first layer, then record a second one and end a little earlier than the first one, then the loop will keep the second, shorter length, so the first one is chopped short. You just record another layer, but the length of the first one stays the same
Where is the sound output to? I have an SP 404 mk2 and I would like to flow it all into there. It should work I think.
Lately I send the outputs to a Scarlett 18i20 interface, and record with Logic Pro. If I'm just jamming, I run it into a keyboard amp. ✌️🎹
Are you using the headphone jack out from keyboard to pedals?
@@roxynox On this keyboard it’s just called “output”, but it’s a 1/8th in Jack (headphone size). I got a 1/8 to 1/4 inch chord.
Love this!

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Start with a delay and reverb, those two pedals alone can take you really far. Good luck!
