Thank you, Chris, for being such an awesome, and honest guy. You made this whole transaction very easy. After you left, there was an emotional moment for me, as the cards were the last thing I had of my dad. But his wish was for it all to go to a single collector that would appreciate his efforts. It was truly a pleasure having you out to our home, and I hope that your return is much more than what you estimate. I would highly recommend you to anyone who is looking to sell their collection. Great video, can’t wait for part 2!
You guys picked the right guy for this. There's no one more reputable and trusted in the online card community than Chris. I'm glad you found him for your dad's collection.
Definitely second what Alex said, I sold Chris a "small collection" a few years back and never once thought about reaching out to anyone else after seeing all his videos and how transparent and honest he is.
I really wish people did more of these type of video but in the meantime I am here for Chris's adventures in cards. Great presentation style and a pleasant change from lots of the other card stuff which is filled with money or attention or complaining about the industry.
Hi Chris. Everyone who watches your channel appreciates your honesty and work ethic. I'm looking forward to the follow up in the next couple of months.
The key is that seller knew u would not sneakily steal a valuable collection by offering much less. You are a paragon of the hobby. U. should run Topps. Love the channel!
Right as I was wondering how much shipping all that would cost, you said it was over $1,200. Those are the details I always enjoy and you always break down. Thanks for bringing us along! Also there's something wonderfully beautiful about "going through cards all day. That's what I want to be doing with my life."
Great story and details, Chris! I feel like with collections this large, you almost never see this level of organization. Pretty impressive (and great for you!).
Chris; I want to say in all honesty, I’ve always been very impressed what you pay for collections. Those who know nothing of card selling might think “he’s making $10,000+ on the collections and ripping the guy off”, I’d say to those people, you go and fly across The US to look at a collection that may be worth nothing, pack it up, unpack it, sort it for shipping ect ect…. There are a lot of upfront cost that have to be factored. What if it was a bust? Chris is out almost $1g and got nothing. Plus you take all the time sorting, listing, what goes where, grading and shipping to customers an d you will soon have a better idea how fair a deal Chris gives. Must other guys would try to take the cream (where all the value is and the smallest pile) and offer $2,500-$5,000. A novice seller would think it a good deal as he still has most of the cards not realizing there worthless. Very impressive Chris! You give old collectors like me hope for the hobby! Plus a guy who plays with another guys doggies is aces in my book! Maybe someday I’ll have you up in Massachusetts to look at my collection of cards, sign baseballs (Mantle, Williams Mays,Aaron) and original game used jersey’s from Rocket Richard’s 50’s Jersey ect ect.
10:40 I love this little aspect of the overall deal/situation as it hits in different ways. It’s a memento for Alex that he can treasure, it’s a great snapshot of Alex’s father’s love of sports (and probably an Easter egg being in this collection all those years since his passing) and even if it’s the only ‘card’ (a signed Polaroid) that remains at the house after the sale was done, it might just hold the best value for Alex. 😊
@@TenaciousAC yes, it was a great Easter egg that was very fitting. My dad was very meticulous about a lot of things, but you know how moving can cause stuff to just get put into a box, any box, and then forgotten about. After Chris left I was throwing out a dozen banker boxes worth of used plastic card sleeves, and my wife found a photo of my dad and one of my godfathers holding me just after my birth. Also a nice find that was very fitting.
IDK... I think even an inexperienced dealer can make more than double off that... That Sean Taylor and Brady alone is 1k+ ungraded and if I got a 9or even a 10 you cud get half ur money back just on those 2 cards...
