Exactly and it's just a flawed story, which can be fixed with simple writing changes as well as power scaling. It's great compared to the pitfall called MK 11.
@@Don-mp6tv okay, care to explain your unfounded opinion, about a retconned mess that relies on using the original characters through time travel, instead of actively developing the universe?
They could have simply said the revenants are hollow versions of there former selfs meaning they are like zombies that can’t really adapt like there human counterparts but no there just weaker for whatever reason
Honestly that makes a lot of sense. Given that they always seem like corpses that want to serve shinnok to the point of worship. But they also seem sentient beyond that (sometimes I can’t emphasize that enough) which brings other questions.
It was sort of silly sure but I never got the impression that the revenants were weaker but rather "stagnant" and Johnny got way stronger over the many years between 9 and 10. This reinforces his win over Shinnok, enhances Sonya who has always been more formidable, and justified Cassie's strength.
@@coldfury2652 That certainly makes you worldly and knowledgeable, but does an incredibly long lifespan and super-human durability ACTUALLY make you all-powerful and great at fighting? It would seem not.
@@XxzanesterxX yeah but shinnok has to have like hundreds of spells and casting under his belt Johnny was a movie star and in 9 years can some how stand up to a god if that’s the case then what do we have to fear from the elder gods just have some people train for a few years and bam

@@blyat8832 was it though? Jade and Kitana were assassins trained for centuries, so it makes sense, at least compared to them losing to Sonya in MK 9 during a 1 on 2 fight that made no sense.
I think to understand the green glow that the cage’s have, you have to go back to Johnny’s ending in Armageddon. It specifically says that he is descended from a race of elder gods. They just went for deep lore
A few days ago I read that the Cage bloodline comes from a race that could actually kill Elder Gods, which is why Sindel, in MK11, wanted him to breed her warriors.
Didn't they explain in his ending that Raiden was going to take him to be trained by Bo Rai Cho so johnny could master that ability ? I'm pretty sure they did. And then they just passed that onto bubblegum blonde for the sake of pushing girl power while casting Johnny aside. Mkx is where mortal Kombat lore died
@@slthjawa5062gggghhjjjjjkkkk Ah yes bloodline centric power passed down to Johnny? Makes sense. Bloodline centric power passing down to Johnny's kid? Hold up chief idk about this one.
Honestly I think they should do away with the one character per chapter system they've had for a while now. In every game they've used it in everyone complains about plot armor because if the character of that chapter loses, then the chapter shouldn't continue so they make sure they can't lose. I think they should have you play as multiple characters through each chapter to help avoid this.
Ed Boon is a troll, he never listens to fans, they keep this stupid system, they keep the kombat kids stories, they keep the 4 forced fights, the chapters the evil guys staying jobbers and NOT getting any love and chapters, they need to get rid of Ed Boon, then the stories and system becomes much better.
I always found MK story mode weird in MK9, at least the matchups. Dunno, Sonya beats RAIDEN but then loses to Johnny Cage, who loses to dunno Kano, who loses to Kitana, who in turn loses to five other jobbers, etc. At least with Raiden you can give rationale that he wasn't really trying to fight Sonya, but Kitana was probably the worst. She beats everyone in her chapter but ends up being punching bag in everyone else chapters the entire game. She gets her ass kicked like 10 times.
There isn't really a good alternative though. You need to have the players try on a character for a few fights, otherwise the gameplay would be needlessly confusing. And also for the gameplay reasons you can't just fight 50 tarkatans but instead face off against various characters
At least for MK11, you got to choose between 2 characters for certain chapters. Like you had the choice to choose of Liu Kang or Kung Lao, Scorpion or Sub-Zero, Shao Kahn or Sindel. The choices didn't really have an impact of the story until the final fight for Fire God Liu Kang or Shang Tsung
Also, it hampers their ability to tell a solid story throughout because we don't spend enough time with any one character to give them proper development and character arcs.
I personally disliked MK11 story more: - everything is rewritten, technically, most of the things that happened, Di not matter anymore - worst, most boring villain - disappearance of one of the coolest, most badass characters (dark raiden)
8:36 literally my question for almost every story mode event. Why didn’t you teleport? Why didn’t you use your powers and float? How are you cornered if you can teleport?
On top of that, I never understood the very idea of "earth defenders" team. Like, Shinnok has to beat them first, to leave the Earth "defenseless". wtf that means, if portals between worlds can be easily opened anytime anywhere (which actually happens all the time)?
Its called being thoroughly defeated, witness to the death of your allies and supporters, and suffering the withdrawal from Shinnok's amulet. Mileena was ready to die after that many blows to her ego and spirit.
Plot and tbh the teleport argument is dumb imo because we already know the answer. You know how many characters in mk can teleport but never does when they're about to die? If they did the plot would go nowhere. With that said, the way Mileena died was still trash lol
For the acid attack of Reptile on Takeda's eyes, pouring water is a good solution 'cause if you add enough water to an acid solution, you will dilute the acid and it will be less dangerous Also in chemistry class, teachers told you to rince your eyes, if for some reasons, it make its way to your eyes, and for at least 10 min
I always found it weird when people say pouring water didn’t make sense because in Chem class you were always told to use water to dilute the acid. Sure it needs to be longer than what’s shown but it would be boring to watch them put water in his eyes for ten fuckin minutes
This is also one of those things where just using common sense you'd be able to tell that it is a good idea. Water is pretty harmless to your eyes (even with the salinity difference). Pouring bases into your eyes to neutralize the acid is such a terrible alternative. I am shocked that TUDG showed that kind of conviction with his statement. Every lab where you work with chemicals has those handheld showerheads for eye rinsing, has this man never been in a lab before? Dunning-Kruger effect in full swing.
An issue I have with the story modes in these games is the fact they have largely moved away from the tournament concept but the story is acted (mostly) out via one-on-one fights. It always seems a little forced.
He got 3 Ws but they're all cutscenes, first was when he one shot all of Earthrealms forces in Chapter 9, and beat both Bo Rai Cho and a fatigued Raiden in Chapter 10. Not the most impressive but hey those are still some Ws
I mean the same thing with Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn. We need MK12 to let the bad guys win and the heroes suffer defeat. Avengers proved this with Thanos!!!
I love some things in the story. But I also feel like they really really needed to polish a lot of stuff in the story. In the words of the famous Master Blue Berry Ice : Such wasted potential XD
The power levels in MK games make me so mad. MK characters are great, and not just because of their appearance. Most characters have interesting and even deep lore. Look at Baraka. He is used as a low tier henchman, however his lore is awesome. He is the greatest warrior of a race conquered by Shao Khan and later hunted to extinction by Kotal Khan. I loved how he finally managed to free his people in MK11, however he didn't always want to free them. He was loyal to Shao Khan. Was this out of fear? Is Tarkatan culture like this? Is it out of pride? So many great questions and we don't get the answer to them because MK focuses on flashy action scenes that make no sense, which invalidate character's struggles, fears and goals. Look at how Kitana defeated Shao Khan. Is Kitana really stronger than an entire race of Tarkatans? Really...? This is just one example but all of MKs problems are because of power levels changing to fit the narrative. Kano fighting Kotal, Reptile losing to Jacqui, Stryker defeating Ermac and Kintaro, Ermac not killing Jax or Sonya, D'Vorah killing Scorpion, Shinnok not killing the entire camp when he is released etc. the list just goes on. I can't take the story, or the characters seriously because I know that they change to fit the current narrative.
I disagree with D'vorah being unable to kill Scorpion. 1: D'vorah isn't weak 2: It was poison and backstabbing. 3: D'Vorah is MUCH older than Scorpion, so probably just as good in fighting. All others points you have my support, especially with stupid Stryker beating the likes of Kintaro and Ermac, who should crush him.
one more: in brazil, they invited a singer who had never worked as a voice actress or actress to dub cassie. it got so horrible that it made many players stop playing or look for an alternative to change the game's language.
Does anyone else have a problem with how many times a dvorah related story problem is just explained with "Oh her bugs did it"? How multi functional can bugs be
@@Jonathan-A.C. , I was disappointed on how Baraka and Mileena were killed in MKX, but I was extremely furious and outraged 😡🤬🥵over Scorpion’s death in MK11.
I think that If Raiden changed into Dark Raiden and beat Shinnok would have led MUCH better into MK11 and Dark Raiden would just have been using Kronika as a pawn to get the crown at the last second, to take out Shao Kahn, Kronika, and Outworld at the same time kinda like Raiden's mkX arcade ending.
Remember the fight scene between Raiden and all of the revenants? I actually unironically love that scene. It shows off how powerful Raiden is and even after what he did he still was crushed by Shinok. However, because the revenants were shown to be so weak it never crosses your mind that Raiden could lose, because the revenants have only fought people weaker than raiden and have always lost so of course they would lose to a God. Think about how amazing it would be if they were roaming around being menaces kicking the ass of the cast just so when they get to Raiden he beats the All by himself. Not only would that give Raiden a legitimate and very awesome show of power. It would reinforce the hopelessness they wanted to show when shinok Stops Raiden as easily as he did.
I think a good solution to this (that some may dislike) is player wins the fight to progress, but sometimes when the story calls for it, maybe either make the fight unwinnable and the story progresses on loss. Either that or just have the following cutscene show the villain taking back control of the fight and winning narratively regardless
I think the fact that Jax could deflect Liu Kang's fire/plasma balls with his arms without feeling any pain proves its an error that Jax was shown being in pain when Sindel stomped on his hands. NR was just too lazy to not make Jax react in pain when his hands ate cut off. Remember how the Terminator reacts in pain during fatalities even tho he's a robot? NR was just lazy
IMO, i feel that way the next story mode should be structured is you should be able to play different characters for each fight, similar to street fighter v where you got to play some of the villians (M.bison, Vega, Necalli, Fang,) that way everyone can have a chance to shine and actually look like they can put up a fight and no one is'nt a jobber. one example: in sfv story mode, Vega beats Cammy in their first fight after escaping with Juri. in the Final act, Cammy defeats Vega.
Seriously, it feels like returning villains aren't really a threat. You never really see baraka, erron black, noob saibot etc. win because you never play as them.
Yeah. Even though MK11 has some tiny aspects about it which are good, it’s just a fucking mess. MKX’s story might not be the best story about MK either but it’s better that the other NRS MK games.

I always thought that kotal losing to Kung jin was due to probably still being weakened by mileena in chapter 2, after she blasted him with shinnok's amulet
That's ACTUALLY a good reason. Personally Kung Jin should've foughten Devoriah 1st and won. Maybe fight Erron Black and win, but barely.Than FINALLY take on Kotal, but fight him to a stalemate. Either stall Kotal and have him get RIGHT back up like Shinnok did with Johnny OR have him in a cutscene deflect and absorb Kung Jin's blows, with little to no effect, and just shout "Enough! I grow weary of our conflict. You are indeed a respectable warrior. I shall grant you amnesty. But make NO mistake. When next our paths cross I will show no mercy." And than Kung Jin proves his strength, but doesn't overstep his boundaries with Kotal Kahn; who NOW appears to be a credible threat. Basically he's just toying with Kung Jin, but not actually wishing to harm him since he's intrigued. Perhaps he's testing Kung Jin like how Sub-Zero later tests Cassie and her team. Also Kotal betrays them later and than tries to kill them to appease Shinnok. This would work really well later for the story.
Agreed with some complaints of fans, but I agree with you about Cassie vs Shinnok. It was very clear in the story that SHE was specifically his weakness because of the glow. I remember it being brought up alot in the story. It wasn't that she is stronger, it's like you said it's just the glow is Elder God kryptonite.
11:51 acid does get diluted by water. However, it's not like pouring water on an acid wound somehow fixes the damage done by the acid or anything, it just stops the acid from doing even more damage.
I’d guess based on the size of The4thSnake’s playlist, that Sindel’s retcon is the most hated story in Mortal Kombat. But for real, MK11 with its time travel bullshit, adherence to the awful chapter system, terrible characterisation, refusal to commit to development in the plot, massive franchise reboot and the WORST villain in all of MK.
Nah it’s gotta be dark raiden. How tf r u wasting an potential concept twice when there are clearly foundations for you to explore on? E.g. fujin critiquing his way of protection of earthrealm
There needed to be more context with the green glow, Fujin tells Johnny that he was the one who blessed his ancestors so that raises more questions about their abilities.
@@michaelfireheart8300 it was in 11 with Fujin and Johnny's intro dialogue. Fujin states that, Johnny asks "you knew my great-great-grand pappy?" which he replies that he was as annoying as Johnny. It just adds more to the green glow but it needed more info like why were they blessed and how potent is it.
I don't hate Jacquie, but I would've liked it more if we had a Lin kuei instead of 2 special forces. I'd rather have a shirai ryu and Lin kuei relationship.
I don't mind having Jacqui/2 SF in the team, IF they're interesting. Cassie acts like Johnny and Sonya 2.0 but she's somewhat interesting at times. Jacqui is literally just Jax's female version
On the acid thing, remember that a lot of places where you can expect to be working with caustic chemicals have eyewash stations for the express purpose of using water to get the chemical out of your eyes. Idea being "yeah damage has been done, but it's gonna keep doing more damage the longer it's there so you need to get rid of it." Now I agree reptiles acid, given he can use it as a weapon, is crazy potent and Takeda at best should have been temporarily blinded, not "oh hey perfect vision", but the immediate reaction of flush the eyes with water was a good one, though she used improper technique to do it. It could have been the difference between permanent blindness or even death given how bad reptiles acid can be (I think he can dial the acidity around for different purposes personally), and possibly being able to see again. Cause let's be honest, if anyone here got acid in their eyes and someone had a canteen of water and did nothing to try to help you, you'd be pretty fucking pissed.
@@amaurycanales It has a neutral pH because it has equal parts OH(-) and H(+) ions, where the OH(-) can accept H(+) ions from acids, and the H(+) ions can bond to bases. Obviously, this occurs randomly and in small amounts. Ultimately, water can dilute and neutralize acids or bases, but not both at the same time. Naturally, the pH changes accordingly, but that's why you need to constantly wash it away.
I think the main problem was that we didn't get any real closure with the other characters we've been following for so long. They're still there, but it's like "oh well your old heroes are just evil now, but here's your newwwwww ones!!!" It was just too drastic of a jump for them to make, so the Kombat Kids were always kept at a distance from fans. For whatever you want to say about MK11, that story brought it back around to giving the OG cast a better send off, especially for Liu Kang and Raiden.
For Jade, I guess they had some plans to use her mk9 ending. My disappointment wasn't that she wasn't in mkx but why she was a ravana... Revane... Rev... A zombie in mk11 without even a line of explanation.
@@arrownoir yeah, but in her mk9 ending, she was posesed by a spirit. In mkx, the writers probably wanted to see if they can do something with this in the future and didn't even referance her in the story. Then mk11 they probably said "f it, this is going nowhere" and they just put her in there like she was always together with rest of the group.
Hit right on the head with Kotal bro I’m a big fan of the comics so when I seen how weak they made him look on MKX and MK11 it really pissed me off smh
All I want to see is some bad guys kick the crap out of earthrealmers. Have Ermac or Baraka nearly kill some of the decently strong character so they could have some wins and pose a threat and aren't just jobbers. Kind of sick of all of the outworlders being jobbers when they all should be strong fighters.
I replayed MKX's history a while ago and it was quite fun. At the time of the game's release I thought the story wasn't good, but in retrospective it was decent. Chapters 1-4 are really enjoyable and probably the best part of the story. After that, Sonya's chapter really ruined the mood, considering how they treated Quan Chi and because I found Sonya really boring and unlikable compared to MK9's version. D'Vorah's chapter is an improvement, but the revelation that she worked for Quan Chi really ruined a character that worked really well in the comics as the loyal right hand of Kotal. At that point the story really goes downhill. Chapter 7 with Takeda is fine but uneventful. The flashback to his training with Hanzo and how he made amends with his father was the highlight. Not a bad chapter, but doesn't grab your attention after the two previous chapters and their flaws. Chapters 8 to 12 really had some awful decisions: the multiple beatdowns of Quan Chi, making Scorpion look like an idiot for releasing Shinnok, Kotal Kahn becomes a coward without reason, Cassie beating Corrupted Shinnok without a proper struggle... My main criticisms are the portrayal of Kotal Kahn and Quan Chi, who looked awful, as well as the win without build up for Cassie Cage. To be honest, I think MK11's story is actually way worse considering what they did to the canon. MKX story treats some characters poorly, but the disregard for the previous ten installments and continuous retcons without reason makes MK11's story the bigger evil. In summary, MKX's story is flawed in execution, MK11's story is flawed in concept.
Yeah quan chi is supposed to be a genius according to nrs but in execution, they made him some jobber who had his undead jobbers protect him all the time
I find myself disagreeing entirely. You all are trying to maintain a connection between Midway MK and NRS MK. The purpose of NRS's Timeline is a clean break from 30 years' worth of baggage and story boundaries without shitting over 30 years' worth of fandom and Canon. This is all achieved while shoring up the plot with an inspired introduction of the manifestation of fate in a way which establishes a plot hook for 90% of how players actually play the game, ladders and versus. The nature of MK11's story means nothing is non-canon because all timeline iterations are not only possible, but exist or have existed due to Kronika's meddling (aka: you and your buddies... or me and mine... staying up all night playing Mortal Kombat). In all, I think the Retcon you're referring to is one of the most clever instances of game writing I've ever encountered. There no longer is any disconnect between story and gameplay.
@@TheOtherBradBird Ho ho, I would find it amusing how naive you are considering that NRS straight up disrespect the community and earns no favors from the minorities (and by minorities, I mean strawmen) whatsoever. If you think that Kronika is the changer of the events that transpired through the events of MK9 then it has no purpose for her being here if she's never around and becomes nothing more than self-insert.
14:23 its also possible that shao kahn has the Anti-god glow like johnny and cassie and learned the secrets from Johnny's ancestral tribe of god killers, since the mortal kombat lore dates back to the dawn of time (not liu kang's but the midway timeline) and he learned the power should any god attemp to kill him like he did onaga
I have issues with this storyline, but I thought it was.. okay, at least. Surprisingly, I didn't mind the Kombat Kids because we actually got time to explore their arcs. Frankly, it was a better viewing experience than MK9 was for me before then, and as much a better viewing experience than MK11 was for me after. Even with that high a pedestal I'm placing the game on, I'd rather go through Injustice's or especially Injustice 2's story modes again any day.
11:52 You have to wash the acid away with as much water as possible. A little bit of it will not help. By washing the acid with water you're diluting and thus increasing the pH back to it's physiological level. Every laboratory has an eye shower to wash chemicals (including acids) out of your eyes.
Real quick, on the water + acid: It would dilute the acid but with how acidic Reptile's acid is it wouldn't do much. Some sort of weak base would help neutralize the effects, but that's bringing RL physics in. That's just from my memory, not a chemist though so anyone with more info please drop that knowledge!
It flat out wouldn't work. The acid already made contact with the skin BEFORE water was applied. The damage would already be done and the water would just be like putting ointment on an amputation wound... Useless.
@@CeeDoubleU Well no, because certain acids erode at different times and points. And we’ve seen quite the variance of erosion from different attacks that Reptile has used, so unless you know it’s a certain degree of danger, I don’t see how this is that far out of the realm of belief. Clearly it wouldn’t work to the effect it did, but that’s not what we’re arguing about
All good points. I would’ve thought it more effective for the story for Shinnok to recognize the threat of the “green glow” on his plot to take over. Maybe attempt to not fight the Cage family until he “leveled up”. Just like Superman recognizes kryptonite can kill him.
Is it possible that Shang Tsung knew about Johnny Cage's hidden power? I know that it was long before the Neatherealm games, but in the live action movie, it was Shang Tsung who lured him into the tournament, and it was never really explained why. In their first interaction in MK9, Tsung tells Cage that "appearances can be deceiving" before making him the first combatant of the tournament. Given how old Shang Tsung is, is it possible that he knew about Cage's lineage and thought that his power could be stolen used against the Elder Gods?
Hoo man, this has been a story mode I've been wanting to talk about. Now I just replayed it recently from the Steam sale, about a month or two ago so fairly fresh in my mind but I have forgotten a few things. Overall though my biggest point is from a story telling perspective, the ending is absolutely frustrating. The "green glow" this is fine, mostly. I understood it only beats gods and worked on Shinnok and all that, that was fine. The problem with the ending is the character of Cassie, honestly. In the context of MKX we spend very little time overall with her, we really don't know her character at all, but she's the protagonist at the end. She isn't really established, she gets her chapter at the very end and at that point all I knew is that she's a gal in the military. The rest of the "Kombat Kids" had quite the set up, Takeda reconnecting with his father and his mentor, learning about his mother, etc. Kung Jin having a heart to heart with Raiden and confronting himself, in a sense, and his past. Even Jacqui we see her relationship with her father and Takeda, but Cassie we just don't see any of that. They really either needed to spend a whole chapter with her earlier OR have one of the other kids be the one to defeat Shinnok. Just give them the green glow and say that it's a favor from the gods or something, it doesn't have to be inherited. Though on that note the idea that the green glow is 'genetic power' is a bit at odds with Kung Jin's story, that he's trying to escape his past and really be himself. Not tied to so much to his ancestors and that he can forge his own path. The green stuff kind of dumps on that. Additionally (I know this is in rant territory, but oh well) though I liked the story of MKX overall, honestly, I didn't really care for the 'military' aesthetic that it seemed to be obsessed with. I feel like more mysticism and occult would be better for Mortal Kombat. Which is sort of why also Cassie being the 'hero' seemed odd, I would have gone with either Takeda or Kung Jin just thematically. Though an argument could certainly be made for Jacqui as a surprise 'underdog' hero with all her tech fighting against the sorcery of the world, provided that the overall aesthetic had changed from 'military' to 'occult' like I mentioned earlier so the contrast is more apparent. Last little thought was with the Jax+Sindel scene shown in the video, I do think that whole problem could have been alleviated very easily if they just showed like a 2 second close up of Sindel's foot maybe starting to crush/break the armor plating on his hand, showing that she is incredibly strong and that his hands are in danger. Would instantly let people know like "oh yeah that probably hurts or at least I can understand that that MIGHT hurt him even though they are cybernetics"
Finally someone else said it. I hated the fact that everyone wears a gray jumpsuit in MKX. Sure MK9 was a camp fest that the devs were clearly trying to get away from, but making everyone and everything GRAY in X just made it all look boring and uninteresting. Even Mileena wears gray trousers for some reason; the Kombat Kids all wear pretty much the same clothes... If there's one thing MK11 did right was to add color back into the game. I also agree with the lack of background for cassie.
What come to realize in the MKX story is 1. Quan Chi was punching bag 2. Shinnok was easily beaten by Johnny and Cassie 3. Johnny even survived a blast from Shinnok (who is a Freaking Elder God) 4. Plus you don't re do the the QTE's whether you press right buttons or not
I think eleven was the worst. Ten is alright. Deadly Alliance is my favorite. Which one, out of all of them including before Netherealm was your favorite and why? I liked the premise of Deadly Alliance and Raiden's voice.
A little defence about UnderDawg's opinion on Jax's arms (actually an attack I think): Yes, it does makes sense that his arms should sense stuff. BUT, he doesn't have to feel pain. I think him not feeling pain is also why he's so strong. He can punch the ground and through a skull but he doesn't look like he's suffering at all. Try punching the ground... feel that?
The way mileena died was so weird. It looked like regular rope she was tied with so she should have been able to teleport. And we see in her throw in mkx and her intro in mk11 that she can teleport without sais so I think it was just weird
@Crxstal_Lord That would make more sense but still, she's half edenian so she should have some type of magic herself. I'm not really sure but either way I'm glad she's back in mk11
@@LeXo1993R yeah but I think the reason she didn't was because kytinn blood is acidic which is why teleporting would make more sense but she didn't which confuses me

The way I see it, if Sonya didn't delay Scorpion killing Quan Chi, Quan Chi would've been dead before D'vorah arrived with the amulet. The amulet Quan Chi used to release Shinnok right before Scorpion took his head off. Basically, Scorpion could've prevented Shinnok's return had Sonya not got in his way. But Sonya wasn't trying to stop Scorpion because of Shinnok... she was stopping him because Quan Chi was the key to freeing the remaining revenants - who were mostly irrelevant anyway.
Even if Scorpion had killed Quan Chi before, it would have permanently left the heroes as revenants. Which is even more screwed-up when you realize that Sonya was the one who saved them the first time (Jax, Sub Zero, and even Scorpion himself). So not only does Scorpion think his revenge is more important than Liu Kang, Kitana, Stryker, etc all combined...BUT he is betraying the woman who saved him from his own slavery as a Specter.
MK1's story line was by far the worst and least memorable entry in the reboot series. I've been playing MK since 1995 and I could not believe how unimaginative and uninspired the most recent game was.
I always never got Liu Kang being weaker as a revenant. He was literally The Chosen One, the champion of Mortal Kombat. Just seems stupid to nerf him even for the sake of Plot.
Nope stop you right there…. It’s a bunch of betrayal and y’all talking about Kronika when she existed in MK9 when Shang Tsung was casted into the void with nightwolf but in MkX Fujin was casted into the void and explains why they weren’t involved in the mkx story and then Sheeva became Queen so they had goro instead of sheeva in mkx then is believed that kintaro is gonna be in mk1 and the kombat kids didn’t have the spotlight, and when y’all say the time traveling is too much when that happened only once and about dark raiden, would’ve made the story confusing, and Fire god Lukang wouldn’t exist and the timeline would be destroyed
What i hate the most about mkx is how Cassie beat shinnok. 1:shinnok is an elder God 2: he ever took raidens power and become curropted shinnok. AND HE STILL GETS BEATEN BY A 20 YEARS OLD

I'm sorry, but for me, any story is better than MK11 story. Aftermath was very very good, but the base storyline, with a generic villain, imitation of Injustice and no Takeda or Kung Jin, I was done with that. Sorry for those who like it, you can like it and it's okay, everyone has different opinions, but it didn't work to me
Aftermath was a complete clusterfuck, the moment you realise that liu kang never needed to send Shang, fujin and nightwolf back in time. Funnily enough, it still repeated the same issue of Cassie vs shinnok even when playing as villains, story makes no sense, ppwerscalings is out of the window, literally forcing unnecessary characters in the story just to be playable when the story can literally be done with less characters and everyone is apparently retarded af now (especially with characters such as shao Kahn and Sheeva)
Water does make an excellent diluter for acid so in a sense pouring water on it wouldn’t solve the pain instantly but it would severely weaken the acid
Oh my GOD!!! THAT'S SO TRUE! I talked about this trash so much. I am glad someone made video about it, and that was the most disappointing and worst story ending in MKX franchise with contradictions, which doesn't make any sense. THE ENDING RUINED THE WHOLE STORY UTTERLY!!!
Actually, if you get acid on yourself, water not only helps, but it is a recomeded way to help yourself. Acid has a pH of lower than 7, 7 being the standard pH value, and by pouring water on you, you raise the pH of that area, cancelling out the acid. So if the acid was lethal, Takeda would have lost his eyesight in seconds, but the fact that he didn't probably indicated that the acid wasn't that bad, so water was the right way to go to prevent any further damage.
One thing I got never was, why not use more guns, nukes, robots, satelite lasers whatever! These guy's can obviously be beaten by mortal means so why not?
I've always thought they could do many of these fights/encounters better. They could've had Mileena bite and rip Devorah's jaw out, making that ripped out area turn into a bunch of bugs or even spew acid all over her, including the restraint which would free her but give Mileena severe burns to her body. Ermac could've been trying to learn the soul magic technique to steal souls since Shang Tsung was cautious with his creations.
@sektornet if Mileena tried to bite her she would have been stabbed by Devorah's stabby bits. and ripping off Devorah's jaw would not kill her since she can live with only half a body.
I like how Mileena has lips in this game they brought back her full tarkatan mouth in MK11 so the only reason they added lips was for that kiss of death scene
The ending of 'MK11' makes it seem like you could've prevented Kronika from erasing the timeline if you had done things differently (not helping that the final battle of 'MK11: Aftermath' has you chose between two significantly different endings).
13:07 Not even the creators themselves are consistent on how it's supposed to work. MK9 Johnny Cage's ending: As the last remnants of Shao Kahn disintegrated, Johnny felt strange, as if he had *lost control of his body.* Suddenly, *powerful energy burst forth, destroying everything around him.* Johnny sought the aid of Raiden and Nightwolf, but *their efforts did nothing to stop these random spasms of destruction.* Desperate, *Raiden transported Johnny to Seido, the Realm of Order, where he could be taught to control his power.* Johnny Cage will transform into a warrior powerful beyond mortal imagining. (Non-canon, I know. And maybe that's something else.) MKX Story Mode: Johnny Cage: I've never been able to re-summon that green halo. Raiden thinks it was triggered when I *saw a loved one about to die.* (Yeah-yeah, that's just a hearsay and an assumption. But still confirmed by Corrupted Shinnok.) MKX Komic #20: Havik: ... Unless his bloodline are warriors bred to fight the gods themselves. Warriors whose *true power is unleashed when their loved ones are near death...* (He forced Cassie to watch Skarlet beat up Jacqui so he can witness her power and then take it.) MK 11 Intros: Scorpion: Your power stopped Shinnok. Cassie Cage: But it only bubbles up when *my life's in danger.* (Now it's a self-defense mechanism.) Scorpion: Demonstrate. Sheeva: Show me the *Green Armor* of the Gods. (Literally a plot armor...) Cassie Cage: I don't just do it on command, your Highness. Sheeva: If not on command, then in kombat.
There were literally no point of having prominent villains in this game. All of the established, strongest villains in this game were defeated in the dumbest ways and made the storylines seem like they were made up by a kid playing with action figures. Gameplay was fun though

That's not the only one, lol. imo, Kitana vs Shao Kahn in MK11 was also one of the biggest joke that ever happened in this series. Like... wtf? That Kitana from MK9? Since when Kitana learn how to kick people ass?
11:50 it’s usually recommended to flush the eyes with water when a chemical or acid burn happens and also water is kinda the most common thing that can dilute acid
The only thing Aftermath did correctly to me was get Cassie out of the spotlight and confirm her time along with the Special Forces in general (and Johnny Cage’s) time was over. It’s obvious the story can go on without Cassie, Jacqui, Takeda, and Kung Jin. Takeda not being DLC really cemented it that the Kombat kids were through. My issue with the story mode here is that the KK felt way too shoehorned and Shinnok losing to Cassie felt like they were just trying to make her relevant, along with Johnny Cage, who was NEVER a major player in any of the games. All that changed when I played Dead or Alive 6’s My Little Pony story that showed me how stupid some developers get trying to shill and shoehorn characters. Thank the Elder Gods MKX’s story wasn’t as awful as DIA6’s
The acid scene isn't that bad. Most corrosive liquids can be diluted by water, in fact general safety advice for getting most corrosive liquids in your eye is to essentially wash it out with water. That being said, given just how corrosive reptile's acid is, the guy's eyes should probably have been basically ruined by the time someone came with water to dilute it. It's also not immediate, you're generally supposed to run water over the eye for a good 20 minutes.
12:00 hey! Chemistry major here! :) You do actually have to wash acid with water… (to dilute it as much as possible) but like for 15 minutes, not 5 seconds!
MKX is also the start of the career of the most hated character in the franchise D'Vorah, some may argue that Hsu Hao and Kobra are worse but that's because they are pointless and have no impact, D'Vorah is hated because she has too much impact and she always gets away with everything. It's honestly why she's my 4th most hated villain of all time.
dunno man, I kinda like MKX story and I like it primarily due to the fact that it's different from majority of other MK games where everything was spinning around the tournament, also MKX artists has made the sexiest version of Mileena in entire franchise.
Water can dilute acid so it would be possible to use it to weaken an acid. That said, far far more water would have been necessary to dilute that strong an acid. Also it wouldn't heal any damage, just stop it getting worse, so by rights Takeda should be blind, unless it has some magical properties (completely possible in MK)
I've seen this argued by others but I have to take issue with some of the underlying assumptions. People have been shrugging off Reptile's basic acid attack for decades. Sure it does damage but its not "melt your face" levels of caustic (except in extreme amounts as shown during the Acid Bath fatality). That being said, this seems like a bit of artistic license as they didn't want to waste time showing his eyes being properly washed out to the extent possible with the limited supply in the cantine.
I only like the story because it gave Mileena more screen time minus her death. But she still had more time than mk9 and she isn’t even in mk 11 story💀
Green glow only working on elder gods is still stupid, you want to tell me you can beat something above any mortal and yet strong mortal can prove to be an issue to you? That's just bad writing.
Ok I agree with everything Buuuut MK11’s story is much muuuuuch worse It makes ZERO sense Plus no matter the cool things like Kitana finally becoming Kahn, Scorpion learning the truth and forgetting about revenge, Cassie being finally interesting, no, all of that is thrown down the drain in order for yet ANOTHER reboot
@@jerrygriffin4471 i don't hate MK11 i only thought the Story was the weakest out of the three i think MK11 is a good game and i thought the story was okay but if i compare it to MK 9 and X i have to say this is the weakest story
I hated how they portrayed the revenants, it ruined mk9 great lead up. They should've changed perspective and let you play as the villains a few chapters
11:45 Water is actually one of the best things to wash acid away with. The reason for it being that water can be a solvant to the water and essentially carry the corrosive substance away from the eyes. It'll spread, yes, but in that spreading it'll be diluded and hopefully moved out of more sensitive areas. The most crazy thing here is that she stopped so early though as in most cases you'd basically just empty the entire bottle on someone's face, not all at once obviously, but it wouldn't just be one quick pour and then done.

It was sort of silly sure but I never got the impression that the revenants were weaker but rather "stagnant" and Johnny got way stronger over the many years between 9 and 10. This reinforces his win over Shinnok, enhances Sonya who has always been more formidable, and justified Cassie's strength.

8:36 literally my question for almost every story mode event. Why didn’t you teleport? Why didn’t you use your powers and float? How are you cornered if you can teleport?
This is something people in fanbases call "dumb for the sake of the plot".
Cuz the writer got one story to tell and sometimes a character gotta be dumb for that story to succeed.
For the acid attack of Reptile on Takeda's eyes, pouring water is a good solution
'cause if you add enough water to an acid solution, you will dilute the acid and it will be less dangerous
Also in chemistry class, teachers told you to rince your eyes, if for some reasons, it make its way to your eyes, and for at least 10 min

1: D'vorah isn't weak
2: It was poison and backstabbing.
3: D'Vorah is MUCH older than Scorpion, so probably just as good in fighting.

@@cringeabsam4544 Liu Kang is too hyped up
Remember the fight scene between Raiden and all of the revenants? I actually unironically love that scene. It shows off how powerful Raiden is and even after what he did he still was crushed by Shinok. However, because the revenants were shown to be so weak it never crosses your mind that Raiden could lose, because the revenants have only fought people weaker than raiden and have always lost so of course they would lose to a God. Think about how amazing it would be if they were roaming around being menaces kicking the ass of the cast just so when they get to Raiden he beats the All by himself. Not only would that give Raiden a legitimate and very awesome show of power. It would reinforce the hopelessness they wanted to show when shinok Stops Raiden as easily as he did.
true man,true
Raiden was injured thats why Shinnk "beaten" him
I think a good solution to this (that some may dislike) is player wins the fight to progress, but sometimes when the story calls for it, maybe either make the fight unwinnable and the story progresses on loss. Either that or just have the following cutscene show the villain taking back control of the fight and winning narratively regardless
So you want a Story mode where you constantly lose to have one great moment with the strongest character on the good sides roster?
Actually now that I think about it, Rain is the only character to actually use his teleport to gtfo of a bad situation lmao
It's not lazy. Adding whole new animations for every fatality and brutality in the game just for one character is a waste of time and money
That's how it should have been past MK9, but I don't think 12 will have that.
Seriously, it feels like returning villains aren't really a threat. You never really see baraka, erron black, noob saibot etc. win because you never play as them.

I always thought that kotal losing to Kung jin was due to probably still being weakened by mileena in chapter 2, after she blasted him with shinnok's amulet
And then the writers made fun of our Wheelchair user
Considering some of koalas other losses, I don't that reason holds up very well.

It's kinda funny how MK11 has the worst and best villain at the same time. Shang Tsung rocked.

Its high school chemistry acid and bases water is a base and will neutralize acid
@@dedmanzombie LOL. Water has a neutral pH (7).
It does help, but not because it is a base.
@@masteranimation2008 10/10, totally agree.

I find myself agreeing
If you think that Kronika is the changer of the events that transpired through the events of MK9 then it has no purpose for her being here if she's never around and becomes nothing more than self-insert.
exactly quan chi legit deafeated lui kang and killed him and manipulated shinok
I really hate mk 11 aftermath story mode recons so many past Mortal Kombat events.
MK11 saw this video and said: "Challenge Accepted".
11:56 This moment had me geeking. I felt the same way. Like how else are you supposed to wash stuff out of your eyes?
Real quick, on the water + acid:
It would dilute the acid but with how acidic Reptile's acid is it wouldn't do much.
Some sort of weak base would help neutralize the effects, but that's bringing RL physics in.
That's just from my memory, not a chemist though so anyone with more info please drop that knowledge!
Precisely. There’s no way a couple cups worth of that would ever do enough
It flat out wouldn't work. The acid already made contact with the skin BEFORE water was applied. The damage would already be done and the water would just be like putting ointment on an amputation wound... Useless.
@@CeeDoubleU
Well no, because certain acids erode at different times and points.
He did that's why he says he's taking a chance with him and kidnaps him
Is it possible that Shang Tsung knew about Johnny Cage's hidden power? I know that it was long before the Neatherealm games, but in the live action movie, it was Shang Tsung who lured him into the tournament, and it was never really explained why. In their first interaction in MK9, Tsung tells Cage that "appearances can be deceiving" before making him the first combatant of the tournament. Given how old Shang Tsung is, is it possible that he knew about Cage's lineage and thought that his power could be stolen used against the Elder Gods?
in kano's arcade ending, it said he had a son. I wish he had somehow made it into the story mode
Wonder why they didn’t make him a character??
Yes, I agree. They did get a little military heavy.
What come to realize in the MKX story is
1. Quan Chi was punching bag
2. Shinnok was easily beaten by Johnny and Cassie
3. Johnny even survived a blast from Shinnok (who is a Freaking Elder God)
Try punching the ground... feel that?

Jade kitana and mileena's abilities to be linked to their weapons, since two games have kitana being able to use jade and mileenas abilities through having mieena and jades sai and staff respectively

Aftermath was a complete clusterfuck, the moment you realise that liu kang never needed to send Shang, fujin and nightwolf back in time.
@sektornet
if Mileena tried to bite her she would have been stabbed by Devorah's stabby bits.
and ripping off Devorah's jaw would not kill her since she can live with only half a body.

MK9 Johnny Cage's ending:
As the last remnants of Shao Kahn disintegrated, Johnny felt strange, as if he had *lost control of his body.*
Suddenly, *powerful energy burst forth, destroying everything around him.* Johnny sought the aid of Raiden and Nightwolf, but *their efforts did nothing to stop these random spasms of destruction.* Desperate, *Raiden transported Johnny to Seido, the Realm of Order, where he could be taught to control his power.* Johnny Cage will transform into a warrior powerful beyond mortal imagining.
(Non-canon, I know. And maybe that's something else.)
MKX Story Mode:
Johnny Cage: I've never been able to re-summon that green halo. Raiden thinks it was triggered when I *saw a loved one about to die.*
(Yeah-yeah, that's just a hearsay and an assumption. But still confirmed by Corrupted Shinnok.)
MKX Komic #20:
Havik: ... Unless his bloodline are warriors bred to fight the gods themselves. Warriors whose *true power is unleashed when their loved ones are near death...*
(He forced Cassie to watch Skarlet beat up Jacqui so he can witness her power and then take it.)
MK 11 Intros:
Scorpion: Your power stopped Shinnok.
Cassie Cage: But it only bubbles up when *my life's in danger.* (Now it's a self-defense mechanism.)
Scorpion: Demonstrate.
Sheeva: Show me the *Green Armor* of the Gods. (Literally a plot armor...)
Cassie Cage: I don't just do it on command, your Highness.
Sheeva: If not on command, then in kombat.

Aftermath sucked, and Cassie was sidelined all throughout base MK11. What are you even on?
I think it would be cool if the revenants won every once in a while.
It is the element that brings life
@Oni I see whatcha did there.
Maybe it’s a type of acid that’s meant to just temporarily blind you? 🤷♀️
Ok I agree with everything
Buuuut MK11’s story is much muuuuuch worse
It makes ZERO sense
Plus no matter the cool things like Kitana finally becoming Kahn, Scorpion learning the truth and forgetting about revenge, Cassie being finally interesting, no, all of that is thrown down the drain in order for yet ANOTHER reboot
Look i liked the story modes from mk9 to 11 but i gotta say that mk11 story for me is the weakest of the 3
Mk9 is pretty solid
@@SonGOKU-DA1MA yeah for me that is the best story mode out of the three
@@Salty-Josh you just hating on mk11 cause everyone else is doing it
@@jerrygriffin4471 i don't hate MK11 i only thought the Story was the weakest out of the three i think MK11 is a good game and i thought the story was okay but if i compare it to MK 9 and X i have to say this is the weakest story
I hated how they portrayed the revenants, it ruined mk9 great lead up. They should've changed perspective and let you play as the villains a few chapters
Honestly, everything in MK11's Story makes anything in MKX's story look like a Snake Eater level Plot
Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Water is actually one of the best things to wash acid away with.
